Why LEGO Dreamzzz is Failing...

- In this video, I talk about the current state of LEGO Dreamzzz, by looking at the sets, minifigures and TV show, to determine what is causing this theme to be severly overlooked by the LEGO community. With so many amazing new prints, moulds and minifigures, you would think this theme would appeal to the masses, however it seems to be doing the opposite. If you did enjoy the video please consider subscribing and thank you so much for 10K!
so a bunch of season 3 sets got leaked. i can't post for copyright ofc but they shouldn't be too hard to find online. That Mateo car colour scheme looks so cool!
I actually work in a Lego store in my country and at least 5 sets are on discount almost every month
TLG (The Lego Group) commonly plans out these themes of theirs for three years/seasons ahead. In actuality, it had been exactly the same with Ninjago back in the day; it got even temporarily *cancelled (or rather 'not renewed') for a year before someone at TLG did the math and the theme then returned after the hiatus for a fourth season and is, of course, with us to this very day.
* - Its replacement was actually the Legends of Chima.
Personally I think the theme’s really resonating with the aimed for younger demographic. I’ve talked with a surprising amount of kids at my job who have actually watched and loved the show, so I’m gonna hold out hope because I also enjoy this theme a lot!
That’s not true, I always see it on clearance and I’ve heard many people hating on the actual show
The prices of the bigger sets detered me (The small sets were quite decent tho). Its not the fact they're pricey, but it needed good value to get me into it
GREAT LEGO MAN CAM LEGO DREAMZZZ ARE FAILING.
I think where Dreamzzz went wrong was by releasing such a big first wave with a ton of different characters. If they had started off with a smaller wave in April or May focusing on just Mateo, Izzie, and the Night Hunter, and then released a bigger August wave with sets for Cooper, Zoey, Mr. Oz, etc., and bringing forth the Nightmare King as the theme's big bad, it probably would've been much less overwhelming. Honestly it's a problem most Big Bang Themes had: Chima introduced 6 Tribes at once, Nexo Knights introduced 5 initiates at once, Ultra Agents had a lot of generic-feeling heroes... you get my point.
Personally I love LEGO Dreamzzz. It came out right as I was exiting my LEGO Dark Age, and it's gotta be my favorite original theme since Chima. I'm hoping against hope that LEGO will keep Dreamzzz around for a while longer to explore more new ideas and come up with a memorable climax that will make fans adore it for years to come.
Unfortunately, I can't ignore the writing on the wall - between the mediocre show and dropping sales numbers. If Dreamzzz does become the next checkmark on Ninjago's hitlist next year, I just hope it goes out with a bang.
LEGO Dreamzzz had a niche until LEGO made the Fortnite sets this year. I think fans of quirky, colorful builds will shift to the IP they know rather than the one that’s unfamiliar.
Another franchise killed by Fortnite😔😔😢😢
@@burner555 which other ones has fortnite killed?
I think this theme got a shot at being big but i feel like they should make less expensive big sets cuz large amount of parents will not gonna buy them for their 7-10 year old children
EXCELLENT LEGO MAN CAM LEGO DREAMZZZ WORK.
Im considering getting the t-rex or big z-blob mech so I could 'have a taster' of the theme whilst having builds based of things I like (JP, ninjago etc)
the story seems very uninteresting to me but the sets are really amazing.
I wish it would continue.
I really hope Dreamzzz can release those canceled Vidiyo Dino heads in a small set.
LOVE U MAN! Thank god you feel better
I work at a Toys R Us in Canada, and unfortunately Dreamzzz really doesn’t sell that well at all. It has a massive section in our store, but nothing moves. I have to dust the boxes cause they don’t even get moved.
Honestly, it is gonna depend on how much LEGO is gonna invest into this theme, and may depend if children are ever gonna still enjoy it.
