Here are the updates, corrections and confirmations related to the online shutdown: 1) Nintendo recently confirmed the exact date for the closure: April 8th 2024, at 4pm PT. They re-confirmed that downloading purchased titles and updates will continue for the foreseeable future. 2) Capcom has confirmed that all it's games will also lose all online aspects along with the shutdown. This is Huge. Get the Monster Hunters DLCs before that happens! Thoser are Monster Hunters 3, 4, Generations and Stories, Super Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil The Mercenaries, Resident Evil Revelations, Dungeons & Dragons Chronicles of Mystara and DuckTales Remastered, which has leaderboards I did not know about. (Thanks to WrathfulZeus for this major update!) 3) Sonic games corrections: Mario & Sonic 2014 Olympics Wii-U has leaderboards as well as 4 events playable online and this affects a completionist as some achievements are tied to online play, but completing all of it now is already impossible since miiverse was removed; Sonic Generations 3DS, Mario & Sonic 2016 Olympics and Mario & Sonic 2012 Olympics have leaderboards. (Thanks to RandomSonicGamer12 for this detailed upadte!) 4) Smash on Wii U is already impossible to complete 100% because 2 milestones are tied to the tournaments that are no longer taking place. (Thanks to RandomSonicGamer12 for this detailed upadte!) 5) Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call will lose the online aspect of the versus mode. THis will make getting proficards harder and will also make the game impossible to 100%, as you need to win 50 online battles to get all the achievements. Furthermore there are some special maps that are almost next to impossible to get unless you get a proficard from someone who has them. And finally to get the shining 5 star rank on your profile, yoou may need to work on your online ranking. (Thanks to m1m1snake for this very detailed addition!) 6) Kid Icarus Uprising can be played with bots in together mode and most achievements can be gotten that way. However there may be a few achievements tied to the far away mode that needs to be online. (thanks to fireswarmdragonp for this one!) 7) Pokemon Rumble World is confirmed to still work online. (Thanks to tiagomatias6667 for this confirmation!) 8) Code of Princess on the 3DS has one feature that makes it stand appart, its the only version with the english audio, so some of you may want to experience it online for that reason. (Thanks to RandomEntry13013 for this correction!) 9) Zelda Tri Force Heroes Coliseum doesn't actually have coliseum exclusive drops like I said. The rarest materials can also be acquired by playing the challenges instead of the normal playthroughs of each stage in the game. Apologies for this mistake. (Thanks to lvlr for this important correction!) 10) Miitopia I totally overlooked, apologies. This game counts with spotpass that you can get to widen the range of Miis you can get to those submited by everyone. You can also get daily surveys that can be completed to earn 3 tickets. Not sure what any of that means, but there you go. This game has a remastered version on Switch. (Thanks to josiahdyck6216 for pointing this one out!) 11) Jump Trials Supreme: apparently the extra stages are already not being distributed. (Thanks to maxfi878 for this one!) 12) Team Kirby Clash Deluxe you can hire up to 3 other CPU controlled kirbys each day to help you in battle. You get rewards for hiring as well there are achivments for hiring a number of "wandering adventures". There are also passcodes that still work, those are THANKYOU, ANNIVERSARY, and KIRBY. (Thanks to Nintendude for this one!)
For someone who spent a few minutes ranting about people not being comprehensive in their supposedly comprehensive videos, you sure did miss a few things (not counting the "new news" that happened post-video of course. Not actually holding anything against you, people are imperfect and have different priorities. I was just a bit turned off how it felt like you attacking other RUclipsrs as a whole. Will probably forgo watching most of the video over it.
@@ajbXYZcool Aren’t you easily offended by criticism.😂 Dude has every right to rant and his rant was completely on spot. He also admitted that he himself doesn’t get everything right all the time but that he does his best and that is the difference between the kind of videos he criticized and the videos he does. Do you have any idea how much work his videos here take to make? Making a list of the 10-20 most popular und well known 3ds and wii u titles and reading what multiplayer components they have off the manual is hardly comparable with the effort that goes into videos on this channel. But hey, if you think criticism warrants to ignore one of the if not the most comprehensive channels on video games, then go ahead and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
@@Lock2002ful Look, just to be clear I'm not outright offended. The way I see it, if he just expressed how annoyed he is that supposedly "comprehensive" videos aren't as comprehensive as he'd like, hence his own preference for his own style of videos, that's perfectly fine! There's just no need to outright call other creatives "lazy" for going their own way, especially since it invites criticism for when it appears when he fails to live up to those high standards! Honestly, it's fine to miss a few facts, everyone's human and will ultimately miss things even when we try to be comprehensive. I can give people the benefit of the doubt. But if I see someone judge other people unfairly, and then THEY fail to meet their own standards, I just don't like that kind of attitude. Who's saying that the less comprehensive videos aren't the best videos that those other creatives are able to put out? Even 10 minute videos are a lot of work, and to hear him act high and mighty because he puts in oh so much MORE work and effort is what really turned me off from wanting to watch any more of his video.
Man i didnt expect to see another video from you about the eshop again. Incase i didnt say it before, your vids were a life saver during this whole fiasco. Without your insights, i never wouldve bought a wii u, nor got all the games i did before the eshop shut down
I really am glad that someone had the balls to call out all these uniriginal and downright biased content creators doing the least amount of work when it come to this and the eShop shutdowns. While I guess this is due to thr many of the ganes shown in THIS video being seen as niche to the lot of them to the point where they aren't as familiar to them, but even so it is unfortunate that they haven't been as well documented as they should be. And while I know that somehow homebrew apps can somehow remedy this, though I personally don't know how, many others won't know about this or how they can be the best alternative possible after this much like with the eShop.
