    Really enjoying watching. I am looking to book a special birthday not until 2026, but can't make up my mind whether to go for Voyager or Discovery 🤔. I have cruised before and always uses to like grab a coffee somewhere quiet at the end of the evening and watch the world sail by, is there anywhere on the ship to do this? x

    • @midatravel
      @midatravel  Месяц назад

      Hi Helen. This is not an easy one. The Voyager is my favourite but next year Discovery is changing to adults only so that could be a big factor if you would prefer no kids. Discovery is easier to find your way round and coffee port is nice place for coffee, not sure what time they are open till in evenings. I like Voyager as there is more to do and I liked to grab a coffee in the mornings and go and sit on the back of the ship, think it’s called the Summerhouse. Coffee port on the Voyager is also bigger and in my opinion nicer. In Spain at moment so not able to get exact timings for you. Sure you will find that special spot on either ship. Hope this helps.

    Thanks again lads, just got back last week from the voyager and I think you are spot on with the kitchens, took us a couple of visits to get used to and the drinks machines were so frustrating. We are on the explorer 2 in September which we have done before and found the food better than on Voyager. One thing that disappointed was the small nightclub/casino, absolutely tiny in our opinion but the squid and anchor was better on the outside deck because it was deeper and had glass so the view was much better. Swings and roundabouts I guess. We found the exchange a bit marmite i.e. my wife loved it and me not so much. Kora la is the stand out for us as it was on explorer 2. Amazing to hear about reception staff as we had the same issue on the very last day, they wouldn't put apiece of paper in the bin for me as I had touched it! The fact that one of them had touched it and given it to me made me feel that I was somehow unclean and they were not. Didn't let it spoil our experience though. Looking forward to your review of explorer as we are already planning for next year.

      Hi Steve, thanks so much for not only watching our vlogs but for taking the time to leave such useful comments. Its also really nice for us to have someone comment on their return as its good for us to know that we have probably reviewed it right even though we hope people don't experience the same negatives as we do and always enjoy reading other peoples experiences. We are doing the Explorer in a couple of weeks so looking forward to comparing it with Discovery 2 and Voyager. We thought the food on Voyager was so much better than Discovery 2, especially the speciality restaurants so hope its same on Explorer. We also loved The Exchange, but its strange how it divides opinion, its a love or hate thing. Its a shame you also had such a negative experience with reception, its quite shocking how they treated you but it did not come as a surprise to us. Definitely an area that Marella should be looking at and maybe giving some additional training. We find it so strange when staff everywhere else are so wonderful. Looking forward to Explorer and hope we come back with lots of great content to share. Thanks again for all your support. 😎😎😎🚢🍹🌞

    You guys seem lovely. I was curious about marella cruises as I normally do celebrity, which are lovely, but are getting outrageous in terms of cost. Nice to get a viewpount from others especially from guys like us 😉. Cheers x

      Hi Mark, thanks for your lovely comments. We sailed with Celebrity 14yrs ago and although we enjoyed it, we did not get the cruising bug. I was hesitant about trying Marella but when i delved deeper i found so many more good reviews and of course no one can match them for value for money, especially with the all inclusive drink package that comes free. We have loved our previous 2 cruises with Marella and although we won't give up our land based holidays or city breaks i do feel i have the cruising bug in me now. I love the fact that passengers are so much friendlier and a much better age range. I find that although they lack some of the amazing features on some of the bigger cruise ships i don't really want them. Marella are all about fun and yes you will find faults, not everything is perfect. Food on Discovery was mediocre but food on Voyager was excellent. Will always recommend them but just hope everyone has the same experience that we have. Always happy to help if any questions. 🚢🌞🍹🕶🙂

    We also loved Marella Voyager, also loved the new concept in Kitchens. I don’t like ‘help yourself’ buffets with everyone diving into dishes . Much nicer for the waiter to serve you, you can have as much as you like but no one else has been diving into the food.

      Nice to hear from other people who have enjoyed cruising with Marella on Voyager. I think i am in the minority with not liking the kitchens and i will be interested to see if i still feel the same on returning to the buffet on Explorer next month. Always good to hear alternative opinions, after all we are all so different in our likes and dislikes. Thanks for watching. 🙂🙂🙂

    Thank you for this information, we are going on our first cruise in August. Can you please include in a video about Wifi and is it worth getting a Wi-Fi package? And how do you use the app if you haven’t got Wi-Fi. Best wishes Mandy

    • @midatravel
      @midatravel  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Mandy, Thanks for watching, you must be getting excited now, not long for you to wait. We have got a video about wifi on our Marella Discovery 2 playlist. I guess it depends where you are sailing and how many sea days you have. If it essential to have internet whilst on a sea day then the only option is the ships internet. If you are in the Caribbean or far East then we would recommend an esim, a lot cheaper but can only be used when in Port or land. With Europe most of our phone providers have free roam to Europe so you will be fine on land but again if you need it on a sea day you will have to get the ships internet package. I would advise taking a smaller package first to see how that lasts for you. Connection can be frustrating. Happy to help if you need it. Mike & Dave 🚢😎🌞💃🙂

