Great Video... I really enjoyed it. I own one and it may be the most underappreciated polymer gun on the market today. Got mine on sale for $450 OTD with a tac light. 4-2024 I just bought the P-09 Suppressor Ready and I love it. Bullseye accurate from the first shot Stock out of the box. Best pistol I've owned in 59 years of shooting. And a bargain at 499.oo, 2 - 21rd. Magazines. I think the only change I'll make is a green fiber optic front sight. What a bullseye bargain👍👍
Patrick, As always, love your "trial by fire" reviews. Wish I could shoot these right out of the box guns in the superior manner you do! I bow to the Master! Now I want this gun!
Just bought the P09, as a comparison to your 6’+ frame Im 5’8” and with small back it fits me perfect. Feels much better in hand than others Ive handled. Enjoyed your review and subbed!
This morning I found one of these in a local gun shop. Now I have to wait for it to be released from gun purgatory. Looking forward to shooting it. Haven't owned an SA/DA for many years, but it's been on my wish list and soon it shall be mine! Thanks again for the instructional and interesting review.

Late to the party here I was a glock shooter forever (still have a g21 with wilson barrel) my buddy had me shoot his p07, and it was so easy to shoot well, I got to looking more and the p09 really spoke to me. It is ridiculous how well it shoots so I bought another and they are my edc go everywhere with me guns. They also iwb carry very well with a forward cant, very comfortable love this gun, and this summer I think a p07 may come home with me
Great video. I have the same gun, albeit the smaller P-07 version. Great pistol... funny thing is that, at the range all the guys shooting their glocks and berettas always ask me about the CZ. Cheers from Costa Rica !
Just purchased the P-09 about 2 days ago....waiting for it to be delivered to my local shop for pickup. I can not wait to get this thing to the range!!!!! Great review, Sir!! Thank you :)
I just want to say thanks a lot. I have been wanting to get into competition and I have been looking for a pistol that would fit my needs and this video sold me.. So again thank you immensely.

Cool video, glad to read you at least lubed it. I've read magazine articles where they brag about not cleaning the gun before testing. I never understood what exactly that proves? My M&P came with light oil, my CZ came with a more heavy protective grease.
The p09 is on my short list of next full size purchase chiefly due to capacity. The price is simply an added bonus considering how this pistol appears to handle. Ty for your review.
He twice called it “a nice pistol” and it is a very nice pistol. I bought a PO9 on a whim when they first came out and throughly enjoyed it. I put a few thousand rounds thru it and decided I wanted a steel frame CZ so I traded it for an SPO1. Can’t say the SPO1 is a “better” gun just different. Thinking now I should have bought the smaller PO7 for a carry pistol.
Patrick... Very nice video. It's people rather Professionals like you who give novices like me more confidence in our gun which fortunately in my case is a CZ P-09 and bought around Nov. 2014.... Good gun boss as you said... A good gun. Regards, Ahmed Zafar - Pakistan

+Patrick E. Kelley well I know its going reliable I also have a cz 75 sp 01 that I bought used I put about 4000 rounds on before changing the parts to shoot +P
Great video and review! Outstanding shooting with a stock gun! It takes a little bit to get used to the transition from DA to SA. I compete with an SP01, the trigger was horrible out of the box. I never even shot it till I did a trigger job. How was the trigger on the P09?
Thank you very much SmithShooter9mm! One of the underlying reasons behind shooting these videos is that so many new guys feel they must have a gunsmith work them over before they can be used in a match. While I absolutely agree a well tuned pistol is easier to shoot than one that is not, it is a good idea to start with one that is pretty good "out of the box".
Patrick E. Kelley Makes sense sir. Strong fundamentals makes a good shooter. The gun doesn't make the shooter, it just makes his or her job a little bit easier. Thanks for the videos and all the time you put into making them.
I buy the guns to review out of my pocket, so with so many to choose from I have to be careful otherwise I'd be broke! The Taurus guns are down the list a bit.