Yeah, I've had enough. Sick of clicking on videos of big channels and its just some sorry looking dude that didn't do his homework and has nothing to add, just rambling on about the 5 games he is already familiar with. Thanks for watching, glad you agree!
Tomodachi Life has a much cooler Spotpass feature that's being shut down. In the game you can send out Travelers, which are Miis that leave your island via boat. When you Streetpass someone, the Mii will go to their island. While it's possible for them to eventually return to your island via Streetpass, this isn't a guarantee since they could be relayed halfway around the globe in just a few Streetpasses. So every once in a while the Traveler Miis will send a letter back to your 3DS via Spotpass where they detail what they've been up to, what islands they've been on, and what level they've reached. Really cute feature that's going to be all gone :(
Thank you so much for helping to shine a light on the extra content we're about to lose when Nintendo's servers shut down. I still get StreetPasses out in the wild very often where I live so new people not being able to download the data for Puzzle Swap really hurts me since I was really hoping to complete all the puzzles someday. Fortunately I'm a huge nerd when it comes to 3DS homebrew stuff so I was able to figure out how the Mii Plaza stores it's data for the extra puzzle panels and, several months later, I now have all the data for every region's puzzles (even data that works on the rare iQue 3DS) but sadly I haven't found a way to deliver the data to unmodified consoles, so you will need CFW in order to start collecting pieces after April. The process for installing the data on hacked 3DSes is relatively straightforward though. I'm planning on releasing my dumps to the public soon as well as a guide on how to use this data so that people can keep collecting puzzles after the shutdown
Additionally, a guy called "tastymeatball" has two of the other three panels (they're only missing ANAでDS) that can't be dumped with this method because they were limited-edition and have since expired, but they aren't in their original format (i.e. they've been split apart and combined into one, so you can't see the original headers). Luckily, another user named "Ryccardo" uploaded a SpotPass dump which includes the EUR limited-edition puzzle called "Mario & Happy", and it contains one file for all of the regular puzzles as well as another file for M&H, the latter of which has a slight fifference in the header that allows you to have more than one puzzle file in BOSS extdata at once (the game usually deletes the oldest one otherwise).

THANK YOU DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i've been freaking out about this and am so happy you made a video on it, you're honestly the MOST thorough and hardworking youtubers that exists, I don't even bother watching other people on this topic, you seem to be the only one who cares about these topics, you are my only source of information. thank you so much again!
Glad I could help man! Its because of comments like this that I push myself to the end of videos like this and try being as thorough as possible. I naturally care about this, but the real driver is the community. Thanks for watching and leaving this comment
Regarding the Professor Layton games: For the original DS titles (Curious Village, Diabolical Box, Unwound Future, and Last Specter) I found a workaround solution online that involved connecting to a community-maintained server in order to download/unlock the daily puzzles for those titles so it's possible the same may happen for the 3DS ones as well.
@@NucleaRaptor Google "Is there any way to get access to the weekly puzzles on Curious Village (and the other entries on the DS)?". There's a thread on reddit from 4 years ago detailing how. Can't just link to it here since RUclips will just auto-delete the comment. Anyway I did it the same way as the OP there. I think the biggest hurdle/issue during the process was that the original DS only supports ancient and obsolete WEP encryption/security (which was cracked years ago and is not secure anyway) and which if I recall correctly my current router does not even support, so I had to temporarily make an opening in the network with no security to make things work. I did it for only a single IP address using DMZ feature though rather than expose the whole network.
This is really cool info! If I had a DS I would totally do this (mine was stolen long ago). Hopefully things pick up for me and I can get one soon. Would love to do a video on it too. Thank you for this shadowen!
@@FromTheVoidGames Just to clarify, you can do it on a 3DS too if you have one. Which is what I did as I don't have an original DS either. edit: there's also content for some other DS games at the community server in question -- most notably a bunch of Pokemon stuff and Dragon Quest IX is what stood out to me.
@@shadowen1942 Awesome1 Then I'll definetly get all this and look into making a video about it. Thank you so much for the info and clarification shadowen!
Hey Arthur - Thanks for having principles and making useful, enjoyable content. There’s a lot I would’ve missed out on if it weren’t for your content. I’ve got a question (though the money is because you deserve it rather than being for an answer, so no hard feelings if you don’t reply). I bought Little Battlers Experience for my 3DS but I haven’t yet played it. I downloaded the DLC from the “Downloads” button on the main menu (as shown in your section on LBX in this video). My question is: Is there anything else I need to do to secure the DLC please? Do you know if the extra content will simply be available in the game when I do play it, or is there some point in the game I need to reach before the shutdown in a couple of days? Oh, and this is a bit of a shot in the dark, but you don’t happen to know what the “???” button (on the main menu, beneath “Continue”, “New Game” and”Downloads”) is do you please? Thanks if you do reply and no worries if you don’t.
@@FromTheVoidGames I still have Stories and Generations still sealed I'm my collection, with the former bought on clearance long ago. It's certainly been a dang good couple years getting a lot of 3DS games for cheap at Walmart and Target here and it's a shame that that hasn't been the case nowadays..
@@keijijohnson9754 have in mind unlike the other Monster Hunter 3DS games Generations it self has only the game and no saving capacity, instead all your sava data is kept on your 3DS SD. So if you have multiple 3DS and play MHGen Cartridge in one 3DS to another it will be it's own game, since your data will be on the other 3DS you played last time, this will include DLCs as well.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the work you've put into these. I used your guide when the eshop closed and I used this guide before the online shutdown. The info was invaluable and way more in depth than any other guide. You deserve all the credit for putting out actual valuable, researched information and not just some flashy clickbait video that doesn't give any actual info. Keep up the good work, there are people out there that do appreciate what you do for the community!
