- In this video we talk about all aspects of a Marella Cruise. We sailed with Marella on Discovery 2 to the Caribbean and this video details our experience and what we considered good and bad. We hope we are able to pass on many tips to help people in planning their Marella cruise. We had our first cruise with Marella Explorer, it was a fantastic experience, we were well looked after and could not fault Tui or Marella. We had an excursion at every port, these were well run and ran like clockwork. We did not have any problems with flights or the transfers to the ship from the airport, as for the food we found it good.
Marella should definitely be a company you should consider. I think they have a lot of misconception about their cruises and i have to say we were also very impressed overall, yes there are faults but this can be said of any cruise company. Thanks for this great vlog,I must say this is about the best informative vlog I've seen about a Marella cruise.( and I've watched lots and lots over time)First of all we did a cruise and stay in September 2019,sailing out of Corfu around the Greek Islands on Discovery.We loved it! So this September we are booked to sail on Discovery 2 for 2 weeks around the western Med.because we love the Discovery ships..You are so right about how nice your fellow passengers are,we made friends with 3 other couples who we still keep in touch with,and have remained good friends with them.and one couple are joining us on our next cruise,plus we are going with our close friends,a lovely couple,who have never sailed before,so I will show them this great vlog to show them what a fab time awaits them,especially the food venues and restaurants,as we all love good food as in snacks and dining..We paid for the premier drinks package on our last cruise,and now know we don't need it for our next cruise,and even tho' we had a fridge in our cabin,we didn't drink all the water what was supplied to the cabin,( i'm not a big water drinker..more juices and coffees)Thanks again guys for this vlog 😎🛳

We are a fairly new channel so comments like yours give us a real boost that we are heading in the right direction. We too are doing our next cruise on Voyager with friends, will be a first cruise for them also. Think cruising with friends will be great fun. I have heard many times that people have met on a cruise and still keep in touch. Think people who cruise are more inclined to want to reach out and chat with people, we found our cruise on Discovery 2 so friendly. I am sure you will have a great cruise on Discovery 2, i think its a beautiful ship and will be even more perfect if they refurbish those cabins this year. I think its a shame that there isn't fridges in all of the rooms but i don't think its as much as an issue as i first thought because the thermal flasks are great at keeping drinks cold. We went on Discovery in April for a 2 week cruise around the tropical shores ,Barbados ,puerto rico ,st vincent etc loved every minute .Best value for money you can get .No waiting through customs at Barbados ,straight on the bus from the tarmac .
Booked our next one on Discovery 2 around the Med for next year .

We’ve just come off Explorer. First time with Marella and we loved it. Greek islands. Now there weren’t enough power points on our ship - we always pack a 4 gang that has 2 usb ports too. Oo we had a fridge. Looks a nice cabin. It looks a lovely ship. Some great tips in this vid. We didn’t get into surf and turf unfortunately. Interesting to hear your thoughts. We are going to do a full ship review for Explorer in about 4 weeks, we love how you’ve put this video together. Great tips about the islands - it was the same on explorer. Ours knew how we liked our wine - consistent!! We agree with the Italian in the main dining too!
We didn’t know that about the steak!! Bad times. Marella all inclusive drinks package is amazing! Yup we took our chilli bottles - best move we made. The show team work hard!! The shows were mixed - most were excellent afew were a bit weird. We didn’t visit karaoke - that sounds amazing with a live band. Great review chaps!! Cheers from us 🍻
Not been on Explorer but will be going on Voyager in November which is very similar, so will be good to see the difference, we loved the Discovery so hope it matches up. I always take a 4 way socket due to medical equipment and needing the extention, but i think the cruise ships frown on them being used. Biggest downside for me was that the only plugs are located a long way from the bed which is not good if you have medical equipment to be used at night. Without this i think we would have managed. Really appreciate your kind comments about the video and how useful it was, as a new channel comments like yours give us a great boost. Great video, thanks. One thing I would say. We have done four Marella cruises (doing our 5th on Sunday). We always take the £90 two week wifi package, and it ALWAYS lasts for the fortnight. BUT….you must log out every time you have finished or it just disappears. We made this mistake the first time, as they dont make it very clear. So, buy it, I used it for at least an hour every day, but always log out immediately on finishing.

