Its not the point of being perfect, its a matter of hazards, how long the car will as well. Otherwise you just wasted thousands of dollars in a poorly made car. You just dont buy something simply because you can afford it. I have nothing against the Challenger, but if it has ton of blind spots, drives rough, and needs a lot of maintenance then its a waste of money.
I drive my RT daily love it! I bought mine for the look first. I am 5ft I have no problems driving my boat! The best car I’ve purchased. It’s got the look the speed and comfort with all the gadgets.
I bought my Challenger 2 months ago and was immediately pleased with how much more comfortable it was than the Camaro SS that I had last summer. I owned many Challengers and Cudas when I was younger and when I bought my new 1320 it was like slipping on a comfortable pair of jeans.
"Yeah the blindspots are pretty bad, just use the side mirrors and look out the back window. Now lets go to the back window. Yeah you cant really see anything out of there."
Its not a typical car to drive for regular typical drivers who are used to having kids in and out for the back seat and relies on the back window for the blindspots or uturns in underpasses. But for the rest of us, its a perfect daily driver. You just have to drive it different. Plus I have blindspot monitor that I hardly rely on but can come in handy on nights when people who drive with no lights in a small car and no engine noise wanna sneak up on me. Either way, I feel if you are a better driver than the mass majority of the people on the road then you can drive a challenger as easy as the other vehicles on the road
I came from driving a 2011 Camaro, and visibility in that was far worse. Even out of the front and side windows. You are SO right though, these cars must be driven differently. Just the size alone reminds me of some of those huge 60's and 70's cars. My parents had a 1973 Ford Galaxie 500. Google it and see for yourself how friggin huge it was. I used to drive it around town and friends would make fun of it saying that the cops from the show Streets of San Francisco used to drive one. Sadly, it was true.
The car I drove when I first started learning how to drive when I was 16 was my mom’s 2016 Scat Pack Challenger. It’s soon gonna be mine in like 6 months.
@@jimimack7298 My mother had a Ford Galaxy with air shocks on the back so the back was lifted up high and she made it look like a hot rod... To bad she sold that thing...
Ricky Vel my RT looks exactly like the Hell cat, but it’s the 5.7 and does me just fine... so many people think it’s a Hellcat, so I got personal plates that say "NOTACAT".... LOL....
Nyezaire Mclean belive it or not chicks do notice the sxt lol , just got one a couple weeks ago and so far all the compliments have been from women , they don’t care that it’s a v6 lmao
It feels huge because you’re sitting not very far forward the rear axle, and the hood is about as long as a Mercedes GT It feels big because it’s bigger than a Mustang or Camaro. It’s not a pony car. It’s more of a grand tourer, which is what I like about it. It rides better, and looks more retro and true to the original rather than futuristic as other retro rods appear.
i'm leasing a 18 challenger rt 6 speed manual hemi....not good in wet weather...eats gas...but you get so many looks and thumbs up..buy a bright color and a automatic
I don't know, I bought the T/A and it came with some pretty good upgrades compared to the Scat Pack. 275's (and yeah, they spin) on 9 1/2's, 6 piston front Brembos, Mopar CAI. Haven't regretted one minute, and the price is not that much difference that a Scat, but under the SRT.
Absolutely! Pretty much any Charger/ Challenger from the R/T to the Demon is a good value for the HP and handling. Just get a sunroof and Cross Path detection.
True. Some people LOVE their SXT's as much as we love our V8's. The whole line-up is great and with so much selection available. I just can't stand the BS that V8 owners lay on the V6 people. Some folks just like the way the car looks and could car less about horsepower. Also, the V6 people who say BS about us V8 owners. A friend of mine said to me after I bought the V8, "All you people who buy cars like that are going through a midlife crisis." He also had to add, "And you know what they say about those who buy cars with big engines...?" I challenged him to an unzipping, in front of our wives too. But like the Subaru owner that he is, backed down and refused to compare manhoods. (Wonder what shortcomings he's hiding.) And about the "Mid-Life Crisis" thing. Really? KCars, you are far from "Mid-life' And If I'm at Mid-life now, I'm gonna live till I'm 120. Hey, we love these cars and we should care less who tries to knock us for owning one. Other are just jealous!
