    Ahhh... Sororities and Fraternities.
They often embody the pinnacle of our youth. When I started to get closer to God however, I started to grow further and further away from the things of this world. Not having a taste for the things I used to anymore, not desiring the relationships I used to fool around with anymore.
    ================================
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
    the new creation has come:
The old has gone, the new is here!
    2 Corinthians 5:17
Strengthen yourselves so that you will live your lives here on earth doing what God wants, not the evil things that people want to do. 3 In the past you wasted too much time doing what those who don’t know God like to do. You were living immoral lives, doing the evil things you wanted to do. You were always getting drunk, having wild drinking parties, and doing shameful things in your worship of idols. 1 Peter 4: 2-3
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. Galatians 5:16
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
    Matthew 6:24
“Be careful not to spend your time having parties and getting drunk or worrying about this life. If you do that, you won’t be able to think straight, and the end might come when you are not ready.
    Luke 21:34
For everything in the world--the lust of the flesh,
the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--
comes not from the Father but from the world.
    1 John 2:16
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.
    Jeremiah 29:11
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. And the life that I now live in my body, I live by faith, indeed, by the faithfulness of God’s Son, who loved me and gave himself for me.
    Galatians 2:20
What about you? What is something God pressed REWIND on in your life? I'd love to hear from you!

There are a lot of commenters who are spreading an alternative message in the comment section. Before God made these revelations to me, I would have been saying the same things. But now that I know, and now that you've seen this video - we are held responsible to respond accordingly. Don't be swayed by those who may still be in the midst of darkness. This video was not easy for me to share, but I did it to spread truth and awareness about the revelations God has brought to my attention. Thank you all for watching!

@brookeduckworth I would pray first before speaking to the friend first about it and wait for God to give you an answer. In the meantime I would just continue to pray for the friend that God’s will be done in their lives and for protection. If God doesn’t give you an answer right way, be ok with that because He’s still working! Also not everyone will see what you see right way nor will they believe what you believe right away. God gives us all free will so we should never be forceful with others. Your friend will be fine! There’s nothing God doesn’t already know, and there’s nothing that God’s Grace can’t do!

I almost pledged too but I found the energy and rituals within the sorority were so secretive, sinister and negative. There's a reason for it. Look into the history of these organizations (started by Jesuits and/or Freemason Occultists).

This was excellent and God has used you to share it so eloquently!!!
I dropped out of my sorority too back in 2016 but only shared it publicly last year. I started questioning my submission to the process and realized if I submitted to God the same way I submitted to my organization I would be an on fire christian for him!
Once I acknowledged that truth God led me on a road where He revealed the rest of why joining was never of him and over time he revealed the truth about pledging, like serving 2 masters, participating in idolatry, and the bible verses these organizations borrow to give glory unto THEMSELVES.
I thank God every day that he chose to reveal these things to me and save me unto himself.
God bless you for sharing your testimony!

I too denounced my letters from AKA back in 2010 & I must say it was a hard but rewarding decision. The only organization that God approves of is the church which doesn’t require any pledges or “secret” rituals to join but only an open heart and yielded, obedient vessel. AKA stole my identity from Christ but when I denounced my letters I gained my true identity in HIM. #bestdecisionever #Jesussavedmylife

I am so proud of you Keilah! The truth will set you free. Keep letting your light shine and spread the truth. A lot of young people are desperate for friends and attention. Deep inside they just want to belong to something bigger than themselves and fit in. But you are so right to say that God gives us our identity- not Greek life/man. God bless! :)

