I'm on the bare metal bike band wagon!! Looks good gentlemen! Love your videos! The tuning detail that Chris goes into is fascinating and Block you are always great! Keep up the good work!
Raw metal with an artificial patina would be sick. Keep the chrome shiny parts for som contrast. Would look so dope. I personally like the weather caps. Im sure you could weld the collar to the pipe and grind the welds smooth so it looks a lot cleaner and goes with the flow.
In the process of doing this same thing to my 2011 XL883L Superlow that I already threw the 1250 hooligan kit on a few years ago. Can't wait for the pt.5 to come out! I might need some help figuring out wiring harness routing and oil tank/battery placement.
I built and rode H-D's and other Choppers with and without Speedos or Tachs since the 1970's, and for the novice it is a necessity. However, for a seasoned rider it doesn't matter. You just take it up the point it doesn't pull anymore and you know where the redline is. LOL Good luck with the build. Remember, speed kills ride a Sportster and life forever!!!
Clear coat the raw looks industrial and badass That being said that bike is a rolling advertisement for your shop so it has to look cool and deliberate either way
Got to be painted. That Teal, with some Cream and pinstriped. Reckon those flaps on the exhaust will drive you nuts being so close to your head when riding, but probably worth putting up with for the amount it would get ridden. Good to see a little frustration in Chris, pretty funny, like, your waiting for something to be tossed across the workshop. Good stuff, looking forward to more.
Love a clear coat over the metal. It's a chopper and don't need any gauges as on the I had and rode many years ago was a 59 sportster hardtail with a mag and headlight with taillight. That was it. No nothing but your ear and the feel to tell how fast you was going. But that's a long time ago.
I definitely think the chopper would look cool as a bare metal/rat rod chopper. The way the exhaust looks right now and the chain conversion its giving that, as you said "mad max" vibe.
My Sporty is a 2004 engine in a 2006 frame, I have gone with the rigid mounting as well, the entire bike is coming together from mainly ebay parts and decided that the rubber mounts I got were in a bit of rough shape and rather than replace them too often I went with the TC bros rigid mounts, well worth the extra cost!!!!!
@@Sflboater100 I bought a used stock ignition system and will be using stock set up aside from the TSSM unit, I'll be making the wiring harness from scratch.
I’m building a bike from a Lowbrow/Gasbox full frame and a 2006 ignition. Unless you know something I don’t, you’ll need to switch to an aftermarket ICM or you won’t be able to omit the TSSM.
@@Sflboater100 If you are interested, I have a bare bones wiring diagram that works for the '04- '06 bikes that eliminate the TSSM, along with most every other extra bits.
Sandblast and clearcoat frame and tins. You can always paint over later? Also see if you can adapt a Streetbob handlebar clamp instrument panel on the rabbit ear crossbar. Yeah no speedo "chopper shit" is great, but if the clamp gauge can be adapted it will keep with the minimalist modern injected chopper theme youre going with. And pevent "accidental" speeding tickets. 😁 Sucker Punch still my favourite giveaway bike. 👍
When is episode 5 going to be available? I'm currently building my 2009 nightster, was going to do a hard tail weld on kit, but I went with a full frame build instead I just finished stripping and redoing my wiring harness. just curious to see where or how you guys will hide the ecm, and fuse blocks. I also deleted the TSM. To answer your question keep it raw/patina will look good after it gets a coat of clear.
something i've never seen is a bike all done in 'stainless steel' look. Chrome is a bit yawn and easy, but maybe a polished steel / stainless look? definitely something different! no idea how youd do it though :-)
What does the saying up in arms mean? Angry, rebellious Angry, rebellious, as in The town was up in arms over the state's plan to allow commercial flights at the air base. This idiom originally referred to an armed rebellion and was so used from the late 1500s. BTW this build will be sick AF! great job far from the days of a headlight install.
Kind of Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man vibe with the bare metal. Damn, Put "Block Head Designed" decals on the tank, some pinstripes on the fenders, let it patina a bit and clear coat it. If you keep the exhaust flappers which is cool in a red neck kind of way, you'll have to call her "Florida Man". In all seriousness, it's a cool looking bike, but I'd never ride it, that rigid frame is going to be a real back breaker. Hell, at 50 years old, my XL is only tolerable with the stock suspension and a Saddlemen Dominator seat. Side note, if you carbureted that b*tch, you could make it shoot flames out the pipes, and that would be sick with the exhaust flappers.
You covered the Custome Goldzilla sign with a pirate flag? Ouch! I was fine with beign regulated to the fridge left over shelf , but then to be covered by a flag after the hours of work that I put into it. I blame Shadetree surgeon for this disrespect. 🤣
It's not covered up, we put it over by the car lift with the Goldzilla parts! We need to find a solid place to hang that thing! The numbers have changed up so much on that bike 😅
@@BlockheadMoto I'm not seriously offended. I was just trying to be funny is all. you could use that sign for target practice if you want to. When i get back into powder coating I will make you a sign that truly lives up to your shops stature. Come to the October Forgotten Angels camp out in october to see my best and greatest gift I have ever done. I bet I get a no way reaction from you.
Wish I could get the time-lapse to work on my sportster build. Holy crap this is a lot of work and if I get one more shard of flaking crome plating embedded in my flesh I'm gonna freak the F@$K out 😅😅😅