Years ago we had this thing for dealing with the blind spots in these cars.....it was called.....turning your head, and looking. See, you didn't just glance in the mirror and rely on that. You actually had to turn your head and look. It was amazing. It was like the greatest thing ever invented. At various times I owned 3 Challengers, 2 Cudas, several Satellites and Road Runners, a Charger or two, and they all had blind spots. Hell, the giant station wagons with 14 glass windows had blind spots, but at the end of the day, you turned your head and looked. I had a 1970 Ford Torino GT, and the back window in that thing had to be 7 feet long, but it was laid over a such an angle that it looked very small in the rear view mirror. the sail panels on that thing could hide an 18 wheeler. Also, most cars back then didn't have a passenger side mirror. A passenger side mirror on most cars was an option. So...you had to turn your head...and LOOK. I'm amazed at how many people think that glancing in the side mirror is sufficient, when really, it's not.
I thought it'd be tougher but I drove a rental for about a week and it's actually pretty nice tbh. Good handling and for it being the base model even that one had a good jolt when you hit the gas.. I thought it'd be hard to see out the window but it wasn't.
Flex or you’re just a patriotic American, who lives in America, who enjoys American made cars, which so happens to be this beautiful American muscle car. Get the point my guy.
If you want blind spots try the camaro. I've driven a challenger and it was surprising. It was only the 3.6. But it would move. It is large but I didn't feel it while driving. The car is humongous. It's a 300 with 2 doors. Big trunk, big interor, big car. Walking up and sitting down its a barge. Driving, it doesn't feel larger then the mustang. And it's way easier to drive then the camaro. My guess, they tighten the suspension on the performance cars. The sxt is rides like the barge it is, and handles surprisingly well. Visibility is good. Not as good as the mustang, but good.I feel you on the spin though. Some ass hat had put cheap uniroyal tiger paws on it. All they wanted to do was spin even with the 6 I couldn't really try the acceleration b/c of spin. Some CS 5's would have worked on it I think. Don't see CS3's lasting at all.
charredskeleton I have both a Camaro and He Challenger, the Challenger is so easy to see areas around the car compared to the Camaro... do not get me wrong, I love em both.. just hard to see around the Camaro compared to the Challenger.....
I have been a GM guy my entire life. I have owned so many fast GM's it's crazy. However, when it came to buy a new car I test drove a 2018 SS Camaro and within minutes I parked it. I told the Certified GM car salesman "no thank you." That really hurt especially as I actually became friends with the guy and was ready to buy. I even drove my 2002 Firehawk down there just to show him and even paid to have the car delivered from another state...that's how sure I was. You see, I'm blind in my right eye and I couldn't see anything on the right side of the car. I actually got quite depressed thinking...my muscle car days were over. Then I looked outside of my comfort zone and found a 2017 yellow and black Dodge Challenger RT. The car feels like a dream when driving it and I can see what the Hell I'm doing in it. Since then (two weeks ago) I have had the airbox changed and exhaust done (Borla). It is now over 400hp and I'm very happy with it.
I got a 17 Challenger SXT back in September of last year and it suits my needs, 305 is good hp. And I agree with that people try to race you 😄 but this is a good car. I chose the sxt over the RT because of gas, I get about 28 on the highway, and 25 in the city, not too shabby.🤩
SandoBamesXP I just bought the 2019 Challenger and just got back from a 500 mile run from Wisconsin to Cleveland Ohio, I averaged 27 mpg on the highway with the RT, was very surprised on how good it did.....
My 2013 R/T 5.7L/6 Speed/3.73 limited slip rearend gets 27 mpg, cruising at 70, 28 mpg cruising at 65, 33 mpg cruising at 55. I live out in the country and drive about 11-12 miles to go into several nearby towns/cities, so my driving is combo, averaging 20-22 mpg.
If you drive defensively and smart in adverse conditions you won't have problems generally speaking. I had a 73 Cougar when I was younger back in the 80s. That car had a huge blind spot, so I'm used to it. As for the people that want to race.... I haven't had that happen yet, but I have only had my SRT8 for a couple of weeks. I have noticed some drivers being a little more aggressive around me. 😃😃
I’ve been following this channel for awhile and it’s a good one. You can buy a challenger or don’t, or buy a pony car or something from across the pond. One thing you need to realize is that a car purchase is not a life decision. Think of it as an expensive pair of shoes and nothing more so you’ll be free from worry or regret. American muscle is on borrowed time so buy that big V-8 and enjoy the rumble while you can. 👍
My SXT does not have a back up camera. I live in a small town where the top speed limit is only 55 so the SXT fits me just fine. I agree the blind spots are a problem at times but not often. I get followed often by cops, always checking my speed. I know, I know, I only have 305 horsepower but suites me just fine.
