I always bring Lysol wipes to wipe down door knobs, telephones, even toilet seats. I use them not only on cruise ships but also in hotels and airplanes.
One hack that works for me is a small spray water bottle. It travels empty to save on weight then I fill it up at destination and use to spray my hair if too dry for a blow dry but the biggest plus is that I use it to lightly spray my clothing as I unpack it, shake it and hang it. Depending on the fabric of the clothing, the spray of water gets all the wrinkles out of my clothes. Works every time.
There is something nice about unplugging. I'm 22 and refuse to pay for wifi on a cruise because I can bring books or maybe a board game to play with whomever I'm with.
I take pictures of all my outfits before going so that I can make sure I pack exactly what I will use. I then just look at my pictures when I'm getting dressed. I'm excited for my next cruise. We splurged on a suite so we have a living room, dining room, a hot tub in our balcony, and 1.5 bathrooms, along with butler service so I'll have them iron my clothing.
I wouldn't bother. My "outfits" consist of T shirts of different colors and a couple of pairs of blue jeans. And if the cruise is more than 7 days, I think most lines have some sort of laundry service, although I'm not above wearing my underwear twice.
First cruise in 11 days. With a 20 and 6 year olds. I found these waterproofing watch bands on Amazon that hold an AirTag. So you know where your littles are if you lose sight… just a little extra security to make me feel better…
There are a good majority of the items you take on cruises that I do as well. Packing cubes that are most current used ones are compression packing cubes, you can either compress or leave as a standard packing cube. Use packing folders as well for clothes that we do not want wrinkles in such as dress shirts. We also take a power bank, using some ones reduce the weight you carry. I use to take a jewelry organizer but they can be bulky, now I just small “ziploc” bags (think little bags that the extra button on clothes come in) to separate my jewelry then place it in a snack size bag, I try to only bring a few pieces that can go with most outfits. My electronic go into a small make up bag that I toss chargers, adapters and the cords that are wrapped with gear ties or Velcro straps. Bringing a small power strip with no surge protection can increase your plug in capabilities. I rarely buy souvenirs, the only souvenir I buy now is a Christmas ornament or something I can make into an ornament, it takes very little room in the suitcase, I remember our trips every year when we decorate the tree and they don’t clutter up my house all year. I have taken reusable water bottles with us then really don’t use them, this a good one to remember if you use them at home on a regularly. I minimize toiletries to what I can’t do without. I have added my foundation and face moisturizer together that both a SPF rating in them, place them in the same container reduces an extra container. Even though I pack my own Shampoo & Conditioner, I have them packed the 3.4 oz bottles that I should be able to use for a month. Most of my toiletries fit in the 3-1-1 bag including make up. We use a pop up hamper only if there is no laundry service, only happen once on A Norwegian cruise ship. We try to get unlimited laundry service worth the price, less clothes to pack, have not had any major mishaps with laundry service. Definitely paid for itself when we had to spend an extra two weeks away from home when my husband had to go to the hospital in Sydney. Thought I was coming home with clean clothes but instead didn’t have to look for laundromat or pay by the piece at the hotel. I have a shoestring lanyard that has a badge holder clipped to it. Small and compact tucks into a small space in the suitcase. Luggage cruise tag holder are worth it. Just before we release our bag to the cruise crew we attach them, once we had to put our printed paper tags on the luggage in the rain and could barely make out our cabin number. Luckily they made it to us. I get motion sickness, I find that the patch works the best but the OTC med I use is Bonine, doesn’t seem to make me drowsy. Hand Sanitizer or if you can get them wipes, wipes are not classified as liquid so they do not need to be in your 3-1-1 bag. I always pack OTC meds such as Tylenol, Pepto Bismo or Imodium and cold medicine, they have these on board but are usually outrageous costly. Also pack sunscreen and bug repellent. Any other meds that may be needed for the region we are visiting. Always carry a first aid kit including some moleskin to prevent blisters otherwise bandaids always work. If going to someplace like the Caribbean, taking a bag that doubles as your personal bag as well as a beach bag works great. I also take a couple of several different sizes of Ziploc bags. Never know what you will need them for. I use Shout stain removers, they come in a towelette again doesn’t count as a liquid, I think they work better than Tide pens. I love looking at packing for cruises video. Amazing how many differences ideas & products that are out there to help with our packing.
Instead of a pop up hamper I turned a king pillow case into a drawstring bag. I hang it on the hook that is usually in the bathroom. The nice thing about it is that when you go home you just pack it in one of your cubes. With the hamper, you have to figure out somewhere to put the dirty clothes in your suitcase.
Love that! I also bring an over the door shoe rack and place it on the inside of the Bathroom door for all our toiletries ,keeps things tidy for the longer cruises 😮
Hint for jewelry: I bring one silver and one gold necklace, then add several enhancers I can change out as I feel the urge. I throw my rings/earrings in a prescription bottle. Easy to carry, easy to keep track of.
