Long before Julio Cesar Chávez became a World Champion, he was scheduled to fight in Los Angeles. He wanted everything for his family, to help to put a bread on the table, to buy a house for her mom, etc. The interview was published and I was fortunate enough to read it in the sports section. He won his fight in Los Angeles, and from there he went on to become a legend. He's top 5 of best boxers in history.
Chavez looks normal build n ordinary muscles, but surprising is a great boxer with punching power! So unlike boxers nowadays who looks like bodybuilders.
Chavez probably has the most underrated DEFENSE of all time. His head movement was the stuff of legends. They kept trying to paint mayweather as the better "boxer" just because chavez was aggressive and came forward, but that's nonsense. Chavez was the more skilled boxer and it showed both times they fought.
Best inside fight game ever. What nobody talks about is how he used that left arm to block and parry to completely disarm and dismantle his opponents right side. Then you gotta worry about the hook coming for your head or liver less than a nano second?
Mayweather was way past his prime and was mediocre at best as a fighter. He wasn't even a candidate for the HOF as a fighter. Stop it. They paddled his record with tomato cans & cab drivers. The sanctioning bodies allowed this because guess where they were located? IN MEXICO. Those same crooked sanctioning bodies allowed a fighter (JCC) with 80 plus professional fights, fight a fighter fresh out the amateurs ( Medrick Taylor) and Richard Steele STILL had to rescue JCC. That's still considered the biggest robbery in boxing history. If those sanctioning bodies allowed that fight to allow that fight to take place today, they be charged with attempted murder
The most disciplined n the most talented fighter that we know in the era of 1985 - 1995. And the most fundamental text book fighter ever. Quite assuredly indeed.
Why Chavez doesn't get credit on his defense? He was one the most efficient defense fighters; his defense would give him the split of second to counter attack with so much accuracy needless to say about his ring cutting foot work phenomenal.. I don't understand why trainers outthere haven't studied him in detail. He was no flashy on his foot and hand move- no big moves, and speaking of short and efficient moves hands and foot, he was in another level , and his body structure to strike always ready to punch with so much power from any angle. THE GOAT.
The Black Mamba Roger Mayweather talked about the respect for Julio and said the reason Chavez won, was his great chin, he said man I hit him so hard and he kept coming.
@hortinus must be a Mayweather fan, those fans live in fake reality. When pressured, he clearly defends with his lead hand protecting his stomach and his rear hand covering above it. 😂😂😂 Maybe watch the fight again, fan boy.
These were great fighters in a great era. I am glad I was a boxing fan as a kid in the 80's. The first fight I saw was when Ray Boom Boom Mancini fought Korean Do Ku Kim, sadly Kim died from that match.
Roger has my respect out of all the mayweathers because he put people to sleep with his hands and not his performance. Meldrick Taylor is another good fighter that I admired.
When i think of Chavez, i think of the old guys in anime that always beats you. Ive only watched Chávez in the 90s. His record of 90 straight wins, unreal.
It pisses me off when someone says that Chavez wasn't the greatest Mexican fighter of all time...this guy fought everyone and didn't have fights once a year either...
@@alejandrorojas2253 definitely! Chavez was a warrior! I mean, if someone goes like 89 and 0 with like 60 Kos how can people say he wasn't the best Mexican fighter of all time?
JJC was a demolishing machine round to round ~ His fierce outboxing and skills made him a lethal boxer hard to hit ~ He sustained so much punishment and would come back with same fierceness - I'm amazed and proud that Mexico had such elite boxer
Julio caesar chavez is a true warrior. A terminator. Putting his chin on the line and kept coming to deliver his own. That is someone you dont wanna mess with.
I'm Mexican and believe me a I'd rather watch a Chavez than Mayweather fight but Chavez is TOO flat footed to beat Floyd. Remember you win by landing more punches while getting hit as little as possible. It'd be the classic punch, punch, dodge/block fight.
@@ismaellopez6214 you're probably right but I think Chavez has more heart and when Floyd beat Canelo, Canelo learned from that same mistake that you talked about and if they had a rematch, Canelo would be at him. Anyways, Chavez was really good at adjusting during his fights and would prevail. Thanks for your input though. I can tell you know boxing very well.
I must say ,the two greatest fighters in the history of boxing are holeo cazar Chavez ,and Floyd Mayweather Jr the difference is Mayweather wins backward movement ,Chavez wins all moving forward. Roger was a great fighter as well ,in a class with all great fighters. 🙏 Roger ,rest in peace.
I remember this, my pops; rip wud talk about The Black Mamba, but seeing Chavez drop and take the punishment moving forward and answering what wud drop the avg man, well clearly the word Legacy comes from such expertise.
