I’m not even close to having a baby but this is so informative for when I do decide to have a baby! Can you talk more about the home birthing experience? Like the steps you took to find your midwife etc.
This video has been so helpful and i’m so thankful that you posted this because i really hope people open their minds to see how much cloth diapers can actually help the environment a lot for future generations. Cloth diapers will be the only diapers i’ll consider using for my future children.
Can’t tell you how much we needed this, we’re wanting to do cloth diapers for our 2nd baby and you’ve really answered any questions I had! Can’t wait to do this! Thank you!!
Hi!!!! Taylor you wore so many beautiful yet simple outfits for your photo shoots when you were pregnant. I am pregnant now and your pictures inspire me so much, ALL OF THEM. I was wondering if you could make a video where you go through your pregnancy photo shoots and talk about confidence while you’re pregnant and how you were feeling at the time, plus list the outfits and where you got them from. I think so many of us would be interested in that, whether we’re pregnant or not. ❤️❤️🙏🏽
We’re using a cloth diaper service also. I’m due in 2 weeks. this was such a cool video. made me want to try wipes next. But I’ll have to go through all the wipes I got at my baby shower first 😥
1. Do you get any poop explosions with Malakai and if so how do you deal with them with a cloth diaper? 2. What are some of your tips for low income full time working moms who want to use cloth diapers but don’t necessarily have the time to wash as often or the money for a service?
1. The cloth diaper usually catches everything, I think i've only had one blowout in the beginning and I think its because I didn't put the diaper on properly 2. Some people wash at laundromat, hand wash them their self, or find another cloth diapering mom in their area that can just add your diapers to their load. I know its not for everyone so if you aren't able to that is completely fine!
I never had an explosion with cloth and my baby used to go ALOTTTT as far as working, if you have at least 2 days a week where you can wash I would say you would be good to go! Just make sure you have enough diapers to get you through those days before wash days (I had about 20 diapers in my stash and I was able to get through 3 days before I had to wash) so if you had like maybe one day during the week and then maybe a weekend day, also the wash cycle takes a while if you’re doing it at home maybe start them in the morning and then either dry them or hang to dry at lunch?? Or after work? Haha sorry I didn’t mean to highjack the comment!
If you don’t have a washer or dryer or are not allowed them where u live, invest in a portable washer they are like 100 on amazon. It makes life easier to was them at home dry them by hanging.
You can also get second hand cloth diapers. lots and lots of mamas are looking to sell their diapers for a portion of the price of brand new ones. Facebook has tons of groups with lots of information!
Pretty awesome how cloth diaper is coming back! I have a 5 month old baby girl and when we told our family we were gonna cloth diaper everyone would say “yeah. Good luck with that. You won’t last that long, you’ll go back to disposables” etc etc. Even new people we tell they all say “omg nooo. I could never. So gross!” It’s honestly the most easiest thing ever! And better for baby, environment and our money! Thanks for making this video! So amazing to see promoting cloth diapering and breastfeeding!
We do cloth diapering; however, I'm flexible, and I use disposable diapers as needed (especially when traveling). To wash them here, I do a pre-wash with oxi clean then just a normal wash cycle. Easy!
Cianna Coleman I just recently heard about them so I’ll have to look into them! Currently, we’re full time disposable diapers bc our washing machine has been broken for 3 weeks, and the warranty company is being...difficult. 😑
$500 is high but that’s if you use the most expensive brands and types like all in ones. You can get away with $100 if using covers and prefolds which is the most cost effective or if you buy used!
Thank you SO SO much for this video! My first baby is coming in June and my husband & I are 100% about cloth diapering, but need as much info as possible before our little one arrives!
I would join a Facebook group. Cloth diapers for beginners group is good. Here are a couple great brands. Happy beehinds, noras nursery, mama koala and alvas are great they are pocket diapers so you stuff an insert inside. As far as insert you can do prefolds, bamboo/charcoal, hemp, microfiber (microfiber should never touch babies skin it can dry out babies skin). I like to use a four sack towel they sell them at Walmart and are super cheap I use one of those and add in a hemp insert in the middle so baby doesn’t leak. If you buy used diapers you will need to strip them then sanitize. Again I would get on a fb group to help you out. Congrats on your baby!
I love this. i was looking up cloth diapering yesterday. about to have my second baby in april, currently have a 2 year old and i think it would be so convenient plus better for the environment. Thanks so much for this video. im excited you have a channel!
I’m not having a baby anytime soon but your videos have made me definitely want to use cloth in the future! So much better for the environment and for the babies❤️
always heard about cloth diapers but they sounded so inconvenient. after this video tho, I’m suddenly a cloth diaper stan and hopefully can use them when my mommy time comes
@Andrea Hernandez Yes, most people when they hear/think of Cloth Diapers, they think of a cloth that you wrap around the baby and safety pin around the waist. Cloth Diapers have come a long way since then, and evolved!
This was actually a really cool video. I’ve always wondered about this and I feel like she answered the questions really well. It made cloth diapering seem less intimidating than I thought it would be!
My mom told me she didn't think I'd last initially but she was okay with it. They're much more modern than during her time. Stick withi it, I love cloth!
im a 18 year old with no child but still love all of taylor's videos! i watch every second, beginning to end lol, very educational tbh:) love love them!
I love that they talked about the eco friendly/ biodegradable stuff from different diapers and how they don’t accept them bc of the actual baby poop and stuff. I didn’t know that , Love this video!! ✨ Keep IT up Love!
Cool video! Luludew Cloth Diaper Service looks awesome. I love that they have so many styles of cloth diapers available. Wish there was a branch in Honolulu. Yay for mentioning elimination communication! We practice EC along with cloth diapering. 💜 Heidi