We probably won't do the internet package again, i did everything i should have done to preserve it and could find no explanation why it went so quick, my partners didn't last much longer either. @@midatravel We did enjoy our first cruise. We did the canaries last Decemeber leading upto Christmas. Our original cruise was cancelled during Covid which was the Carribean transatlantic.
I'm looking to book a holiday at the end of March for our Silver Anniversary and had plumped for Egypt 5 star. Then I remembered we'd talked about cruises but the only one I could find that worked for us timewise was the Marella Caribbean or Far East one. I have been concerned about the whole Benidorm at sea and rip off on board, and the thought of not having a window for 2 weeks, but your video has gone a long way to persuade me to go for the Cruising option. Hi Neil, thank you very much for watching and for taking the trouble to comment. We have just come back from our 2nd Marella cruise to the Caribbean and loved it again. We are putting out a 15 part diary over the next few months which will cover everything about cruising with Marella to the Caribbean so hope that will help too. Part one is out now. During both cruises we saw no bad or drunken behaviour just people enjoying themselves and having a lot of fun. We have found cruisers on Marella cruises to be so much friendlier and wanting to chat and of course the hard working staff still take the time to always greet you with a smile. We've just booked on the Discovery for Christmas sailing on 14th December in an outside cabin on deck 2. Would have preferred an inside one a little higher up but none available. Absolutely can't wait as I've never been away for Christmas b4. Your review has been really helpful, esp re: the steak house. Will definitely try the Italian for steaks 👌
We have paid for the AI drinks package as we found it really good value compared to the P&O cruise we've booked for next year. We'll just pay for our drinks on the Azura as i don't think we can justify the extra £100 a day 😱. You have a new subscriber 😍 x
Hi Kay, thank you so much for watching our video and for your kind comments. The icing on the cake is your sub so thank you for joining our channel. Sadly we did not get to enjoy the 'Celebration'. Discovery 2 is a lovely ship, nice size, very easy layout and some very impressive and beautiful areas. I really hope that they have refurbed the cabins so it will be even better for you but we still loved our outside cabin, we had our beds split so i could get access to the large window and made the room very spacious, fascinated me being so close to the sea! Storage and space were excellent.
We had not been away before for Christmas and really had no idea what to expect, hence our Christmas on board video. We both absolutely loved it, no stress and had the perfect Christmas day on the beach and in the rainforest of Costa Rica. Unforgettable! I didn't even mind being baked in sunshine all day! 🌞 Like you we booked the premium drinks package and i definitely agree it represents good value, it is definitely where Tui trumps over any other cruise company that we have researched. We did find that the non premium was so extensive that on this occasion we are not upgrading and again its a big plus for Tui/Marella.

I know what you mean re: the dated cabins on decks 2 & 3. At the end of the day we won't be in them much. I really didn't want to be so close to the sea though 🤣🤣.

In my experience Marellas two discovery ships offer a much better cruise than the Explorer or Voyager ships. thanks for the post fellers much appreciated.

Hi Neil, thanks for watching and for your lovely comment. Have just checked Latitude 53 evening menu. It shows 2 of the 7 starter choices are Gluten free and 1 is gluten free option available. There are 7 mains and 3 of them are gluten free. I think you will find that although your choices are more limited there will be options for you. We will be doing a video on all of the dining locations soon and will show menus where we can which would give you a good idea. Hope this helps. 🙂

There are smoking areas on the ship so i think it is the only place that you would be allowed to vape. We cannot recall seeing anything in relation to vaping for sale on the ship, hope if someone else reads this in the know they will confirm what we believe. We only booked Marella because they had a great itinerary for the Western Caribbean, we were very sceptical but have to say we were very surprised by how much we enjoyed it, so much so we are going with Marella again soon to do the Eastern Caribbean. Been on the dreamliner a few times,drinks a free think he meant to say drink, every time on them only had 1 and had to ask for it.
We have found that they tend to bring you one round not long after take off, you tend to get a drink wtih your meal, but yes you are quite right, drinks are free but you do tend to have to ask. 🍹🍹🍹🍹

