    Considering the game to date has sold over 20 million copies on steam alone I'd say the game already had it's success. The developer themselves even said they don't mind if the player count is low, they already made their money and had their time in the spotlight. They understand people move onto other games and sometimes people come back to replay a game. I myself still enjoy it, every other month i'll boot up Palworld and start a new playthrough to see what i can do to make my time more efficient in game.

    Palworld is the game of the year for me. Its cozy have action and it took the best features from other games and combine it with a wonderful world.
    No battlepass no microtransactions, skins for free now a days that is amazing. The game lives on its own without seasons or the mentioned overused things that is not fun for the player.
    Palworld with friends is the best expierence i had in a long time. Its the "Pokemon" game everyone wanted for years.
    Sure the late game ist grindy but the player do have tasks that keep it interessting, build a raid army, get legendaries to upgrade weapons and armor for example.

    From what I gather, the lawsuit may still be ongoing, but isn't as big as we maybe thought it would. We know Nintendo can't sue PocketPair for copyright infringment on designs, because if they could, they would have by now. Not to mention the designs for all of the Pals in the vanilla game at the very least, was made public years before Palworld's official release, so if there was a case after doing so at that point, they also would have done it then. But they haven't, which means they can't.
    The money PocketPair owed Nintendo was a good bit, but no where near insumountable. The 10 million yen owed when converted to USD it came around to just $65,600 not including other minor fees, which considering Palworlds success allowed them to be able to pay more than 5 times that, if pressured to do it. Along with this owed amount, PocketPair had to remove the throwing animation of sending out already caught Pals. It's likely they need to change more things just so they can not step on Nintendo's toes further, like having a Pal Sphere Slingshot or something that allows the player to aim and shoot their Pals from afar like in the vanilla game before the lawsuit, but not cause Patent infringement. Because the shere would be getting shot out, not thrown, acting as a technical loophole.

      I appreciate the insight dude!

    • @decusq
      @decusq 17 дней назад +1

      Honestly why do they need to change anything at all? The patent infringement is based on the idea that Legends Arceus did this first but Craftopia another pocket pair game did Object Catching Creature in 3D open World First! So why is Nintendo claiming thats their basis when they didn't even do the mechanic first?

    • @CephalonAxii
      @CephalonAxii 17 дней назад +1

      @@decusq Correct. But, the issue is not who did it first, it’s who made the patent for the game mechanic first. Or at least that is what Nintendo is making it. Had PocketPair been a company from anywhere else, they wouldn’t have had to worry about this to any extent like today. The only reason that they had to change anything in the first place and to pay Nintendo was because of just how much sway Nintendo has on Japan. Their culture was shaped with Pokemon and Nintendo as one of their main foundations for their economy, allowing them to have an almost 100% success rate in their lawsuits.
      PocketPair likely doesn’t want to fight this, if they don’t have to. If they were told they needed to give Nintendo 300 million dollars US, more than half of the amount they got from Palworlds sales, they likely would have contested it and gone to trial. But because they were only told to give a measly $65,600, they would rather simply pay that and wash their hands of the entire ordeal, because the money they would spend defending themselves in court would be too much, as well as time spent in court would be time not being used for future Palworld content.

    The game's progression flaws can be easily tweaked using the game settings feature. Which can be changed every time you load a save. Change whatever setting you think is arduous (I personally set ore node health to lowest).
    The grind that new players usually get is because they don't focus on one aspect of the game, monster catching. If you set out to get 12 of each Pal, you progress through the game with ease.
    Each of those Pals also gives resources that you will need to upgrade your base level. Of all things you have to "grind" for, are the spheres and Lifmunk effigies. The grind becomes more apparent if you want to use the guns, so go minimal on those.

      They buffed oil production and decreased the demand for plasteel ingots in crafting the ingots hungry items. It’s worth doing the research path to increase production, using a base spot with at least two nodes, setting up two pumps per node and using the advanced power generation with work-bred Helzephyr Lux. The Helzephyr don’t have to be amazing or maxed out, about 6 are sufficient to get you what you need while you’re off doing other things. You can easily get over 100 barrels in about two hours with a less than optimal setup

    I sunk most of my playtime when it first released, and then I took a year break and now I'm playing it almost every day for hours again. I was at the, at the time, final boss and the Legendary Pals to capture, but I was pretty much at end game with self-sustaining bases that fed into each other with the only thing to do was breed up better pals. I mean, I ended up doing that when I came back, but I could let that run in the background as I explore the new islands. Honestly waiting two big content patches was the best move.
    As far as Nintendo goes, patent law from my understanding is a lot trickier to deal with than stuff like copyright. Nintendo will most likely win the case in Japan, because it's Japan and Nintendo, which would be a big deal since Pocket Pair is also in Japan, but there's a chance it might also go International. I'm not saying it's possible, but there's a chance we'll end up with two versions of Palworld. The international version with most of the systems intact as far as catching, summoning, and riding pals goes, and the Japanese version in which those systems are changed if not removed. Or Japan could end up just not having access to Palworld but the rest of the world will.

