I think Rock's promo most likely crippled Billy Gun's career, but it was Edge's promo 2 years later after he won the King of the ring that finished it off. Edge:"I promise I won't "Billy Gun" this King of the Ring title"
I remember him winning the IC title and feuding with Christian and Angle. The problem is, he was not part of the invasion storyline, so he might as well have been invisible.
David Heath (Gangrel) is actually one of the most influential guys, I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. He’s taught me quite a bit, and believe it or not, he’s the one who’s taught Rusev how to be a Heel.
I'll never forget that rock promo on billy gunn, total savage moment from a trash talking machine. Billy gunn was done and this was only about a month after winning the king of the ring
Parker Point he didn't bury him, he cut a brutal promo on the mic in the middle of the ring. Billy gunn was at the start of what should have been a main event push here and was feuding with the rock, he had plenty of opportunities to respond and up his game but he simply couldn't.
Yes, that "assman" gimmick worked so well for Ed Leslie in mid 90's WCW they thought it would be a great idea to resurrect it... well it worked for midcard attitude era WWF but he couldn't go any higher.
Jamie Holmes i know i'm in the minority but i kind of miss eva. She had nuclear heat and could of been used to get lots of faces over. Plus she looked pretty good which is always a Big bonus for me.
To further add insult to injury in regards to Billy Gunn, I think the nail in the coffin was when he teamed up with Chuck Palumbo and was publicly perceived as being gay.
But in the end it was not to be as they didn’t get married at the wedding & it was all a PUBLICLY STUNT as Billy Gunn said lol they were going to be a regular team after that if Gunn didn’t get injured.
I thought the Stone Cold boring segment was hilarious at the time with Lance Storm. However looking back, like with Perry Saturn, Lance Storm should have treated so much better. An absolutely phenomenal in worker.
So true, he was such an exciting worker, just look at his ecw days, while he probably would never become a top star in WWE, he could've stayed a valuable worker. And besides his wrestling style was everything but boring
I think any body can be made to be good if you book them properly. Storm was fantastic in the ring and I agree he wasn’t very charismatic on the mic so you book him with a manager to do the talking. He could have been a great US/ IC champion over the years. Similar to what the Miz is now.
Does anyone else remember when Edge & Gangrel were made a tag team in Wrestlemania 2000 for the Nintendo 64 (even though Christian was a playable character)?
Michael Lyden At the time of the Brood , Edge & Gangrel had the most tag matches , Gangrel brung Christian in & wore the Same shirts & Edge & Christian were seen as Brothers.
I was there when Maddox's controversial promo happened at the dark match in my hometown Indianapolis. And I was also there on Sunday Night Heat in Indianapolis in July 1999 when The Rock insulted Billy Gunn.
This should’ve been a top 10 because there’s one more Billy Gunn burial you neglected, and that’s when Edge shut him down on the mic during the awesome coronation ceremony the night after the 2001 King Of The Ring.
The Rock's character has to tear down the wrestlers he's feuding with on the mic. There was no way The Rock could go easy on the mic with his enemies because the fans expected The Rock's promos to entertain them by tearing down his opponents. All the wrestlers who feuded with The Rock knew they needed to up their game or be buried for sure. No matter what, every wrestler The Rock tore down with his promos needed to at least respond to The Rock in the ring, which is where The Rock would put them over by making it seem like they could beat him (and some of them did get the win, like The Hurricane with help from Stone Cold Steve Austin). The problem with Billy Gunn was that his skill level was not at the point where he could be a legitimate main event wrestler, even though The Rock did find ways to put Mr. Ass over. For example, during the buildup to their Summerslam Kiss My Ass match, Billy Gunn got the upper hand over The Rock during a fight and forced The Rock to literally kiss his ass.
He's not that good at burying as HHH. Burying and burying.. 2 different ways. The Rock always insulted, he sticked the words up all of our asses. And I think, we do not have to talk about what HHH did in his whole career. HHH buried Billy Gunn's and Road Dogg's career with DX. He used them soooo hard and what NAO gained? Nothing. Just love from us. And now, we love everything in Attitude Era, even heel son of bitches, like Vince McMahon. Sad.
Lakers fan idk if I agree yes n.a.o got a mega push with Dx but they were already at top storyline wise of tag division not only 4 their gimmick but were also champs b4 joining Dx. Also they joined Dx & were an established team years b4 dudleys,e & c, & hardy boyz got big they joined Dx in 97 hardy boys didn't even join main roster till 99. It's kinda how hardys were somewhat big b4 lita with either hates or Terri as their manager or part of the brood but didn't hit their peak until forming team extreme.then u say they would be been like dlo which ik Dilo wasn't WWE champ but he had a decent run winning multiple title. In fact he had a better singles career then either of them
Billy Gunn was pushed towards the main event in 1999 upon winning King of The Ring but unfortunately for Billy The Rock completely murdered him on the mic during their promos. Billy was also supposed to feud with Stone Cold but it was cancelled due to Austin not wanting to work with Billy. When one of the top stars completely blows you out of the water and the other one doesn't wanna work with you, it's pretty much over for you.
And then went to TNA to reform a team with Road Dogg to challenge Michaels and HHH to a match. Then after all that was deamed trash, he got hired back as a trainer for Tough Enough. Now he makes DX apperances. He will go into the WWE Hall of Fame with Dogg one day, though.
EpicGrapefruit Like I said, when one of the top stars (The Rock) blows you out of the water and the other one (Stone Cold) doesn't wanna work with you, you're pretty much screwed.

