Allo 'Allo! is a British sitcom television series created by David Croft and Jeremy Lloyd, starring Gorden Kaye. The sitcom focuses on the life of a French café owner in Nouvion, during the German occupation of France in the Second World War, who has to deal with problems caused by a dishonest German officer, a local French Resistance leader, a stolen painting, and a pair of trapped British airmen, while concealing from his wife the secret affairs he is having with his waitresses. Croft and Lloyd devised the concept as a parody of wartime drama Secret Army, and initially launched the programme with a pilot on 30 December 1982. The sitcom was eventually commissioned following the success of the pilot, and ran for nine series between 7 September 1984 until its conclusion on 14 December 1992. Both Lloyd and Croft wrote the scripts for the first six series, while the remainder were handled by Lloyd and Paul Adam.
I am an old coffin dodger with a dicky ticker and can remember the first time it aired. Now I am confined to a chair I signed up with Brit Box and have watched the entire show again. There are 9 series but I have noticed a few episodes are missing. Allo Allo is a true gem of television production. My sincere thanks to the writers and to all the actors and production staff.
I am 29 and I watched the heck out of this when I was growing up and loved it.
Good luck bill, I wish you the absolute best :)
I’m so glad to find someone who loves the show deeply. I watched it all through my childhood in the 80’s and enjoyed watching it with my dad in later years before he sadly passed away in 2021. He would be so pleased to see it being enjoyed. He really loved this show and dads army too. Every time I watch Allo Allo, I smile and think of the good times watching it with my dad❤️❤️❤️
My late French mother laughed her socks off. at this series. I am very happy to see you are still dodging nasty boxes.
I’m 44 and loved this show. I would sit with my nana and grandad and we’d all be laughing.
One of my favourite memories is watch my dad laughing till he was red I the face, mum was worried he was going to have a heart attack! Keep dodging that coffin.
I had a tear or 2 watching this,... Geez I miss these guys. It was the perfect comedy. Carried me through many a dark day. I love you guys
❤ me too.
Oh I agree. This was a brilliant cast. I miss Carmen Silvera
"I fell out of a british bummer" i had to pause it made me laugh so hard
I can watch allo allo a million times and never get tired. God bless their beautiful souls of these actors who made our day...RIP to the actors who have passed on...Thank u ALLO ALLO for making us laugh 😃 will surely miss you guy's 😘 😢 ❤
That's exactly what we do..... we've been watching Allo Allo for the past eight years, again & again and we keep on laughing again & again. We consider it the best comedy series ever made !
If i have the time i would like to watch it when i'm lying on my deathbed
@@acajutla And die laughing....great way to make an exit !!!
Absolutely.
Couldn't have put it better than that; never tire of watching Allo Allo. 👏👏👏
My favourite part is when there's dead silence for Officer Crabtree's entrance - they all know exactly what he's going to say, and they hold the applause until he's said it.
The actor who plays Officer Crabtree has a young relative called Tomas Eames who plays a detective in a lovely contemporary British series called Shakespeare & Hathaway. I swear he looks so much like Officer Crabtree (complete with moustache) that the minute he appears on screen you expect him to say "Good moaning:.. xxx
Gid ubservatoon.
The show re-airs every once in a while on Bulgarian tv, I've rewatched it a couple of times, it is indeed a gem, may Gordon Kaye rest easy
Vicki Michelle still looked good in “The Return of ‘Allo ‘Allo!” was broadcast on BBC Two on Saturday, April 28th, 2007
Gordon will never rest. He is always on the job.

Such a shame edith and the colonel passed away just a few years before this im sure they would have been here, such a great series
The joy in the faces of the actors at the end. So happy they brought so much joy, not only to the studio audience but also to so many people over the years.
I've been watching Allo Allo my whole life, but I never knew of The Return. Even after watching it over and over for 30+ years, I keep loving it more and more
Wouldn't matter, in the end it doesn't change anything, time moves too fast and we all get old, i remember they did "are you being served" new series where their adventures are outside of the store, but that was over 20yrs ago i believe, hell i remember heston blumenthal had a "70s episode" for his HESTON FEAST series and the young guy on the show was already SUPER old and even that show is many years back
The most amazing show and the best cast ever. So many still with us not mentioned here or the show

So many gone but not forgotten RIP to all below 🌈🙏🏻

Francesca Gonshaw retired from acting in 1990
Very happy to say that Yvette, Mimi, the iconic Lt. Gruber, Michelle and the amazing Officer Crabtree are all still alive and most of them do work related to the series. Arthur Bostrom has a youtube channel where he plays the Officer character.