I have slightly larger than average hands (XL gloves), and I have to say that when I got this... I didn't care for the grip. They say that it's the same as the CZ-75 (which I've shot), but it's not. It is larger fore/aft from the beaver tail to the trigger guard under-cut. It's a great gun, but not as comfortable as a lot of people say it is. This is actually my wife's gun and she really doesn't like this compared to the 75. I have a PSA Rock 5.7 and those are some long rounds compared to 9mm. With this said... that grip is more comfortable and smaller fore/aft than this is. Very odd. Also... this has 3 back-straps to choose from. I have the small installed and to be honest... I've not seen one reviewer say they had anything larger than the small installed. This in itself should have been an indicator to CZ that the grip module is too long fore/aft. A revision is required IMHO.
Pat, my daughter is a lefty, so I'm going to subscribe just because you are left hand dominant. Seriously, this is my first visit to your channel, and I am impressed with your gentlemanly "Irish" approach. I look forward to looking at all of your offerings. Merry Christmas, and have a Happy New Year, 2016!
Thank you for noticing my Irish nature! It really is all about having fun. Yes, as a competitor I like to win but I'd rather perform well no matter my placement. If you keep watching you'll see that I shoot handguns left and long guns right. Great to hear your daughter is involved in the shooting sports. My best to you. Patrick
Just found your channel. Awesome! I live in Kennewick so it's cool to see someone local. I just ordered the "urban grey" P-09 with suppressor height sights. Should be here any day! Subscribed and liked.
Thanks for this awesome review😁 picked up my P09 suppressor ready 9 months ago, and what should I say? Slow and precise shots are no problem, but I am awfully slow when it comes to quick draw and split times😂 guess I have to intensifie my training.
Thank you Ronald! We are luck to have so many affordable guns that just work right out of the box. Back when I first started to compete in IPSC it was an accomplishment just have a pistol run for a whole match!
I'm just shocked to find a local. Using the search bar for Yakima and shooting found very little but just randomly in my feed you pop up with one of my favorite guns. Good deal, eh?
@@PatrickEKelley3gunfun Never have but I've wanted to. I live in Yakima. Back when I had time I didn't have the money. In the process of moving now but I'd definitely come back on that short drive to shoot steel out here. But last two years was working full time and a full time student so just never got the days off I needed to.
The rails of the frame are reinforced with metal to withstand the friction of the slide, is that right? I would appreciate your response, please. I'm thinking of buying a CZ P09. Or maybe a CZ 75 B. Thank you very much.
Nice review. I have both the P-09 and P-07 waiting for me at the FFL( CA 1 in 30). Can't wait to shoot them. I will officially have more CZs than Glocks.
NOT bad shooting for an old keezer. thanks for the review at the end. am thinking about getting one. I already have a xd(m) 9mm, 51/2 so would it be redundancy ?
Mr Kelley I am strongly considering this pistol as my next firearm. Is your opinion of this model still favorable after 4 years? Just thought I would ask. I would greatly appreciate the feedback. Thanks! Enjoyed the video!
I'm also wondering about your holster...I'm a lefty too and I'm guessing that holster was for something else since you went from "box to match" with it and didn't wait 6+ weeks or whatever for a custom job. I have a CZ 85 Combat holstered in a Bladetech but there's no way my monster sized P09 will fit in it. Your draw is pretty quick with that set up, I'm really interested. V
So far all the guns have "fit" a BladeTech G21 holster. BUT!!!! While at Shot Show I spied and will receive a Safariland holster that is adjustable to fit many, many different pistols. Check>>> www.safariland.com/paddle/model-578-gls-pro-fit-holster-57800.html
Great review. As a southpaw myself its great to see how easy you were able to use the P09. What holster are you using? Have subscribed and looking forward to future reviews. Jas
Just watching this video some 3 years later.....wondering if this P09 is the Duty or compact? I have been looking at a P09 at LGS and I believe it is a compact. Great videos as always. Keep them coming. Awesome enjoyment. Thank you.