When it comes to Alundra Blayze, she created one of the most iconic moments in the Monday Night Wars... maybe in all of Wrestling that night. She had already had a celebrated career up to that point, and quite frankly, she needed a moment like that to cement her name forever. I'd actually trade an above average career for a mediocre career with one moment that would have me remembered forever... in a heartbeat I will make that trade.

And yet, Lance Storm's Killing The Town podcast with Don Callis is one of the best wrestling podcasts out there. Plus, he trains people that are regularly recruited by WWE. So hey-- I'd say he did pretty well for himself.
Goji73 maybe because it didn't kill his career? At that point his career was damn near over as it was but that had more to do with his diminished skill set than his crap promo

Madusa actually had that name in WCW in the early 90's, and thus she was returning to her old name when she returned to WCW. Plus, it was the horrible booking that killed her career more than dropping the WWF women's title in the trash can--although the latter pretty much guaranteed that she wouldn't be able to return to the WWE when WCW folded. However, by then Madusa had been retired for almost four years--aside from an embarrassing stint that involved the cruiserweight title and the JR ripoff Oklahoma--Don't ask.
To my astonishment, there are a lot of people who defend Nash's referring to "play" as an adjective and I had an argument online with a guy insisting that as used in "Where the big boys play" play is an adjective and not a verb. Imo, these guys don't know what verbs abd adjectives _are_ , while Nash simply misspoke.
The gangrel things is pretty funny because I actually remember that promo. It happened on the very first smackdown, and back then (when I thought wrestling was real) I was still like "that guy sucks"
wwe's lack of appreciation for athleticism killed Lance Storm's career. look at his wwe matches vs. his ecw matches and the difference is night and day. like many who came from ecw when wwe bought out all the competition Lance was an under utilized talent that wwe failed to do anything with. that was something ecw was good at, bringing the best performance out of their athletes.
*STOP* making references to Blade movies whenever you mention Brood. They were based on Lost Boys, you should start watching some of the interviews / documentaries featuring Edge.
or just watch blade and the lost boys. i dont think this lists writer has ever see a movie or tv show. he thought the rock didnt say "it doesnt matter" until after kotr 1999? morons
Billy Gunn's carreer was worth the sacrifice. That was the bext Rock promo ever... "But God, my name is Billy... It does not matter what your name is!"
Lance Storm wasn't released and isn't working the indie circuit. He retired and became a trainer and runs one of the best wrestling schools in the world that is on great terms with the WWE.
I don't know what the hell you're talking about. Brad Maddox is one half of the greatest tag team of all time with Xavier Woods. Future Hall Of Famer for sure.
Matt Hardy coming back to feud with Edge. The poor promo first night back killed his push and meant that he was always going to be in the shadow of Jeff during his WWE career and be midcard for life.
Happiness Bunny Oh come on that's bullshit. Not every promo he did was bad. He has had plenty of decent to good promos- especially the two recent ones. Stop being a hater. He's gotten better.
Yup, anyone who says suffering succotash in a promo, though that was probably Vince's idea, definitely belongs at the top of the list. That and the fact that Cena dressed Roman down on his promo skills says it all. Roman is a great worker but he needs either an advocate like the bore Brock Lesnar or just needs to not talk at all.

I really liked Alex Wright. Watching his matches with Paul Roma and Jim Duggan makes me sick to my stomach. Seeing those 2 talentless hacks no-sell everything, intentionally screw up moves and do everything they can to make themselves look good at Alex Wright's expense is sickening.
When you have to keep pausing the video and searching all the videos mentioned in this video in a separate tab, because this video won’t show any of the videos they mention.
James Ven den Berg (Sinister Minister, James Mitchell etcetera) cutting a promo on Glacier. That killed the character before it ever had a chance to do much of anything. Every WCW creative member including Kevin Sullivan has admitted this. The promo buried the character and the feud dead.
Not that his career was so promising before then, but Titus O'Neil cut a promo in Brooklyn where he was clearly nervous. Lip trembling and everything. You heard an audible "you can't talk!" chant. It was sad.
seriously, that photo at 6:00 just shows how powerful she is in real life, she would probably easily beat most of her female and male opponents if it was a real fight
You really can't mention promos that killed careers and not even play a brief clip from ANY of the promos.
Uh, yeah, def disappointed....

