For breakfast I eat Cream of Buckwheat, and I use ground flaxseed in it. I call it Organic Hearty Cream of Buckwheat with Walnuts, Blueberries and Over Easy Eggs. I would like to share with you the recipe. Please read fully before attempting this, it will help. I do my best to eat all organic food. I suggest you use organic as well for the best health benefits. I hope you enjoy. The recipe is: 1. First, crack two eggs in a bowl, set aside for step 10. For reference, I am using a gass stove top. To begin the Cream of Buckwheat, start with a small dry saucepan, on low heat, add 1/4 cup organic cream of buckwheat and lightly toast for 45 seconds to 1 minute (keep it moving to avoid burning). Then add 1 and 1/3 cup of liquid, half water and half organic buttermilk which is healthiest and tastiest. The brand I prefer is Bob's Red Mill Organic Buckwheat (the texture is the best). 2. Add 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt and stir in. 3. Add one tablespoon of organic extra virgin olive oil and just under one tablespoon of organic Maple syrup. Mix or stir in well. 4. Add 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of organic turmeric and 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of organic ginger, fresh grated or dry ground. Mix well until the color changes to a nice smooth orange cream. 5. Add 1/2 teaspoon organic Ceylon cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon of organic cacao powder. Mix well. The color will slightly darken. This will be at the 5-6 minutes of cooking time. 6. At this point, add 1 teaspoon of Organic HTB (Himalayan Tardy Buckwheat) Powder. This is a super food. I buy mine from "Big Bold Health". 7. Next add 1 lightly mounded tablespoon of organic ground flax seed and stir in well. This will cause the buckwheat to thicken more. As long as you’re still on low heat, the buckwheat will be moist enough. There should not be the need to add any liquid. At this point you will be in 8 minutes of cooking time. (At this point, go to step 10 (recipe for eggs), this is important to start now before moving to step 8) 8. Next, to your buckwheat, add about two handfuls of (hand crushed) organic walnut halves and mix in. 9. Lastly add 1/3 cup of fresh or frozen organic blueberries and stir in. This will bring up the cooking time to 11 minutes and turn the burner to the lowest setting and place a lid on the saucepan. Now, to finish, go to step 12. ----- (For the protein part of this recipe, other than the walnuts, when you are about 8 minutes in for the cream of buckwheat, before step 8, which is adding walnuts and the blueberries, move to step 10) 10. In a very small skillet, on medium to low heat, start one-part organic butter and one-part organic extra virgin olive oil to lightly cover the pan bottom. (olive oil should not heat up too much) 11. Once the butter is melted and mixed with the olive oil, cook the 2 organic eggs set out from before and add a pinch of sea salt and organic black pepper on top. Lightly fry for about 3 minutes on one side (be careful not to overcook, stay on medium low heat). Now go back to step 8. 12. Then, after the 3 minutes, in which you did step 8 and 9, flip the eggs while the yolks are still runny (be careful not to break the yolks). Turn the burner off for both and let the eggs sit for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Now your food is ready to eat. Spoon out your cream of buckwheat in a nice size bowl and then place your two over easy eggs on top. It is best to eat with a spoon. Enjoy all your efforts. Edited Additional note: I recommend setting out your measuring utensils and ingredients before you start. Don’t worry if you can’t get your timing correct the first time. What helps for me is keeping the Buckwheat on extremely low heat and not boiling while cooking. This will allow it to thicken but not overcook too quickly. Good luck Second additional note: I may have been a little too strict on the time. I think this recipe may need a couple more minutes so that you are not rushed putting everything together. I tried the recipe myself, as I had written it, and I come to find out that I was a little too rushed. I do apologize for this. I think a couple more minutes per step is best. Hope this helps.
Thank you for the upload, that’s a lot of effort put into the information. I for one will be trying as I need a new breakfast regime. Sounds like a winner to me. Thank you once again. From Brisbane Aus.😊
To everyone who is trying this recipe, since I uploaded it, I hope you found it enjoyable. I did add an additional note for timing because I, myself, found that my 1 to 2 minutes per step is just a little too restrictive. If you add a couple more minutes to the entire recipe, I believe this will help. I apologize if the recipe felt rushed when making. I hope this helps. And please feel free to make this recipe your own, by finding or adjusting to your own timing. Have a great day!

Smoothie suggestion using flaxseeds 1. Soak 1 tbsp of chia seeds overnight or for at least an hour in 200ml water. 2. In a blender add 300ml water/milk/both to your preference, 1/3 cup organic oats, 2 tbsp of ground flaxseeds, 2 tbsp pumpkin seeds, 3 deseeded dates, and blend. 3. Add soaked chia seeds and stir with spoon. 4. Pour into glass and enjoy Instead of dates you can change it up by adding any fruit for sweetness. Also add yogurt or kifir for gut health Instead of milk.
Love all the health and nutritional info you give us, dear Doc Mandell. One comment about flax seeds: It is my understanding that it is advisable to never buy pre-ground flax seeds, as the oil can go rancid quickly. Better to buy them whole, and grind them (yes, they must be ground!) as needed. This is what I always do… 😌😉

GOD bless you
Love all the health and nutritional info you give us, dear Doc Mandell. One comment about flax seeds: It is my understanding that it is advisable to never buy pre-ground flax seeds, as the oil can go rancid quickly. Better to buy them whole, and grind them (yes, they must be ground!) as needed. This is what I always do… 😌😉