+Jari Hartman I own the p09. I REALLY wanted the Sp01 because the 75 variants feel so perfect in the hand. I couldn't justify the weight. I still think the 75/sp01 "feels" better but the p09 is easily the most accurate I've shot. I also have a Sig p220 .45 which is an awesome firearm and reminds me of a 75. I do carry the p09 in a Fobus paddle. it's comfortable but can be a little long/bulky. nothing terribly though. all in all I LOVE the p09
Nice Brother! You Are Truly Just A Joy To Watch & Listen Too!.. Thanks For an Oldie, But Goodie For Sure!.. I'm So Glad This Series Has Continued! So May You As Well My Brother! God Bless You, Your Family & Home With Health,Happiness & Success!. Have A Great weekend Mr.Kelley!.
Great shooting my fellow lefty! I'm trying to decide on a starter ipsc gun and I think I've found the one for me now! One question, what's the holster you're using? It's a bit of a hassle finding gear for us with disabilities haha! Thanks.
Patrick I just bought that same gun and love it. I am left handed and struggling to find a good holster. Do you have any recommendations? Love the videos. Thanks
Hey Patrick! So I broke my P09 last week. walked into the range all excited to practice, and it wouldn't strike any ammo whatsoever. I broke it down, and the firing pin sheared through the rolled retainer pin. The firing pin sat flush inside the slide so the hammer wouldn't strike. I guess I dry-practice HARD! anyway just wanted to report my experience with cz. apparently the firing pin retainer is weak across all models. I ordered an upgraded retainer at Cajun gun works. should come in today.
Dry fire is HARD on that pin. If the 2nd pin holds up...the firing pin may take all the "abuse" instead. Now that you know, keep an eye on it and keep dry firing and keep getting better!
Dang I guess I might have to order a better firing pin too to keep on hand. the firing pin is $25, and the Retainer is $5. not so bad. I still love the P09. Thanks for the advice and helping out your fans! You da best!
+Patrick E. Kelley You're a great shot and good sport. You burned down those targets down on a gun you're not even used to. Plus if you missed you didn't blame the gun like so many do. I'm a CZ guy. Thanks for the great demo.
I've used my P-09 for IPSC since I got it, and it is simply THE best pistol I've ever fired. I absolutely love it.
It is an amazing pistol for the money.
You still lovin it? I may pick one up really, really soon.

We want to see more of this pistol! Have you installed a CGW trigger yet?
Not yet.
Excellent review and demonstration of shooting. Thanks
+luiscards You are most welcome!
I really enjoy watching your videos such a great concept for a youtube gun channel. Look forward to more videos in the future, keep it up.
Thank you! It is what I do when I ain't working my regular job.
My second time seeing this video. Patrick you are a Great American.
Nice video very informative. Have you thought of doing a review on Taurus TH9 or PT 809? Thanks again.
Patrick
Patrick E. Kelley
Thanks Pat!
Just found your channel. Awesome! I live in Kennewick so it's cool to see someone local. I just ordered the "urban grey" P-09 with suppressor height sights. Should be here any day! Subscribed and liked.
Thank you "local guy"!
I have both po7 and po9 in .40 love them both
You have the long and short of the line covered!
Thanks for this awesome review😁 picked up my P09 suppressor ready 9 months ago, and what should I say? Slow and precise shots are no problem, but I am awfully slow when it comes to quick draw and split times😂 guess I have to intensifie my training.
Great review.... please keep em coming.
Great review style! Looking forward to more.
Got more than 2 dozen reviews up right now, hope you can enjoy those. More coming soon.
Nice video! I have one and love it. Have a CZ SP01 as well and they are imo the best 9mm. Next up is a Shadow II but I doubt I’ll shoot it any better.
But it is fun testing driving!
Good video Patrick
nice video and review. I'm planning to pick one up in a few months since I like my airsoft version of this. Keep up the great videos.
Thank you!
Wow!!! That was cool right out of the box.
Thank you Ronald! We are luck to have so many affordable guns that just work right out of the box. Back when I first started to compete in IPSC it was an accomplishment just have a pistol run for a whole match!
@5:44 that was pretty dang slick, awesome!!!
+sil3ntsp3ct3r Thanks!!!
Nice vid… I have a PO9 and love it….thanks for sharing
I'm just shocked to find a local. Using the search bar for Yakima and shooting found very little but just randomly in my feed you pop up with one of my favorite guns. Good deal, eh?
