El Mariachi plunges headfirst into the dark border underworld when he follows a trail of blood to the last of the infamous Mexican drug lords, Bucho, for an action-packed, bullet-riddled showdown. So blessed to grow up when these type of bangers were coming out.
You got that right. I love the movie. So I bought it on DVD :)
It especially looks amazing against that garbage that's coming out today. Like, have you seen what they have nominated for oscars this year? It's insane.
@@BrentonWoods774 its disgraceful
for real, and watching them in the theater after buying tickets for somthing else lol
I know right movies like this are why I miss the 90s my childhood
One of the best opening scenes to a movie ever.
First time I ever saw Cheech in a serious role. He killed it. Steve Buscemi shines wherever he appears. Banderas too. I have to see this movie.
You've not seen it? Oh, what a Joy you'll have. Classic independence.
I wouldn't actually call this a "serious" movie lol
It’s brilliantly over-the-top. Like everyone shoots directly at him and he just kinda effortlessly dances around all danger.
If you're waiting for Steve and Antonio in this movie, then get ready to see Salma Hayek! She's so f@cking hot in this movie your eyes will melt! 😵💫
@@Max_Maximus_69 About as serious as Dusk Til Dawn.
Anyone else notice he walked away without paying for the beer?
Well he was offered one on the house, he did have one on the house.
It was on the house 😂
Yea, how does he live if he never eats?
Wait, maybe we didn't see that part.
@yep-sb4uf it's a movie,a lot of impossible things happens in Hollywood 🖐️🤠
@curtisbrown5939 mmhmmm
Steve deserved an Oscar for this performance. Love it!!
Yeah right 🙄
An oscar?, come on bro
@@jerryhamer people have won awards with less screen time. Look up A History of Violence. Come back and bow down.
Ok, bro.
@TraumaER If anybody deserves an Oscar in this movie its Salma Hayek, with her fine self
*Buscemi is a master! One of the best openings*
this and his "I don't tip" dialogue in "Reservoir Dogs".
@@choff6057 yes...that was good too.
Smoking a faro sin filtro. Que chingon!
One of the best movie intros of all time
100% on the intro, but the last trigger scene could've been 90% better.
Watched this with my gf one night and she gave an audible ‘hmmm’ and squirmed when Antonio looked up. Later when Salma walks out of the coffee shop and the guys crash their cars I was like ‘oh. My. Gawd.’ And she made a vocal ‘hmmmpf’ 😂 we didn’t last long.
Ach, one of THE most epic introductions to a movie character EVER, man can Steve spin a tale. Cheers!
Absolutely fantastic writing
FYI: Steve and Cheech adlibbed the "dirty mug" exchange mid-take, and it is beautiful.
"Not class acts like these boys here but real scum." 😂😂😂😂😂
"These guys were world class turds and I'm sorry but they got what they deserved."
They got pissed too and started pulling out guns and knives and what have you... You know, starting some shit...
Could Cheech be anymore disgusted that a customer walked into his bar. Lol
I’m at work right now and this is the vibe 😂
well you don't want tourists accidentally run into the methlab behind the toilets not that it's hard to get rid of the bodies but it's always cheaper to scare them away
Maybe if that bar was in the Titty Twister...
Me everyday at work 😂
This film introduced most of us to Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek and Danny Trejo. We were already familiar with Cheech, Steve and Quentin.
Lmao no. This movie has nothing to do with Quentin so not even sure where you were going with that, but Buscemi definitely wasn’t known when this came out. He was Mr Pink from reservoir dogs but didn’t start gaining fame until his cameos in adam sandler movies and hitting it big with Fargo. All AFTER desperado. And Cheech’s time was from another generation. If anything Hayek was easily the most famous of the cast as she was already a telenovela star making a crossover debut which got this movie just that much more attention.
@@zimvader25 I know Fargo was his break out role, but I think a lot of people also recognize him from their earlier films like Miller's Crossing and Barton Fink, as well as Pulp Fiction, no? All these are older than Desperado.
But that is perhaps more here in Europe where Desperado never hit in the same way as it did in the Americas?
