    I'm pretty sure that as an electrician, if a plumber has to sort out your wiring then you are required to pack it in 😂

    I just witnessed the same thing,a child daycare center had a company come out and diagnose one of their ten ton A.C. systems.Well they condemned it and said there was nothing they could do but replace the unit at 16,000 dollar's. So they got my name from a friend and I went to look at it and repaired broken wire, and it was up and running fine! Great video Petey(my name is also Pete)

    You did the right thing and you will have earned new customers who are watching. That was a non-condensing boiler which every person over 50 knows are so much more reliable than the new energy saving condensing boilers that the EU forced on us in 2005 which causes no end of leaks, blockages and failures and hence a significantly shortened life. I think those so called energy saving boilers are a false economy due to the repairs required so the honest plumber knows it is always worth attempting to repair those old style bulletproof non-condensing boilers, some can last beyond 30 years.

What you save in gas with a new boiler you'll spend on 3 Combi replacements or repairs in that time. And my dad has one in his house that is 46 years old and never breaks down.

    Very commonly done system at one time. One 2 Port on the CH & a two channel programmer on gravity HW.
    In the Winter the CH would only be on with the HW & in the Summer the Boiler Thermostat was your only HW temperature control.
    Fitted 100’s of systems like that back in the day, saved a shed load on controls & wiring........We were cheapest on quotes, got the job & you were stuck at home waiting for the phone to ring!!😂😂😂😂.......Kerching, kerching💷💷💷💷

    Whereas when you call for hot water at 3
    Why wouldn't heating at 4 become live
    The jumper is linking 3 and 4 together?

    Could you not have the valve to give a feed to the boiler switch live once the valve is fully open?
    I am an electrician but have never really been involved in heating systems so don't know what is normal.

    • @steowens8243
      @steowens8243 2 года назад

      No, because the boiler doesn't get the power from the valve like it normally would, it's basically working like a gravity system but its fully pumped, so it has to get the power from the HW, so when he puts the CH on the HW switches on aswell and powers the pump and boiler, all the CH zone vakve is doing in this case is putting power to the motor to open the valve to let the water through, newer system it would open then put power to pump and boiler and be able to work independently as there would be two 2 zone valves 👍

    • @98067100
      @98067100 3 года назад +1

      The boiler stat becomes the dhw temp control. Same as gravity set up you end up running the boiler on a very low setting albeit in this case its fully pumped but I'd take a guess the cold feed and open vent haven't been moved and someone's half converted it.

    why would you install a system where the water is always heated when the central heating is on? Was it based on the idea that if you're heating the water you might as well heat the cylinder up too to save or something? cheers pete, great vid, trying to understand the wiring side of central heating more.

      By wiring up the programmer wrong. By condemning the boiler for the want of a spark generator and a motorised valve head. Apart from that he was wonderfully competent and efficient at providing a professional service to the customer.😳

    Why do people try an fix things they have no idea what there doing. They need a new boiler, i would have suggested a combi conversion. Your going to be going back to that constantly.
