I really recommend reacting to Eric Johnson playing Cliffs of Dover Live in Austin Texas 1988. If you haven't seen it, prepare to be blown away! Eric was the first guitarist That Satriani and Steve Vai chose to have tour with them in their G3 concerts. He plays a Fender Strat with a tone that many believe to be the best.
The studio version flows better, but it was probably edited from multiple takes, because I can see ANY guitarist struggling with playing it live without errors. Still, you can’t beat a good live performance over a flawless studio recording.
I'm over 60 and never heard of him before but l'm listening to that as l type this. It's a really clean track and l'm sold on that sound because sometimes l just want to listen to rock orientated instrumentals, guitar, sax, violin piano...etc. Cheers from New Zealand brother 🍻
Such a great and monumental song for Joe. It's what I thing made his first and strongest presence in the shred guita player scene out there. Great reaction too!! Thank you! I've seen Joe Satriani live many times throughout his career. Here's a really good song that displays everything that is awesome about Joe Satriani. It's a live performance of his song, "Made Of Tears" ruclips.net/video/M4lsB-B1O7U/видео.html Here's a link on How To Play this song from this specific performance. Tabs in "Real Time" with the video performance!!! ruclips.net/video/SI6-R-9p2kc/видео.html
probably the best performance by joe has to be "summer song" from the extremist album 92. Joe made 4 albums in the 90's. The extremist 92, Time machine 94, The red album(ironically his most bluesy album in the 90s 95, and Crystal planet 98. I pretty much spent the 90's listening to these 4 albums. All 4 are incredible! My overall favorite is crystal planet.
In his original VHS tape he talks about his early albums where he used different techniques he used to create the high energy of a high hat etc. Just by using his guitar.
bought this album new in '87 and still have it - love this song but my favorite from it is 'crushing day' . killer tune : here's a live on it : ruclips.net/video/FuoBoWCym0k/видео.html
You asked about Satriani influences, some are Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Brian May, Jimmie Page and Eric Clapton. And you asked for his songs with vocals "Big Bad Moon" is a great one. And " Ride" is smooth song And two more great one by Steve Vai are "Tender Surrender " and " For the Love of God" Both Masterpieces !
Us "Normal" guitar players, could lift 8 bars from Anywhere in this song, and have Our Hot Guitar Solo, for our Song. Joe shows what a Lifetime of serious Practice and Dedication can accomplish. Joe is also the Nicest, most Humble Guy, always willing to Share His Knowledge with anyone who asks!
I'm happy to welcome a new wide-eyed fan to the joe satriani club! A lot has happened since you played this 2006 track. While you're wading through Joe's wealth of material, look up "additional creations and bonus tracks" on RUclips... You'll find exciting compositions that show off his creative ability!!
I suggest Joe Satriani Live. The song: Circles. It's a 3-4 minute song and an almost 10 minute track that ends up turning into a jam session. I consider this to be the defining performance of the guy's live shows.
Joe's the man. You should also check out GuitarOne magazine's "Top 10 Greatest Guitar Shredders of All Time" Paul Gilbert - I'll suggest "Paul vs. Godzilla. One other one of note if you are not familiar is Steve Morse -"Collateral Damage". I think you'll enjoy.
Okay, now check out Steve Morse playing with his trio on a song called The Introduction, with his first band The Dixie Dregs playing Cruise Control or Take It Off The Top , or with Deep Purple playing Ted The Mechanic.
I have watched this many times… Thanks for covering this performance. Joe is getting ready to tour again. If anyone wants to see a master, I recommend it.
That would be Jeff Campitelli, and he is indeed amazing. Also of note is Dave LaRue on bass. He's played with the likes of The Dixie Dregs and Dream Theater, so he's also no slouch
If you really want to see one of Joe's best live performances, check out his work with Sammy Hagar's band Chickenfoot. Specifically this live track, "The Future in the Past'. ruclips.net/video/A16ghCx2cKc/видео.html
enjoyed the Santa cruz and wingin it tunes..and I'll throw out Joe's "Big Bad Moon" as a suggestion for you..he actually did some with lyrics and it has kind of a country/blues vibe to it.Check it out
Ibanez are well considered for SPEED , because , Thin Necks and relatively Flat Fingerboard . Yeah . Other people stay in their Lane . Joe owns the Pool .
Can play a few Satch songs like summer song and always with you, when i was 17 yrs old and could still play Cliffs of Dover from Eric Johnson at same time. , man good times on my end,
do the chicken foot cover of highway star chicken foot is Joe Sammy hagar Micheal Anthony van Halen and Chad Smith from the chili peppers off the chart