Hey have you thought about using cloth pads or do you already know about them and use them? Can you do a video about them if you use them? And if you don’t use them how do you feel about them?
Thank you so much for this video !! It’s so interesting and helpful. Some girls/womens out here searching for this type of video !! I ABSOLUTE LOVE THIS TYPE OF CONTENT YAAAAS. Lots of love for u and your beautiful baby boy (and Nash) ❤️
She did not mention how much you spend on normal diapers could anyone develop on that? thank you so much for this video, next I’d love to see tummy time ideas :)
Suely Figueiredo when I did the math we would be spending ALOOOTTTT a year on disposable, I can’t remember the exact number but it was enough that my husband finally got on board with doing cloth, for my entire cloth stash plus accessories I think I spend like 250 dollars and we were set!
www.squawkfox.com/cloth-diapers/ Here’s a blog post that goes a bit in depth with compared costs. Keep in mind that if a family has multiple children and chooses to cloth diaper all of their children the cost difference will be much larger in the long run than what’s shown here bc you can continue to use the cloth diapers you already have and the only cost you’ll be concerned with is laundry costs.
@Suely Figueiredo It largely depends a lot on when the child ends up Potty Training. You can easily spend around $1,500 for the 1st 2 years (plus Cost of Disposable Wipes, roughly around $300) on Disposable Diapers. If they are still not Potty Trained by 2 years, the cost rises even higher than that (and becomes much harder to Potty Train). Cost can easily go up to $2,000+ for 2 1/2 years (average Potty Training completion age), and that is per each child. The Savings Value of Cloth Diapers can be steep for the initial cost (need to buy a lot of things all at once), but when you take into account that they can be re-used for a 2nd child, the amount of Money Saved really comes into play. Standard Minimum of Cloth Diapers to start with is recommended about 24 (that allows for at least 12 Diaper Changes per Day). Even if you bought high end, and paid $20/Diaper, that would be $480 for Diapers that could last you all the way until Potty Training. Price gets reduced drastically if you sew your own, or buy 2nd-hand from parents selling their Cloth Diapers that they no longer need. Cloth Wipes, Can vary in price. I can find a set of 36 for about $12, so about $12-$24 should be plenty. A Wet/Dry Bag (for changing while not at Home) can cost around $5-$20 depending on the size. Would also buy a Wet Bag to use as a Diaper Pail Liner (about $10). Total for all (Brand New) items would be about $534. Cheaper if you sew your own, or buy pre-owned.
I’m sure the woman didn’t answer the question because their services cost more than disposable diapering. The above commenters seem to be accurate though. It does tend to be about $1500+ to diaper one child. Cloth diapers can be bought as cheap as $100-250 for all you need for multiple children if you’re washing them yourself, which is actually really easy and not inconvenient if laundry isn’t your least favorite thing in the world.
How many diapers a day do you go through? I know you say 20 diapers is enough for your set of diapers but don’t babies go through like 10 diapers a day? I’m a ftm due in June and we really are wanting to cloth diaper and wanting to get all of the info!
Most say 24-36 diapers but it's an estimate based on how many you personally need and how often you will wash them. It also depends on if you use diaper covers that can be used more than once before washing. No one can tell you for sure unfortunately.
I used all three types: aios, covers and pockets. I personally prefer aios for my daughter and use covers for my son as those fit larger babies which he is. The cheapest is covers with flats, I personally used flour sack towels and they work great, prefolds are good too. I recommend using natural fibers, easier to clean and better for vent and the environment. I love cotton and hemp.
I would love to do cloth diapers when I have babies because of the waste so hopefully that will be a great option for my family. Thanks for this video Taylor!
Abigail Purcell I would make the switch for sure. My 4th baby is 9 months and I wish I did cloth for the others we just switched over recently and I’m loving it and it saves so much money and the diapers are so cute!
Both get washed eventually, the only system that can be reused is covers, you can reuse up to 3 times usually after you wipe it down after pee only changes. All on ones have absorbency sewn in.
When I was a childcare worker I had a baby that used cloth diapers. The parents expressed how tiring it was to prewash/wash the diapers. The baby also had many more blowouts than a baby that was wearing a regular diaper.
They probably weren't putting the diaper on correctly. Cloth diapers actually reduce blowouts to almost none. I've had way more blowouts in sposies than cloth. The fit is extremely important when cloth diapering :)
@Summer Lopez It's not always the cloth diapers fault. Some babies just poop more than others. I had a friend, her son would have a blowout almost every other day because he just pooped so much out at once. Every baby is different. For babies that are more prone to blowouts, there are designs out there that offer a "gusset", which helps to extend the space that the diaper can hold for poop, to prevent a blowout from happening.
Your are gorgeous and lovely , I enjoy your content and Malachi's papa too , and you are such a great mama , so I don't see why I hadn't sub'd yet !! Ignore my lateness 💛💓😉
I love your channel so much! Really making me consider cloth diapering. I’ll have to do research on we’re I can get good cloth diapers in the state I’m in and see if they offer a service!
jaiden mckown I would get on a breastfeeding group they are very helpful! I’m nursing my 4th baby and I can say this hydrate and have plenty of calories so you can make enough. Baby only needs drops Of colostrum the first few days their stomach is the size of a cherry. If your having trouble latching check for tongue and lip ties. And nurse nurse nurse is the best thing you can do for your supply. Baby can sometimes nurse every 30 min that does not mean you have a low supply it’s just cluster feeding and part of it. Congrats and goodluck
Do you plan to have mor3 kids? If so what age gap would you have bewteen if child? Im currently struggling with this as i have a 4 month old and sometimes think of having more, but also feel like i could never love another.