But let’s face it, out of all the franchises LEGO has, Ninjago is the *behemoth* of them all!
there's no beating ninjago.the writers of the show went above and beyond.zane's sacrifice against overlord alone probably made them more money than some of their failed projects
I hope that Dreamzzz can at least last long enough to have a long story like Chima because I’m still taunted by Mateo x Zoey which they still need to make happen
It kind of feels like weird, bad Gravity Falls
I’d describe it more as Nightmare on Elm Street with no horror. At least Dream Warriors.
Weirdmageddon, but its every set, and some of them are just Mabel's wacky child brain like the bunny on roller skates, you have to admit though that the villain sets are decent
I dont like the TV show, but the sets are amazing, not all but most of them. Chima and Nexo Knights, i loved to watch (i also have all Chima DVDs), and the sets, but i dont have that many
In Turkey, only friends and DreamZZZ sets gets a clearance discount. Other themes doing fine. Will pickup either crow or nightmare ship when i have money for it
Something we all need to know is that the TV show and the sets are very different things. The TV show is in my opinion terrible, at least if you compare it with Ninjago and Monkie Kid, I feel like every episode is boring and nothing really happens. About the sets though, the sets are pretty great because the sets are unique models we don’t really see in any other Lego theme. The sets has some great instruction art and the fact that you can build the set in different ways is also pretty cool. We can also see how the Lego group is going all in with this theme, we are getting new Dreamzzz seasons faster than Ninjago seasons and we get dual molding and side printing on most Dreamzzz minifigures as well. I do not know where Lego is going with their Lego Dreamzzz theme but it will probably fall soon because Ninjago is just better. Thanks for reading sorry that I made it this long but I had to speak.😅
I think this theme is cool, they just need to do something about the larger sets.
1:11 i have never seen or heard of this set im finnish and we have in our stores pretty big selection of dreamzzz sets and i have never heard and seen this set this is weird that the new theme has already a forgotten set
I think this is an official Lego store exclusive set. 👍
There's a few themes that I think are good that I personally don't have any interest in, except if I can use the set, prints, or pieces for other things. Like Harry Potter, I bought 2 Aragog sets for a potential dragon age moc. The problem I have with this theme is that while it's fun and creative, it's almost too whimsical for me to get any use out of.
Personally, I like Dreamzzz. It's different.
Exactly I especially like how relatable the characters are
If they had some cheaper villain sets, I'd definitely try and get them. As it is, the location builds are definitely going to become the basis for mocs
If it does fail, I hope it doesn't take another good colour with it like Nexo Knights and Hidden Side before it.
Most places are selling the nightmare creatures set for less so I may well buy it.
i honestly hope that Dreamzzz lasts as an original lego theme, not as a show, but i still hope it lasts, it reminds me of some older themes, and makes me miss these sets that will usually have 2 in 1 type sets and builds, and honestly the sets are pretty cool/cute and have really unique sets and introduce new molds (such as the puffy vest piece) and pieces in different colors which is great for customization for minifigs and other builds
I personally love the Lego dreamzzz sets, and so does my 4 year old. I think it’s very reminiscent of what Lego is truly about, building whatever your imagination can dream up. (No pun intended)
Gosh where do you get those prices, here in germany you can be happy if you get 25% off
I feel like 1 year is a good guess. The current state of Dreamzzz kind of reminds me of Power Miners before the last wave of that theme. RIP Power Miners.
Season 1 was god awful, but season 2 somehow hit it out of the park.
I quite like the theme.
The first wave of sets was great (there are only 2 or so sets that I didn't like and got only for completion). The second smaller wave was mostly finishing up the season 1 builds.
The 3rd wave was the best part of the Season 2, and those are all great sets. My favorite set here is Castle nocturnia. The big Zblob mech is a bit too big to be honest - could have been slightly smaller.
I hope this theme runs at least 3 years and gets something fancy.
I like The Series and the Sets are cool I don't think it's failing but maybe we'll get more Crossover Specials like we got with Ninjago but I don't know if it's confirmed if Season 3 is the last season tho? I guess we'll just have to wait and see
I gotta say, I really hope not. I only learned about Dreamzzz a few months ago. And I gotta say, when I started seeing sets on the shelves, I was _very impressed._ The creativity that goes into the builds really is something to be admired. It's like when we were kids and we would mix all our sets together to make something unique and creative; except in this case, the bricks are all color-themed and uniform.
