Great comparo, man. I’d like to grab a 669/469 at some point-Pachmayr made grips for the 2nd gen compacts. I bet that would feel niiiice. Interesting on the ejection port/slide. The earlier 3rd gens actually were cut like the 2nd gens. I have a 1990 3914 and the cuts look basically the same as your 669. The breech face and the little tab thingy on the barrel are also different on the later 3rd gens vs. the early 3rd gens/2nd gens. Thanks for sharing. Makes me want to get my 6904 to the range.

Yea it interesting to the the 3rd gen go through 3 phases . The early years with some 2nd gen carry overs like trigger guard and ejection port and all stainless parts . Then the next phase which is what I feel is the main phase of 3rd gen with wider ejection and rounded trigger guard and then min parts in black . But the end was the value lines which I made a 908 video and man they changed even more to cut costs . The 908s has no front rails but longer rails over all and less milling and square slide . But the main change is the even wider ejection port on the value lines and in the end . Eventually smith was going to make this a beretta 92 open ejection port ! It’s a joke but I’m sure they realized more room to eject is a bonus especially with dirty guns. My 908 is even easier to rack even with same size guide rod spring . I think it’s the looser tolerances on the value line.

And it blows my mind that the 669 had ribbed lines on barrel . Heat dissapation is the only guess I could think .