@@xthefordx Fun fact: Lt. Gruber had a small part in POTC The Curse of the Black Pearl.
it was odd that Helga could not appear for this. In the canonical ending of Allo Allo, she and Gruber got married.
@@michelvanderlinden8363 and if I remember correctly, Gruber was very successful.
A true golden era of British Comedy with the most amazing actors and actresses some of which are sadly no longer with us ❤
Just brilliant. Allo Allo was one of my favourite TV comedy shows. I was born in 1955 so after WW2 but what I loved about this show is it took the pi*s out of everyone - the British, the Germans, the Italians and the French. So funny. British comedy is the absolute best. And I will never understand how the cast managed to keep straight faces with some of the lines they had to deliver. Great stuff. Thank you all. xx
When television was about quality over quantity! Grew up watching these and they are timeless classics.
One the best comedies of all time, will always miss you Garden Kaye
Gorden
@@BillPurkayastha No, no, it's Garden, okaye?
RIP Gordon Kaye, you made me laugh over the years and i have a lot of happy memories of Allo Allo
I’m so grateful for the lovely memories Allo Allo has brought back. First as a child in the 80s watching it with mum and dad and then watching it again with my dad when he was Ill. It was one of the few things he still enjoyed before I lost him in 2021. Thank you Allo Allo for all the laughter you brought to my family and the happy memories of watching it with mum and dad. RIP to all the lovely actors who are no longer with us❤❤❤
Im 33 and in the 90's i watched allo allo at my grandma place after school in Polish TV years later i watched it online in orginal and loved it even more. Im lucky YT recomend this to me today. ❤
I will say this only once: this is one of the best memoires For me.
I was lucky enough to see the stage show in London on two occasions. It was even more fun than you could imagine. Gorden Kaye was a real “corpser” and would dissolve into fits of giggles….. oh how I miss this show
Yep
Brits always have been masters at comedy, this is a very true example. Have been watching them from the Netherlands for years, always loving the use of the various accents and words. Not just a comedy, worldclass concept.
I grew up watching this with my late grandmother who passed away in 2018 and it is still just as funny as it was back then as it is today RIP to all of the great people who have left us such as Rene Artios the hero of the Resistance, Madame Fanny, Monsieur Alfonse the undertaker Madame Edith, Captain Hans and many others thank you all for bringing laughter into our lives 👍❤️🥲
Innocent comedy with no hidden agenda. Absolutely brilliant!😃
From a time when comedies were made to make you laugh, not to educate or proselytise.
@@johncorrall1739 well said.....
now we are supposed to think before we laugh !
Vicky Michelle and Kirsten Cooke still looked great, so sad that many of the original cast had passed away when this was made.
Vicki Michelle in particular genuinely looked like she had aged about 5 years at most.
Allo Allo, one of the best series ever made. If only the world would still make entertainment like this! This ''re-union'' brought a tear to my eye.
Allo 'Allo was a staple diet in our house growing up. It went alongside Only Fools, One foot in the Grave, Open all Hours, Dad's Army, Fawlty Towers etc etc.
When it came on, it was never turned off. I fondly remember my Dad howling and crying tears laughing so much in the evening watching an episode and still to this day, even though he is now gone, any one of us will watch it and be cracking up again. One of his common catch phrases was 'Whatta mistaka t'make'. The amount of people I've met over the years who have integrated Allo 'Allo catchphrases into their vocabulary is incredible. It shows how much these classic sitcoms influence people, but in a good way.
Just watching Officer Crabtree in this reunion I was laughing out loud, it's just so bloody funny. It's a comedy like Only Fools that transcends ages and generations. I'm just so glad reading the comments how many of the new generations are watching this today and getting as much enjoyment from it for the first time as we all did 30+ years ago.