But from what I've gathered from the most neutral "I study/am in law so here's my thoughts" takes is that there is a chance that just because Nintendo may win the case in Japan, doesn't mean it'll hold up internationally, and something in Pocket Pairs favor is how some of the patents were filed after Palworld was released and even those that are refiling of older claims are shaky at best.

      @@qqjle Solo is fun but being able to coop or compete for who can get the best bases quickest can be fun heck you sometimes have fun with using a odd base location and trying to make it work for a nice challenge/change of pace. Also the lag can be helpful if you want to explore without pals trying to get you (can't attack me if you haven't spawned in or need a min to notice me.

    I totally agree with this take. Awesome game and sooo damn addictive! The early game is the best part imo.
    The grind is real tho. Especially to get optimal pal builds for late game. It essentially becomes a breedfest where you wait around for A CHANCE at good passives/ivs. This problem is even more apparent when they release new passives and the optimal build changes, like musclehead to demon god, etc.
    I really hope they add better ways to streamline this process in the future -- yakumo and fruits are not nearly enough. It's killing an otherwise awesome game for me..😕

    • @qqjle
      @qqjle  3 дня назад +1

      Great minds think alike :) I think the current solution to this problem is to adjust the world’s settings, but that can be confusing for new players that just want to play the game as is

    • @lilbigman9127
      @lilbigman9127 3 дня назад

      @qqjle Yep. I have hatch speed at 0, but you still have to wait for Pals to produce the eggs. As far as I know, there's no setting for this wait. Furthermore, it's still a shame that I have to breed through 100's of these eggs to get ONE good pal. Nevermind the frustration of losing optimal builds when updates come out... Re-breeding is possible, but very time consuming. 😰

    It is a fun game, just wish the AI pathing was better is my main complaint. Also if Ninturds win this, it is going to ruin the gaming industry as companies are going to rush to patent mechanics of games to make profit. I bet all the big names like EA (egocentric assholes), Sony (just the name is enough) and Microshaft have patents ready to file on basic gameplay mechanics if this fight is a win for N. Just imagine if Ninturds decide to patent element weaknesses and resistances, leveling up yourself or creature, creature evolution, eating food etc etc etc. Because if they win this, they can file for patents and own every game mechanic they want. With as "we will sue you" happy as Ninturds are, just watch and see.

    They've added a lot since release and fixed a absolutely shit ton of things.
    But it's not without it's big problems still.
    The data save failed thing still exists on Xbox and it's the biggest problem.
    The rng in the game is also a big problem.
    The raids are balanced like everyone on max boosted settings but everything else is absolutely wonderful.
    A big part of the game does rely on breeding perfect things though and that's certainly a big stop for some as well

    The devs clearly don't give a shit about Nintendo and their dumb patent lawsuit. It's about time someone make another good creature catching game other than Pokémon because let's be real, to quote The Act Man; Pokémon fucking sucks right now (you should go watch his Palworld video, it opened my eyes on how the AAA industry has become shit). Just like Call of Duty and Madden, Pokémon barely changed at all. Palworld is miles ahead better than any Pokémon games we had in the past few years (except Legends Arceus, it was pretty good).

      @@qqjle It has the same style of gameplay as Palworld though to unlock mounts you'll have to progress through the story. Basically, Arceus summons Dawn/Lucas back in a time where Sinnoh was known as the Hisui region. The goal isn't like your typical Pokémon game. Instead of doing the gym challenge, you must complete the first ever Pokédex given to you by Prof. Laventon.

      Palkia & Dialga both have an Origin form just like Giratina. You will see what the Spear Pillar looked like before it was destroyed. When you complete the Pokédex, Arceus will summon you atop of Spear Pillar in the Hall of Origins where for the first time, you'll be able to legit catch Arceus (it was cancelled in DPP because GAMEFREAK thoughts it was "too complicated for children" oh yeah, because the Regi puzzle from the previous gen wasn't complicated at all). Sadly though, unlike Palkia, Dialga and Giratina, Arceus doesn't have an alternate form.

    Bro hit all the year old, click bait topics all within 1.5 mins. I have been playing since first release, and 55 hours doesn't get you far in terms of technicals for any survival 🤷 it feels "hard" for most players that can't understand optimization i guess.... saying you were under leveled and under geared for fights makes sense... the entire game is based around prep for end/late game. If you don't prep, ofc it's going to feel grindy when you arent properly equipped for anything 😂 also if you creators keep talking about this pattent for views, but not why it's all around bad for gamers. It might actually happen.......im sure that'll be great to make a click bait video on too 😔 its frustrating when people make videos like this with no idea about what's happening with the devs (pocket pair)
    all the gear and no idea 😅