You shoot steel?
@@PatrickEKelley3gunfun Never have but I've wanted to. I live in Yakima. Back when I had time I didn't have the money. In the process of moving now but I'd definitely come back on that short drive to shoot steel out here. But last two years was working full time and a full time student so just never got the days off I needed to.
The rails of the frame are reinforced with metal to withstand the friction of the slide, is that right?
I would appreciate your response, please. I'm thinking of buying a CZ P09. Or maybe a CZ 75 B.
Thank you very much.
Nice review Patrick. You've earned yourself a new subscriber.
That is excellent news, I'll do my best to keep you!
CZ rocks.
They DO!
Nice review. I have both the P-09 and P-07 waiting for me at the FFL( CA 1 in 30). Can't wait to shoot them. I will officially have more CZs than Glocks.
I am afraid the CZ's might multiply at my house too!
NOT bad shooting for an old keezer. thanks for the review at the end. am thinking about getting one. I already have a xd(m) 9mm, 51/2 so would it be redundancy ?
If you are happy with the XDM you are good to go!
Mr Kelley I am strongly considering this pistol as my next firearm. Is your opinion of this model still favorable after 4 years? Just thought I would ask. I would greatly appreciate the feedback. Thanks! Enjoyed the video!
I want one, but I'm having a hard time finding the OD Green model that comes with the Tritium night sights.
Enjoyed your review. Nice job!
+Sean McLean Thank you kindly.
Great review. As a southpaw myself its great to see how easy you were able to use the P09. What holster are you using?
Have subscribed and looking forward to future reviews.
Jas
+Shooting MOA Thank you for the Sub! More videos on the way.
Great video, especially your attitude. If you can't enjoy yourself and also laugh at yourself why do it? Thanks and I'm now getting a P09.
We think the same way. This shooting thing is fun!
Awesome video, thank you neighbor.
Nice review. Thanks!
Which full size was more enjoyable to shoot?
Would like to see a review on walther,cz,smith and wesson 5 inch.
The Walther PPQM2 video is up. The S&W M&P 9mm Pro later this year.
Just watching this video some 3 years later.....wondering if this P09 is the Duty or compact? I have been looking at a P09 at LGS and I believe it is a compact. Great videos as always. Keep them coming. Awesome enjoyment. Thank you.
PO9 fullsize PO7 compact.
That's right. I was just at the LGS last week. I forgot about that P09. It was the P07 I was looking at. Thank you.
Own a p07 and a p01, both fine pistols
You are correct!
Nice review, thank you👍
Great review, Collegue!
+guerrierodelgiaguaro Thank you sir.
Great review, and also very nice shooting :-) .
Thank you Jari! I hope to "shoot" another video at a match this Saturday!
Patrick E. Kelley Geez.. Can't decide between the P09,P07 or the SP-01. All of them are sweet pistols, so choosing is pretty hard.
Thanks.
Blade Tech and Comp Tac and Center of Mass all make holster for the P09. You will have to call and order but you can get it.
Wicked thanks man! I'm in Canada so I figured I'd have to order anyways
Patrick I just bought that same gun and love it. I am left handed and struggling to find a good holster. Do you have any recommendations? Love the videos. Thanks
Absolutely! Red Hill Tactical! Tell them I sent you for 10% off!
Stick an ear plugs where the hammer strikes. It stays during da and softens the blow.
Fun to watch. Nice vid!
+Daniel Ramos Thank you.
+Patrick E. Kelley You're a great shot and good sport. You burned down those targets down on a gun you're not even used to. Plus if you missed you didn't blame the gun like so many do. I'm a CZ guy. Thanks for the great demo.
+angelocos1 You are very welcome and thank you!
In the slow motion frames the guide rod protruding from the frame of the gun didn't look quite right. Was there an issue you discovered later on?
I will have to look.
Thanks Patrick. Mine doesn't look like that when fired thats why I asked.
It's all good Patrick. After rechecking mine it does the same thing. My mistake, just looked odd.
Great shooting!
Thank you kindly.
What holster are you using with the cz p09 9mm. pistol and where can it be purchased???
Google Carey Concealment
