I started sewing a couple months ago and this pattern was my first project. The shirt was for a dance party my wife and I are going to attend in April with a bluebonnet theme so I opted for the "c" style with contrast yokes and cuffs. My wife is making a coordinating shirt for herself. I originally asked her if she would make a shirt for me and she said "sorry I don't make men's shirts." So I said I think I ca do it. I started my next shirt and had bookmarked your old videos. When I came back to reference one of the videos to refresh my memory on something the old videos were gone. It took me a minute to find this one. I'm glad you did a new one. I really appreciate you putting this video out. I'd have been lost without your tutorial. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for making this video, I've been muddling my way through this pattern as a noobie and this was super helpful

Love to see another bro who sews. With all due respect, the video lacks camera work with better lighting. More upclose detailed video is also needed. I offer these suggestions not to criticize but to communicate what we the viewer looks for. I have subscribed and look forward to seeing more. I fully support content such as this. Not enough, guys who sew!!

Thanks for being a bro who sews. I’ve been sewing for 2 months and have just bought this pattern. Being a bigger dude I bought the bb pAttern and have extended and expanded the pattern. Being 5XL the choice of pattern is limited. This is what made me decide to learn how to sew my own clothes. What was it that made you interested in sewing?

It was actually dress shirts, I wanted to make subtle nerdy dress shirts with small Pokémon or Star Wars designs

Great tutorial thank you. I have this pattern but haven’t made it up yet. The info about cutting 1-2 sizes down is very useful. You mention adding length for taller guys, do the sleeves also need extending if taller or do you find they are okay as they are? Thanks.

I find that for me they are completely fine for me. To make sure you can measure the sleeve and cuff pattern pieces and subtract 2.5 inches to account for the seams. After this measure your arm and you'll be able to tell if you'll need to add more. Hope this helps!

Hey Bro. I just happened to have this pattern in my stock and searched for a tutorial and found you on RUclips. Thanks for taking the time to make this video, it is very helpful. I do have a question when it comes to the placket. How do you know which way to face the fabric when you are sewing it down before building the packet? Wrong side down or right side down? I think I figured it out, but it is not clear in my mind. Sending much happiness to you.

For the cuff placket, you’re going to want to place right side of the button placket down on top of the wrong side of the sleeve.

My 77 year old man brain can't remember all the steps perfectly and I plan to make a number of shirts with this pattern. To help me find a step to review I made the following list. Maybe it will help others too.
    00:00 General
    02:36 Step 17 - Attach yokes back
05:15 Step 18 - Attach front pieces to back (making a 'burrito')
    07:19 Step 21 - Turn the 'burrito' inside-out, press seams & top-stitch
09:42 Step 23 - Wrist plackets on sleeves
    22:31 Step 29 - Sleeve pleats
24:46 Step 30 - Attach the sleeves to the shirt
    26:36 Step 31 - Press and top-stitch sleeve seams
    27:26 Step 32 & 33 - Side & sleeve seams
    28:47 Step 34 - Cuffs
    38:04 Step 38 - Bottom hem
    38:58 Step 39 - Button plackets
    43:25 Step 44 to 49 - Collar

Hey just come across your site enjoying this tutorial on shirt making! Thank you impressive Singer treadle machine in the corner of your room, do you use it?

Unfortunately right now it’s missing a strap so it’s out of commission but I’m working on getting a replacement and I plan on using it in videos in the future

Did you put clear tape on the edges of your pattern pieces? 10:18

You caught me! I did, I accidentally cut through the edge of the paper and instead of having it flapping around and making pinning a nightmare I taped it back together best I could. Inadvertently making pinning a nightmare nonetheless
