Can you do case study videos? Like talk about an interesting case you had and then go into the pathology/treatment? That’d be so cool and educational!!
Hi Rachel, thank you for being an inspiration! Could you also talk about your study plan/time management plan - like how you break up your day especially with your hectic schedule? That would be awesome 😊😊
I love how you take the time to deliver us such good quality content while going through all this hard core working conditions, you got it ! You are doing such an amazing job!
I am sure she is ! It is great to know she found a loving support, it does really help a lot (or at least it works for me, my partner really makes it easier to live with all the stressful environment). Hope you guys have a awesome day ! Sending all good vibes from Switzerland 🤗@@PATRICKLONGMUSIC
this video actually convinced me to go to the gym today im in exam szn in med school rn and i wasnt feeling so depressed but going to the gym put me in a better mood keep making videos please these videos get me through med school ily
Hey love! I work 3-11pm. I woke up today with cervical pain (from my car accident in January 2021) and really didn’t want to go to wOrk today😢. I wanted to stay home, lay down with my heating pad all day and take my narcotic but didn’t want to be stuck making up my weekend. So, here I am at work..on break watching your video. ❤.
Love the videos so much Rachel! An idea I had was interviewing some of your fellow residents, attendings, or nurses about their experiences in OBGYN, what they love about the field, and their path thus far😊
Here’s your reassurance that we love these types of videos, we know you can’t show too much and that’s ok bc you do a great job telling us what’s going on and makes it easy to visualize! I never get sick of these 🫶 thank u for posting
Seeing you all the way back to entering med school to now makes me so motivated to continue working hard in med school. So thank you so much for all the amazing content you give us, seriously
Dear Rachel, it seems to me like you're in some kind of elite seal training school where stress, trauma and split second decisions are the order of the day. As an empathic human being you are certainly suffering as much as anyone can and I can feel it in your videos. May I recommend something that soothes you to fall asleep to, I'm not kidding I sleep to Downton Abbey every night otherwise I can't fall asleep there's something about this program that comforts me and sends me aloft at the mere auditory presence. I agree that no one could have predicted these insane hours that most people couldn't endure for 24 hours let alone for days on end but it seems in the medical profession they expect this of you and I don't know why. All I know is you were meant to be a doctor and no matter the amount of barriers you face you will overcome this, you are strong enough and before you know it you will be done with your residency. I wish I could take it all away but these are the times when you learn the most and somewhere down the road you will be thankful for such hard times because they made you the best doctor you could be. Sending so much love and positive inspiration.
Video Idea: a little segment of quizzing Patrick on medical (obgyn) things! maybe some terms or tools. I know going home and explaining vet things to my boyfriend I dont realize how little he knows, and what has become so normal to me! im there having to dumb down what anesthesia does, and what the endotracheal tube actually does
love the videos! would love to know a bit more about your workouts, also what do you look forward to most on days off and how do you treat yourself after crazy weeks?
You mentioned that all the patients you care for are so thankful for your positive attitude and the comfortable atmosphere you create. I’d love to hear a sit down with me style video on how you converse w patients to let them feel heard and comfortable! Maybe a reenacting skit w ur bf!
Dr. Rachel if you did a video like this please tell us how to overcome the obstacles of Interviewing Patients while being an introvert.. I am an introvert and I tend to be shy which can make talking to people very difficult for me.. I might come off as rude which is not my intention I just don't know how to deal with people 😂so tips on how to be friendly with patients as an introvert will be apreciated
Im on swing shifts right now and i absolutely love having some daytime to enjoy! I prefer day shift but i feel like i cant do anything else on those shifts
I am a dentist working just out of residency and struggle with anxious feelings going to work and after leaving. Can’t seem to keep anxious thoughts at work after ending the day and tend to bring home a lot of negative feelings - stress about patients returning with complaints, problems, unhappy etc. Struggle with being confident as my skill set grows. Seems like everyday is a challenge. Wondering your thoughts and if you feel this way too. Love your videos!
I'm already subscribed to LMNT, but I can also vouch for them! So good, saltier and with more nutrients than a lot of other electrolyte drinks, they're my favorite!
Hi Rachel! In your next sit down video can you touch on how you or your hospital system handles mamas who want to have natural birth, low intervention, and deliver in alternative positions? Also how you feel about that? love youuuuu boss lady lol xoxo
Good for you on staying on top of your gym grind. What all do you put in your smoothies? I saw a brief glimpse of Orgain. I use that also! I like the vanilla & chocolate.
Dr Rachel, although you are a doctor but I think when you think too much about sleep deprivation due to night shifts, it causes you more psychological damage than actual one. Because we are adding further critical load by keep reminding. Regards
Dr. Southard could you help me understand the patients of the babies you deliver? Do they have an OB that they have seen? I was just thinking of my two deliveries and my OB was there for both so Id be interested to know if these patients don't have an OB theyve been working with or how they come into your care. Your videos are great!
I wonder what it’s like to have a perfect jaw line and a non exsistent double chin because if I ever tried to film from a low angle….i would not look this good haha. I love your videos! And appreciate the work you put into them! I’m a nursing student (due to graduate this fall) and these motivate me ☺️
rn here...on nites for 23yrs...at one point I had 3 little kids....HARDEST thing ever...now I'm retired and I hav horrible insomnia from making myself stay up for an unbelievable amount of hrs....ps had a vacuum birth once...10/10 would not recommend!!!! haha
Much admiration for the hard work that you do, must be incredibly demanding and especially on inadequate sleep. It does trouble me hearing the approach to speeding up labour, breaking the amniotic sac. I had a very negative experience from having my water broken just to speed things up, causing premature pushing, having an unwanted epidural, and trauma. I wish no one had rushed me - birth takes its own time unless there is a problem.
Thank you! I’m sorry you had a negative experience. Active management of labor is not a bad thing. And we always ask our patients for permission prior to doing things like an amniotomy.
Can't sleep long? You might want to try some sort supplements or medication. I find 1st gen antihistamines work ok. Htp-5 & L-theanine. Some like melatonin. CBN. If its related to stress or anxiety, benzos or certain antidepressants might help. You do need to be careful if you are getting a racing heart rate or irregular heat rate if you are already in significant acute or chronic sleep debt (think cortisol). Be careful with cardio exercising if you are getting heart related symptoms from sleep deprivation.
As a fellow obgyn resident who works night floats, I recommend that you take melatonin in the morning when you come home from work so you can get 6-7 hours of sleep during the day before you go back to the hospital. I also recommend keeping the same schedule on the weekend/night off so stay up all night to do something fun/chill at home and sleep in the AM even on your day off.
The sleep schedule of sleeping when you can no longer than 2 hours at a time will prepare you for motherhood 😂 I’m hoping motherhood will prepare me for what you’re going through now #silverlining

Keep up the good work! A video of your skin care/recharge video would be cool! Love to see how you recharge
As an idea for a video: reflecting and looking back on the long way you took to be here now, how it feels now looking back at the path)
I would love a video on advice for matching into OB/GYN!

Currently watching this on the treadmill while drinking my LMNT during a study break hahahah

Quiet. Healthcare’s worst word
@@zhuzhupetlover6673 Please explain if you can
@@Bcdf-ei9elbasically when people say quiet it does the complete opposite. It turns into complete chaos very quickly. It basically jinxes things.