I didn't see any Resident Evil Revelations online multiplayer mode for 3DS, there was just the main campaign mode and the option to Streetpass. The Wii U version does have multiplayer online. Turns out you have to beat stage 3 on the 3DS game to even unlock it! I will never understand all the gated stuff the 3DS seemed to love implementing!
Heads up, There are 3 tablets that are unlocked after beating the game that are story related in Dragon Quest VII, Thanks for the video. About Xenoblade Chronicles X, I dont have time to play it right now to grab these weapons/armors, hope the Pretendo project allow us to play those. So glad that the Switch does not have spot pass or street pass, hope for the switch 2 does not have it either.
@@FromTheVoidGames Memories of an Old Friend, The Youth of a Hero and Divine Recollections are the 3 story related tablets that are unlocked after beating the game.
Thanks for the list. Also: Star Fox Guard requires online competitions to unlock medals (achievements) for full completion. Xenoblade Chronicles X has achievements and two holofigures that require online play. So it is impossible for 100% completion, let alone much more difficult to unlock what you can by playing solely offline.
I just rushed through Triforce Heroes in single player, and I have to say I found it pretty easy to beat without any other players. The one annoying vulture boss you point out is simple enough once you know the strategy for beating him single-player; recommend just watching some RUclips videos for how to beat him if needed. If anyone else is worried about rushing through this game before the server shutdowns, don’t worry at all. Great game, though! Have really enjoyed it.
Hey, thank you for making this video, it's very helpful ^^ You can add Ultimate NES Remix to the list of games with online leaderboards :) Fortunately nothing major, but it cool how you can see footage of exactly what they did with button inputs and everything!
Hey man, guess I didn't comment here in a while but once again big thanks from me. The fact that you went through such a colossal list of games out of which some you don't even own yet still being this thorough with everything... The biggest tragedy here is truly that this fucked up algorhythm won't do it's damn job of showing people what actual quality content looks like - basically what you said already. You deserve only the best for this, Arthur. Oh yeah and daily rewards in Culdcept Revolt? Better late than never, thanks for telling us about this too. 😄
Thanks Alex! Glad to see you around! Im also loggin in daily to get stuff on Culdcept Revolt :D. Yeah, the algorithm has been getting on my nerve. Keeps feeding people with hate and fear inducing videos more and more too, it's damn evil if you ask me.
Thank you so very much. I knew you'd be the MVP here. Gosh, I just have to make peace with the fact that some of these will be lost to me. I don't have the time. But I'm sure to create some proper save files for FEA just in case. I will mourn 3DS Pokémon the most of all, that's for sure.
Thank you so much for this big video explaining all the features that will be gone after April 8, I`ll miss a lot those online features, GTS and online trade in Pokemon games, visiting other`s islands in Animal crossing and the SpotPass features.
Kid Icarus: Uprising has an unlockable tied to playing 50 online multiplayer matches (“Together” mode playing “Far Away”). Note: that’s the only thing that will be going away/lost. You can get everything else playing Nearby in Together mode with bots. You can also use Feathers to get past the gems/StreetPass-related unlockables.
I'm just boosting this one now, but silly question: Even if I haven't unlocked the Hades Board yet, these achievements will still automatically unlock once I do right? Meaning, let's say I play it 50 multiplayer matches now, and then unlock that board, will it immediately autopop?
@@BrandonTheRandomGamer I actually still have the exact same question… I have no idea. I’m hoping they will eventually later unlock… can anyone possibly confirm for us??
@@thanksbetotap No worries, I'm leaning toward probably yes because it keeps record of the number of matches, etc. I'm not able to playthrough the game before the deadline, but even if you find out the answer after the fact, I'd appreciate knowing what the results are!
Thank you so much as always for the great video. Doing a quick check again with days to go. Video will be a nice, if sad time capsule to see what was lost. Fan servers will be left to do the work hopefully. Fingers crossed
Void, you're an absolute hero for doing this colossal amount of work. It's such a shame the channel is so criminally undersubbed that most people won't even see this list until it's gonna be far too late. :/ That aside, I was really dreading to see Laytons on one of these lists again and groaned audibly when they came up lol. I really wanted to ease my way into the series so I properly could savor PL vs PW when I got to it, but it looks like I don't have that luxury anymore, so I'm gonna have to rush through them like an asshole. =_=
For Miracle Mask and Arzran Legacy (I have these two) you don't need to rush through them. You just have to go through very beginning to get to the point where it first allows you to save the game and from there you can acquire all of the bonus daily puzzles. You only need to do it once on any save slot and it works for all of them (and any new game you may start). From what I have read the data for those puzzles may already actually have been there to begin with and all that connecting online does is unlock them -- though not 100% certain on that. As far as the other two 3DS titles go I don't have them so I can't speak from personal experience. Layton's Mystery Journey is likely the same situation as those other two but for Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright there is clearly some key differences and seemingly more to miss out on there.
Glad you find these videos useful NuclearRapor! Yeah, like shadowen said, only Prof Layton vs Phoenix Wright requires significant time investment, over 20 hours, finishing the game. The other 3 games are simply a saving the game once and you can download the daily puzzles. Still 20+ hours is a long time investment.
Great video! I feel your struggle, nobody wants to do the hard work when it comes to documenting everything, but somebody has to do it and I'm glad it you who's doing it! Glad to know Pokemon Bank will remain online for a little bit longer, not sure if I'm going to store all my Pokemons on there or not
@@Lock2002ful Yeah, everyone is wondering the same, Square Enix has not said anything about it. Nintendo left it to the publishers to decide if and when to shut down their own servers for 3DS and Wii U, so Square's could stay open, but its not guaranteed.
Thanks so much for this, I started playing Fire Emblem Awakening (my first Fire Emblem game) after seing this video and love it! Just got to the part where I can get the spot pass stuff, wouldn't have started playing it in time without this video and wouldn't have know how to activate it either.
