I love how Sailrite gives instructions for machine repairs and maintenance! I have an old domestic mechanical sewing machine, and I have learned how to do many repairs and maintenance myself, saving a ton of money. Unfortunately, I have a newer domestic machine (computerized Babylock) for quilting, and even though I absolutely LOVE the machine, it’s made so that it needs to go into a shop yearly for cleaning and maintenance. I get it that many folks are intimidated about working on their machines, and that’s too bad in a way, because most of it is not too difficult with the help of RUclips videos, lol! I bought Babylock online, so a local authorized Babylock dealer will do the work for about $130 each year. If you’re not an authorized dealer or repair person, you can’t purchase replacement parts, and it voids the warranty, is how I understand it. I think if I had purchased the machine from a dealer, yes the machine would have been more expensive, but the dealer will do the maintenance for free or for a reduced price. Anyway, I love my new Sailrite LSZ that I just received! And thank you for the excellent customer service. 😊

Hi all, I just received my LSZ-1. Had ordered the plus package. Watched many hours of setup and how to use. Bought a Sunbrella® Carry‑All Tote Bag Kit. Followed all of the video watching several times. While sewing the second bag at the "sew on the pockets", during the first reverse stitching the bottom the machine locked up. I stopped sewing and looked for a thread bind. What I found is the hook assembly is 90 degrees ahead of the hook to loop grab position. So ... I can manually rotate up to needle plunge. The needle is hitting at the hole behind the hook point but staying in the center of the cap spring. For one, after paying over $1400 for a machine and accessories, I would expect that it would be correct and run without problems through at least one kit. I'm disheartened. I can't find any videos on how to RESET the rotation of the hook timing. I live in ALaska. To ship my unit anyware it costs $180 and higher. Please HELP. I have had this unit a week and i'm using it for the first time.

Quick question would it be advisable to use a Loctite on the plate screws

No, you do not need to use it for the cap spring.

If that's an actual file not a diamond file you should never pull back on a file. You can break the teeth off the file. Always push a file forward.
