Okay, I've never heard of this channel and i have been watching a number of well polished channels by professionals (e.g. Retired career Military and LEO) and this is the first video of yours I have seen. You are very clear, concise and yet detailed with no needless bravado. I'm impressed and I subscribed.
In addition to the benefits of a long slide that you mentioned, there is another key benefit to a long slide for 45ACP specifically. When shooting a traditional 45 round (not a hollow point or other form of defensive round), the bullet functions as designed by mushrooming. In one study that I saw, they tested the 45 with three different barrel lengths: 5", 4.5" and 4" and shot (I believe) some kind of meat target. With the 5" barrel, the bullet mushroomed really well. With the 4.5" barrel, it deformed, but didn't mushroom the way it was supposed to. With the 4" barrel, it barely deformed at all. So, at least based on that one study, it takes at least a 5" barrel for a traditional 45ACP round to function as designed. A Glock 41 is the only 45ACP Glock with a slide long enough to meet that particular criterion. Of course if you're shooting a 45ACP hollow point, the barrel length doesn't matter much in that regard.
I know this comment is old, but what guns were used in that test? Because a glock 21(with a modern polygonal rifling) with 4.6" barrel can have the same muzzle velocity as a 5" 1911(which has the older rifling). I've read some tests where guns had even a slightly higher velocity, despite the shorter barrel.
I love my 41 MOS I also love the backstraps. My hands are so big that I need the large beaver tail backstrap. But it’s the only handgun I own that fits my hand 100% perfect.
I get hear you. In high school I was called "the crab" because of my huge hands and fore arms. I am not even tall (5,10) to disguise them! Although I don't use the backstraps it fits like a glove as it is with my middle finger slightly underlying under the thumb in a comfortable way.
Another thing about the Glock I’ve the 1911 is the reliability right out of the box. The Glock is the only gun I will take out of the box, load it, throw it in a holster and carry it.
I really like the 41. It is soft in the hand when firing. I got mine used with night sights and a Vortex Venom already installed. I didn't really care for the extra length of the 40 (10mm) so I picked up a 10mm barrel for the 41. It's now my favorite 10mm as well. Nice presentation.
It seems like a bigger target Glock but honestly it feels, shoots like a 22, 17, 31 series. I'm 51 & used around 150rd 230gr FMJ with little hand pain, strain like the gen 4 Glock 21 .45acp guns.
I rally like your videos, lot of info, great video the one about revolvers, learn a lot s&w or colt, keep up with this great videos, greetings from Argentina!
Was assigned to go a great tactical course with great instructors in Des Moines, IA many years ago during the early days of Glock. Along with all the beneficial skills taught there, I also learned that my Gen 2, Model 19 could be known as "Tactical Tupperware"... LOL.
There will always be those who just can’t get their brain around the idea of a polymer frame pistol being as good as something made out of steel. Yet I will suggest that John Browning himself, given modern manufacturing materials and processes, would have not stopped with all metal frame pistols. The guy was an innovator.
IMO, any Glock is good for a first gun. They are simple reliable, easy to shoot, clean and carry. I never cared much for them until the G17 became my duty weapon. They are solid weapons. And I’m def not a Glock fanboy. I prefer Sig…that being said I have 3 Glocks and the 41 is one of them.
Look. I have like other polymer guns for carry. I love shooting 1911s and I can’t believe I’m going to say this. Right now out of every pistol I have ever shot this is absolutely my favorite hand gun right now. Things dead on accurate. I’m hitting about 6ish inch groups at 20 yards and I’m a crappy pistol shooter. And the recoil really is about like a 9mm. It has less recoil then my 9mm s&w sd9ve
4:10 that is not true. From the Glock homepage data the G21 and G41 have both the same frame width. Only the slide of the 41 is slimmer. If you had a G21 gen 3 there the grip was bigger only from front to back but from side to side it also had the same width. By the way the G41 is over 2 oz lighter than the G21 obviously because of the slimmer slide.
David drake love your content and info was wondering if you can do a video or give info on your thoughts on the smith and Wesson model 19 carry comp since I know you like smiths. Thanks again for all you do and keep it up.