@@darrelllundy3725I was thinking of the seat covers too, for getting off ship or on excursions. I'm sure there may be some questionable bathrooms along Central America!
If you don't have wrinkle release for your clothes ,you can use the shower as a steamer ,while you are showering your wrinkles can be steamed in the bathroom ,just hang the garment that you want wrinkle free away from the actual shower enclosure and as the bathroom fills with steam it removes the wrinkles from your clothes .
I have also just brought along an empty travel size downy WR bottle. Put water in it, spray the clothes and hang in the bathroom while showering. What the steam does not take care of the blow dryer will. Also the empty bottle does not need to go into the 311 bag.
Just like packing cubes, zippered pill pouches can not only hold pills, but Bobby pins, ear buds, hair ties, ect. Plus, I label the pouches by day so I know if I took my medicine each day. I have a string light made for wine bottles but works great for the dark bathroom. I have a little bag with a hook that holds small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and two razors that works great in the small shower. I prefer a small cross body purse for walking around the ship rather than a lanyard since it's easier and cuter to carry my phone, chapstick, hair ties, ect. I agree and bring pretty much everything else on this list!!!! Great content!
Instead of a pop up hamper - I bring a spray bottle of isopropyl alcohol to spray dirty clothes, especially underwear, running shorts & sports bras before putting them in the “dirty clothes cube”. It helps stop the bacterial growth on fabrics that cause them to stink
We just experienced our first cruise and I had almost all of these with me. I did struggle a bit with removing the cruise card from the plastic lanyard pouch if I had a drink in my hand etc. A few days in I saw someone with a hole punched in their card. They said guest services will punch the hole for you. Yay, no more fumbling to get the card out of the plastic😊
Be aware, some key cards become disabled if you punch a hole in them. But of course guest services will be able to advise you if that's true of theirs!
I have a small round daily pill holder from dollar tree that I put over counter meds in. Mark each section on the back with marker. I then put in a Ziploc bag. I carry this in my purse everywhere I go.
Great list! When i travel i always bring a gallon zip lock bag and some dr Bronners to wash small colthing if need be. Also some clothes pins mini clothesline or hooks to hang items to dry.
When I plan my cruise, I coordinate my outfits to make sure the lime green top will match other bottoms, otherwise a more coordinated color is needed. But this list of what is in your suitcase will be essential for lost luggage. You can present your list as proof of reimbursement and necessary replacements needed for your cruise. This list also serves as a record for your next cruise, to keep in mind, which outfits were best and which you never wore. Happy sailing!
Great list! I bring the patches vs Dramamine since they are non drowsy and I can wear one patch for a couple of days. I never thought about the plugs! I will add that to my list going forward.
First time using packing cubes and love them. I usually bring a trash bag for my dirty clothes but this time bringing a compression bag for them. It has hangers so I can hang and throw my clothes in there. Fold it up and put in my suitcase.
Umbrella, while at sea the captain will try to avoid rain, but in port there is no avoiding the weather. A flashlight in case you need to get up during the night. A lightweight jacket, sometimes the air temp drops at night or the a/c inside is set low. A small sewing kit. I prefer a tablet or my phone to an actual book due to weight, plus if I finish my book a new one is waiting. Just be sure to download multiple books before leaving your wifi. I will also take it with me to different shows, I can read in the low light while waiting for the show to start.
Taken many cruises and instead of a pop up hamper use a trash bag (kitchen 10 gallon size for clothes and the small clear ones for underwear. ) This way your dirty clothes go directly into your suitcase without touching any clean items or your inside suitcase for that matter! During a cruise or any hotel trip, you can put the trash bags on the top shelves or floor of the closets or even in a suitcase or drawer without worry. Trash bags take up little room and no weight in your suitcases. When you get home and empty out your clothes, reuse the trash bag in your trash cans! Win-win. Also, either use wipes to clean cabin on first day. pack a plastic baggie and pop the remote in it for extra safety! Forget all the various toiletries and use the hotel or cruise line soaps, it is only for a week or two and save yourself packing shampoo, or hand soap! (Imagine being on alone episodes where the people go months without soap! ) Less is more. Remember you are going to have to lug your suitcase at some point either to your car or on a train or at an airport. Also, for women, find a pair of earrings, necklace, bracelet and maybe watch and two rings that match all your outfits. No one is remembering what your wear, trust me, and it is so easy for you once on trip. I used to pack with jewelry cases etc. but now am a lot wiser and do not need to deal with that. Also, agree with the color coordinating of outfits. At night, black slacks with several dressier but comfortable tops. Packing cubes a must!