I'm subscribed and got this video recommended 3 months later and weeks after it would've been useful. Still glad to have this video to watch. I really appreciate the quality content! Thanks for it all
I've been following your videos since the first one you did for the whole 3DS + WiiU store closure. (I ended up buying 928 games between the two consoles and every DLC I could find. Now I've been slowly working on the xbox 360 games.) This issue here is a serious problem for a completely different reason than the others as well: If you lose your save data you'll lose all this stuff forever outside of modding =/. (I haven't finished the whole video yet so I'm not sure if you mention this or if I missed you mentioning it at the beginning)
THANK YOU! This is an actually comprehensive video full of information on what we will be missing after the online shutdown beyond the shallow "no more online multiplayer". While the loss of free stuff you get from just being online with the game is bad (it sets a precedent on lost content for those who came after the life span the company desires for their product, a practice that will only become more predatory as time goes on), I can accept that. What I can't accept is the badge management lock. Why and how do we need the online to use the badges we already got? The badges were a great addition to 3DS menu customization and removing it is just shooting it on its spine, paralyzing it for to rest of its functional life never more to have the freedom to move dozens of Ashley pngs in the home screen. I hope that the homebrew community will come up with a solution for that, outside of GYTB.
There might be additional problems with the Awakening SpotPass Content, but I'm not sure. 1. I can't tell if the content is only applied to the current save file and can't be used on a New Game in the future. 2. There is one type of content that involves placing special NPC characters on your world map to interact with. But there's a limit with how many you can place. So you can't get all of them at once. I don't know if they remain available from the SpotPass menu after they've appeared there.
Out of all of the games on this list, somehow the Badge Arcade news hurts the most for me. This was a feature I absolutely adored on the 3DS and wished they’d use on their other consoles. RIP Arcade Bunny, you will be greatly missed 😭
Will the Nintendo 3DS transfer service to another console still be available? I've been thinking about transferring my old 3DS to a New Nintendo 3DS XL to play old Monster Hunter games and to have my old games on a bigger screen as well and it would suck if thats going away in April as I will have to make my decision about that soon. I've had my 3DS for over a decade now and would like to keep it and all the games and progress I have on it but I have no idea how the transfer system thing works or if it even still works right now. If it doesn't I would need to get another copy of Monster Hunter 3U (I have 4U on a cart) if I wanted to use the New 3DS as it has the C stick (the Circle pad Pro is quite clunky). Thank you for still doing these videos by the way (think this is my Super Thanks on YT)! Everyone else has just been incredibly low effort about it as you've said. Also I'm getting a 004-3003 error when trying to connect to SpotPass on my 3DS for Record Breaker so idk whats happening there. Also how do you unlock the Spotpass for the Pushmo Pullblox games? Do you have to progress further in the game or smth?
Thank you so much for the support albal156, and apologies for the delay in response, I was on vacation with my family until yesterday. I believe that we will still be able to transfer data between 3DSess as this service doesn't require online to my knoledge. I transfered my data between SD cards with no issues and no connection required recently. So you are good there. Note that Monster Hunter Generations has a transfer app that connects with the switch version of that game. This app will no longer work after april 8th as per Capcom's own statement recently. I couldn't find anything about that error on Record Breaker, sorry. All Pushmo games' extra data is not Spotpass, so don't worry you are not going to lose access to those. I only added them in the video cause its probably my last chance to do that and I missed it before. I think you need a little bit of progress until you open the Pushmo Studio. Inside there will be a QR code icon. Thanks again albal! Cheers!
Definitely gonna have to grind some Mario Maker for those costume mushrooms! As always, thanks for your consistently comprehensive coverage/information!
I'm gonna miss Splatoon. I'll probably get a second Wii U and mod it to use Pretendo and keep playing. S3 takes up _most_ of my time, but going back to simpler times has it's own charm. Oh man...I think FE Awakening is probably one of my most expensive games just because of how much I spent to get all the DLC. Not being able to re-arrange my badges is *THE* *BIGGEST* level of bullshit Nintendo has ever forced on us.
the original is still the only splatoon I've played so far, crazy right? I really liked it too, I keep postponing to try the other 2. Yeah, the badge thing is ridiculous. They could easily patch Badge Arcade to still work without the online check just for the badge arrangement. Iwata would do that.
The first Splatoon game has been one of the many reason why I miss the days of the Wii U more as that and the 3DS were the last remnants of enjoying console gaming online without needing to sign up for an subscription to do so. Really makes me miss those years so dang much...
@@keijijohnson9754 As much as I have had a lot of love for Nintendo games for decades, one of the best things about PC gaming is that online play has always been free for the most part. Outside of certain MMOs or titles with subscription-based models of course.
Thanks a bunch for your hard work! Your videos on DLCs for 3DS games really helped me organize what I wanted to get before the store closed. I even managed to get a few DLCs I didn't even know existed thanks to your extensive coverage of the content that was going missing. The highlights for this video for me are Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, Fire Emblem Awakening, and Dragon Quest VII. I hope I have enough time to finish DQ VII on time haha. As for games you missed, you actually skipped my favorite game in the console (and one of my favorite games of all time haha). Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call will lose its online play, which covers the online aspect of the versus mode, which in part, helps sharing proficards with other players. This will also make the game impossible to 100% and to get the ultimate completion rank, as you need to win 50 online battles to get all the achievements (you get about 3 more achivements on the way, "win 1 online battle", "win 10 online battles", and "win 30 online battles"). It will also make it very difficult to get the proficard achievements, as there's one achievement that requires obtaining 99 different proficards from other players. Tbf, the online has been very dead for a while, but you could maybe get help with this if you reach out to the discord server for the Theatrhythm games. It's also important to note, that there are some special maps that are almost next to impossible to get unless you get a proficard from someone who has them (they have a premium rating, or something alongt those lines). These are very nice for the quest medley game mode. Also, to get the shining 5 star rank on your profile, I think you need to work on your online ranking, which will be impossible to build once the servers shut down.