To me, Dreamzzz lives up to the name in that, the theme is based on Dreams - and in Dreams anything can happen; so as long as the sets keep being creative, they can pretty much do anything.
Unfortunately, it is too expensive. What made Ninjago thrive were its lower prices compared to other products. (At least a few years ago.)
Additionally, it's missing more sets that are less theme specific and could blend in with other playtables/displays.
i've seen some sets in legoland.they looked pretty cool, because the colours were a lot more vibrant then in previous series, but i decided to see what the show's about first
Season 2 was a vast improvement for the series to me, although
[SPOILERS]
The video game theme for the next season/wave is a bit weird for me.
The evil version of Izzy and Mayo reminds of the evil version of the ninja form ninjago.
here it depends on the store. Some toystores have most of the sets sold out
I think about the only show not on lego's youtube channel is Edward and Friends which is the Fabuland show from the nineties.
Didn't have time? You can binge season 1 and 2 on 2x speed in like a day or two. Just admit that you didn't want to watch it, which is fine, no one's forcing you.
firstly I'm not gonna watch something on 2x speed lol I think that would drive me crazy. Therefore it would take me about 13-14 hours to watch the whole show, which is a significant amount of time for a full time student, whilst also trying to make decent videos. And from watching the first episode it didn't hook me enough to make me want to justify keeping watching.
so i love the figures and the new sword piece but imo the sets are kinda meh exept for the shark ship and the castle. Where i am in france, the sets are doing horribly, so horribly that a few stores took the sets of the shelves to replace with ninjago, and if you want a dreamzzz set, an employee has to go in the back to get it.
Lego Dreamzzz is mostly full price in Canada. Sometimes there's sales but its seasonal not clearance. It isnt featured as prominently as Ninjago or IP themes like marvel or star wars
I am a fan of Mixels, and this theme reminds me of it in some way, but I'm not interested in it as much as I was with Mixels.
1 more year? (Don’t tell bro that S4 is already in development 🤫)
This guy is giving dreamzzz a bad name
I agree what you said Liam Anglade I love dreams both the sets and the Tv show heck I binge watch all of season 2 and it’s a step up from Season one and I’m looking forward to season 3 with the best marketing this set could be big like ninjago and Monki Kid and more.
I really like the sets! I'm just saying I don't think it's going to survive...
How come I just heard of this Lego dreamzzz series 😮
Im from spain and finding any dreamz sets on the shelves is imposible and if you try to find them online they are discounted or without stock
YOU ARE THE GOAT
I only bought sandman castle and the never witch animals sets cuz i like her design and detailed prints
but if she doesn't return in season 3 very unlikely i buy more sets
they need to lower price on bigger sets as tv show is alright to watch but again bigger sets need price drop otherwise dont see them lasting long as i got bigger raven for £90 which is insane rrp i feel for what you get (even if its one of better set designs).
Yk Nexo Knights last wave was digitallized, are we gonna see history repeat itself
I like the colors.
you see, people like me part of the problem is I keep trying to remember to watch it but then I just end up watching Ninjago insted
I would say Chima and Nexo Knights are good themes that should have continued and could have continued alongside Ninjago but Dreamzzz I just never liked it and I do not like the show either (I am not the target demographic of this show or theme)
Hey! I work in one of the biggest toy-stores in Greece. Dreamzzz set js failing really hard.
We have to restock our Lego pretty much every week or bi-weekly. In the last 8 restocks, we had 0 Dreamzzz set.
Also, based on our sales this Saturday, we sold approx. 70 Lego sets. 0 Dreamzzz.
Ninjago is best dream probably 1 year left
I really wanna see half-spider figure next season
Season 3 sets got leaked
Where can I watch it? I didn't even know it had a show.