I'm going on a Mediterranean cruise this summer and have most of those listed, however I did get a tiny sewing kit from dollar tree for $1.25. It has different color threads, safety pins, and various other items.
I have blue eyes and just went on my first cruise and my first time in the Caribbean I’m not sure if my eyes got sunburnt. My sunglasses are pets prescription but I need to get polarized ones now. I also bought spray n wash wipes for stains and they worked amazing!
I bring shower curtain magnates for those times when the shower curtain won’t stay put and I bring dish soap and a little sponge to wash my reusable bottle.
Amazing your list almost matches what we bring except we bring laundry sheets instead of liquid pouches and a Scrubba which is much better than doing laundry in the sink. Also we always bring a funnel to fill water bottles and strain ice (switching to a collapsible funnel for our next cruise).
How does this all fit in a carry on? It’s fine to bring a checked suitcase, but she specifically said she travels with a carryon only. i couldn’t fit the folding the hamper in a carryon.
- Large mouth clips, to clip the beach tower to beach chair. - Not any kind of e-reader, better used NOOK or Kindle Paperwhite to read outdoor under the sun.
Great list! BTW, I've actually had good results with shipboard laundry service on Norwegian cruise line. I've used the fill a bag special several times on different NCL ships and never had a problem.
I don’t go anywhere without Emetrol for nausea. It works quickly. I also take Ibuprofen, Goody’s, alka-seltzer, Imodium. On our last cruise I left my toiletry bag in the car. Not wanting to have to go all the way back to the parking lot, we decided to purchase everything on the ship. It was a mistake. We were on an older ship so it took me several days to finally find those items in the liquor store onboard but they didn’t have everything. I also learned to always keep my toiletry bag in my carry on bag.
I have totally used extra prescription meds. We were on a Caribbean cruise and got stuck on board for 5 extra days because of hurricane Irma. Having that extra medication ensured my personal health for the unplanned extra time
I never heard of bonine or mezclin until recent researxh and you tube videos, but we all know Dramamine. I had ruled it out for drowsiness but didnt know they make a "less drowsy" option?! (Of course how reliable is that). And how does one know whether to choose that over bonine?? Just a coke and pepsi thing and they're basically the same? And aounds like u do bands AND dramamine?! So its good to do more than 1 method at once, or do they do different things? Thabks in advanxe!
They wash all of your items together in hot water. If you send a mix of colors/darks/white, you may regret it. Also we have had items "lost." So don't send anything you can't live without.
My first cruise, I had way too many warm clothes....day 3 into Port, straight into an Op shop, so many others made the same mistakes. As we continued further towards the equator the lighter the material 😄 The evenings were a lot cooler. Shorts and tops, comfy shoes. First aid essential. Umbrella would be very useful. I don't spend much time In the cabin. I make the most of everything where ever I can. I won't be taking half of the things mentioned, I did last time. Keeping it simple- $$$,Ph& charger, meds, sunglasses, hats, comfy clothes/shoes 😮light-warm jacket, 1 warm change & a back pack😇
That reminds me of when I took ‘winter’ clothes to Daytona Beach Florida in November, but, I packed my swimsuit! Had to go shopping for some shorts and sleeveless tops! It was HOT!
We almost got trapped outside of the country on a small island wo a hospital or doctor when the shutdown occurred. Now. We always travel with at least 2 extra weeks Rx.
Southeast Alaska is not a winter area, it's a temperate rainforest. You will be cruising during the summer months and it can get hot, expect rain, always rain. Only bring winter gear if you travel in October and can't stand anything below 70.
I always bring Lysol wipes to wipe down door knobs, telephones, even toilet seats. I use them not only on cruise ships but also in hotels and airplanes.
Small travel umbrella for rain or shade from HOT sun.
Or rain ponchos
Safety pins and mini sewing kit because I’m always having an issue. 🤣
Nail file and nail clippers! I hate being stranded with a broken nail with sharp edges and getting it caught on EVERYTHING.
Not on an airplane
I did super short acrylics for this same reason for my trip. And I’m an XL nail girl. 😅
Nail clippers are useful esp if you only have a carry on and so can't bring scissors.

Call me old school but I will be bringing a book, a real book to read. No need to charge and I love the feeling of holding a real book in my hands.
I totally agree. I love the feel of turning a page. The smell of the page. It adds to the whole experience!
There is something nice about unplugging. I'm 22 and refuse to pay for wifi on a cruise because I can bring books or maybe a board game to play with whomever I'm with.

I take a white and cream colored sunhat. I then take ribbon of several colors that match my outfits. I just change the ribbon, perfect match.
That is absolutely brilliant! Obviously ribbons take up a *lot* less space!

I dunno ... I've heard of 6 year olds stripping off all their clothes for the fun of it ...
