Barrett is the low key MVP of Kinda Funny.
The weighted list voting is nothing new, but I did like the production Barrett put into this. I was unsure at first about how the tie was handled, which is nonstandard and essentially makes this a top 11, but I'm glad because more games get recognition that way and I'm specifically happy to see Hitman 3 make it to that spot.
Well done Barrett, the edits were fantastic. Brought game of the year for kinda funny to another level.
This format is so much better than listening to people argue about how much they like a game over how much someone else likes a different game. Awesome episode guys! Appreciate the extra production value as well.
Hmm, I was just thinking the opposite, funnily enough. Another (in my opinion) boring choice from KF. I personally feel that this method homogenizes the process too much. Oh well...
I think this is the method you use to dwindle the list down to nominations, then from there everyone submits their choice out of the nominations and the most popular one wins.

Agreed! I loved seeing interactions between hosts we normally don’t get together on the same show too!
Also, I appreciate that everyone wasn’t constantly trying to talk over each which usually happens with bigger casts like this but the restraint and respect these folks have for each other kept that from happening which I think is fantastic. Really enjoyed this one, can’t wait for the next one lol
@@breadboi8747 I agree that this episode worked but I think the big group ones require some underlying structure (like the list) or an even clearer defined host role to prevent the crosstalk. Especially since it's still all virtual.
The way Janet & Greg both moved to the side at the same time as soon as Paris said Psychonauts was his #1 killed me. 😂😂😂

I gotta say having such a varied and diverse cast of gamers has truly enriched KF content and games coverage.
I remember a time when KF would only play certain types of games, and now it's like every type of game is covered.
Props to the team for evolving.
They just gotta represent PC gamers a bit better

I love this format and how you guys went about the list and reveal. Great job, i think it’s a great formula going forward. Seems extremely fair and entertaining.

The process of building this list was super interesting. Well done Barrett! Only suggestion I'd make is that once you know the top 10, everyone vote again but only among those 10 games. That way no points go to "waste" on a game that didn't make top 10.

What a fantastic GOTY presentation. I love this format, even if a game that doesn’t have a specific champion tends to win. It avoids people tearing down games during a live discussion and makes the entire conversation more positive. The fact that everyone made it onto the cast was amazing - well organized and people not talking over each other. I love how it’s revealed to the cast for live reactions.
You guys killed it. I don’t know if you need to change anything, but if you do, I’m sure you’ll have your reasons.

i wish tales of arise and scarlet nexus swapped release dates. i had a ton of time for scarlet nexus (played about 30 hours) and no time for tales of arise. -Andy

I am so happy to hear you all talk about Psychonauts 2 the way it deserves. I would have loved a full spoilercast on the game from y'all. I loved this game and i feel like no one really gave it the love it deserved especially getting snubbed at the game awards.

Returnal was so close….that was my game of the year.
LIS number one for me. That game hit me so damn hard. All of the parental trauma and being split up from your sibling…it felt like I was playing as myself. Guardians number two. Give every award to that writing team. Ratchet 3. So damn fun. What a great year overall. Missing that 10/10 but soooo many 9’s and 8.5’s.
Shout out to KF. Continuing to kill it with the addition of Janet and having Paris on consistently. Barrett is the unsung hero of KF and absolutely killed it with this episode. You love to see it.

Because it’s not that great of a game. It’s beautifully stunning yes, but the actual gameplay was super mediocre and boring after a bit imo….

I really like this GOTY format, it greatly diminishes the amount of salt and is a more pleasant conversation overall. I haven't played the number one yet but I look forward to it.

I actually enjoyed last year's GOTY discussion as well. It was just weird that FF7R turned out to be Nr. 1, when it was no one's personal GotY. That's why the point system can be flawed.

Loved hearing Andy put over Outriders at the end. I skipped it at launch following the reviews, but I am currently playing it post-patch and changes, and I'm having a blast.
This Game of the year points system with all of the KF crew is so good. I think you should do it for tv shows and movies aswell.