In the 50+ years since I graduated from college, I’ve grown to appreciate, more and more, the fact that I did not pledge a sorority! Admittedly, it really wasn’t my choice at all - in my sophomore year I was right there at the Rush, planning what to wear to my interview, looking forward to being on that Line with my Line Sisters, and showing up to show out every Friday afternoon when the Divine 9 formed their circles and sang, strolled and performed as expected by their organizations! I was ready to buy into all this, including probably reducing the 4.0 I had accrued over my freshman year, and possibly losing my scholarship. . . For starters the interview I had before all the chapter members was harder and more intimidating than I had imagined - especially since some of the members had gone to my high school a year or two ahead of me, and their questions were harder than those from others! Long story short, I didn’t make the Line; and when I burned the rejection letter in my dorm room, I could have set the room on fire! Sure, it hurt to see the pledges gather in my dorm and appear together wearing the same outfit and revealing the same look of fear and forced unity on their faces. It took many years for me to get over my lingering feeling of rejection, despite the fact that I had kept my scholarship, while some who pledged had lost theirs; and I graduated with honors, and even had three Greek letters next to my name that I never pledged for, or lost my identity to receive. I was elected to Phi Beta Kappa!
As an adult, I was tempted to accept an invitation to pledge a graduate chapter of the same sorority that didn’t accept me in college - granted, these were sincere women whom I met when I lived in a city that wasn’t my hometown! I certainly know now that God had better plans for me that kept me from pledging, and I’m grateful! Kudos to the author of this informative post and to all former Greeks who walked away from the bondage of their organizations‼️
    👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏽🙌🏽

Oh, my sister in Christ how you have blessed me wit your testimony!! When I 6 years old I told my mother I wanted to be a lawyer. Then when I was in high school one of my teachers took me to an HBCU homecoming and saw some Nupes step. I thought to myself,”that’s going to be me one day.” In my 20s I had reached both goals. I pledged the spring semester of my freshman year. (If you have good grades and a certain amount of hours you can do this) However, after being beaten once during the pledging practice I didn’t see the point of the vicious beatimg buy people I didn’t even know. So through my ignorance and naivité I went to a Dean of Students and told what happened. Later I found out she was greek. So what happened I was never touched again but “crossd the burning sands.” (Which is rather geographically inaccurate but I digress) My sophomore year was strange to say the least. I never will forget this one Nupe telling me that I would have a hard time. Was he ever so right. I won’t go over the details here(I’m writing my memoirs soon) long story short I was always interested in studying aboad so I got involved in ISEP. The only school that was comparable to our grading system was a school in Canada. I had a a blast there and thankfully my I was able to enroll there. My foray into greek life was over. After undergrad and then law school. Being a lawyer became identity I grew up in the Church and gave my life to Christ when I was 7. After I became a lawyer and started practicing I started smelling myself so through a serious illness He had to get my attention and let me know that He is in control of my life and I needed a personal relationship with Him. I thank Him for it. I write this because anyone who may reading this God has to be 1st in your life and having a personal relationship with Him is key to the best life you can have! God bless!!

This is the second video I have seen on sorority sisters denouncing. I honestly have to say that I learned of this about a year ago through a great friend. He always spoke of this on his Facebook page. I have a daughter in her sophomore year in college who wanted to pledge. After knowing what I know now, I knew I had to instill this in my daughter. She was not pleased with our conversation, but needless to say, SHE DIDNT PLEDGE!! I have her information to read up on this. She had to read or see it for herself to know. I told her that she could not possibly love God, yet want to pledge. She told me that she was not a Christian so she didn’t see how this tied into her wanting to pledge. I implied to my daughter that I love her very much and I would love to see her face in the next life, but of pledging was in her agenda, I saw no other way for my baby to have eternal life. The dues were ridiculous to pledge. $2,000 just to pledge and that money can be used for her education, I think not. Don’t know whether me discussing this with her or the money was the issue, but I can thank my Father cause she chose not to pledge!!

OMG this video was perfectly timed! I was just thinking yesterday about how glad I was that I didn't pledge! I signed up, paid my fees and everything for rush week and God told me not to do it... I wasn't even saved at the time. To answer your topic: I feel like God has pressed rewind and rewrite on my decision to move out of state and away from my family and friends. I moved for a job opportunity and nothing is going the way I envisioned it to. I feel like I've been dropped into the wilderness! I can't wait to see what God has at the end of this...

Oh, I love my wilderness experience now that I think about it. It is time to fellowship and draw closer to your heavenly Father. I didn't have a job, my friends and family went ghost on me, no kids, no one but the ONE and only God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob provided. I sanged, I praise my Saviour God, I talked to Him and He comforted me through His words. Listen, trust Him with all your heart, soul, and mind.

