- Let's review the Kaweco Piston Sport AL. It is a piston filling fountain pen with a metal body. It is a great pocket pen. We'll also compare this Kaweco fine steel nib to Pilot's fine and medium nibs.
I love this pen. I bought mine with the 32ml "royal blue" ink included and it works like a charm. As you mentioned, the nib is wetter (compared to my Lamy Vista pen)
Great review.
I know I’d like this pen if I got one but I simply cannot justify its cost. The lowest price i can find at the moment is $140 but I’d rather get a Pilot 92 which even costs less.
I bought one of these a little while ago. It's a nice pocket pen, although I found the threads on the section to be a little rough, and for the price I paid (A$246), I would have like it to have a gold nib. I give it 7/10.
I just got a piston Sport. I had an AL Sport with a great stub nib. My only beef was limited converter capacity.
The Piston Sport solves that. It's pretty much a perfect pocket pen.
One minor thing is the cap posts with noticeable friction against the blind cap. It's secure and doesn't wiggle, but it doesn't slide into place like my AL Sport. That also makes it possible to loosen the blind cap on un-posting. The answer there is to add a tiny bit of twisting effort clockwise when pulling the cap off the back of the pen.
that issue has happened to me twice now. To get the blind cap out of the cap I had to unscrew the finial cap and poke through the cap top. A bit frustrating, but a great pen otherwise.
@@timeconstrained2400 Interesting. Was the cap off-center? I was able to thread the blind cap back on the pen by "posting" the cap and twisting it.
thanks...I never thought if that method, I'll try that nect time because I'm sure it will happen again.
I love my Steel Spot so this one is definitely on my want-list! I’m slightly put off by my Lilliput which is less reliable, and the common view on social media that Kaweco nibs are “a bit hit and miss”. Any thoughts?
Difficult to say. My Piston Sport is an amazing writer, but it still hard starts at the beginning of the day. The regular Sport I owed wasn't too my liking, only because it was a broad nib. Lovely pens, but it depends a lot on personal preference.
I like Kaweco nibs. This would make a great work pen. Seems a little pricey, though.
