  • This was probably one of the worst blocked plates I'd come across, I wasn't even sure if it would clean, and regardless, how much debris would be inside the block and other internals of the boiler.

I am of the same opinion when testing electrodes you have to ground it to get a spark.

Emergency call-out for the plate 😂, think they may have been getting a few tell tail issues a short time prior 🤔

When testing a spark electrode , hold metal flange on metal surfaces otherwise you will not get a spark , good video

You are absolutely right. The spark tester confirmed that the the ignition was working, Changing the board was not a logical step, I recon the new electrode cleared the fault. Ah well, hopefully the customer was happy.

Why not install an isolation switch next to the boiler in the loft would only cost a few quid and be better for all engineers,👍✅🍺🇬🇧

Fuse spur should not be downstairs, or it should have local isolation by the appliance for safe working practices. Re attic Baxi.

6:02 Surely you would only see a spark when the second electrode was grounded to the case ??? (one wire flapping has nothing to spark 'to')

You are really not getting to the bottom of many of the issues you attend to. You cannot test a ‘dangling’ igniter - it has to be grounded. Are you sure the PCB was defective - what proving tests did you do? Did you try reseating the board connections? The system with the ‘defective’ pump - did you advise the customer that the system is dirty and needs flushing.
Why reinstall a cleaned plate heat exchanger when you could see scale in the feed pipe?
Sorry, I realise there may be stuff happening that is not shown in the video but what is shown just raises questions.