I enjoy hearing different perspectives on this topic. I have to disagree though, only because one persons narrative isn’t everyone’s narrative. I’m a RUclipsr, that create videos on the positives of Greek life and the right way to pursue an organization. I respect your opinion, and I believe you did the right thing for YOU! But you can’t push your message on everyone. If the message you received from god was for everyone, our organizations wouldn’t be filled with educators, pastors, government officials, or caring individuals who serve our communities daily. To be quite honest my life changed for the better when I joined my organization. I wouldn’t be the person I am today! Yes, we have to pledge, read oaths, etc. but there was never a time I had to say or read something that said I agree to put this org above god or anything close to it. Government officials, police officers, firefighters do the same exact thing when they get sworn in. The only difference with us when we pledge, we’re agreeing to impact our community, safeguard our organizations representation in the best conduct, and abide by our organizations principles. Yes, there’s parties, drinking, etc. but that’s prominent on most college campuses. And completely optional/personal preference if you indulge in those activities. For my life, god is first, then family, career, and then my fraternity. It’s really about you as an individual, you plan your own priorities. Once you have control of your own priorities, you won’t let anything get in between you and your relationship with god. I’ve been living my life like this ever since I joined. I listen to all the messages he sends me, I’m still waiting for this message to tell me to denounce or i made the wrong decision. He knows I put him first, through my actions, character, and prayer. So why pull me away from something if I already put him first.. just my opinion on this topic! I appreciate your transparency in this video! I hope all is going well with your journey.

Thank God for you and creating this video! I have always wanted to be a K, but I prayed and asked God to show me the right way to go. God revealed to me that it is a form of idol worship. I came across the ritual online and I was shocked. At no point am I bowing to the founders, pledging my life to anything or anyone BUT God, and I refuse to allow an organization to dictate an elitist perspective that you aren’t worthy or haven’t “arrived” unless you have letters. I honestly believe they prefer people to join undergrad because its easier for people to get caught up in the popularity contest and all the activities and glamour of being in an org. And be brainwashed. Blessings!

This was truly inspirational to me and i want to thank you for those scripture. I was scrolling through so probates videos(nothing new!) and I honestly came here looking for dirt on why you dropped out only to receive a message from God. It is not about what you said but more about the scriptures you delivered that made me realize god was speaking me. Making me fully understand the path I needed to take. God has made it extremely difficult for me to join a sorority. There is no black sororities on my campus, I would have to pledge off campus with no car, I even considered starting one on my campus before i was shut down. I too planned out a life of endless opportunities and having a big community with people i can look up too but for the wrong reasons, and with a man who's family only wanted a Greek because he's legacy. So here i am.. at my senior year in college once wanting to pledge to acknowledging I've been ignoring all these beautiful things God has given me because i wanted more. He has better plans for me "plans to prosper me and not harm me, plans to give me a hope and a future".
So thank you once again for preaching the word of God.

    @joanne4163 6 лет назад +36

To be honest I get where some of the comments are coming from, that you think it depends on the person, but honestly I want you to think about your sorority for a second. You are basically paying dues that are way too high, going in the cut, and making false relationships with girls based on a common entity in order to fulfill what exactly? To do community service? Sisterhood? For “networking”? I’m sorry to say but I don’t see the point in doing it for either of those things. I have close friends to me that aren’t Greek that treat me way better than my former sisters, I volunteer at my church to help make a real difference in society than the few events Greeks do in a year, as well as networking maybe cool, but you could’ve meet persons that can help in your career or life outside of the Greek life. I’m sorry there is literally no way to say how it helped you but rather you can ask why do we need to pay and “cross” just to accomplish these things that we can do without letters. Taking oaths and rituals just for the things I’ve mentioned? It doesn’t sound right. Better yet, sing the song you came out to for your probate word by word slowly and let that sink in so that you can obviously see that it is a form of paganism. Some Greeks take these letters to an EXTREME but fail to worship Christ in that manner. Let alone the Greek pettiness is a horrible turnoff. All in all, leaving for a person who is woke, who I comfortable in the person she is as well as comfortable with their self identity, and confident does not need to hide behind letters to be great, and that is the truth.

