We were on this ship many years ago when it was Splendour of the Seas and also a few years ago as Discovery. In April we are on her again going round Caribbean! Thanks for posting, brings back fond memories.
Thanks for this, going on an Agean cruise in July for the first time with our 15 year old. We were apprehensive around how it would compare to our usual beach holidays but seeing how it is laid out and the variety of bars and entertainment makes me feel a lot better
Cruised when it was splendor of the seas recommended by griends and booked gor yhe Carribbean just seen your vlog ship looks amazing can't wait yo get pn board. Nice to get back to cruising crui number 43
Thank you for a very informative tour. My husband and I are due to sail on the Marella 9th September , we are taking the Eastern Mediterranean cruise. Very excited after watching your video.
Just booked a cruise on this ship today really looking forward to it, sailed on P and O, Princess and Celebrity won't be comparing just looking forward to experiencing another cruiseline.
Looks lovely ...... Reminds me of the Royal Caribbean 'Vision Of The Seas' ship, especially with all the tall windows. I haven't sailed with Marella yet, but I do intend too. Thank you for a great video. 😊 x
Really excellent video, thanks so much for pitting it up. I am thinking of Marella for my next cruise. Surprised at how well appointed this smaller ship is. Looks like I may be making a booking soon, thanks again.
Although we’ve already been on this ship twice we have another one planned for late January 24 so I like to check out the latest videos and came across yours, imagine my surprise when your face popped up , I immediately recognised you as I subscribe to your old man cycling channel , bit strange watching you walking round instead of being on the Gain !
We loved her. She's a lovely ship, great crew and for your 1st cruise, she's a good size ship. You don't often get lost. Strawberry dacquri for me pls? Every night for us, deck 9 under the clock waiting for the film to start. Loved the glass house and deck 4 when it was too hot. We loved the Italian restaurant for our evening meals and the bistro in the afternoon. I can't remember what the restaurants down there were called, but stay tuned and you're about to find out. Lots of great shopping, but stay away from the chocolate on board.
We're on board for the 1st time in Feb 2024 on a 2 weeks Caribbean cruise, so this is very helpful to view. We always do Marella Explorer 2, so am looking forward to this. Pity it doesn't have a 'Flutes' but hey, still looks very good. Thank you for uploading this :)
We have done explorer 2 aswell. I personally think discovery is a more luxurious ship and explorer 2 is laid out better. We did premium drinks and the upgraded prosecco was worth it for my wife. Staff do table service so pushing the button is unnecessary.
How was your caribbean cruise. Me and my partner are booked for our first cruise on December. Is there any tips or advice you could give me for the ship and stops.
Ooo hang on, you’ve been on Marella before. Looking forward to this. It’s interesting to see how different (but the same) the Marella ships are. A lot of people rate the Discovery higher than the Explorer ships. Love the indoor pool on this ship. The show team work so hard on Marella. Great tour and it looks like you had an amazing time. Cheers 🍻
I think I would say the Discovery seems a little more luxurious, but Explorer 2 had slightly better layout and facilities. I thought that Explorer would be exactly the same as Explorer 2, but after watching your vids there are lots of differences- while still all having the same design such as Squid and Anchor etc. We haven't cruised with anyone else. We just love how relaxed it is without the airs and graces other lines "apparently " have. You are right about the show team and all the staff who are so friendly and work hard.
We have been on Marella Discovery ship many times it is our favourite ship we have been on the Marella Explora 2 ship we did enjoy our cruise on the Discovery ship better there was just something about the Explora ship we would not return to but that is just our opinion we do love the discovery ship we do keep returning back to her.
Ana amazing video Darrell. I'm there in 299 days so it's fantastic to see everything ahead of time. How early would you need to get up to get on the adults only veranda? Thus will be quite important for me on my 2 sea days
We never used the adults only veranda. We were there in August (peak time for kids) We didn't feel the kids were annoying or that noticeable. We used the boat deck as it was very quiet.
Not sure of prices at the moment. We rarely do the excursions. We prefer to make own travel arrangements. In Italy we went to Piza on the train from Livorno for under £10. The same excursion would have been about £40. The only time we do them is if it sees a lot easily. We did excursions in Rome, New York and Lanzarote. Other than those we get off the boat and explore. The red bus tours are available in most cities look out for those.
Thanks a million. Very informative. About the wifi? I understand that I do not need to pay for wifi to download the TUI app. What about apps not related to the cruise?
You don't need to pay to access the tui app on board. Anything else that requires internet access would require you paying for wifi or waiting until you are in port and jump on some wifi there.
Thanks. Been on Discovery twice, always use steam room which is free (unlike most other cruise lines) but didn't realise adult Verandah was there so I will check it out in Decembee while I'm onboard. P.S. Did you realise Glass House pool becomes a restaurant for dinner ?.
It's expensive to hire the verandas we had an evening meal in the glass house it was lovely & plenty of it we've recently come back home off the Discovery ship she's our favourite ship it was lovely to see our friends for many yrs the band that was on there which was a really nice surprise for us we had no idea they was going to be on the ship when we got on the entertainment that was on was all very good.
The Laundry service on board the ship there is a laundry bag in the wardrobe in the cabin you can fill it the cabin stewards take it to the laundry for it to be washed for you but there is a charge for this service plus there is a pressing of garments service also a charge for this I hope this helps.
There is a laundry service on board there is a laundry bag in the wardrobe in the cabin if you fill it & give it to the cabin cleaners they will take it to the laundry for you there is a charge for this service also there is pressing of garments available at a cost I hope this helps.
I didn't use it so don't know for sure. I imagine it will be same as the shops. We registered a card at the beginning of the cruise and all additional purchased were then charged at the end.
Last time I was on board you purchased 'chips' using your sailcard or for slot machine used sailcard to buy credits at the machine. (I dabbled but hardly broke them bank, ended up £1 in profit after 2 hours of roulette but it was fun 😂) And they hold teaching sessions during most afternoons.
Marella really do have a copy/paste thing going on with their ships, don't they. Also, folks, please don't be wearing your pyjamas/slippers to the restaurants. Not nice.