Yeah, I wouldsuggest focusing on the Dragon Quest DLC because it could have the same fate as the Monster Hunter games. If you didn't see, just the other day Capcom confirmed that all its games will lose all online aspects along with the shutdown of Nintendo Network, so the same could happen to Square Enix games. Cool, thanks for the addition! Really appreciated! Will add to the pinned comment right away!
I made my own 3DS closure video and you definitely put up more effort than my video. Not that I didn’t work hard and I did a lot of personal research but I am terrible at editing and was capturing low quality footage on my lunch breaks lol But either way your videos are definitely more comprehensive than mine was and I have to respect your dedication
Regarding Tri Force Heroes, I never touched the coliseum, but I'm pretty sure I was still able to get every costume in the game. You get different drops in the treasure boxes at the end of a stage if you did the challenges instead of a normal run through a stage, and that might explain why some drops were harder to get outside the coliseum. By the way, the challenges are worth doing. Some of them drastically changed how you approach a stage.
The darkness challenge I remember being very fun! I hate the time trials. I had to do that solo and I won with seconds left after many attempts. But I always hate time trials. More daring players will enjoy them, I'm sure.
Oh man THANK YOU so much for this video. I completely forgot about getting stuff from spotpass. Time to go through my library for any last min things now.
Best video out there on the topic, i'll revisit 7 games thanks to you, that i was not aware would soon lose free extras, thank you for doing this work, high quality!
It would be nice if Capcom allowed the MH3U (Wii U) and 4U (3DS) servers to stay up. Also, thanks for letting me know about the Samurai Warriors Chronicles spotpass.
Thank you so so so much for this list!! I'm so sad that you won't be able to swap the badges anymore :( I always do badges when the seasons change, or if I play a new game and have badges for that game. Also thank you for mentioning that you can swap the sd card, I will definitely do that!
Yeah, this was a big bummer. Most people were sure that we would still be able to acess this part of the game only even if the rest didn't work. Seriously, Iwata wouldn't allow this to pass.
I am so sad, now that I got all these game before the eShop closes I was busy with work and had no time to play these games and now the online is going away and I only have so little time to try them out.
Yeah, it's a bummer. Xenoblade X is the one that will hurt the most for me. There is no way I can fit a 100 -200 long game until april. Glad to see you around Nintendude!
Thanks again for this Arthur, tbh I thought all of these features were already gone so last year due to one of your videos I spent a good day downloading everything to an SD card. The Fire Emblem content was the most important to me, was complicated having to get so far into some of the games before being able to access the eShop through the game
One thing worth mention is that it looks like the spot pass/street pass are not dlcs but the content is already in the game cartridge and what it does is just update the save file to unlock the content, so in theory could be unlocked with a save editor, but i look into the DQ7 save editor and it can unlock the extra itens and enemies but not the tablets, would be nice if the communit work on it or replicate the spot pass feature on CFW.
This is very interesting. Seems like the tablets are more complicated than most other extra content. Another reason to get it before its too late for anyone that cares. Thanks for this info!
@@FromTheVoidGames more or less, maybe the developer did not implement it, would be nice if he had done, same thing with save editors for other games, it is a s**** functionality having a content on the cartridge being locked by a service.
appreciate all u do here. your rant is valid, it’s hard to find people like you who are willing to do the proper research, and spend all their time doing self promo and using flashy editing to hide the surface level knowledge they’re spreading
Right? We used to get such great content from so many RUclipsrs, but now only a few channels remain that do quality stuff, like The Gaming Historian for instance. It's still possible to achieve success doing quality stuff but I feel like its way more difficult because of the algorithm and not because of how many competitors exist. Sad state of affairs in my opinion.
I was able to beat most of Xenoblade X without online help (just missing the last 3 superbosses), but I have to say it makes the game a lot more fun to play once you grind online for the best Skell (robot) in the game. I think if you prioritize beating the story above all else, you can beat the game in less than 100 hours then use the online as much as you can to get the materials you need (only takes about 3-8 hours depending on what you want). Good luck to anyone reading this!
Thank you for everything sir. Your coverage helped me take my 3dsXL from dusty collectable to hierloom console just in the nick of time and I appreciate that big big. Side note: So disappointed that only the 3ds got the fantastic english VO on Code of Princess, esp knowing it was probably a purely monetary decision to leave it out on switch.
I only have the 3DS version and didn't know that! Cool, so its not 100% a better version on the Switch, will add that to the pinned comment. Thanks for this info RandomEntry
Fantastic video yet again man! I love how you mention completion related stuff for each game as well since that's what I personally care about! As you requested, I would like to share some of my knowledge with primarily the Sonic Games on the Wii-U/3DS Sonic Generations 3DS - has Onlline Leaderboards & Versus mode (That can be played locally) Unsure if there's any completionist aspects that can't be done through StreetPass. Can someone confirm? Mario & Sonic at the 2012 London Olympic Games and 2016 Rio Games (Both 3DS) - Online Leaderboards Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games Wii-U - A LOT of people forget about this game lol It has online leaderboards as well as (just) 4 playable events online. For completionists, the game has well over 200 in-game achievements with some requiring to play online and submit all your records to the leaderboards. HOWEVER, sadly one is unavailable at this time due to requiring Miiverse to upload a news interview after breaking a record on an event. So if you haven't got that one already, there's no point in going for it all (Until Pretendo is fully up and running anyways). Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Wii-U - Surprisingly, NO online multiplayer, but leaderboards. Good news for completionists, it seems there's no online-related accomplishments in this one not even connecting to the leaderboards or Miiverse! Smash on 3DS & Wii-U - As you said (and thank you for that) a few milestones are affected by the removal of online. Sadly 4 were exclusive to the short lasted tournament mode for the Wii-U version which got taken down when Ultimate came out. So if you didn't get those milestones then, it's no longer possible...till Pretendo comes out anyway! 3DS version is good though once you get the 2 milestones for getting those online Smash points that I forgot what it's called. Got them within an hour though. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed - As you said, contains many other versions but for those who want to max out every version (like me) keep in mind of the online stickers required for both the 3DS & Wii-U versions!