We find the staff in our local tui shop really informative and always willing to help in any way they can. We are lucky or Tui do a great job training their staff. 🙂
Hi there, fact or fiction question, because everything on faceybook is true ...With Marella cruises do they search luggage for and confiscate any booze you bring aboard when boarding. P&O allow 1ltr per person ordid soon our last cruise, but then their drinks package is not woth paying for in my humble opinion. Good thing about Marella is the cost includes a really good drink package as standard and seem to have less sea days. Pead me off on our last P&O, asked for double bed configuration on booking, but got twin set up. Booking of Mr and Mr, went to customer services to point out equality act law and honour our booking, fell of muted ears. Going P n O early next year with same configuration request and looking into first time Marella Voyager later on in 24.for one of my many birthdays a year.
We never thought about taking our own booze, think the Marella inclusive drinks package makes it unnecessary as there is so much choice. Definitely a big big plus for Marella and their included drinks. Think if i was sailing with P&O i would not buy their drinks package but just pay as i go, i think i would also make sure i took my allowance on board with me. I am not aware Marella searched or confiscated any booze but do not really know their policy as i didn't feel need to take anything. We asked for single setting for beds and when we arrived they were set us as double but a quick phone call and they were changed back very quickly, so impressed with that service. We are sailing on Voyager in November so look out for the videos, definitely like some of the changes they have made especially in relation to the food options. Think i need to take a leaf out of your book and start insisting on multi birthdays each year! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Do you have any info on cost of shore excursions on Marella Cruises.
Hi Tom. Thanks for watching. We have got 2 video's on our playlist of our Caribbean cruise which show the range of excursions available at the ports we visited. It might not be where you are cruising but it might give you some idea of pricing. Personally i found the excursions we did with Marella a little short and rushed. They are pricey but that brings you the security that the ship won't leave without you should any problem occur. Excursions on our cruise ranged from about £35 to £180. The average price was about £80. We would always look for private tour options first and just make sure that we are back at least 2hrs before the ship leaves. Great video. I am in the USA and i want to book a tui cruise would it be best for me to call a Tui travel agent? Or do it on the internet. What is the best cabin to book don’t want a balcony cabin.
Thanks for watching. I would suggest it would be fine booking online as you are in USA and only call an agent if you have problems, should be straight forward though. @@theresasearight200 Believe the outside rooms on Discovery 2 are only on decks 2 and 3. We had an outside room on deck 3 mid ship which was perfect.

Can you get off the boat when it goes into the port ??
Hi Thomas, As long as its a scheduled stop as part of the cruise then yes you can get off the ship. You normally have to wait for announcement that exit is open and make sure you know what time to be back onboard, this is usually well advertised in cruise news or around ship. Hope that helps. 🙂

Thanks for watching. We can only comment on our experience and the Outside cabin on deck 3 definitely had no fridge. Not sure about the other cabin types though. We loved Discovery 2 so hope you get to experience it one day soon. 🚢🚢🚢🍹🍹🍹🌞🌞🌞

Marella Explorer had a fridge in the room also a glass shower screen.

Kora La meal on Explorer was far superior to Kora La on Discovery2. Same meal ordered on both but Discovery2 was a let down
Hi Maureen, thanks for watching and for your comment. We have just sailed on Marella Voyager and the food at Kora La was so much better than Discovery 2. Would appear that maybe something is not right in Discovery 2's kitchen and should be looked at. Its not cheap and therefore no excuses when its so good on their other ships. 🤔🤔🤔

I have often wondered why people waste their time wandering about the likes and dislikes of gay people. Last cruise we met 2 other gay couples, we met many many more straight couples and also lots of older couples, surely the better question would have been 'Why are cruises so popular'? 🤔
You make a good point but i do think that cruising is popular full stop so a bit of a strange question in the first place. 🤔