I just want to say that even though it was has been almost a year since I read this post and it is STILL very relevant to my life. This is going to be a long post but I pray that it hits home for someone. Okay...growing up I always ALWAYS knew that I would go to an HBCU and pledge. Not many people in my family belong to D9 organizations but I wanted so badly to leave behind a legacy for my children to come and to build a beautiful sisterhood. To serve and lead my community. Well went I get to my first college... the Greek orgs BARELY exist lol! Literally.. most of the lines were non existent for years. I transfer schools and although it’s a PWI..the orgs are pretty heavy. By this time MANY of my friends have pledged at their schools. I’m doing my research, talking to the “right” people and making my presence known but also trying to just graduate at this point lol! So guess what? I graduate and I am crushed y’all! Lol! I went through college and never got to join that beautiful sisterhood. But yet...I want it soooooo bad. So grad chapter here I come! But one day I decide to really research and I mean REALLY research down to the nitty gritty and I asked the HARD questions because I was about to make a lifetime commitment. Listen, what I discovered shook my spirit. The chants, the rituals, the system...I even wished I hadn’t read what I read. To those of you that will probably criticize me for making that statement, pleas know that I am not naive and my research is extensive! So while many of my friends in sororities are followers of Christ, prominent members in the community and serve...when you mature in God and decide His will or nothing at all... it will be very clear which direction to take.

That last sentence! My eyes were opened as well. If people are TRULY seeking God and they do their research (because the info is out there), it will be abundantly clear. For those who are lukewarm or have a hardened heart, they won't be able to see the truth!

I knew it I knew it, that's why I didn't pledge when I naively starting asking the lady who was over the sorority about greek sororities being a part of a polytheistic culture and when I started asking about rituals being similar to pledging she got heated.
I know now that those were silly questions to ask I killed any opp I had right there. But I knew in my heart it wasn't right. She told me "when in rome do as the romans do". That ain't me though. Praise God for your testimony!

I'm happy I found this video, I always wanted to go into Greek life. But the past two years I've grown not being interested in it at all by seeing what they do and also the process to join one. No organization should be harsh to get into and also they should not make you isolate yourselves and not be able to communicate with your family and friends. Yes people say being in one have benefits but it's still a lot of waste of money for not guaranteed connections and opportunities. Everyone should just read the Bible, pray to God, do good deeds, and wait for their miracles to come. If you work hard and pray all that you want will eventually happen in Jesus name Amen.

My mother used to be an AKA while she was in college. Fast forward and I am 25 years old now. I started to notice the destruction within the world. One day, I asked my mom to pray with me and she actually verbally attacked me and I found that it was very strange that she acted like that over me asking to pray together. Even my brother seemed confused at this. I slowly started to put the pieces together as to why she is the way she is... This video has actually made me cry because I see through all the BS that these organizations portray and it is in fact serving Satan. They all have ties to Masons which actually control our false reality that we live in (Satan). On top of her having an abusive childhood, she has a false sense of self. She calls herself the "Queen" of her household and sometimes calls her name in 3rd person.
It is very egotistical and narcissistic behavior. She has been verbally abusive towards me for no good reason at all sometimes and she rarely apologizes. She did this last night and she called me a bitch just because I said I wasn't hungry when she was making some food (she was drunk) and she apologized. Then she brought up my past and said you (I) "Used to be a better person." Just to make herself feel better about her verbally abusive ways. I need to leave, I know and I plan to.

While I respect that this is your testimony, it's rather unfortunate that you try to paint every organization as ungodly solely due to your own experience. Maybe God called you out of Greek life because YOU made it an idol. When I crossed I didn't start praying to my org or bowing down putting it before everything else. I'm still the same person I was before I crossed. If you joined and switched up then that's you, don't blame the sorority for your lapse in judgement. Before I joined I prayed that if this was for me that the doors would open up for the opportunity, and if not then don't let it happen. The doors swung wide open and I don't regret my decision.

These organizations are secular institutions. You are free to practice any religion you choose. Why are you pretending that they try to influence your Religious affiliation? Hey guys simple. Sororities (Fraternities) are rooted in a Masonic histories #FACT. Doesn't matter community service, various reasons for joining, "I can still preach to my LS's/LB's"...", it has a ROOT OF SATANIC CULTISM. No reason cutting a tree's branches all OFF and not paying attention to the roots. This is the reason God has removed me completely from the ties of this society. Because for me to GO DEEPER in HIM! I HAD to remove every.single.root. tied to Satan. Whether I saw it that way or not. Some of us may not be satisfied with our relationships with God or not where the Father sees us being now because of demonic ties to Satan. Lord doesn't tolerate it.