Thank you so much RandomSonicGamer! Apologies for taking so long to answer, I took a 1 week vacation with the family right after the video came out :D . I added all this information to the pinned comment. Really appreciate this you rock!
@@FromTheVoidGames I've been meaning to do the same with my 3DS and Wii U but for whatever reason just never took the time to do so. Not sure how it'll fix the whole online thing though.
Brain Age: Concentration Training also has SpotPass features and also achievements. It may well be that some achievements are even tied to SpotPass but I'm not sure.
I think Yokai Watch 2 may have some downloadable stuff iirc. Thanks for the heads up on Little Battlers! Never heard of it and happy to have added a cheap Level 5 game to the collection thanks to your recommendation.
Actually, most of the kid icarus together mode achievements can be obtained by playing with bots, though I believe there are a couple locked behind playing far away mode, or online
Do we know if or to what extent Miitopia for the 3DS will be affected? Doesn’t it pull from online for the surveys when you launch the game, the Miis at the traveler’s hub, and which Miis you can pick for your cast?
This one I also don't have and totally overlooked, apologies. Researching it now it does seem to have spotpass. You can widen your range of Miis submitted by everyone. Not sure what that means. Other than that you can also get surveys every day by connecting online. Also not sure what the hell is that. Will add it all to the pinned comment now. Thanks Josiah!
Than You for this video 👍 awesome work 🔥🔥🔥 time fly so fast - first eShop and now online on this systems. I’m glad I had have a chance to played it myself 👌
For games that require some time investment like the Fire Emblem games, can I go through the process download the extra content and when I play the game start a new save with the DLC appearing in the new save?
For Fire Emblem Awakening: yes, for all the free SpotPass “DLC” content, but no for the “SpotPass” characters content (you need to buy with gold all the SpotPass characters you want in the remaining few days before SpotPass shuts down, though you can subsequently re-access those characters from your same cartridge/copy of the game). The rare items from the character stores are likewise also going away in a few days, forever :(
For Fire Emblem Fates: don’t worry about it much. It was just the My Castle feature, and for that there was only one good sword (Ganglari) that was available as a bonus item. However getting the number of bonus points for that requires a _lot_ of grinding and is really not worth it.
I wonder if you can just drop all your badges (or as many as you want to keep) onto one of the menu screens so you can keep them that way. I might be misunderstanding how this shutdown is going to affect our badges from the arcade though.
So the 3DS limits up to 1000 badges available at any given time. If you want to add a badge that is not in the 1000 you selected to be available, you will have to remove at least one group of badges, and doing so simply wipes out all badges you placed in your dashboard, its a sucky system. So the only way it to mess around with multiple SD cards, which also sucks. This sucks, I miss Iwata.
@FromTheVoidGames Ah, ok I think I get it. I was only able to get 700 badges, so I think I'm safe. One of the only perks to getting into the 3DS late lol Thanks for continuing to be the best video game channel on RUclips 👍
As a completionist that has very little time at hand for some time, I outright hate that they take away the possibility to 100% some games without offering any alternative solution! There is hardly any chance I will find the time to complete everything I want to in time before the servers close so I will have to admit to keeping these games as thorns in my side...😢
Regarding FE Awakening: I can't tell if the content is only applied to your current save file, so I'm not sure if this will be available on a New Game unlike the DLCs.
ALSO: One of the SpotPass DLCs are NPCs that you place on your world map to interact with. But there's a limit. You can only place a few at a time. So you can't get them all at the same time.
Is there some gated content behind the spotpass stuff for Samurai Warriors. I got it today and while my 3DS has the blue glowing light I don't get any spotpass alert for the game. However I notice that the game currently doesn't give me access to Streetpass until I unlock more characters. Can anyone help?
Is it possible to get SpotPass DLC via Jailbreak? I own the original games but want to know if it will be possible to get the full experience in the future. Thanks!
One thing that might have been missed here is Lego Dimensions on the Wii U. All the DLC content was free (gated behind scanning in the figures) but needed to be downloaded (you could do this without owning them). I'm not sure if it is on a separate server or not.
About Jump Trials Supreme, I have no idea how to download extra stages so I guess it doesn't work any more. By the way I'm number 7 on the global leaderboard.
This is probably old news by now, but Square Enix pulled the plug on the DLC servers on April 8. A couple of players did back them up on save files, but downloading them to your current saved games... not happening. (Unless Pretendo can unlock it on their end, however...)
Wait hold on, when editing your badge layout on the home screen, the badge options up top is gonna be removed?! Is that apart of online or something? I don't understand this removal at all.
Hi Summy. No. The bar on the top will stay functional. What will be removed is the ability to rearrange which badges will appear in that bar you referred to. This function only appears once you surpass 1000 badges acquired, so if you don't have over 1000 there is nothing to worry. Many do, cause its kinda easy for someone that played the game for a long time. Thanks for the question, this is a good clarification.
@@FromTheVoidGames Ah ok, but I didn't think a removal like this was possible. I still don't see the point for this removal anyways. I got 714 badges, so I guess it wouldn't effect me. Though still unfortunate for those over 1000 people.
