  • To properly maintain your Ultrafeed Sewing Machine, we recommend oiling it at least twice a year, before it is put in storage or if the machine sounds like it’s running roughly. We’ll walk you through how to oil your Ultrafeed in this video.

As a technical writer I have to say the guidebook for this machine is well done.

I watched only because the manual didn't say what screws to remove to take off the cover. Maybe that could be clearer in future manuals.

some things are so easy if you know them already... Re-assembly of the hook is not clear.

I'm a tiny bit disappointed...it would have been a little better for you to have shown every oil location.
But I get the drift; anywhere there is metal moving on metal.
Also, maybe gone into "good", "better" and "best" oils to use. Though admittedly that usually devolves on motorcycle forums!
The Zoom oil spout is a good tip!
    Thanks!

There is a full color guide for the Ultrafeed LS1 and LSZ1 on the Sailrite website that shows the oiling points in detail, but as he said, any moving part with metal on metal requires a drop of oil periodically.

I was going to buy the ls-1 premium but all this oiling is too much for me. Plus putting the machine together. I thought it would come fully assembled.

Is it because it’s a manual/mechanical machine that ‘blowing’ the dust out is acceptable? With electronic machines that is a no-no as it in-beds/pushes dust further into the mechanisms. Vacuum or brush is recommended. This is good to know. I guess I’m going to have to stop yelling at my husband when he’s helping me and blows the dust away!

Blowing out dust isn't a "no-no" on electronics. I used canned air on my PC's and electronic devices all the time for years and never had a problem.

You might want to check your user manual, lots of good info in there unless you can't spare the time to properly learn about the machine

@@SailriteDIY what product do you recommend to remove old built up oil/soot/grease from metal parts? Tri-flow, Kerosene, WD-40, baby oil? There really is no consensus on youtube.