He was a well known character actor. Fargo made him a star. All the Cheech and Chong movies were on tv all day. Cheech was probably the most famous by then that’s why this is such a big scene w them interacting w pure dialogue basically.
Selma was in tv shoes and tv movie but not famous yet. Jlo was more famous and she hadn’t even blown up yet.
Loved Banderas and still do ......... dude just delivers whats required.
He delivers that mane for sure.
I think you'll find Steve Buscemi was doing all the acting here. He has to because he's not the one with the pretty face.
Thanks for posting this scene, Buscemi, is of course, one of my favorite actors of all time
"Welp thank you boys, y'all take care" 😂 I love it
Love this movie. And this opening, Buscemi kills it here 😂
People say he was the biggest Mexican they'd ever seen... he was 5'9”, 5'10” tops. It was no record, but bigger than most of us
Hehe yeah I was thinking Stallone was joking about how he's not a large man in one of the Expendables movies.
He’s embellishing the story, genius. Trying to get them riled up and worried.
Im 5'10..coulda been me..I dont member..
@@zimvader25 I believe he's referencing this scene from the sequel. ruclips.net/video/9BWIOcuijTk/видео.htmlsi=DUcGhaf-L4bKndmm&t=50
scene is pure Gold.
1:03 Buscemi's seven faces in a second. Great actor.
most excellent story.
One of the greatest openings to any movie in Hollywood history! Sets up the movie perfectly.
1:00 I love the disgusting half burp/half vomit noise that the tap makes when he fills the glass. It's like an auditory cue on how disgusting the beer is.
Imagine what the barrel looks like.
that was the tap!? I thought some drunk Mexican was choking on his vomit in the background. You learn things every day!
Thats fucking Quentin lol, hes so damn extra on everyting, you seen that mf thrown away like 20+ feet away with a single shot from a 12? hahahaha
that is because its actual piss
@@c.r.chandler5905 Probably full of cockroaches doing the backstroke, racing the rats ...
in the first version of the scene steve had to greet the bartender with: "mmmboy are you fat?"
God bless you 😂
Cheech the bartender shot back: "It's a place of business! Not a Jack LaLanne!"
His bar stool was askew
"and in walks Long John Silver, maybe."
An absolute classic.
Brilliant movie. It had a certain tone to it. Didn't understand why it turned to a much more comedic film when his brothers came with their guitars! 🤣 The machine gun reload, the rockets! 🤣
Desperado and Once Upon A Time in Mexico will always be two of my very favorite movies. I've watched them both at least a thousand times a piece, so much so, I have the entire scripts memorized by heart.
He one of the best actors and does not get enough credit or recognition,
Especially after Boardwalk Empire. Love that show!
@@damonr6987 He's pretty versatile, as well - you seen his role in Lonesome Dove?
@Maelli535 yes, one of my all-time favorite TV movie series.
Love this movie. Almost became a guitarist but instead joined the army lol
Steve Bushemi is awesome, he also volunteered as a firefighter for the 9-11 attack. Solid actor and human being!
He is great. He was able to because he was a firefighter back in the days.
6:55 they way he pulls that gun out is amazing
Those pats on his way out are pure genius
I'm glad I atleast lived in the time of these films
Spanish @ 2:53 is basically “smells like bs” but it’s slang.
Thanks for this, was just about to try and look it up
Love Cheech, and dire straits background.
30 years later, and I can still recite this entire opening scene hooooly
Steve Buscemi: Hello, fellow Mexicans!
He's meant to be a tourist. Do yourself the favor of watching the full movie.
@@bluepvp900 this is a reference to a 30 rock scene in which Steve Buscemi plays a detective who's undercover in a high school and introduces himself to a group of kids by saying "Hello, fellow kids"
One of the first movies I saw in a theater. Super worth it!
Quite literally one of my favorite scenes in anything of all time
I was in my early 20s, when i was saw this movie, first time. For me, that is the best Tarantino movie ever. Fast, full of energy and with many iconic scenes. Even today, in my late 40s, I feel the same, when i watch this scene. I think, that Tarantino could doing remake of this classic movie. Imagine this work with new actors, but with same magic, in our modern time?! Be saluted, guys!