Patina Chopper? RustinPeace from LNSPLTBLVD its a Honda Shadow so no copy cat but an amazing build
I love the raw patina with a nice clear coat.
Paint and raw metal
Raw metal looks bad ass!
The bare metal looks bad ass on that bike with the exhaust the way it is
Sparkle paint feels like a must with that seat
Did this project ever get finished??
Raw metal looks great
If you're gonna Frisco mount the tank you should cut the tunnel out and flat bottom it with a more shallow tunnel to increase fuel capacity
You know, you're right... but that's more work 😂
@@BlockheadMoto if you're gonna respect anything you gotta respect honesty. 👍
Leave it raw metal for sure. It looks so sick
Definitely love the raw steel look idea.
Raw Mental man, RAW METAL all the WAY !!!! Cheers from Australia. 👍😎👍
Cheers Adam!
Chris is funny AF!! I love it!
Huge fan of the channel, love what you guys are doing! I like the raw metal look, it has a kind of rat rod feel.
Thanks for watching, Rick!
I think the raw metal look as awesome!
Glad to see you guys hang w/Kruesi Originals

For the exhaust, maybe remove the flappers and notch the top of the pipes to make a design in them? 😊

Black out the rims, WW tires, Pin stripe the raw steel and matt Clear coat !! Rat Rod that Biatch !!
S S 1250 kit Rocks !
I sold those things for years. In the manufacturer's catalog for the ones we sold, they are called rain caps.
I really like the bare metal look too.
I'm sure that it's a great project. I'm starting to work on my own
Raw metal!! The real is just over done. You just did a dyna with a real like color.
The Dyna Beach Cruiser! That was more a seafoam than teal, but I see what you're saying, it was close!
RAW HEAVY METAL!
I'd say paint it a sick yellow🤘
Almost 9 minutes into a 20 minute video before any work actually starts
I'm probably the only one but I think it would be cool in black.
Honestly I was so happy with the gauge relocation that I did it to mine. Works fine, I have no issue seeing the gauge when I need to.
Also definitely raw.
Glad it's getting 1250 love, I have the hammer 1275 and every bike should've came 1250 hooligan!
Gunbarrel gray. 😎
That'd be fitting! lol
Paint it!!! Dodge has a blue called “B5 blue” or Corvette has a color “LaMans blue” either would be cool.
I really like the chromed out look but Im thinkin a nice coat of paint with chrome would be pretty sic too

Teal with a raw metal stripe might look good.
Good works on the bike guys.

Take the collar off of the exhaust flappers if you plan to keep them.
And just weld the ears of the pivot point to the pipe to clean it up a bit.

Acetone and transmission fluid mixed makes a good penatrating lubricant!

What about raw rat rod look?? Either way the build so far looking pretty cool guys! 😎

So was this project scrapped? No new episodes on it for 7 months
Paint it, too sleek and well put together to be a rat rod. Fits in way better as a hot rod with a classy paint
Thanks Nicholas!
clear coat over that raw metal and leave it!!
I think you do the raw metal. Worse case you don’t like it then you can still paint over it!