Just hearing the music alone is deeply nostalgic and produces bittersweet feelings. I get the same with Last of the Summer Wine, another of my dads favourites.
A Sunday evening if memory serves.
Definitely one of the best shows ever made
I wish that more of the cast could have participated, but those that did looked like they enjoyed being there for the fans.
I went back to live in France a few years ago, after 20 years in the UK. In my luggage was the whole collection of allo allo episodes! Love that series. It's sad some of them were dead at the time of this broadcast and that some have departed since. Gone but not forgotten. Shame Helga, von Smallhausen, Hans Geering, Maria, Louise (of the communist resistance) Captain Bertorelli, and herr Flick weren't there. Thanks to all who worked to make such a wonderful and fun series. You all deserve the legion d'honneur!
I can't believe Helga wasn't there.
@@BedsitBob Her actress was ill at the time they made this, so she couldn't be there
Canonically, Flick was most likely executed and Smallhausen was in prison
Wonderful to renew my acquaintance with is wonderful show so many decades on.
Still as hilarious as ever.
Usually 'return of' shows like this are cringeworthy, but this was actually really good and a great watch and really well scripted. One of my favourites from back in the day 🙂
I love british comedies and movies. The British and the early Japenese actors and actresses are the greatest..
A most infamous, hillarious, romantic comedy premiere I have ever seen. It cracks me up no matter how many times I watch Allo Allo. It's the number one Comedy will ever remember. So wonderful to see them in this come back series. Foreign comedies are far more funny. Thank you for letting us enjoy the return of Allo Allo. Mahalo and Aloha..
bless old gordon, such a talent and to say some of the lines he says with a straight face, what a legend,
I loved 'Allo Allo so much and have watched it many times. But I have never figured out how any of the cast managed to keep straight faces when delivering their lines. British comedy at its absolute best. xxx
Now listen very carefully..........How wonderful to find this. They are all a treasure. The golden age of TV comedy, and none better.
I remembee rushing home when I was a kid to watch this. All kids used to dissapear from the street just to see it. Good times. I never thought that a family watching a tv together would be dearly missed thing.
Wish I was there to watch this, the audience is damn lucky
This is one of the best tv series I ever had pleasure watching growing up thank to Sweden re-running it in the 2000.
that sound, when times were easy, that sound, that fills with joy. This show has saved so many lives, youd be shocked. Thank you whoever wrote it and Thank you for everyone involved. The opening song hits me like a bullet every, every time.
To a guy who loves the old episodes, this is absolutely beautiful, thank you. Please share more if able, this is heartwarming. My eyes are leaking in the good way.
Loved this show growing up. RIP al the actors who passed over the years
+ ‘l’ and ‘.’, but definitely . . . ‘Yes’.
I was about 5 when I first saw the series. Loved it since. Rewatching all the episodes now once again
Fond memories of watching the show, a pleasant surprise. Thank you very much for uploading this show.
Glad to find this...good memories, and a great episode.
loved watching Allo Allo when we moved over to England - such clever comedy and double entendre a la "Carry On" .. I definitely need to have the box set and introduce my kids to this genius
My dad would watch and tape every episode of ‘ALLO! ‘ALLO! that he could; and I would watch every episode of ARE YOU BEING SERVED? that I could. Although we have had some wonderful comedy series and sketches here in America, watching Britcoms was in a sense like dining on wonderful English cuisine…
My favorite comedy when I was a child ..such a fabulous reunion
The music to this show always makes me feel warm and happy. I was lucky enough to see a live performance at Tottenham court road in London.
The skit has brought back so many nostalgic moments.
I love this show, I watch it from time to time, and in my opinion, there were will never be a funnier or better show. The idea of French/English talking is pure genius!!!!! Watching this was a great treat!!! I loved it as it was something new to watch from these great talents. Too bad not all the characters were in it, but still it was great.
It was such a yoj....during 80es, watching " Allo..allo"
And...I should tell this only once....
Thank you.....
All the best from Cr🌞atia
I enjoyed a breakfast sharing a table / tables with the cast while they were shooting this, So suddenly realised they were all around me. Fab show, lovely people. Long may generations enjoy.
yvette has not aged a day, in like over 30 years or more, wow, she looks amazing
My girlfriend and I watched the box set during COVID lockdown, she absolutely loved it
What an amazing trip down memory lane. I was always sad when the episodes ended and the music started playing.