Well he did become a 7 time Champ, Money in the Bank winner and multi-time Tag Team champ so I'd say he did pretty well for himself.
My bad bro, went the wrong way with my response. All good. And you're right, he didn't go anywhere with the KotR win.
Jennifer Pyrce he won the ic title and went solo. He started main evening in 2002 then got injured.
I remember him winning the IC title and feuding with Christian and Angle. The problem is, he was not part of the invasion storyline, so he might as well have been invisible.
Thanks for the date. Forgot about the injury. Much appreciated.
After Lance Storm went off TV he became a trainer in OVW then he started his own wrestling academy. He trained Emma and Tyler Breeze.
He also trained Impact Wrestling's Laurel Van Ness, and recently trained Brian Pillman's son as well.
Lance storm in ring ability to teach is top notch mic work is damn horrible
And Sylvester LeFort
lance storm had exactly 1 good run and that was team canada in WCW. i love him, but let's not say he really had much of a career at that point.
@@jaypeso718 Lance Storm was super technique in the ring but he was a terrible promo guy.. Damn he was awful..

As his status, yes he's still main event. But to fans he's still crap. Those promos were beyond cringy
He basically broke the fourth wall after saying that, knowing it was terrible.
for some reason that was one of his best promos....I don't know how but a lot of people think that
It's the fact that the people who write promos today are garbage.
I'll never forget that rock promo on billy gunn, total savage moment from a trash talking machine. Billy gunn was done and this was only about a month after winning the king of the ring
David Baillie but i thought getting buried was a bad thing when people say hhh does it

David Baillie Ah ok and to be fair the "assman" gimmick could only go so far lol
Yes, that "assman" gimmick worked so well for Ed Leslie in mid 90's WCW they thought it would be a great idea to resurrect it... well it worked for midcard attitude era WWF but he couldn't go any higher.
I thought in my opinion that feud"Rock vs Gunn" was pretty damn good in an entertainment sense. I thought it was fine!
Eva Marie killed her career more and more each time she got a microphone
Jamie Holmes Why did you comment on the video 3 times?...
Don’t get me started on her wrestling performance
Jamie Holmes i know i'm in the minority but i kind of miss eva. She had nuclear heat and could of been used to get lots of faces over. Plus she looked pretty good which is always a Big bonus for me.
Jamie Holmes what about Eva's in ring work
It’s ok I hear Brazzers are hiring
To further add insult to injury in regards to Billy Gunn, I think the nail in the coffin was when he teamed up with Chuck Palumbo and was publicly perceived as being gay.
Mistah J Billy Gunn was always perceived as gay
I thought he was gay before the whole Chuck Pulumbo thing. Always thought that was innuendo apart of his gimmick