I, highly doubt 🇦🇹 Glock will roll out newer Glock series 21, 20, 41, 40, 30/30S, 29s in gen 5 for at least another 3-4 years. Glock got messed up with 🌏 Covid19 pandemic issues. The US Glock site just now, 10/2022 re started the parts & Glock accessories section of the website. I'm left handed & would like a Glock 40 gen 5 MOS 10mm. The 41 is decent but .45acp is not my main caliber.
@@DavidLLambertmobile thank you for the answer! I’m lefty too. I run 41 in IDPA and i’m feeling good 😎 i’d like to see a 41 gen 5 or some new products in gen 5. We have to wait shoot and hope 😁👍
I got the same model but it is U.S made, kinda bummed me out that I couldn't find a 20, or one made in Austria at my LGS, I feel like I am being extremely picky but I guess since mine is made in the states I won't feel bad about customizing it.
It’s actually not the same frame. The grip is slightly narrower. I watched a video where Jerry Miculek measured them side-by-side with the caliper What I mostly didn’t like about the Glock 21 was the thickness of the slide. Overall it just felt like shooting a block of wood. Personal preference
I did some follow up research on this. According to the Glock website, the width of the slide at the top of the grip is exactly the same. I don’t know if that also includes lower down on the grip were the measurement I mentioned was taken. It’s simply could have been measured incorrectly, which she would not expect from Jerry, but the Internet is full of ‘facts’ right? LOL
I own the Glock G21 & most of the time it’s my EDC pistol. I own a Ruger SR1911 & a Springfield Armory A1 Mil Spec 1911 but @ 48 ounces fully loaded the 1911 is very difficult to carry!! Great video!! Subscribed
I like my 41 MOS. I don't care for the mag releases as the way I hold my pistols they become problematic from being so large, I had to switch to left hand mag release to make it work without unintentional mag drop, it may or may not be my technique or might just be hand size, either way Iv'e never had a problem with that phenomenon with any other pistol other than the Glock 41. While shooting It's muzzle does go back on target well after recoil, so it's definitely a good shooter. I like comparing things too, if there's a point of comparison than compare! Plus it's a way to cram more content into a video which is always a good thing.
Thank you for the video. Ironically I used to be a Glock hater. There ugly, made out of plastic blaa! blaa! blaa!. Now I own 6, and a Glock is my daily carry go figure. I have been looking at one of these for some time since I shot my buddies 1911 and I didn't care for how the gun "felt'. I think I will end up with Glock #7 lol!
I own a gen 4 41 .45acp currently. I've owned Glock 20s 21s in the recent past. The Glock 41 model will be easy to control shoot with less recoil but I had few problems with my excellent Glock 20 10mm. I had a factory Glock grey frame & a Cerakote grey slide. The 20 gen 4 fed & cycled factory 10mm 💯. I've only CCW a few times with my used 41 .45 model. Underwood Ammo 185gr +P JHP.
Can the G21 and the G41 slides interchange? And are they the same width? Slim/single stack seems to be the new fad.. Single stack slim design .45 please!
Papa D After doing some further research it appears that these frames are interchangeable between the 21 and the 41. The big difference is in the thickness of the slide.
The reason your 1911 has so much muzzle rise is because you don't grip the frame properly. Looks like you've been emulating that guy hickok45 with his loose, wild thumbs not doing a dang thing to help with controlling the weapon. You could significantly reduce the rise of both weapons if you'd adjust your grip. Your follow-up shots could be faster and tighter as well. Hint: look at Mojo's pistol shooting tips. ruclips.net/video/ZYi0SNl0VOo/видео.html
I only buy Glocks when it comes to handguns. People that don't like Glock because of that "they're plastic" nonsense are just ignorant and don't know much of anything. The Glocks that explode either have millions of rounds put through them or improperly reloaded ammo in them.

The hole is for access to the front sight.

I either want the Glock model 40 (10mm) or the Glock 41. Anyone have any opinions on which one I should get?
I shoot mine so accurately that it amazes people at the range.
The hole 🕳 on the slide is actually for easier access to the screw that removes the front sight

How often do you get brass to the face with your G41? If any, did you do anything to remedy it?
Never had any problems with 230 gr Federal, but brass will have a tendency to fly back and not sideways if you are limp wristing.

@@Born2doom yes I saw the test. It is not interchangable.
