    Thank you --- I was waiting for this after the unboxing! Very nice review, and the weight comparison was useful to lots of people, I'm sure.
    You didn't say it explicitly, but I got the sense that the piston filler pen holds more ink than the cartridges and converter. Is this so? As I said in a comment on the unboxing video (to which you graciously replied) and you said here, the converter can be clumsy to use. It also has a pretty limited ink supply, especially if us big-handed folks don't get it completely filled up.
    A sweet looking pen for sure!

    • @HemingwayJones
      @HemingwayJones  5 месяцев назад +1

      I didn't say it because I couldn't find the stats on it! But yes, in my opinion, it holds more than the cartridges. Everything holds more than their converter. The most important thing is that it is easy to use. I should have said more about this. Thanks!

    Very nice pen. It has no bad habits, the nib is a great performer, and the piston fill gives it the capacity lacking in a converter Sport. As soon as I find a stub nib unit listed I'm going to replace the medium nib I ordered. There's nothing wrong with the nib. It's... Fence... Grass... Ooh, greener over there...

    I bought one. My nib/feed unit wasn't seated. It drooled ink. I had to screw in the nib unit into the grip section with o-ring. Now the nib unit won't unscrew to change nibs. Also need to retune the nib. If you're feed floods with ink something is wrong.

      @@HemingwayJones Oh yes. I fixed it. In fact, I was out with it while watching piping plovers on Winthrop Beach this morning. I added a seal underneath the top cap finial to better keep the nib wet. I don't trust anodized aluminum threads to make a good air tight seal. I enjoy your videos, there's a lot of production value that goes into them. Cheers, Dave

  • @jcortese3300

    • @SiennaArtsandCrafts
      @SiennaArtsandCrafts 5 месяцев назад

      I agree! I have the bronze for sketching and chose the b nib , however it was my first Kaweco and I think I would choose a fine or medium nib if I buy another, the broad is great on A2 or larger sketching paper but very wet. A rainbow one would be so perfect! . Happy sketching!
      The brass sketch up is lovely for outdoors sketching, people who reviewed it on cult pens said it's too soft for writing, guess they didn't think about German engineering, you get what they describe, a lovely dark soft lead. And it doesn't break like charcoal sticks do in my backpack! The bad reviews made me buy it as being an artist I wasn't wanting to write with a pencil and hard graphite is too pale for my style of expressionistic drawing! I recommend them both. The brass and bronze are beautiful!

    Thanks for the review, and especially for including the visual and weight comparisons to the other Sports. I have an Art Sport in Pebble Blue, which I find beautiful, but a touch light and short. I also have a Brass Sport that I love, but I wish it had a larger capacity. I also used to have a Bronze Sport, and I may yet buy another, but I did find it a bit too heavy. The Kaweco Piston-filler is the highest priority on my to-buy list. Pistons are my favorite filling mechanism, and I've been waiting for a new Sport with one for quite a while.

    I fully agree with your comments about this Kaweco piston filler Sport fountain pen. They seem to have done their best in terms of design and quality control. The nib is indeed way smoother and wetter than similar nibs in my other Kaweco Sports, Dia II or Perkeo pens. I might like better the nib on my recently purchased Kaweco Art Sport or even in my Kaweco Liliput, but the nib on the piston filler is definitely more smooth and wetter.

    This new Kaweco fountain pen with piston mechanism is a charming and coherent continuation of the Sport series. The design is an absolute success, but it has one flaw that surprises me.
    The dimensions of the new Kaweco are identical to those of the regular Sport model, with one exception: the section goes deeper into the cap. On the regular Sport model, it measures 3.7 cm, while on the Sport Piston, it measures 4.3 cm. For this reason, the fountain pen is 6 mm shorter.
    This inexplicable fact reduces writing comfort, giving the strange impression that something is wrong.
    That's very unfortunate...

    £130 for a pen that's very similar to their other ones is quite a lot. I also prefer to fill ink cartridges with syringes so I'm not that bothered about the piston aspect. I do like the integrated clip though.

    Kaweco is like eating chips,you can't just have one.
    I fear that before long I'll be decorating my Kaweco Sports with washi tape.

      The piston filler is the first Kaweco I've purchased. Following your analogy, it taught me I do not like chips.

    Bravo on the broad nib. I don’t care if it shoots rainbows out of the nib. Over priced, but people are paying the toll more Ower to kaweco. Maybe there are lots of r and d costs to recover. I am guessing in 3 years I can pick up a used model for 80. Okay I lied if it shot rainbows I’d buy for 146

    Kaweco doing things better than Lamy, with different materials, and even new filling mechanisms. Lamy just different colors...

    Sigh, if only they had a non-clip version (aware that it can be removed, but that leaves an unsightly gap).

    What a smart looking pen, as an artist i usually take my bronze one out , but im afraid to use the eye dropper method in its bronze body , I worry the chemicals in my ink and the bronze alloy will react after reading on a subreddit that it can change the ink and stain the brass, the Kaweco converter doesn't hold enough ink for my lager sketches, I think I might have to buy this Piston filler!

      Thank you for answering me! I bought the Kaweco bronze after watching your review. Also because I love bronze everything!

      Also, as a fellow artist, it would be lovely to meet your wife and as I'm guessing she is also extremely cultural I think it would make a brilliant live stream. If you already did one I look forward to finding it. I love your sports jackets too! As a woman of a certain age and British it would be nice to get some fashion tips from another vintage style lady? ❤

    Great video HJ! I’ll be honest and say though that this pen at this price just isn’t for me. Feels a little overpriced and like Kaweco is profiting off their name and the hype around this pen.
    I’ll also say that I miss the charm that I usually get with your videos. Some historical context along with music and great b-roll interspersed throughout the video was missing here. I know it’s more of a pen review but even those come with some HJ flair! Great video regardless, all the best.

      @@HemingwayJones yes, I did watch your video. Twice in fact, making sure I felt the same after your suggestion of watching your video. I still feel the same. I guess I was missing the charm some of your other videos have like your review of the bronze sport, or the FWP ink you reviewed more recently. I know you had historical context at the beginning and the rest was the pen review but usually there are cuts that go back and forth and I just kinda missed that.
      Just my honest opinion from an audience member who has watched nearly all your videos and replays of the live shows.

    "Pocket pens" don't do much for me, too small and very limited ink capacity. If you're going to carry a pen go ahead and carry a full size pen, trust me, they fit in your pocket.
