alot of the 79 to 125 mp3 players the surfans dat playerand the Z6 music dat player
will start to lock up after a hour and 30 mins and over heat !!!! , so does the Sony NW-A306 lock up too ???
I have mine for 1,5 month now and I am happy with. I found a seller in Japan so I have an uncapped version.
Uncapped is the way to go!
GY!BE and Mr Bungle, nice. I've had the A306 for a week and am loving it. My IEM has no problem with the volume levels. Loaded a 1tb with 17k songs in FLAC.
Its a great player! We seen Mr Bungle in NYC at the start of the bunny tour and want to see him again soon. Enjoy the player!
Hey tuxx, do you know what different between sony NWA-306 US version vs Japanese version? I m in Thailand.
The US edition has a volume limited to be inline with the WHO and there guidelines for healthy hearing. Its LAME as when I was a little kid I could monitor my volumes just fine and i'm sure kids in 2024 can too. Heck have the parents monior it but not the goverment limiting volume. Its sad and lame imo.
Great video! I wish I knew about the Sony DAP before I purchased my Surfans f28 DAP. I might still get the Sony as I love their products! I load the full albums.
I have several Surfans, good units but it's hard to beat Sony.

Depends on your collection I would say just a tad bigger than you need but not going to an extreme - You can always get a bigger card latter - So I would say 256 gig depending on your collection. This device is best used as a DAP with the native music app and not as a streamer. Tidal was finicky (prob Tidal’s fault), battery life was also an issue. It’s a good player for a specific music lover.
Real music files are my preference over streaming 100%
Battery last a lot longer if it's de-googled and apps not used often disabled or deleted

You mentioned that there were some software updates to slightly push the volume cap in the US version. Do you happen to know which ones? This is the first I've heard of this.
Disclaimer: NO update 100% removes the volume limiter but they have tweaked the sound by increasing bass and changing / updating settings. The biggest change (to me) was 1.02. Matched with the right ear buds (example Sony WF-1000XM5 amzn.to/3K8g7b8 ) its plently lould / enjoyable.
I'm enjoying using my NW-A306. It's a nice DAP, with great sound quality and I like the size of the player.
Its a great DAP with the most advanced sound filters of any DAP at (or even twice) the pricepoint. Great purchase! Enjoy!
I have had one for a while.
Somewhat overhyped.
Analog out is weak resulting in thin sound. It cannot be used with planar headphones.
It is fine for casual outside listening, but it's no better than a flashmodded iPod classic in that environment.
I usually add a dragonfly cobalt via USB for more dynamic sound.
I use it daily as a streamer to a Wiim, but with other music apps it is buggy and baulky.
I use it with VLC,UAPP, and mConnect. Again it is buggy with these apps.
I found the cassette screen to be a gimmic and turned it off within a few hours of ownership.
It is worth the $ in 2004, but not for serious headphone listening.
2004 LOL ... What are you using? Lame apple products? I think your just hating on sony. Prove me wrong and send me a photo (Send to tuxxtoys@gmail.com) of your Planar headphones and DAP of choice with my you tube in the background - to prove its you and not a google image. Lets see what you use! Please tell me its not some lame app store apps with doggled USB -C Headphones.
Do you have any tips on creating Playlists on your pc rather than individually in the DAP?
I typically make "playlists" on the PC by using a tagging program, then make a special tag (example" 2024, car songs etc) This way if you play on PC, DAP, Car you just search by genere ruclips.net/video/10D9aCOTc54/видео.html We have two C7 corvettes and move flash memory cards between then and this way you can access playlists by searching by genere.

From your user name I tak eit you drive a chevy? I love my C7 but with the corvette would read flac files and it doesnt so in car I have to use migher quality mp3s (not flac). DSF is my favorite format.
@@TUXXREVIEWS I hv a Chevy but my daily is a Camry and the iPod froze and rebooted. Needed this players Bluetooth. Haven’t tried a wired connection with the a306 and Toyota.
Can it play dolby atmos files?
it doesnt say dolby atmos but that doesnt mean they wont play or even wont play in Atmos. dolby atmos has allot to do with the speakers and thats a varable not included in the box. I believe it would play the files (my best guess) but may not be in dolby atmos. May be in Sony reality 3D audio.
