Yeah, serum's an easy way to get started with creating this type of sound, but you can do it with almost any digital synth. I have tried with all of the basic shapes, yes. The best results, in my experience, have come from the square wave and the saw wave. I think I prefer the square wave though.
@@AlexCarter881 i use serum and idk what downsampling is, i just did the same thing i just saw there on a vid. It kinda sounds like yoi, but it is more like 8-bit thingy

my yoy sounds trash, i followed everything almost 1:1 and it is just bass with sometimes more distortion
Are you using Serum? Are you using downsampling? The filter and downsampling are probably the biggest reasons behind the specific “yoi” sound.
