    I actually quite like this. For a reasonably sporty sedan that you intend to own long-term, this might be one of the best cars out there. More long-term reliability than anything from the germans (maybe aside from like an M340i with the current B58/ZF 8 speed), and still a lot of high quality leathers and interior materials compared to a lot of those germans who are unfortunately moving to gloss black and other cheaper plastics in the attempt to make the interiors look "sleek" and "modern".
    Plus, the V6 sounds pretty good and it's a fun level of speed for the street. You actually get to go through a couple gears before you hit the speed limit, which is one thing I miss about my RS3 and one of the reasons I kinda wish I'd left it stock. Definitely a fun car and I've always loved the looks of this refresh.

    • @CU08
      @CU08 11 месяцев назад +31

      Build quality isn't there. I finally got rid of my new-age Acura because of all the rattles and interior noises. Honda can't do "premium". They make fun cars to drive, but are bottom of the barrel when it comes to putting a car together. We got a Lexus GX that made Acura feel like an entry-level vehicle. Lexus and the Germans are in a different league than Acura, which is why they're bargain priced. Last Acura I'll ever own.

      Unfortunately this couldn't be further from the truth. Acura's QC for their modern cars is an absolute disaster, this car shouldn't be convincing anyone to buy it when there exists options that are vastly superior in the same price range, yet they still get off on the illusion that it has "Honda Reliability". I guess we'll really see in the coming years if the J30AC is any good, but if the overall J35Y6 recall is anything to go off of, I wouldn't be holding my breath, not to mention this recall effected my 2019 TLX, 100% the first & last Acura I'll be buying.

      I was shopping around a year ago for a fun dad car. I really liked the TLX but the reliability isn't what it used to be when you dive into the forums. It's not bad but not as great as the Hondas of old.
      Also, the dimensions of this car are simply out of whack. The backseat is brutal. Great car otherwise in terms of balance of comfort and driving dynamics.
      I think the m340 is still the gold standard. I ended up with an S5 Sportback for a bit more comfort and practicality. The EA839 3.0T seems to be surprisingly reliable in high mileage anecdotes and is widely used across the Audi (and a bit of Porsche) lineup.

I drive close to 20k miles per year and the TLX Type S would require quite a bit in gas money each year. I’m still thinking about it but my pragmatic side is telling me to stick with my Accord Touring 2.0T for a while longer. Most of my miles are on the highway and I’m averaging 30 in my Accord. Would probably drop to 23 or so in this car. It is such a looker though. If I were to buy one, it would be identical to the one in this video. Love the Urban Gray with the red leather. Gorgeous car! Having had multiple accord V-6s and driven a touring 2.0t, I'd keep it unless you want the insane handling (also, good looking mine is performance red lol). The gas mileage even in my 21' TLX 2.0t AWD is iffy it's more like 17-18 city 30 hwy in my experience. Can't speak for the Type-S though but I'd be shocked if it wasn't significantly worse than the 2.0t considering they share the same 10-speed/AWD setup. Also have to factor in premium gas vs accord. Idk if the S is required or recommended like the 2.0T but it doesn't run as great on regular so just something to consider. You have a great car, I'd stick with it! :-)

    Thank you for testing the adaptive cruise control, lane centering, and other driver assistance features! These rarely get discussed beyond "it has them" but no details of how they _feel_ to use as a driver. If I'm buying a car as a daily driver or more than a Sunday racer then I want to know how it feels, if it works well, and if it's comfortable or awkward or intuitive to use. Oh! And does it have remote start on the key fob, NOT through an app?
    I'd also like to hear/see what you think of the infotainment system, auto wipers, auto high beams, etc. as my current car has so many great features but they just feel like they aren't tuned the way I want them to be. For example, the adaptive cruise control is far too sensitive to cars entering or leaving your lane and going down hills (to the point it kind of feels unsafe if I was another driver on the road).

    A subtle design note that I really like is the position of the screen. It is pretty well positioned in a driver's line-of-sight so you can see the road without looking down where it might more typically be (nearer the hazard switch). They still manage to keep the dash nice and low on their sedans no matter the generation or model, and no matter the safety regulations mandating thicker pillars and sight lines. I loved the visibility out of my 08 civic.
    Steering wheel right in the lap, and every control well within arms' reach. I really like how Acura has learned from poorer interior design choices like the dual screen setup and almost bloated looking interior. I almost bought a 2020 but wasn't a huge fan of the interior design even then. Went with a mk7 GTI instead. This is a great culmination of their learned-from mistakes and pursuit of excellence, akin to Lexus.

    Very nice looking sedan, great exterior, nice interior. The only letdown I think is the engine, 355HP is not that big a number in a 4,200lb AWD sedan. Slap another turbo on that 3.0L, give it another 60-70HP than you're looking at some serious performance, but as it stands now, straight line performance is kinda underwhelming for something thats called the Type-S. That AWD system is incredible though.

      This has a better power-to-weight ratio than a G37x. And this is a type-s and not a type-r. I suppose if you wanted proper straight line performance get an NSX or a Civic Type R. Also, this car already has twin turbos. Would it even be possible to put a third turbo on there? if so then I wholeheartedly agree that would be epic.

Man this Type S’s are so refined and comfy, but feeling the SHAWD kick in around turns is so fun! Really the touchpad is the only thing that annoys me, but I’m sure I’d get used to it. Shifting is just a flick of the finger and I keep my arm on the arm rest and don’t even have to move it. The newer Acuras place it forward, higher, and central where it’s more awkward to reach and use.