Thank you for your obedience and boldness. Praise be to the Most High in our Savior. This is not a matter of opinion or to each its own, but a matter of obeying God’s Word or not. Leaning on your understanding, emotions can lead you astray. His Word is His Word, no need to try and justify sin, if you choose to sin then call it for what it is, take accountability otherwise you’re following another doctrine being your own/not the Creator’s...but to try and make allowances - is admission of guilt, or strong delusion! Father, help our unbelief and lead us in the Way everlasting. Not my will, but THY will be done.

Maybe when you decided to join you joined for all the wrong reasons . This is why you should have dropped. Sororities and fraternities are not about the partying and drinking and all of things of that sort . They are very much so entailed with a mission for community service and empowerment. You see once you join an organization, it does not mean that you have to change who you are , it should mean that you are able to be more of who you are . Absolutely no one or nothing can make you do or be anything that you don't want to be or do .

That's how I feel and I am in a sorority. I also believe it depends on the chapter you're trying to enter as well. The women who brought me in also were my mentors growing up. They are Christian women who are passionate about others. I also think it's a huge difference between undergrad and grad chapters. From my experience undergrad was concerned about certain things like partying. Didn't really see them involved with the community and a lot of them never transition into grad chapters. You can do BOTH of those things excellently without joining a sorority Teana :) Actually most people that join for those reasons don't even follow through to make the connections they were hoping to or they don't leave the process with strong sisterhood or friendships. I would encourage you to allow God to bring you to women your age, and to not attach yourself to something that God doesn't approve of (an idol) and also to search out opportunities to network. If you're not doing it now, you most likely won't do it later :) Just what I've learned about myself. The environment or title may change, but that won't change your attitudes or habits :) love yaaaa! Hope this helped

This is interesting. I appreciate what God is revealing to YOU. I respect your journey. However, the only reason I decided to pursue my fraternity is because of a revelation I received in my own personal prayer time. I had intentions to continue on with life without it...I was out of school and doing great in my professional and spiritual life. Greek life doesn't feed my flesh. It sounds like you had unhealthy motives going into it...and it perfectly makes sense that God would tell you to let it go. YOU made it an idol. YOU got tripped up in the negative aspects. YOU got caught up. This is not everyone's story. You gotta do what you need to do. Make sure you stress that this is YOUR story and those like you.

I thought I could juggle both also but I couldn't because I started to find myself slowly changing to conform to what my sisters wanted me to do and I also felt that if I couldn't stay up to what they stand for and do all the events that they were doing and stuff like that then what was the point of me being in the sorority they respected my decision some understood and some didn't

I'm about to start the process of denouncing Sigma Lambda Gamma (Part of the Zeta's/Sigma's) I feel no STRONG conviction but certainly enough to know I need to denounce because of the oath, the rituals and the idolatry. I crossed 7 years ago and educated 2 lines so I am planning to write them a letter explaining this so they can ask questions and then I will formally self terminate. I didn't realize how extremely difficult it would be to throw out all the paraphernalia so I have been doing it gradually. Eventually getting to my decked out line jacket. I want God to make it easy for me.

