Wouldn't it be better to put the body parts together in Illustrator as separate layers, then import the Illustrator file as separate layers into After Effects so you won't have to worry about assembling the character again, as well as to prevent any rasterization issues caused by importing image files when it comes to scaling?
Awesome tutorial, I've been trying to nail this style the last few days and your solutions were way easier and cleaner than mine. Thanks for putting this out there!
How does the art style change with the recent games? Is it the exact same art style and it's just the lighting is much nicer or did they tweak the artstyle?
What are videos like this called, like what's the genre? It's like the genre where people draw in pre established styles or make new textures for games like up-resing or like Animelee. I've been seeing some more of this style of content and want to see so much more of it but don't know what to look up.
I’ve been struggling with the same. I get some good results with just typing in something along the lines of, “creating a paper Mario styled game”. If this genre of stylized tutorials get a proper name, please let me know lol
Lemme just say this is a fantastic tutorial, but I'm using gimp and for the life of me I can't figure out how to change a shape into an outline like you said in the video. Do you have any idea how to do it in gimp or does anyone else for that matter?

I stuck around to the end and I did not regret it. YAHOOO!

Pro Tip: You can Also Use *Adobe Animate* to do stuff like this.
You can also use only Animate to both make sprites and animate.