Asuka's and Shinsuke's mic work is godlike.
How about "Buda-like"? Shinsake looks like he is taking a painful shit when he is talking.
No Gully Bully? "Ya goin' swimmin'?" At least OSW acknowledged how bad that one was :P
When WhatCulture hires people is the only requirement to be named Adam? It really seems like that's the main prerequisite.
The Rock was extremely hilarious.... Stone Cold lived up to his name. That was cold as hell callin that match lol
4:08 I was there (right before raw went live) when I heard Maddox yelled names at the audience lol
I thought the Brood were more based on Lost Boys not Blade.
soddof that and Vampire: The Masquerade. That is where the name gangrel came from.
So you're just describing the promos, not actually showing them. Great content, guys. Keep it coming.
What about Abraham Washington's Kobe Bryant promo?
TARRPF guess he was stoppable
TARRPF Jesus that was bad.
2:56
unless you are handpicked as "THE MAN" by Mr McMahon
*cough* Roman Reigns *cough*
Cottonwood's mustache promo and McGillicutty's genesis promo were the best things they said on the mic for NXT season 2.
Alex Wright & Disco Inferno had potential to be a solid tag team
The gangrel things is pretty funny because I actually remember that promo. It happened on the very first smackdown, and back then (when I thought wrestling was real) I was still like "that guy sucks"
4:45 Seriously this guy 😂😂 perfect image
wwe's lack of appreciation for athleticism killed Lance Storm's career. look at his wwe matches vs. his ecw matches and the difference is night and day. like many who came from ecw when wwe bought out all the competition Lance was an under utilized talent that wwe failed to do anything with. that was something ecw was good at, bringing the best performance out of their athletes.
Man the Attitude Age was the golden age, I remember the Brood and Brotherhood of Ministry fondly and that huge brawl that happened on RAW one night
I already forgot Shockmaster's entrance and now I couldn't stop laughing after watching this.
The best thing about the Berlin was his body guard The Wall
Alex never really tried to comeback, he just made his choice to go back home, can't blame him
Alex trained a lot of quality wrestlers in Europe though. So at least there is that.
Black Adam: "Know your role you Jabroni"
Shazam: "But my name is Billy"
Black Adam: "It doesn't matter what your name is!"
no one gets your nerd jokes, nerd.
Whatculture is the WCW of RUclips ...it's in its final throes
*STOP* making references to Blade movies whenever you mention Brood.
They were based on Lost Boys, you should start watching some of the interviews / documentaries featuring Edge.
or just watch blade and the lost boys. i dont think this lists writer has ever see a movie or tv show. he thought the rock didnt say "it doesnt matter" until after kotr 1999? morons
Roman reigns killed his own career with bad promos but McMahon keeps giving him 2nd chances
wweecwwcwtnanba1928 reigns writes his own promos now
He didn't kill his career,McMahon was writing his promos for him before and they were absolutely AWFUL!!
So when someone like Bayley does a bad segment it's the writers fault, and when Roman does a bad one it's his fault? Ah smark logic
When Rock dropped that promo, Road Dogg should have run out from backstage to yell: "Oh, you didn't know?! Your @55 better CALLLLLL somebody!!!"
The Rock: What’s Your Name ?
Me: It’s S......
The Rock: IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT YOUR NAME IS !!!!!!!
Me:☠️☠️☠️
Edit:My Bad
Billy Gunn's carreer was worth the sacrifice. That was the bext Rock promo ever... "But God, my name is Billy... It does not matter what your name is!"
Small correction, if I may. She was Madusa in WCW long before she was Alundra Blayze, so it wasn't a new name.
Lance Storm wasn't released and isn't working the indie circuit. He retired and became a trainer and runs one of the best wrestling schools in the world that is on great terms with the WWE.
Berlyn not Burlyn is the Wright spelling.
birdmantd seems they've hit a Wall here
thank you
Bärlin
why didn't you include clips of the mentioned promo's?
I still love The Brood’s theme though....
Definitely top 5 all time themes
👍
Just watched the promos you mention and it was far better actually seeing them!!
I don't know what the hell you're talking about. Brad Maddox is one half of the greatest tag team of all time with Xavier Woods. Future Hall Of Famer for sure.
how do you make this video and not include a single clip from any of the promos
who else misses the real adam from whatculture like when i heard that music i was like adam is back adam is back but then he was like adam wilboard
Douglas Jewell nice grammar
Matt Hardy coming back to feud with Edge. The poor promo first night back killed his push and meant that he was always going to be in the shadow of Jeff during his WWE career and be midcard for life.
A video on Virgil?
Funny thing is about Shockmaster's debut is. Even Sid said himself "He's gonna trip over that...bet ya"
Every Reigns promo should've been his last
Happiness Bunny Oh come on that's bullshit.
Lance Storm was a trainer in Ohio Valley, before opening up his own school.

David Jesus Pretty damn solid.
Roman buries himself with his promos
When you have to keep pausing the video and searching all the videos mentioned in this video in a separate tab, because this video won’t show any of the videos they mention.
Every single Roman reigns promo
JD theone117 roman is the opposite bad promo = push
He had a few good promos
JD theone117 Roman's promos didn't kill his career what the fuck are you on about.
Gaming Titon I’m just saying he needs to learn to do a promo that’s all
Gaming Titon If it weren’t for giving him a second chance on the steroids problem he would have probably been gone
It was sad.
this video would contain 1 more....if cm punk was still here. He would've buried roman xD.
Daksh The King facts I miss punk
Centimeter punk
That would be a dream come true
seriously, that photo at 6:00 just shows how powerful she is in real life, she would probably easily beat most of her female and male opponents if it was a real fight
Wwe murdered us by giving the mic to roman
Edge and Christian fixed the Shockmaster’s promo on their show
Ho kogan we comin for u naggah!
I don't really think that promo killed Booker's career
How the fuck did that ruin anyone's career. I don't think Booker or Hogan suffered because of that promo.
I Identify As A Commodore 64 Since I'm An Old Fart it was just a honorable mention from me mate 😄 suckaaaa