Small sewing kit, to be able to sew back on a button. Also a small tube of Stitch Witch to tack hems, etc.
I’m planning on a bringing a motion night light for the trips to the bathroom in the dark 😊
Yes it is a must for me, I don't like turning on lights to goo to the bathroom through the night.
I prefer the electronic candles. They do stay on all night, but they look a lot more romantic.

I always bring one of those small spaces air fresheners for the bathroom and yes, the liquid hand soap every time!
I bring disposable toilet seat covers for when you use toilets in the common areas of the cruise ship
You cannot catch anything from a toilet seat. I use toilet seat covers to wipe the seat in case someone hovers and drips on it.
The toilet seat is actually one of the cleanest parts of a washroom. Taps are the dirtiest.

These are some great ideas to bring. But it’s a little overboard with some of the things.
Pardon the pun.
I bring shower curtain magnates for those times when the shower curtain won’t stay put and I bring dish soap and a little sponge to wash my reusable bottle.
I always travel with an aqua safe. Fits securely on beach chair.
The pop up hamper also helps compress using the holding straps
I always bring a small umbrella or rain cape just in case it rains. Ive had to use these on a few occasions
For the outlet charger, it must not have a surge protector. At least per Walt Disney cruise lines requests
Most cruises forbid them.
What's the deal about no surge protectors?
You can print your tags at ups, fed ex or library.
When you mention ereaders, include to download at home in case you do not get wifi. Also a charger for the ereader!! Great tips. Thank you.

You can go to library and print them
I don’t go anywhere without Emetrol for nausea.
Love the list but how do you fit all of this stuff into a carry-on bag?
Sooo helpful 😊😊
Thank you!❤
I used packaging cubes one time, but they were not for me. I can pack more w/o them.
That is what i found as well, if I do use them it is only for some items not my entire suitcase
@emilynordt153 Right
Thank you this is very helpful
Fold each outfit in a large resealable bag & after wearing it fold & place back into that bag!
Semester at Sea! My daughter went on a semester in the old ship.
very helpful, thank you so much for sharing all this.
I have totally used extra prescription meds. We were on a Caribbean cruise and got stuck on board for 5 extra days because of hurricane Irma. Having that extra medication ensured my personal health for the unplanned extra time
I can't imagine not having my medication - that stress would be too much!
In the original bottles. Some cruise lines have warnings about prescription meds being in their original bottles
Husband takes alot of medicine bottles take alot of room
Do you have to have the medication bottle with name and medication on it or can the medication be put in a little organizer
Excellent list! Revisiting your list for our upcoming Viking Cruise….thank you 😊
Viking - how do you get the axe/sword and horned helmet through security?
Towel clips for the pool area!!!
It was a very helpful video. Thank you for sharing this tips.
Great ideas and love it all!
Oh no. 7:24 please tell us more!
They wash all of your items together in hot water. If you send a mix of colors/darks/white, you may regret it. Also we have had items "lost." So don't send anything you can't live without.
At the 5:03 mark I love the shirt. I'm actually from South Dakota.
Compression cubes and like 2 gallon Ziploc bags, essentially sqoosh the air out but cheaper
I used Ziploc bags for a visit to France. They worked great.
I bring all of them! 😊
Non electric night lights are great too particularly at night for loo visitsand in inside cabin s
Fantastic video. Thank you very much
Always take bunggie cords
Thank you very good tips
This takes up how much of the carry ons? Seems like a lot
It was HOT!
@@brendacosby2186yeah we don’t have winter or fall here. We have pre summer (fall, winter, and spring), summer, and Hurricane season aka Hot as Hell
I want to travel with her. I will probably spend more on all these things that on the cruise.
We almost got trapped outside of the country on a small island wo a hospital or doctor when the shutdown occurred. Now. We always travel with at least 2 extra weeks Rx.
Very useful
Great info ❤😊
Southeast Alaska is not a winter area, it's a temperate rainforest. You will be cruising during the summer months and it can get hot, expect rain, always rain. Only bring winter gear if you travel in October and can't stand anything below 70.
The liquid IV packets are loaded with sugar. If you are limiting your sugar intake, you'll need to find another option.
Totally agreed! We've been using RecoverORS for ages and they have just enough sugar to activate your body's system
They have zero sugar ones
@@krjpy1 is it a natural alternative?
I’ve found Redmond’s ReLyte to be a much healthier alternative.
You must be fellow SAS sailor! What year were you? I was fall of 99.
I was looking to see if she said what year! I’m spring ‘06
In some cruises you find shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand soap and body lotion.
Thank you.
How do you work an air tag ?
Google it.
Only for Apple. Get Smart Tags if you use an Android phone.
great vid
I’ve noticed some cruise ships don’t restock in the gift shop lot of empty spaces why not restock at end of every cruise
Great tips!