same! I use disposable when traveling!

Lol people rarely comment on Malakai's resemblance to Taylor so your comment is a rare gem! I agree, he does look like her just with Nash's colors.

This video made me start thinking about cloth diapering my own baby boy. I just ordered some to try it out and see if it works for us!
Make sure you get some of the preforms you will love them for dusting and cleaning with

me watching your videos while i have no baby whatsoever 🥳🥳🥳
Ayo, cloth diaper checkkkkkk
Is it the entire diaper being washed or just the absorbency? Or for the all-in-ones is the absorbency attached?
Both get washed eventually, the only system that can be reused is covers, you can reuse up to 3 times usually after you wipe it down after pee only changes. All on ones have absorbency sewn in.
I used cloth nappies on both my babies xx
malakai going in on your hand at 14:25😂😂
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS Taylor 🤟🏽🤟🏽
I think it would be cool if you did a HOMEBIRTH 101 video + just out of curiosity, are you still planning on becoming a doula? - lots of love x
You should do a curly hair tutorial 😍😍

Really making me consider cloth diapering. I’ll have to do research on we’re I can get good cloth diapers in the state I’m in and see if they offer a service!
Kaitlyn Salas happy beehinds, noras nursery, mama koala, and alvas are good brands for diapers
Brittany Jones thank you so much!
Of course I would also get on some fb groups. I like cloth diapers for beginners group you will learn everything on there
Will they change the detergent or cleaner if your baby develops allergies or has sensitive skin?
I don't wanna be dude but I feel like obviously they would if that happens?
Thanks for the info 🤱🏽
So an insert is necessary for cloth diapers or no?
wait wait wait hold up.... who are these psychopaths that dislike this video
Literally tommy pickles, I’m in love
Hey love could you do a video on breastfeeding ? I’m currently pregnant and planning on breastfeeding 💙
jaiden mckown I would get on a breastfeeding group they are very helpful! I’m nursing my 4th baby and I can say this hydrate and have plenty of calories so you can make enough. Baby only needs drops
Of colostrum the first few days their stomach is the size of a cherry. If your having trouble latching check for tongue and lip ties. And nurse nurse nurse is the best thing you can do for your supply. Baby can sometimes nurse every 30 min that does not mean you have a low supply it’s just cluster feeding and part of it. Congrats and goodluck
Ooo I've always wanted to get into cloth diapering