Thanks - brought back memories of my first cruise in July this year. Fantastic ship - best holiday I’ve ever had.
We have done three cruises now. It is fair to say we are hooked.
What a beautiful ship, so bright and airy inside
We are going on the Explorer at the end of March so another video is due.

Nice cruise. I found out about this ship was because I saw it from the window on carnival celebration.
Was nice to see your video! Two days ago, I was back home from the cruise and were so interesting to go back again in the same boat with your movie 😊
Hope you enjoyed your cruise as much as we did.
Very informative thank you ...saves time exploring the ship and can choose where we would really like to spend our time 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Just come bck early this morning . Lovely great friendly we had a lovely time. 😂😅❤

Thank you so much we are going on this ship in 3 weeks :) Went on Discovery yers ago so this has been a really good reminder of what the boat is like
Glad it was helpful! I’m sure you’ll have a great time.
Well put together my friend straight to the points that needed to be shown..

Awww. This has sold it. I can't wait to book. Really want to sail with them to the Caribbean
We really enjoyed it. Already looking at the brochure for next year.

Very strange. The cycling channel is taking a back seat at the moment due to time and weather. My main photography channel is taking up my time.
Just booked for 9th March looks lovely
Thank you very much for the tour a great help for our cruise in Nov excellent
I'm so glad to hear that the tour was helpful for your upcoming cruise! Enjoy your trip in November!
Booked on our 1st cruise next Yr wife booked on impulse.
Really looking forward to it.
Your tour was great. Cheers
We leave for our next cruise on Friday on the Explorer. A video from there coming in a few weeks.

Is there a sauna or any spa facilities apart from the treatments ??🥰🥰 going in April this video is making me so excited !!!
Not totally sure of what is available. The only time is went in is when I walked through with the camera. You will really enjoy it.
I've just come back from my holiday Best Bar on the ship Bar 11 bar staff in brilliant 10 out of 10
We got back 27th August. As you have seen we tried the cocktails in bar eleven too. Planning next year's cruise already.