Robert Rodriguez made that movie, not Tarantino
@ritawilbur6128 Really? I didn't know that! But, it's a masterpiece! Did he made some another movie, like that?
STEVE is a LEGEND. He's an all around great actor! He's one of the best for sure.
I must have watched this movie a thousand times and remembered every line as well as the soundtrack. This was also first time seeing Salma Hayek 😍
"...you didn't run for cover or join in?" lol
He's one of the ledgends. 😂
Love seeing him acting, bloody Rockstar! 👍
Masterpiece of a movie.
This is one of the best performances by one of the best performers (fantastic cinematography and editing as well).
The entire movie is over the top awesomeness.
Steve Buscemi.
I'm glad you are alive too. ❤
If Steve never anything other than this scene he would be a LEGEND in my eyes.
12 years old watching these classics. Thanks Tarantino
One of the greatest scenes of all time.
Cheech Marin saying “ everything “ 😂😂😂
An American icon too
What a class act Steve Buscemi is.
He sure blows Banderas away.
Yes a class act, not like the scumbags in that bar!
Walks in, orders a beer, tells a crazy story, doesn't pay, walks out
バーテンダーがビールの代金の代わりに男の情報を教えるように要求してたはず。
Lol! ... this scene NEVER gets old. I love it!
These eight minutes is beats any movie from the 20s
Anything with Steve is always top class
I like how most of the spy kids cast is in this movie lol
Legend.
Defining moment in movie history.
Such great storytelling 👍👍
I absolutely love that Dire Straits album.
Loved this scene from the first time I saw it in theaters!
Once I saw a scene later on in the movie that had Quentin Tarantino, I knew that he had ghost-written this opening scene. The dialogue for the rest of the movie is not even close to this scene.
What about the part where Pucho was having his pep talk with his crew? 😂🤣 That part was good too!
This was such a fun movie!
Love that scene, man
Buscemi was really good in “ Tree’s Lounge “ too.
Steve buscemi is so good. Honestly lol
The background music in this scene before the stranger starts shooting always makes me chuckle.
Six blade knife background, music, perfect
also Jack the Ripper by Link Wray
I thought that sounded like Wray.
I don't know what he said, but it was funny 😂😂
Este huele cagada
I don't know how good a firefighter SB was, but I am soooo glad he went into acting.
nice edit with the Dire Straights in the background, it really sound like the music it's from the bar!
Robert Rodriquez made a CLASSIC here
And many after , love his style , even more than Quentin tarentino
I LOVED THIS MOVIE 🎬 BACK IN THE DAY!
Loved this movie! Comedy and cover my eyes ...violence is bad. But still like movie!!❤❤😂😂
I love that part of the movie it's one of my favorite
Mr. Buscemi is such a great actor. I don't believe I've ever seen anything he's done that I don't like.
best movie scene of all time.. 💪🏻
One of my most favourite scenes ever! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
That's one way to get a free beer.
I want to imagine that this is the way Steve Buscemi is in real life.
Wasn't a beer, all he got was pisswarm chango... Well in in the cleanest glass he got, mind you
Absolute cinema
It begins
The hair flick by Steve!!
He is such a good actor
Top 5 movies of all time. Mine off the bat every time I’m asked it’s The Crow 🐦⬛ 1 , The Good The Bad and The Ugly 2 , Braveheart 3 ,4+5 Conan the Barbarian - Desperado
Doney good boy sure knows how to make an action-packed scene. Please notice - no shots were fired.
Fine! I'll watch the damn movie!
Absolute Buscemi. The best.
Best line is when he ask for clean glass
Used to hang out in that bar, cool little dive
Good old days of movies
One of the best movies ever
Definitely bout to hit 9 million soon lol
Best part of the movie
Whenever this movie is on I only watch the 1st 8 minutes then change the channel
This guy is great in everything haha
My favorite actor of all time.
I was expecting Lee Van Clef 🤠
I love the fact he waits till there is only about 2 swigs left in his glass to say “can I get a cleaner glass, this one’s dirty” and tender switches what little’s left to another glass 😂😂 like WTF was point in that, then left without even paying for the beer!!!!😂