Both seasons are available both on Lego’s RUclips channel (just like Ninjago eps) and Netflix
@@angelmusic6147 Thank you!
I mean the theme's cool and all but it's just too kiddy sometimes and sure ninjago started off that way too but like the show the audience grew so ninjago made a few minor changes to make the show more likeable for its current viewers.
The thing I hated about the ninjago series was how exept the carecters and I guess the cars nothing is lego looking at all the water looks like later the pizza looks like pizza it's like if in the lego movie at the beginning when Emmitt is taking a shower they do the lazy rout and make it water and not blue studs to represent water. And dreams looks alot like ninjago with is bot a good sighn.
why do all the new Lego themes have to have a GAMER!!! wave?
for me this theme haveing a really good set up with dreams, but feels limited with what we got and the side builds you can make are also really lacking with what you can make
havent watched the show but its its anything like there movies and other show, i expect it to be pritty childish and nothing for us adults to watch
Bro what do you mean when say meshmash ,i hope it's what I think
Mish-mash, just like it seems like lots of things thrown together without any real reasoning.
every lego original theme that isn’t a basic build theme like friends city creator or classic or it’s only long running theme that isn’t one of those like ninjago will end up failing. i’ve seen themes like dreamzzz, chima, nexo knights and hidden side just warm up shelves
My friend has the same name as that one character with slim on his face
The sets cost sooo much and this is a kids show
Another Ninjago victim I fear
Lego dreamzzz is a good show but the prices arent
jealious you got tower for 30 instead of 90 in uk it would never got that cheap maybe 50% if lucky.
I like them but probably wouldn't have bought them at full price. It feels almost like cheating to get them at almost half off but at least they are selling that way?
chat does bro know ?
Hey i mean its got another season otw so it should be doing good
Nexo knight as a show sucks and if you dont like the show it dosent appeal to you.
Something dreamzzz does but it also a good show.
Lego
Chima 8/10 ⭐
Nexo knight 6/10⭐
Hidden side 5/10⭐
Ninjago 9/10⭐ , dragon rising 7/10⭐
Monkie kid 8/10⭐
Dreamzzz 6/10⭐
Reminder everyone, its not because you dont like a theme than its doomed to fail, its just that its not for you.
Childs in my town loves the Mario sets, and yet we know what adults fans thinks of them...
hey here in poland the sets are also mainly on clearence ;)
Same in finland they are mostly in clearance:)
Shelf warmers in uk. Mainly because kids are too "cool" dor it, and rheyd ratjed get sets drom a well known ip, like fortnite, as they are already far familiar with it
If it’s failing badly, then let’s just say sorry, discontinue it, and replace it.
Hmm, fan demand for Bionicle is still going. Maybe that should be the replacement!
3:00 *Megalovania*
Bad times
I think you are right but for the wrong reasons. Firstly I wouldn't read too much into Australian lego prices. Lego has a pretty hefty markup so retails are free to mark down when it suits, and all the Australian department stores are basically trying to out do each other with pre xmas toy specials, especially in the under $100 sets aimed at kids. At the moment animal crossing, sonic and the cheaper city and friends sets are on pretty deep discount in department stores. Also Lego do heaps of market research and a trend they worked out back in the 90's is kids connect with a new theme and take it on board as their own, if they are there from the beginning, and even if they don't own every set, they are aware of them all and have seen them all on the shelf or in catalogues. The average "generation" of lego kids seems to be about 3 to 4 years. If you think back to all the different themes that were humans in some sort of space suit fighting some sort of alien for crystals, then 3 waves later instead of astronauts they were divers fighting some sort of alien for crystals, 3 waves later they were miners fighting for crystals then were back to astronauts. Anyway my point is Dreamzz may end soon but it is likely that was the plan all along and its replacement has been developed already.
Doomed like doomsdays 🤪
Wdym
How is Ninjago doing? I couldn’t bear to watch that show fail and die after my childhood
It has literally outlived every other new original lego theme excluding Monkie Kid (for now)
