The 50 is way more practical than the 5. The back can fit dogs, the doors open wide, visibility is awesome, and it doesn't look old. It's one of my favorite in the line up. Mazda is really punching above its weight.
I’ve been trying to find the actual size in the back of the CX 50 compared to the Lexus NX. Because I think it has more room than the NX. I was really interested in the NX and the CX50 when I started shopping for a new car, but to get the features that I have in the trim on my CX 50, that NX would’ve had to come in a luxury package with other extras, putting it over 52 or $53,000!
@@eleanormassaro5195Oh yes, I love the Lexus NX F SPORT but the only thing missing on the NX is the spare tire. I don't like to drive outside of the state, especially the remote areas without a spare tire. That's why I go to CX50 TPP 2024 with 0.0% APR.
I’ve purchased the 24’ CX50t Meridian and was concerned about The 8~Speaker sound system. I looked it up on various Mazda forums etc before my purchase. The seatbelt rings 8 times then shuts off. There is a setting for Drivers seat in the Sound setup, be sure to check that box first as the sound system is set for full occupancy sound at the factory, Once you do that it also has a 25 channel EQ buried in the Sound control knob. It’s titled ADVANCED EQ adjustment. There are 25 separate frequency ranges from super highs down to sun bass frequencies. It’s set up in groups of 5 a across a grid w/ slider controls. There is also an auto outside noise phaser that that will tweak the sound based on its input from outside the auto. Once I found that, as a musician I couldn’t be happier w/ that Easter egg! Daily I find more subtle Mazda design that makes the CX50 one of the least overly technical based vehicle. Mazda only changes what is necessary and not going w/ the huge touch screens. Often the tech will glitch even while insta a simple battery. Mazda & Toyota are working together with this philosophy. Mazdas are more of a drivers auto w/ subtlety execution of its design. Watch out Audi…! I hope the 25 range EQ helps others appreciate Mazdas not broken don’t change it up. The Bose is a great system hate the 20” slam dunk wheels in Mi. The Meridian is the sweet spot for sure. Great Video as always.
The 8-speaker Soundsystem is really not that bad. When I was test driving the different trims I got to experience it. I still went with a trim that has the Bose system because I really like it. I have a premium plus non-turbo, and I love the look of the 20-inch wheels.
I'm honestly happy that Mazda is doing so good these days. Great looking exterior, beautiful interior, good handling and driving feel and on the top of that, Japanese reliability, while not being overly expensive. What more can you want? Maybe a rwd sedan 😄
Fun fact if you pick up these Falkens in the 235 size instead of 225, you'd save at least $30 per tire, get a bit more ground clearance, fill the fenders a bit more in 3D space, and it would still make sense with the wheel width which is 8". Just another reason not to get the Meridian. Also, the Meridian in Canada is fully loaded and far more affordable.
I have a 2023 Meridian - and thankfully in Canada trims are different here. Meridian is the top trim level and essentially an appearance package for the GT (Turbo Premium Plus US spec). Nice to get the Meridian look but still have all the features and the smaller wheels. Better ride and saves my rims from the curb haha.
I traded my carbon trim 3 with the Bose for a carbon turbo 3 without Bose. I was very hesitant because I loved the Bose but ultimately the turbo won. The 8 speaker is not bad but it’s also a smaller car.
I honestly wanted a CX-50, low wide and cool! Unfortunately, it is not sold in my home country, Japan, because the roads are too narrow and the parking lots are generally too small. Even if I could parallel import it, as mentioned above, the roads and parking lots are too narrow.
Yes, for the price of the Meridian trim. It should at least have the Bose system and the ventilated seats! I have the opposite issue with my pano sunroof in my CX 50. It’s only when I open it and driving over rough patches on the road and maybe a windy day that I get some sort of rattle. When the sunroof is closed, no rattles at all!
Agree. It is why I ended up with a Subaru Outback Onyx. for 36K I got Harmon Kardon and a heated steering wheel. I live in northern Wisconsin so that is important to me. I did get base engine, but it works totally fine. I drove a CX-50. but I wasn't paying almost 10K more for a few more HP and less of everything else. I did love the way the CX-50 looks.
Thanks, for the reviews. Love your videos. In my opinion, the best thing about this model is the off road tires. I'd get the top of the line turbo and put the Falken tires on it if I went off-roading. Overall I still prefer my CX-5 to the CX-50.
A lot of people say that the CX-5 is "long in the tooth" compared to the CX-50, but comparing both, you get the same features (or more) at a lower price point, a more refined ride, independent rear suspension and exactly the same tech. CX-5 for me all day, even in 2024.
One of my favorite features on my ‘18 XC60 is the seatbelt chime. It notifies you once, then treats you like an adult and shuts up. This is really nice when you have cargo on the passenger seats.
It's really weird the way that seatbelt chime works in the US, in my country, it only starts chiming once you are above 10km/h for both driver and passenger
I have a 22 CX 5 Carbon. One of the few complaints is about the seat cushions. They feel fine at first, actually very comfortable and expensive feeling, but after about an hour of driving, my ass feels like I'm sitting on concrete. Passengers often make same complaint. They feel like they'll last forever, but my ass bones might not, lol! Lucky for me, I mostly use it for shorter trips, so, not a big deal .. and the rest of the car is damn near perfect.

I was a little disappointed with the driving of the CX-50. Even the CX-9 is more fun to drive, IMO. Haven't driven anything with the new drivetrain yet but the CX-70 looks promising (even though it is massive)
Glad you mentioned the rattles, both the Mazda3 I had before and CX-30 I currently have drive me insane with the rattles. I hear them mostly in the drivers side door and I believe from the HUD area. Besides the rattles and the super small gas tank, I've really enjoyed the 30 but it would make it more difficult to consider a new Mazda if history just repeats itself.

To be fair, the chime is doing its job very well. You put your seatbelt on. A surprising number of people do not....
People even buy a small device to plug in to the seatbelts to stop the car from bugging them; they would do anything to not have to wear a seatbelt
The smarter/logical way to do it would be to chime if you were to start driving without a seatbelt on, like most cars on the road today.