Allo 'Allo, we meet again
And just as before
Our eyes reveal the secrets we
Keep hidden
It seems it was so long ago
That we said goodbye
With promises we left
Unspoken
We loved, we parted
As fate had arranged
Now there you stand
And nothing has changed
And so it goes, the same refrain
The final encore
I miss this show so much. ❤
One of my most favorite British comedies.
What a wonderful video. Oh how nostalgic. Thank you for uploading.
Thank you very much for this..... and remember those who are no longer here..... EVERY ONE!!!!!!!! We will always love the cast from ´Allo Allo` 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤
It was bittersweet to screen this knowing so many of the principals have passed now. I missed Carmen Silvera in this programme, may she rest in peace. Both she and Rose Hill passed. They spent their last years in a home for actors. So sad to know they did not have family to be with or enough money to be able to stay in a home of their own. Gorden (sic) Kaye is also passed. 'Allo, 'Allo! still makes me smile. Hard to believe the series dates back to the 1990s.
Another programme from David Croft is "It Ain't Half Hot Mum." If you have not screen it, it is absolutely brilliant. Sad it will never be rerun due to political correctness, but it is one of the finest Britcoms ever and well worth your time to screen it.
They do still show it on various channels it was on UK Gold at one stage and i think its on Britbox etc also they show alot of the Non PC stuff from the 70s etc on things like thatsTV i watched an episode of The Goodies first broadcast in 1970 on there the other day and had a warning saying it reflected the the thinking of the time and not to watch if you are sensitive to these issues but i found it tame no bad language whatsoever maybe some smut innuendo and portraying of women non pc but other than that don't get it such paranoia these days 🙄 by the way Allo Allo actually started in 82
@@mrbee4life182 There are some fantastic programmes being withheld because some people insist on being insulted. Political correctness goes too far. I see it here, too. We had a programme many years ago called Amos 'n Andy that will never be broadcast again because of political correctness which is a shame because it was a funny, beloved programme that showed how humans think regardless of race, age, sex, etc. Maybe some day far into the future, old wounds will be so far behind. us that these old programmes will be able to come back and be enjoyed for what they were---fun entertainment.
You can see on Gordon's forehead the scar from where he was hit by an object thrown by kids from a motorway bridge
@@speedbird737 wrong he was hit by debris from a big storm we had in 90
Hello Nighthawk, this is London calling: At the time of posting Allo Allo is airing on Drama (Ch20 Freeview/Ch60 +1) Mon-Fri 6:40pm in the UK. They are currently a few episodes past the Great Escape... Drama is part of UK TV Play so you should be able to watch some of the last week or so episodes online for free.
I had a smile on my face from the first minute until the last... Thank you for posting!!!
Easily in the top 10 British sitcoms of all time
Lovely to see the Rene and the gang again. Lots of talented actors. May all that have passed rest in peace.😊
What a wonderful series this was, with some wonderful characters. Sadly missed.
Love it, still watch it and laugh and can never get the image of Herr flick in a suit of armour limping out my head. Genius writing and acting I was hoping he would pop up with Helga but sadly not but still enjoyed it! thanks for upload. 👍
The most funniest British sitcom ever ! thanks so much for posting.
British humour does not always get along with me but this series was my absolute favorite
Biggest smile on my face now. This was so awesome to see again!
I had the joy of seeing a live performance when the cast came to Wellington in the latter 80s or early 90s. It was just has hilariously funny as the tv show. They don't make them like that anymore. Thank you for sharing.
I went to see Allo Allo on the stage in London. It was Gordon Kaye's first performance following his dreadful accident.
It was an amazing show. One of the funniest things ever !
The scar on his forehead was always a reminder of that awful accident he had.
so many years afterwards and still so emotive! I love you folks!! best from Nuuk, Greenland. I watched you in Sweden Spain and in Greenland.
A very pleasant surprise, this! Brings a tear to the eye.
What a nice and moving video. We loved that serie with all our heart. This video left a sadness feeling too.