  • @ladieesc0
    @ladieesc0 6 лет назад +3

I'm a year late on seeing this video but I just want to say that for everyone saying "my uncle, grandma, pastor, minister" are all Greek and they are awesome Christians who do great things. I am sure they do. I am sure they are great people. And I am sure they are Christian.
However, what determines if something is Christian or not is if the Holy Spirit is behind it. Paul says work out your own salvation. You are not about to go to Heaven and when you give an account for any part of your life (not just Greek stuff) but your walk in general and say "oh but my uncle was a minister and he did and said so and so" That's not good enough.
Secondly, for those who said maybe its because SHE made it an idol. I will tell you this, I was an AKA and I NEVER made it an idol. I was never gung ho, I never "put it first" , I never walked around screaming it, etc etc. But my intentions behind it is not what makes it of God or not. You may feel like "oh well I'm one and Im good" but don't confuse God's mercy for His approval. He loves us and will give us chance upon chance to get it. So thats just His mercy. But my point is it wasn't Christian just because I am Christian and was in it. Eve's intentions behind eating that forbidden fruit wasn't evil but it was still against God. Also remember that idle words still have power so whether or not you mean to "see the pink and green light" and have it regin supreme in your life..and pledge yourself to it (without true knowledge of its spiritual roots), whether you meant those words or not as idolatry, that spirit if idolatry is still behind it. and you're still exposing yourself to it. Jesus says we will have to give an account of all our words. So getting there and saying "oh but i didn't mean that "like that for real for real" and oh but my uncle is a minster and said it too" won't suffice. If the devil made all this obvious then you clearly wouldn't do it. He is a deceiver and thats why you need The Holy Spirit to bring you the real TRUTH. Lastly, she's not pushing anything. Let's not make it something its not. Beauty gurus get on youtube all the time and talk about their beauty regimen and no one is like "stop pushing your skin care routine on me" so, please stop trying to twist it.
I want y'all to know that what determines God's Spirit is God's Spirit and nothing else. What determines His Word is His Word and not anyone else's , not even mine. So I would encourage you guys to just go to Him yourself. If you feel like she is lying you have every right to go to God and ask Him yourself. You are his child. Then you go by His answer. Not the voice of anyone else's. I pray you all have a relationship with Him where you are able to discern his voice versus the voice of the enemy. If not then cultivate your own relationship with the Holy Spirit so He can help you. Sometimes we black people can be too much into the spirit or religion and oh well at my church we do this and my pastor said this etc instead of the spirit of a relationship with Him when we can say "He told me." Sorry I wrote a blog on your video girl :( lol

As a member of NPHC who truly loves Christ I will say that you denouncing your org is more so because YOU made it and idol in your life...not the structure of the organization itself and what it stands for. I am not saying God didnt tell you to let it go, but I am MORE than certain that it was becuase of YOUR doings within the org. I serve God's people with my org, I feel God's love with EVERY interaction I have with my sisters, and we Priase, fast, and worship God together as a unit! It was only by the grace of God that I was placed in that org in first place. That saying is true..."you make the letters you do not let the letters make you" and it seems like you allowed those letters to make you. Regardless, I pray that your decision continues to bring you closer and closer to Thee.

Man a hit dog will hollar! I remember attempting to pledge during undergrad. One night had a crazy dream that the inside of the Frat house was open graves with tombstones. That didn't sit well with me. Not only that I didn't like how the org was being referred to as if it's a actual person or being. I also saw how they belittled people and required people to do asinine things. The "crossing" night is a form of ritual and there are others. No disrespect but again if you are a Christian really seek God.

    2 things to consider:
Does the Greek life bring you more intimate and closer to Jesus or push you farther from Jesus?
Greek life talks about the good things they do in the community but every good work done outside of Christ or not through Christ will burn in the end. That means all the things done through the Greek life will burn and are not pleasing to the Father.

Just because someone is a minister, preacher, police officer or any other profession doesn't make being in any organization of exclusivity biblical. That is the complete opposite of Christ and anything opposing Christ is anti Christ. Also Jesus says people will cry in that day Lord lord didn't we do all these things in your name? And He will say get away from me you workers of iniquity! I never knew you!

Make sure that you are ALWAYS prayed up so that you don't step into something that the Lord does not have for you. I believe that I will be a beacon of God's light in my fraternity, and I am looking forward to all the great things God will do through me for my organization!

God gives everyone a purpose and destiny. I am a member of AKA. God led me to join my sorority so that I can make an impact in my community. The distractions that you are referring can be anything in life. I personally think that maybe when you joined your sorority, you did not known who you were in Christ. As far as my chapter many of our sisterly relation activities we often go to church together and worship God. The target programs that we have are not only impacting the community that we live in but the world as a whole. I don't think you should say that pledging is not of God. I think a better thing to say would be that God did not lead you to greekdom. There is nothing wrong with strolling or partying as long as you remember to stick to your values. Be the example to your peers. I love music and dance. But I don't drink or grind on ppl at parties. Since I've been Greek I've led so many Greek sisters and brothers to God.