      Hi Derek, i think its a cracking ship for your first cruise. A little harder to navigate than the Discovery classes but you soon get used to it. We personally like the smaller ship and Voyager is probably our favourite of Marella ships. Sure you will love it. 🚢🚢🍹🍹😎😎🌞🌞

    • @midatravel
      @midatravel  6 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks for watching and your lovely comments. One of the things we didn't mention but we definitely love is the more relaxed attitude to dress. Dress shorts and a shirt or polo are absolutely acceptable for all restaurants. The only time we made a bit more effort was for the dress to impress night but it is not compulsory. Have a great cruise. 🚢🚢🚢🌞🌞🌞🍹🍹🍹😎😎😎

    • @midatravel
      @midatravel  Месяц назад +1

      @@sandrajones2172 Hi Sandra. Thanks for watching and for your lovely comments. Upgrades are really difficult to get as quite often there are very limited amount of rooms left. We did ring up tui a day before one of our last cruises to see if they would give us a cheap upgrade but no deal to be had. We also went into our local shop as well but even they were unable to do anything. What I would perhaps do is one of 3 things, do as we did and ring up a couple of days before and explain your special occasion and ask the question about an upgrade, visit your local shop or even go and ask at reception as soon as you get on the ship. Highly unlikely but don't ask you don't get.

    we opted for an outside window cabin very disappointed we got a porthole cabin like a dark cave. Theses rooms should not be priced the same as window cabins they are very inferior. we are nurses and are use to early morning rises but did not expect on holiday to be awakened between 6 am and 7 am comimg into dock due to shuddering and noise our cabiin number was 5000 avoid at all cost, The only positive was the amazing cabin crew maria and tea who kept the cabin spotless and comfortable.

    • @midatravel
      @midatravel  6 месяцев назад

      We were so worried about getting a port hole instead of a square window, it should i think be clearly stated when you book this type room. We have also been lucky with having quiet cabins, that or we are heavy sleepers . Have heard of people having similar issues, did you complain at reception, we know people who were moved but i guess that can only happen if other cabins are available. 💤🚢🍹🌞🙂

      Hi Hilary. Really appreciate your feedback. Happy to take onboard comments and work at improving our content moving forward. I have just re-watched the video and i am happy that the narrative and video's are predominantly about Voyager. I do appreciate that we mention Discovery 2 a lot but this is used as a comparison to help emphasise what we loved on Voyager and what we didn't which was the purpose of the video. Thanks for watching. 🙂

    Great video thank you. My only criticism is that you complain that you have to carry the kettle to the other side of the room to boil it - really complaining about that?

    • @midatravel
      @midatravel  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the nice comment. I guess its hard what to include and what we don't, we always look back at our video's after and remember all the things we missed. We also think that sometimes we were maybe a bit harsh. The kettle is a bit of an issue for me as i do have hand problems so i am very wary of moving a kettle with boiling hot water backwards and forwards from one side of the room to the other, it does come with safety issues for me. I also think that maybe it was more to do with the lack of a plug where the kettle and tea tray was located which for me made no sense. I hope that our enthusiasm for Marella always comes across, the problems in no way have deterred us from sailing with them again. Thanks for watching. 🙂🚢🍹🌞😎😃

      We did the Mediterranean Gem Cruise last month and Surf ‘n Turf and Korela were exceptional. Never tried Silver Spoon though. Kitchen were not a hit with me but never had a problem with drinks or queues. You can use the same plate I the kitchens, just hand it too them and they understand. Nona’s was basic and not great as was the Mexican bar. Only nice thing was the loaded tortillas chips. Latitudes restaurant was the best by far. Our regular waiter, Selwyn (he’s not from Yorkshire, Mumbai) was beyond brilliant and made,our cruise so more special. Snack shack was simple but nice and handy. Don’t bother with the premium drinks package as not worth it at all. Shows were great but singers not as good this time. Staff………awesome, brilliant, great, professional and just all round fab. Great video guys.

    Last time on Marella Cruises we were disappointed at mealtimes in the main restaurant with them using frozen vegetables. What's your thoughts on this?
    Doing the transatlantic in November on the Voyager which is the first time on this ship.
    As an ice cream lover good to hear they have an ice cream parlour.

    • @midatravel
      @midatravel  3 месяца назад +1

      Have to say that it has never really been an issue for us. The only thing i haven't been a fan of is the frozen mushrooms. I would have expected speciality restaurants to be fresh veg but no they were the same mushrooms. I guess a lot of it comes down to storage and how long things will keep fresh between re-stocks. Don't think this is unique to Marella, most cruise ship have same policy so i think its just the way it has to be done. Overall we found the food on Voyager has been by far the best of the 3 Marella ships we have sailed on so hopefully you will find an improvement on your November cruise. Have a fab time and thanks for watching. 🚢😎🌞🍾🍹