Excellent, they will never get old and always make folks laugh god bless Allo Allo. 😃
Great to see some members of The SS in amongst the audience cheering on René in the opening few seconds!
I’ve watched this series that originally aired before my birth a few times yet had no idea there was this comeback special, as having grandparents live through the war it’s nice to know of the facts they mention and see how the humorous side was brought out in such a honourable sitcom
Just brilliant :-D One of my all time favourite comedy shows :-) Great seeing Guy Siner (Gruber) again. He had a cameo in Pirates of the Caribbean.
Ah this was a joy to watch again. Allo Allo will always have a special place in my comedy faves. It also has the honour of being the only one of my local Am Dram's productions based on a BBC comedy I've been to see. Dunno if they've done Open All Hours or not, but their Dad's Army was very popular.
Such wonderful memories sitting with my family and watching Allo Allo, better times I think. ❤
I love this show and would loved to have seen it in real life, even these days me and the mrs would emulate herr grüber when we pass another car that has let us go and vice versa, as they showed their hand in celebration, we would raise our and say “club!” This show was a real treat to watch. Great times and great memories..
The show has aged better than a lot although it's still aged. But despite that, it's still better than most of the crap on TV today. It may just be that I am getting old but I find most of the TV barely watchable today.
absolutely brilliant i did not even know about this still watch it on u every Sunday 'i will only say this once' always makes me laugh out loud 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Rewatching series in 2021
Recently had the pleasure to meet the actor who played crabtree, guy was brilliant and told me a couple stories from when the show was made even the surprise he got when he landed a role on it
The heroes of my teenage days. It was a spectacle - thank God there was no binging back then and we were looking forward to every episode.
Almost everyone identified themselves as one of the characters (I recall no one of the boys wanted to be Rene and everyone of the girls wanted to be Michelle)...happy days, they've brought so many joy and joyful memories to us.
That was wonderfull to see! & some of the audience got dressed up in period costume too - that's so great well done to those! - I'm sure the cast appreciated that too!
I was introduced to these show in late 2000s, i loved it, they were showing many old shows, thank goodness for reruns, who knows how many other funny shows from that time exits that probably people dont know about. I know i watched this, the golden girls, the nanny, it was so funny
That was so brilliant. this was undoubtedlly the best comedy ever on British tv, I was so privelidged to be able to watch it first time around. These characters are amazing- so sorry to hear dear old Gordon kaye passed.
I just finished all sesosn right now. It's really sad to see them old. I really like british comedy.
But feeling really sad they all are so old now. Love all of them.
Captain Hans very good performer. I wondered why he left the series later.
I remember the very first pilot series in the early eighties. I laughed so much my ribs ached.
Velmi moc děkujeme za tuto možnost se podívat na tuto úžasnou epizodu...v České republice je to velmi oblíbený seriál. Bylo to krásné a smutné ❤️ 🇨🇿
Gordon Kaye (René) died in early 2017 because of Dementia and kidney failure. The scar on his forehead was due a VERY bad accident in a car. Wich he, against all odds did survive. EDIT : For those who did not know = Legion d'honneur medal is the highest honor someone can have in France (In the U.S it would be the medal of honor, and they share the same name too).
Thanks for posting, I hadn't seen this before. A great trip down memory lane.
The look on Kirsten Cooke's face (08:05) when she make her entry. Priceless
......she had that look olly wonce tho !
*she is so pretty even if she is 20 years older than mii I still do her!* ❤
Under the worst miserable times we’re all living at the moment, it’s great to have a good laugh with brilliant people in a brilliant show. !!
Many thanks for this, it made my day. !! 👍🙏
The quality of the all the comedy actors here is superb. Just as in Dad's Army/Only Fools/Fawlty Towers etc etc.
The script would not be funny without the brilliant comic timing of these great actors.
Comedy and laughter is a gift to be shared. Alo alo shared to millions and like dad's army will go on and on.
When I visited France, visitng Nouvion was a must😁unfortunately, there was no Cafe Rene😭😭
god this was one of the best tv shows. the music is fire!
Thanks for putting this onto your channel, I watched every show, or at least I thought I had. I had no idea that this existed. Thank you.
You can see the scar from the accident even more clearly as he got older