@@FromTheVoidGames By golly the way you worded this on the video had me thinking I wouldn't be able to edit my badges within the 3DS menu layout itself LMAO
@@summysailar I think the badge arcade program just wasn't designed for a future without Nintendo Network in mind. They have all your badge data online but your 3DS can only fit 1000 badges at a time. Without Nintendo Network, there is no way to talk to the badge arcade server. As someone with about 3750 badges, I'm still bracing myself for the pain of organizing my collection on 4 sd cards. :(
@@classicpctinker5070 I guess the online aspect makes sense, but I could have never noticed such a system like that. Hope you keep everything you need, and keep fighting the good fight soldier. 🫡
You are missing from 3DS a minecraft clone Battleminerz from the list, it has multiplayer mode that I suppose is now gone. Ice Station Z I think also had a multiplayer mode I suppose is also gone now. Watchdogs might not be gone yet, since Ubisoft might be having their own system to run it.
I’m contimplating buying Animal Crossing New Leaf, but I don’t know if the online for that game is something I’ll care about so much. It’s a game I wanted to play back in the day, but never got to.
Asking the audience for info is fine when you’ve put a lot of your own work in first. It’s only annoying when the video lists 5-10 games then asks the audience for the rest so they can make more content without any of their own inspiration and research.
Agreed 100%! Hopefully most people will find this video worthwhile. Got some great additions already, which I included in the Pinned comment. Thanks for your view and comment!
Here are the updates, corrections and confirmations related to the online shutdown:
1) Nintendo recently confirmed the exact date for the closure: April 8th 2024, at 4pm PT.
(Thanks to WrathfulZeus for this major update!)
3) Sonic games corrections: Mario & Sonic 2014 Olympics Wii-U has leaderboards as well as 4 events playable online and this affects a completionist as some achievements are tied to online play, but completing all of it now is already impossible since miiverse was removed; Sonic Generations 3DS, Mario & Sonic 2016 Olympics and Mario & Sonic 2012 Olympics have leaderboards. (Thanks to RandomSonicGamer12 for this detailed upadte!)
4) Smash on Wii U is already impossible to complete 100% because 2 milestones are tied to the tournaments that are no longer taking place. (Thanks to RandomSonicGamer12 for this detailed upadte!)
5) Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call will lose the online aspect of the versus mode. (Thanks to m1m1snake for this very detailed addition!)
6) Kid Icarus Uprising can be played with bots in together mode and most achievements can be gotten that way. However there may be a few achievements tied to the far away mode that needs to be online. (thanks to fireswarmdragonp for this one!)
7) Pokemon Rumble World is confirmed to still work online. (Thanks to tiagomatias6667 for this confirmation!)
8) Code of Princess on the 3DS has one feature that makes it stand appart, its the only version with the english audio, so some of you may want to experience it online for that reason. (Thanks to RandomEntry13013 for this correction!)
9) Zelda Tri Force Heroes Coliseum doesn't actually have coliseum exclusive drops like I said. The rarest materials can also be acquired by playing the challenges instead of the normal playthroughs of each stage in the game. Apologies for this mistake. (Thanks to lvlr for this important correction!)
10) Miitopia I totally overlooked, apologies. This game counts with spotpass that you can get to widen the range of Miis you can get to those submited by everyone. You can also get daily surveys that can be completed to earn 3 tickets. Not sure what any of that means, but there you go. This game has a remastered version on Switch. (Thanks to josiahdyck6216 for pointing this one out!)
11) Jump Trials Supreme: apparently the extra stages are already not being distributed. (Thanks to maxfi878 for this one!)
12) Team Kirby Clash Deluxe you can hire up to 3 other CPU controlled kirbys each day to help you in battle. You get rewards for hiring as well there are achivments for hiring a number of "wandering adventures". There are also passcodes that still work, those are THANKYOU, ANNIVERSARY, and KIRBY. (Thanks to Nintendude for this one!)
Oh crap, there go the next two months of my life.
Thanks for the update.
@@ajbXYZcool
Aren’t you easily offended by criticism.😂
Dude has every right to rant and his rant was completely on spot.
Looks like Tipping Stars community features have already been discontinued but Minis on the Move's player-made levels are still available.
Man i didnt expect to see another video from you about the eshop again. Incase i didnt say it before, your vids were a life saver during this whole fiasco. Without your insights, i never wouldve bought a wii u, nor got all the games i did before the eshop shut down
Yeah, me neither, lol! Though I still want tomake more videos on the eshop and Wii U. Thanks for your support MadGameBoy!
That sounds like a nice little project and will be appreciated!
This is awesome! Do ping me once you dump the data and I will give it a shout out for sure! Great innitiative Leo! Thanks for letting us know.

Glad I could help man! Its because of comments like this that I push myself to the end of videos like this and try being as thorough as possible. I naturally care about this, but the real driver is the community. Thanks for watching and leaving this comment
Regarding the Professor Layton games:
For the original DS titles (Curious Village, Diabolical Box, Unwound Future, and Last Specter) I found a workaround solution online that involved connecting to a community-maintained server in order to download/unlock the daily puzzles for those titles so it's possible the same may happen for the 3DS ones as well.
Where can I find this?

If Switch online services are ever going to go down in a similar way like 3DS and Wii U, Godspeed to you my friend covering all those games 😂
I don't even want to think about that haha
Yeah, that will be insane. But Im up to it. Have already started with the drilling :D
Oh glad this list is coming up.
P.S. Glad you are covering the Monster Hunter DLCs more people should know about them, thank you so much.
Yeah, I bet lots of people are still sleeping on those!
@@FromTheVoidGames I still have Stories and Generations still sealed I'm my collection, with the former bought on clearance long ago.
Thanks for the correction, I always thought it was only Memories of an Old Friend.
The what Project?
@@FromTheVoidGames Memories of an Old Friend, The Youth of a Hero and Divine Recollections are the 3 story related tablets that are unlocked after beating the game.