Julio started using drugs like 2 years before of his first lost. This man was unbeatable. If he would have retired when he had 89-0, he maybe would have been the first in the rank in pound4pound in all time boxing history. Chavez has been called the best mexica fighter of all time and it's super misleading by a lot of expert, he is one of the best fighter of all time not only in Mexico, it was for the whole world. He had chin, stamina, defense, and he put a nonstop pressure to obliterate any fighter, he was a real machine, he can win any fight in any era, no matter for that beast. He fought against 27 world champions. In my opinion is the best second boxer of all time behind Sugar Ray Robinson. Sugar Ray Robinson had a record of 129 and 1 before he lost to Randy Turpin and the first time he retired at the age of 32 years old he had 132-3.
boxing is funny because its often internal pain and struggle that gets them into the ring and motivates their success, but if they let they pain eat them instead of dealing with it and growing with it and evolving it will eventually kill them
FYI: Chavez first displayed his talents in the U.S. v. (Not Thee) Jerry Lewis at the Memorial Stadium in Sacramento. Two more fights at the venerable Grand Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA followed prior to his breakout win v. "Azabache" Martinez (also at "the Olympic"), followed by Ruben Castillo (ditto!) and Roger Mayweather in Vegas.
It's nice seen two boxers actually fight instead of grappling and hugging each other Everytime one or the other gets in trouble....no stamina now a days...back then they brought it.
It's crazy that Julio Cesar Chavez is not spoken of MORE when talk about the GOAT on Boxing is brought up. His fight record is absolutely amazing when you look at how many times he won before he lost his first fight. And Roger will forever be known as the trainer who trained one the best Boxers of our Generation in Floyd. R.I.P Champ

and I was fortunate enough to read it in the sports section.
He won his fight in Los Angeles,
and from there he went on
to become a legend.
He's top 5 of best boxers in history.
Chavez looks normal build n ordinary muscles, but surprising is a great boxer with punching power! So unlike boxers nowadays who looks like bodybuilders.
great job , just subscribed. cant wait to watch more of your videos. keep up the great work!
Him vs sweet p was one of the best fights I've seen in boxing. Just 2 guys in their prime going at it
He should do. Vid on that!!
@geezer...going at it?????? Pernell defeated him with ease, da-'fuk fight were you watching.
@@damonwimbley9798one sided like a mf that was jcc real first loss
No one intelligent would mention that fight as a good fight for JCC.
He got smoked that Mexican hometown cooking was crazy back then
There will never be another boxer like Chavez again
Chavez probably has the most underrated DEFENSE of all time. His head movement was the stuff of legends. They kept trying to paint mayweather as the better "boxer" just because chavez was aggressive and came forward, but that's nonsense. Chavez was the more skilled boxer and it showed both times they fought.
Best inside fight game ever. What nobody talks about is how he used that left arm to block and parry to completely disarm and dismantle his opponents right side. Then you gotta worry about the hook coming for your head or liver less than a nano second?
Yes indeed
!! HAIL CESAR !! 🥊✊🏽🇲🇽✊🏽🥊💯
One of the all time best. Had a champions heart, with a warrior mentality.
89 fights undefeated that’s a real champion no one has come close he is a true champion that no one can come close
The most disciplined n the most talented fighter that we know in the era of 1985 - 1995. And the most fundamental text book fighter ever. Quite assuredly indeed.
Outstanding tribute. Thank you. His main gift to us was the training of Floyd.
My respect to both warriors
Rip mw
R.I.P. Roger, what a class act you were. You made the Mayweather name in this great sport and you'll never be forgotten.😊
Class act ?
😂😂what a Joke !! None of the Mayweather clan have Respect !!! None !! 🤢🤮🤮
@@JR-gn9ei yup!
One, if not the most respected Boxer in Mexico….. I must have been 7 when I saw one his fights
THE GOAT.
Maybe he's like Ali - you can't teach that, they have it or don't, Dundee basically said he taught Ali nothing
The Black Mamba Roger Mayweather talked about the respect for Julio and said the reason Chavez won, was his great chin, he said man I hit him so hard and he kept coming.
The real goat
6:17 Dang was that the first “Superman punch” in sports?
Mayweathers fights, when they were worth watching.
One of the greatest fights and boxers of all time. Respect to both. Chavez was a beast!! Go Chavez!!
RIP Rodger Mayweather
RIP uncle Roger
He deserves most of the credit for Floyd jr
@@justinfletcher7630 especially on offense!!
@user-kp2ls1qq5the even said Floyd couldn't take him on his prime
Is he related to Floyd?
Wow amazing channel! Absolutely subscribed immediately. I've never even heard of this fight.
Chavez destroyed that philly shell with overhand rights. Sweet since from the GOAT chavez.