But that intro on the album version has the best gibson 335 sound ever!!! Always thought it was better than his strat sound
@@fchampd4512 I always thought the intro and outro of the song were on a Strat , while the rest was on the Gibson. Am I wrong?

Satch Boogie is another amazing tune from the early 80s :)
When Joe was born the doctor said "wait, there's something else coming. Oh, it's an Ibanez"
My 2 favorite rock players are Alex Lifeson and Joe Satriani
Strong choices !
@@joefenech6839 if i was to choose a country artist it would be Chet Atkins, Glenn Campbell, and Jerry Reed

This was one of AFN's signature tunes in Germany in the late 80's. Really got my attention.
"Made of Tears" is a MUST
Great song and reaction 👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
saw Joe in pompano Beach got to sit at the main console with the sound man one of the best shows I ever been to what a cool crew
I suggest Joe Satriani Live. The song: Circles. It's a 3-4 minute song and an almost 10 minute track that ends up turning into a jam session. I consider this to be the defining performance of the guy's live shows.
That pause on one of my best friends growing up Jeff Campitelli on.drums .I grew up around Joe .Their band was'' The Squares
When I 1st saw him, for the "Surfing" Tour...... he had Fuzzy HAIR!!!

Please check out Phil Keaggy. Look at County Down, please.
Yes - Great suggestion! Thank you. Stay tuned.
Joe Satriani taught Kirk Hammett and Steve Vai how to play guitar.
Among others.
Kudos to that drummer. Got to be hard to keep up with that pace.

Summer Song 🎵
Max Ostro- (Promenade) is the only name you need to take a look at

When Joe plays, he kinda reminds me of Vin Diesel doing a Stevie Wonder impression. Probably got a lot to do with the shades tho, tbf.
Rock fans love brad pasley
Try the song Big Bad Moon from his album Flying In A Blue Dream. Not a duff track on the album.
Joe does "Flying in a blue dream"....
Go check out Joe playing this tune in some dudes or students bedroom on a cheap Strat on a line 6 spider or something?? It is killer man……
So many better songs to see by him
STU HAMM ON BASS!!!!!!
Ibanez have those thin necks is why so many play them.
MORE VOLUME FOR SATCH SONGS!!!!!!!!

Definitely! Great suggestion

I disagree...I think the creme-de-la-creme of Satriani is Crushing Day, a song that is much overlooked. You can find it on YT.
NEVER STOP A SATCH VIDEO SHORT..... HIS OUTROS ARE BETTER!!!
its all about legato with joe
Ibanez definitely a good choice for shredding ... flat neck, thin and wide
Joe ain't got a lane he takes up the whole damn highway, both ways.
Shredders seem to like Ibanez.
Except Yngwie Malmsteen. Lol

Go with anything Guthrie Govan does
React to Mr Bungle , carousel please. Or squeeze me macaroni
Steve Vai is who you need to review.
Try
Made of tears, live
Awesome
Now listen to Big bad moon. He sings on that one.
Do some Yngwie Malmsteen!
All those licks and tricks are memorized. Same as album. Maybe a little special small improve.
You may be a good musician but you’re a lousy engineer you need to clean that sound up