Thanks for the list. Also:
Star Fox Guard requires online competitions to unlock medals (achievements) for full completion.

Gosh, I just have to make peace with the fact that some of these will be lost to me. I don't have the time. But I'm sure to create some proper save files for FEA just in case.
I will mourn 3DS Pokémon the most of all, that's for sure.
My pleasure Akwatypus! Yeah, Im coming to the conclusion that I wont be able to fit Xenoblade Chronicles X's ' 100+ hours until April. Bummer

That aside, I was really dreading to see Laytons on one of these lists again and groaned audibly when they came up lol. I really wanted to ease my way into the series so I properly could savor PL vs PW when I got to it, but it looks like I don't have that luxury anymore, so I'm gonna have to rush through them like an asshole. =_=
It's not the same of course and a bad consolation, but luckily with extra story things, someone will have put it on youtube, likely.
Glad to know Pokemon Bank will remain online for a little bit longer, not sure if I'm going to store all my Pokemons on there or not
As far as I could tell for Kirby Battle Royale, it was "Ver. 3.0" update that granted me Mirror/Sleep abilities, not Spotpass.
Scarescraper in Dark Moon can be played single-player.
Not to mention in local multiplayer, too!
Glad to know about Dragon Quest 7! I would have been very disappointed when I found that out too late.
Cool! The final story related tablet in particular is great. Made the ending much better to me.
@@FromTheVoidGames I'm super dedicated to playing DQ7 now until I get it! It's a weird little game! I love the way the main character looks.

Any word from Square Enix about this?
Since Capcom is shutting down everything as well I’m wondering about SQE..
I did not mention this, so thanks for this comment. I'll familiarize myself with this particular problem and add it to the pinned comment soon!
Only current save file but you don’t have to place them once they’ve been sent to you.
@@FromTheVoidGames Rest in Peace
Not that I didn’t work hard and I did a lot of personal research but I am terrible at editing and was capturing low quality footage on my lunch breaks lol
But either way your videos are definitely more comprehensive than mine was and I have to respect your dedication
Cool, this is an important correction, I appreciate it! Have added it to the pinned comment.
The darkness challenge I remember being very fun! I hate the time trials. I had to do that solo and I won with seconds left after many attempts.
But I always hate time trials. More daring players will enjoy them, I'm sure.
I salute your passionate work. Thank you for giving us such detail informations
Glad to be of service Chanvincent!

Awesome, glad to know I could be of service and with a good amount of games too!
It would be nice if Capcom allowed the MH3U (Wii U) and 4U (3DS) servers to stay up.
Also, thanks for letting me know about the Samurai Warriors Chronicles spotpass.
My pleasure joe! That one was surprising to me too! 🤣
Yeah it's sad, though perhaps online servers maintained by the community might pop up for certain games.
Thanks again for this Arthur, tbh I thought all of these features were already gone so last year due to one of your videos I spent a good day downloading everything to an SD card. The Fire Emblem content was the most important to me, was complicated having to get so far into some of the games before being able to access the eShop through the game
My pleasure Dorian! Yeah, Fire Emblem once again is the most meaningful in this video, that game got a lot of online attention from Nintendo.
Awesome video, as always!
And it’s just like you said, I couldn’t fund anyone besides you who did a meaningful video and deep dive.

Cool! Glad you found this interesting. Let us know abot Kirby if you can!
Thanks for doing this! Great work and it is much appreciated!
Thank you for your service.
Thanks for the tip on Xenoblade. I may do this myself actually if I find the time in the next few months.
As you requested, I would like to share some of my knowledge with primarily the Sonic Games on the Wii-U/3DS
Sonic Generations 3DS - has Onlline Leaderboards & Versus mode (That can be played locally) Unsure if there's any completionist aspects that can't be done through StreetPass. Can someone confirm?
Mario & Sonic at the 2012 London Olympic Games and 2016 Rio Games (Both 3DS) - Online Leaderboards
Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games Wii-U - A LOT of people forget about this game lol It has online leaderboards as well as (just) 4 playable events online.

Brain Age: Concentration Training also has SpotPass features and also achievements. It may well be that some achievements are even tied to SpotPass but I'm not sure.

If I got the DLC from Fire Emblem Awakening and SMT Devil Survivor 2 via SpotPass, can I have access on this content with another save file?
For devil survivor no afaik.

Actually, most of the kid icarus together mode achievements can be obtained by playing with bots, though I believe there are a couple locked behind playing far away mode, or online
I see. So a completionist will still be affected if I got that right. Thanks for the correction! Will add it to the pinned comment now.
Happy New Year to you too!
Than You for this video 👍 awesome work 🔥🔥🔥 time fly so fast - first eShop and now online on this systems. I’m glad I had have a chance to played it myself 👌
Yeah, this feels so soon. 3DS is rather recent in my head, lol.
@@thanksbetotap Hey! Thanks so much for the response. That’s unfortunate about Awakening, I’m hoping there is some preservation effort for it.
One of the only perks to getting into the 3DS late lol
Thanks for continuing to be the best video game channel on RUclips 👍
As a completionist that has very little time at hand for some time, I outright hate that they take away the possibility to 100% some games without offering any alternative solution!
There is hardly any chance I will find the time to complete everything I want to in time before the servers close so I will have to admit to keeping these games as thorns in my side...😢
@@CardmanOfficial yeah that would be dope!
Yeah, this sucks. Hurray for emulation that can even replicate online stuff like this. It's awesome.

Thanks!
I really don't know. I intend to jailbreak one day, but want to do that in a separate system. So that will have to wait a little. 😅
Ok, so Mario vs DK Tipping Stars is also offline on 3DS because that was connected to Miiverse as well.
No downloading levels anymore.
Sub Wars hasn't been connecting for months. It's likely never coming back.