Rodger didnt even use the philly shell in this fight. Casauls 😂😂😂😂
Best Superman punch ever
I admired how Roger Mayweather opologized for the punch after the bell, and Julio Chavez accepted his opology. True sportsmanship.
A Legend with a win record no one in his category has ever beaten. 89-0.🥊🥊
Roger has my respect out of all the mayweathers because he put people to sleep with his hands and not his performance. Meldrick Taylor is another good fighter that I admired.
Who respects you?
When i think of Chavez, i think of the old guys in anime that always beats you. Ive only watched Chávez in the 90s. His record of 90 straight wins, unreal.
It pisses me off when someone says that Chavez wasn't the greatest Mexican fighter of all time...this guy fought everyone and didn't have fights once a year either...
Bcuz a lot haters he never ducked no one or ran 12 rounds
@@alejandrorojas2253 definitely! Chavez was a warrior! I mean, if someone goes like 89 and 0 with like 60 Kos how can people say he wasn't the best Mexican fighter of all time?
*Julio doing the Superman Punch against Mayweather😅😅😅😅.*
Roger call himself the mexican assassin and still lost😂
Ah he has but he was a coward and id someone would off call him like that his as would off play race cards
5:03 WOW!!! He put everything into that punch. God Bless both of these warriors .
The greatest of all time
JJC was a demolishing machine round to round ~ His fierce outboxing and skills made him a lethal boxer hard to hit ~ He sustained so much punishment and would come back with same fierceness - I'm amazed and proud that Mexico had such elite boxer
You are looking at the real GOAT boxer. No one has been so dominant as Chavez was. Period!
@superior604✊🏿🤡 Chavez had a higher KO ratio and only lost 6 fights. And defeated 19 world champions
victorguzman2302 Chavez isn't the GOAT lol
I beg to differ.....Most dominant? Try Willie Pep and Sugar Ray Robinson.
63W and 0! He never ducked anyone and fought everyone!
The TRUE pound for pound greatest of all times!
Viva Mexico viva Chavez sr.!
👋💪💕🇵🇭
My respects to Roger Mayweather RIP he stood there and slugged it out with any opponent unlike his bicycle riding nephew Floyd may weather .
You mean the one that’s UNDEFEATED.

IT WOULD BE GREAT TO SEE A FIGTH DURAN IN HIS PRIME AND JULIO GREAT BOXSERS
Stopped his ass twice🇲🇽
Downplaying one of the 🐐. This man not only won Mexico hearts he became the peoples champion of his time.
At least this Mayweather fought Chavez rather than running for 10 rounds.
Julio caesar chavez is a true warrior. A terminator. Putting his chin on the line and kept coming to deliver his own. That is someone you dont wanna mess with.
Roger Mayweather is definitely a legend. Rest Easy 🙏🏽.
God Bless both of these warriors 🙏😎
That 2nd knockdown was devastating. Im surprised Roger got up from that one.
RIP Roger Mayweather
floyd's 50-0 looked funny with chavez's 63+ wins with 0 loss at this time
Mayweather was a dirty fighter. Watching him cheat against Pernell Whitaker was disgusting.
New subscriber here❤
Chavez would've beat Floyd Mayweather too!
I doubt that
@@anthonyjohnson9403 Keep doubting it but floyd lost to Castillo
@@MrWelizand JCC lost to Frankie Randall Floyd’s sparring partner 😂
Chavez was an animal....I loved the aggressive attitude and the fast hands. Can't say I care for the Mayweather bunch.
Shame that he failed to instill a sense of class and respect in his cheap shotting nephew.
he was an inspirational man that find a skill to atack and defend at the same time . rnp.
Floyd "Chicken" Mayweather, the greatest chicken.
I remember this, my pops; rip wud talk about The Black Mamba, but seeing Chavez drop and take the punishment moving forward and answering what wud drop the avg man, well clearly the word Legacy comes from such expertise.
Chavez was a beast. Is an all-time great. But lost to Whitaker in my estimation.
“He’s still on Queer Street”
- Sugar Ray Leonard 😂😂😂
Julio the Best Mexican fighter ever for ever
Sugar Ray Robinson had a record of 129 and 1 before he lost to Randy Turpin and the first time he retired at the age of 32 years old he had 132-3.
boxing is funny because its often internal pain and struggle that gets them into the ring and motivates their success, but if they let they pain eat them instead of dealing with it and growing with it and evolving it will eventually kill them
Mayweather jr doesn’t know these facts because he can’t read😂
Excellent presentation.
Too bad Julio son's are all jokes, none are really great boxer who can carry on their fathers name in boxing.
I attended the fight between Azabache and Chavez and also Chavez and Mayweather at the Olympic
R.I.P Champ
He did the jive turkey dance 😂😂😂😂
