Excited for you to hear Patrick’s take on what it’s like being in a relationship with someone in medicine, and how he navigates the long work hours, my meltdowns, etc. ✨🥹
Question, what music does he listen to or play because the small bits that you share are so beautiful it just lifts my spirits and is so stimulating to the ear 🥰❤
The primary relationship that exists when one of the people is in medicine is a unique thing. My husband was attracted because of my profession. He gave me a balance I desperately needed. He already understood the hours the missed holidays and the sacrifices. I see love in ur eyes Rachel and am very happy for u. To find that right person is tough but to find them when u have a career in medicine is rare. All my best. Balance will keep u both grounded and can bring u a long and joyful life.
Hi Rachel, do you realize you literally ooze love in this video when you look at him, it's just poring from your eyes and I find it absolutely endearing. Best wishes for a wonderful 2024 and bless both your hearts.
I like this guy. He seems pure and this video helps me. Post breakup after my ex left me for “studying too much”. Im undergrad at UCSD. Trying to pursue a career in medicine. It takes time. I wish my ex girlfriend had the same level of understanding as this guy does for your career path. It really makes a difference when you have a supportive partner.
I can't even imagine how tough it is to be in a relationship when you're studying and doing medicine. So much sacrifice. The fact that you two were able to navigate those tough waters is impressive. It takes a specific person to be patient with anyone doing an intense field like medicine.
I love how supportive and understanding your boyfriend is. I hope you never forget how big of an impact you can have on your patients' lives. I still remember meeting my surgeon right before going into emergency surgery. He made me feel so safe. He took amazing care of me during and after surgery. He saved my life.
The way I started FANGIRLING when I saw you guys at the Drawing Room... I was literally there with my friend sitting at the 2-person table in front of the Christmas tree on Dec 21. My optometry school is the Illinois College of Optometry and I live in Chicago! And I've been watching your videos since I was a sophomore in undergrad and you were starting med school. Like truly, I started jumping up and down and shouted for my mom to come see. Love you Rachel!!
Rachel! It's still so surreal to watch your videos navigating residency when I've been watching you since OMS-I. Currently rewatching those videos as I am in my 1st year of DO school!
I love how you shine when Patrick is by your side! and you GIGGLE! the cutest. I'm honestly so happy I found your videos. I'm thankful your christmas shifts were quiet. thank you for bringing us so much content. you worked hard, rest a lot!
This was so helpful and true in every way especially as I am in medicine who is dating someone not in medicine. Yes, they are not going to understand what I’m going through (that’s what other medicine friends are for) but my partner brings me so much stability and the opposite of the chaos I deal with at work, which is honestly so much better than coming home and having to relive the trauma by talking about it. It was a long journey for me to accept that I am allowed to (and should) have a life outside of medicine that is completely opposite of who I am at work and that doesn’t mean I like medicine any less ❤
Thank you for discussing this topic!! My husband’s schedule (last year of residency THANK GOD) can just get busy and ever-changing, which is the hardest part. But I absolutely love you all talking about creating a space where you can discuss the hardships of residency while making room for things outside of residency. This is such an important topic!! ❤
You look so happy even amongst your stress. Finding a partner who gets you is so important. I spent 10 years on the road in the music industry. I see lots of similarities in the struggles and the joys in my relationship
Your videos save me from procrastination on my last bits of high school homework. Your determination and dedication inspires me. These videos push me to my dream of becoming a neurologist in pediatrics
Awwww!!!! Thank you for sharing these moments with us and your talk with him!!! I'm also so glad and thankful that you're okay from that incident and also that you have such a sweet and supportive relationship!!!!! 💗💗💗💗💗💗
You have a beautiful relationship going. Very happy for both of you. All of your hard work in medical school is now all of your hard work in your residency but your passion for what you do shows and your patients are blessed to have you. One day you and Patrick will be able to look back on your residency and say we made it and it was worth it. You are doing amazing!🤩
I loved this video!! The way you and Patrick communicate and the pure love that radiates from the both of you while watching this video is amazing 🫶🏼 so happy you found each other and wishing you the very best in 2024! 🎉
I’m so glad for you to have someone special in your life. We all need someone to add to our lives and make us better and just be there for us! I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and I hope you have a great New Year!
You both seem so happy! so much love and support in this video.. Wishing you nothing but the best Rachel. Hoping this year brings you and Patrick many fun opportunities and is filled with peace and happiness ❤️✨
Oof I absolutely love seeing and hearing you both talk about your relationship and managing the stressors of medicine together ❤Also, I think it's a very telling sign when you take so much pride in your home and your partner elevates it 🥰
Omg I haven’t even finished the video but I LOVE you and Patrick together! This feeds my heart seeing you happy! I also wanted to ask what black puffer jacket do you wear? It’s so cute!!! ❤ so so happy for you Rachel ✨💓
This was a great video, I love the different perspective-you inspire me every day. I’m an MS3 in Jersey *crossing fingers* to end up in fertility medicine one day. Thank you for sharing your journey!
Dear Rachel, Thanks for all the wisdom you share in your videos! It's easy to feel daunted thinking about my future career in medicine, how I'll balance it with a relationship and friendships and all the little things that make life special. So this video gave me some hope! You and Patrick seem so well-matched and supportive of each other. Also, I adored the editing during the vacation montage, especially with the piano over the top of it. From a second year med student in Western Australia xoxo
Congratulations, Patrick seems very sweet. 😊💙 He seems very intelligent too. Thats an important quality to have in a partner in my opinion. Not just someone who is 'intelligent' on paper (i.e having a degree) but someone who has a lot of interesting opinions and ideas to share.
Hi Rachel! I absolutely loved this video! Would enjoy hearing you break down your postpartum rounding outline more and would love a “what I wish I knew before residency video” it would be so cool as a (hopefully) incoming OBGYN intern
Hi there. Great video! Such a hard concept to explain to the general population but i think yall did great. Dual physician/resident household here (family and surgery) and long distance. We pride ourselves on our communication and always assuming the best intentions in all our actions. So if we can't talk one day because we are on call or can't give the attention to each other person they probably deserve , it's always understanding. It's hard to explain how much that means while you are getting destroyed in residency. Also , I mostly wanted to comment because there is someone impersonating your Facebook profile with your picture and posting on physician groups trying to pitch crypto scams. Just keep an eye out.
I watched u last year long ago i think. And today i was thinking about u for no reason. But most importantly i think about one video where u cried, cause i felt bad too in that moment. Then i come here and see u finish the college and start work. I see u smile now, more then back then. And that's after year even more. While me... nothing fuck. I wish u all the best. And that's it i just wanted to leave this here. Idk why i even come here honestly.
Perhaps Patrick should consider focusing on trying different ways to help you purge stress and relax physically and mentally especially before bedtime. If blowing off steam, lighting changes, or whatever aren't doing this, try more things. Feeling exhausted in the morning is a sign the body didn't sleep properly. It didn't spend enough time in each stage or spent too much time dreaming. I realize this is a difficult challenge for resident physicians. Suggest you and your coworkers verbally correct each other's posture. Our weight should be borne entirely by bone. If shifted to muscles, they become tired and tight unnecessarily expending extra energy that can be conserved or used elsewhere.
Excited for you to hear Patrick’s take on what it’s like being in a relationship with someone in medicine, and how he navigates the long work hours, my meltdowns, etc. ✨🥹

I'm a UK doctor and definitely feel at least 50% of people in my med school married another medic. There's definitely positives for it.
Patrick has an excellent wholesome sense of humor, I can tell Rachel was attracted to his emotional intelligence. I love this for them!