God did not tell you to pledge yourself to a false god. Please stop telling that lie. If you chose to join it was your choice but please don't say that it was God so that some naïve young person can read this and think that God approves of these unclean spirits and these unclean organizations. You cannot serve him and whatever false god is the patron saint of your organization

I dropped out of my sorority just last summer after two years of being in. My main reason was that I realized how little in the sorority I would have to be involved in in order to keep my grades up. At that point, it wasn't worth the money or time. I really felt for every one of them because they didn't have Christ or claimed to be Christian but I didn't see any Christ in them (I was surprised when they told me!). My sorority USED to be based on Christianity but only mentions God or Jesus in rituals, which at that point I wouldn't expect anyone to want to listen to it. During recruitment there are 4 subjects (4 B's) to avoid talking about; boys, booze, bank, or bible. I would've preferred joining when it was first forming since the first ladies were really passionate. Coming out of it, I felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders! Now to just sell the shirts!I'm doing fine nowadays. I actually got involved in something called Royal Family International. They basically teach who you are in Christ and how to live that out. My social life is good. This semester was a lot easier as a result! Thanks Keilah! You're an inspiration!

My input to this for both sides is this, man, looks on the outside, but, God looks at the heart. His ways are not our ways and we should not lean on our own understanding. As far as having idols or false gods, that can only happen if you are putting anyone or thing before Him.
As far as being called out of something (for whatever reason God sees fit) awesome! He's all knowing and all wise and knows how, when, where and why to lead in all things. But be mindful, while one is called from a thing, someone else is called to it ref. the Profit Hosea and his harlot/adulterous wife in Hosea chapter's one, two and three.
There are other references, but this one I feel relates to both sides of this debate (for lack of a better word) because in it we see that God's covenant with His chosen people will not become null and void, non of His shall be plucked from His hand, for God has plucked us from the fire Zechariah 3:2 .
This was good dialogue (except for those that got too heated and became rude and judgmental). But, this is much too deep of a subject for a quick video and quick comments. It's missing the complete history/origin, what it has evolved to be in todays time, what it stands for vs, individual or collective behavior (good and bad) etc.
But kudos still, as this post should have pricked at each commenter to dig deeper than what the have previously lived, read, been told or just believed without really digging deep, praying and hearing God on the matter.

I've never been interested in joining a sorority (though the networking aspects are tempting), but I feel like next year is going to be an interesting one for me. I graduate university in December, & I'm not sure what I'm going to do afterwards other than finding a job.
When you mentioned not giving your entire heart/self over to God, that really hit me. I feel like a lot of my dreams have been put on hold (traveling, for instance), & that I've been stuck in my home state for so long. My aspirations to go into the legal field are particularly precious. I think I'm afraid to ask God if I'm really supposed to go onto law school because I'm terrified that he's going to take that desire from me like he has with so many others & I'll be left looking foolish and floundering. And there's so many other fears & insecurities I have about going into that field (on top of not trusting the Lord to take it off the table completely) as well. It probably sounds ridiculous, but that's where I'm at right now.

Hey Kimmie Love! As long as you continue worshipping God, seeking Him and praying - you won't miss out on anything you are supposed to. Because God will guide you and lead you along His paths of righteousness for His Namesake! Just like Psalm 23:3 says!!! :) Love you girl!!! SEEK HIM, don't seek your own pleasures. Tiasia T Look. Do your research. Do not let religious extremists let you miss out on your blessing. I listened to crap like this from my father (who was an elder) misconstruing scriptures and the meaning of the organizations. A lot of these people are scorned members who decided to make excuses for why their sorority was not for them. I'm now years after graduation realizing (after reading the Word FOR MYSELF from Genesis to Revelations) that in fact I should have pursued membership. Don't be me. Please think critically especially about these people. They talk about organizations are responsible for keeping you away from God. However if you look at them, this person for example, she stated she renounced the organization; is no longer affiliated. Yet the spirit of vanity is dripping from her own self so much you could mop the floor with it. Beware of false prophets.

It sounds to me she didn't make the line and came up with another excuse our was put out of the sorority. Don't do it as a Christian you should not be partaking in pagan rituals period and a lot of these greek letter organizations won't admit that part. Some of theses orgs make you isolate yourself from those who are not in the org and You're expected to put the org 1st in order to gain membership! Not to mention you better keep the org's secrets! Extremist nothing, it's the truth.

You heard well sister in Christ. My friend was/is a Kappa and has serious issue with the the organization. He mentioned the pledge to Greek gods secret handshakes and much more secrets. We are not of occultism or things hidden or of darkness but rather we are children of God who is our light and salvation and is Not hidden nor does it have to be
