In my *_OPINION_*, art block is just when when you try to draw, it just looks like trash, more trash than usual. What you have is procrastination. (Yes, i did see the art block video by lavender, i just still have different opinions.)
Don't Forget Me Yeah, that’s not art block. That’s procrastination. Block is a lack of ideas, or a lack of ideas that you feel are worth spending time on. You clearly have ideas. If you don’t want to _end up with_ art block, art every day.

This is all AWESOME advice! Starting a project can seem so daunting! Personally, another super helpful thing I found to help with editing is a this digital book called 'The Story Grid' Shawn Coyne was incredibly helpful for mapping out the writing for the story. He's been a pro editor for decades and made the book to help writers plan. Highly recommend! Also, amazing artwork as always!!!
@Anna Lialine Hahaha, no I just REAAALLY liked the Story Grid. was super helful for me when I was writing a couple books a few years ago so I always recommend it to people who are working on any fiction project :P
adorecutebunny1 1 It is good to organize, but I’d recommend something besides a website builder. Something like the GoodNotes app would work a lot better for this purpose. In the end, you wouldn’t want 90% of what you just needed to organize on your final website anyway.

To Lavendertowne I've had art block recently and it's been troublesome because drawing helps me get rid of all my sadness,anger and regret and turn it into something I can be proud of. So whenever I watch you I get inspired and that blank piece of paper is soon filled and I should really thank you for keeping me inspired :). Thank you!
It is possible to make really easily sorted folders in text programs, I personally use google docs for things like this! Here are a few pointers for anyone who may need them: - Folders are your best friend. Use one for the project in general. Use one inside of that for all the original things or things that need to change. Sort them however you see fit and works for you, but remember. USE FOLDERS. They help so much with being organized. - I personally have a different document for different things. For example: A document for all the characters, one for the concept art or backgrounds, one for the main plot points, one for different aspects you want to incorporate but aren't sure where, etc. - Photos and text don't have to be right next to each other. Very rarely do I have docs with both walls of text AND a bunch of photos. I usually have a doc with a bunch of photos and little text, and vice versa. - They don't have to make sense to an outsider. As long as YOU can make sense of it, then all is fine. Cross reference docs, don't use full sentences, it's information and notes, not an essay paper. - If you use google docs specifically, remember: word documents aren't the only option! You can use slides, spreadsheets, drawings, etc. I use this stuff for video games, and I use spreadsheets for things like stats, items, weapons, literally everything. You don't have to draw in the drawing app, but import other drawings and connect them(Like making notes on a characters appearance), or you can draw in it and make a *very* rough outline for something(like layouts of areas)

I waited a couple of years for the ideas and plot to meld in my mind for a few years, as well as for my art to become “good” (middle school me was not as good at drawing as she thought she was lol) and now it just kinds flows out of my pencil when I sit down to draw. I’m now beginning the rough drafts of my comic :)

I feel you can make really dynamic characters if you know about the world around them. As I create characters I always think of the world around them since what they wear, act like, and think like really attribute to their appearance and design. For example if they live in the runes of a dystopian society you can make them serious and strong, but also based on past life experiences, kind hearted. Give them a strong expression amd maybe tattoos that symbolize what side they decided to take ,,, things like that.

I use OneNote to collect my thoughts! I wrote ideas, take pictures, scribble, etc. And then I can access it from my phone and computer. You can make separate notebooks and tabs for everything. It helps me so much and I've expanded so many ideas I've taken down at 2am into real pieces

I used to have the same problem lol (sometimes still do). What I started doing was actually creating a concrete world for my characters to exist in, so I wouldn't be able to just chuck them into whatever random roles popped into my head. Now to actually start the project?!?!?

To go more into detail on it, the art is a drawing of my 273 characters, except I’m not sure how to get started or how to order the characters. Should I order by species or by hight? Or maybe color?

I've been working on a project for years now, and since I started when I was pretty young I've been rewriting a lot of things, redesigning characters and there's just so MANY notes and bits & pieces of the story across several mediums that it's been hard to keep track of everything. I had a project I worked on for years but never started, and I gave up on it and started a new one. It actually helped and although I’m sad that I abandoned it, my new project still has the same characters, but the new start really helped me actually start the project.

Is it weird that I have no actual projects? Tbh I’m not interested in storytelling and more on character designing lmao
I'm working on making a fictional world, but there isn't a story being told, lol
I'm just writing whatever I think of but maybe that's the matter of that I don't really have the patience to polish my drawings
I feel you can make really dynamic characters if you know about the world around them. As I create characters I always think of the world around them since what they wear, act like, and think like really attribute to their appearance and design.
For example if they live in the runes of a dystopian society you can make them serious and strong, but also based on past life experiences, kind hearted. Give them a strong expression amd maybe tattoos that symbolize what side they decided to take ,,, things like that.
Not everybody likes stories, there's a difference between a comic creator, and just a general artist.
I Love storytelling and coming up with characters but I'm not the best at drawing or animating,
Wow this video is super helpful. I have a story that a want to make into a comic so badly but all I really have done is the main character’s design and a lot of random scene ideas.

I am sooo late but you've given me the determination and inspiration to finally start drawing seriously/put my stories out there! Bits and pieces are lost to time, but that's okay. I've simplified my style, am going to design my main characters tonight and more. I've been at this for just over nine years, and I'm absolutely going to put all of this out to the world.

I use OneNote to collect my thoughts! I wrote ideas, take pictures, scribble, etc. And then I can access it from my phone and computer. You can make separate notebooks and tabs for everything. It helps me so much and I've expanded so many ideas I've taken down at 2am into real pieces

My problem is that the characters I always think of different stories for my characters. Like one day she’s a dinosaur! One day she’s a queen?!
I used to have the same problem lol (sometimes still do).
What I started doing was actually creating a concrete world for my characters to exist in, so I wouldn't be able to just chuck them into whatever random roles popped into my head. Now to actually start the project?!?!?

Hey Lavender I have a question for you! How would you recommend I start on this one huge art piece I have planned? To go more into detail on it, the art is a drawing of my 273 characters, except I’m not sure how to get started or how to order the characters. Should I order by species or by hight? Or maybe color?

Thank you so much for making this video! I've been working on a project for years now, and since I started when I was pretty young I've been rewriting a lot of things, redesigning characters and there's just so MANY notes and bits & pieces of the story across several mediums that it's been hard to keep track of everything. I've never considered the Wix option, but I've gotta say it looks like a dream come true! :'^)
I definitely need to get all of it in one place finally.

I had a project I worked on for years but never started, and I gave up on it and started a new one. It actually helped and although I’m sad that I abandoned it, my new project still has the same characters, but the new start really helped me actually start the project.