I love my challenger. I bought mine brand new (never buying new again) and it's great. 2015 B5 Blue. I'm used to driving huge cars but the blind spots on this thing is a pain. Definitely opt for the blind spot sensors. Even if you are good at detecting that sort of thing, the blind spot sensors are soooo nice and make driving it so much easier. It's a blast and I encourage anyone to test drive one on the busy streets with the convenience and assist package. Hey, you can always turn those features off if you want to prove how badass you are or whatever.
Martin says/ the R/T'S sit to high , they tend to wander at higher speed, they don't look nice. I lowered mine 2 inches and looks alot better plus it handles lots better
I got an 11 RT manual for a daily driver in Cleveland and it’s great!! Lots of fun but tame enough to keep yourself from too many tickets and stay somewhat safe. Does good in snow too surprisingly
I was on the highway and there was a dodge challenger that would speed up once I tried to pass him. I wasn't trying to race him, ffs I drive a v4 accord, it isnt even a contest. I then got in front of him (to be fair, only because a car in front of him slowed down) and pushed my car as hard as I could for fun. I only got to 120 mph and it was fun zigzagging between lanes at that speed with the challenger behind me. I had only seen my car as a means of transportation, that's why I got a Honda, it was cheap, reliable and fuel efficient, but after this, I am considering buying a fast car just for fun.
I've had my 2009 titanium metallic Dodge Challenger SE for over a year now. I love the car so much. Brought mine for $8,500 with 128k miles (now has 140k). Everyone gives me shit for not getting a v8 but I'm not the type to tear ass or race anyone, I brought it for the cool and somewhat nostalgic look and design. The only mods I've done on my car was tinted windows and lights, chrome 5 spoke rims and put dual exhausts because the single exhaust that came stock, did not look right whatsoever but the rest of the car is stock so far.
Yea u pretty much nailed it. Also if you get the sick shift on the 6.4, the clutch will feel really heavy compared to driving a normal little stick shift car but you get used to it really quick.
2:21 -- Regarding tire size, you don't need to buy a Hellcat to get the wider tires. Starting with the SRT 392, they come with 275/40ZR20 tires on 20x9.5" wheels.
I would definitely agree with the tire issue, the factory rubber is far too skinny. And that's a beautiful car although It needs more rubber like RTlife said. I would also comment on your complaint of the size. it's not supposed to be a Mustang or a Camaro or anything else in that smaller category there really isn't a category that fits it at the moment. So it's a little unfair. I certainly get your visibility concern but there are very good videos to show to adjust your side mirrors properly to cover those blind spots and still not lose visibility. There are quite a few videos online, especially racing videos that will show you how to adjust your mirrors so that your blind spot isn't such a blind-spot concern for you. It really is a beautiful car and you should really enjoy it for what it is.
The Scat Pack comes with an available 275/40ZR20s with Pirelli P Zero Nero All Season Performance Tires with 20*9.5 inch Black Low Gloss Forged Wheels. You also get the Brembo 6 Piston brakes.
Self-Realized Men i am actually thinking about getting scat pack widebody instead of the mustang gt. How is the maintenance and the insurance for the boat? Ik the insurance will vary by the person but i want to get an idea of how it will be to own this boat
I have a 2015 challenger had 2 times where that C pillar blind spot has almost caused an accident if a car is to close to see in mirror but far enough back you cant see out your passenger window. The biggest flaw on the car
I'm getting a 2010 challenger SE and I'm getting it for fuel economy and as my first car. Not a lot of horses under the hood but it'll get out of its own way. I'm buying a rear spoiler for it with a backup camera just because in this day and age it's wholly necessary. If I do anything to modify it, I'll be trying to add efficiency and torque because everyone knows torque is what puts you back in your seat.
Your side view mirrors are supposed to cover your blind spots, not pointed at the side of your car. All non-commercial cars are required to have back up cameras iirc.
Angel Estrella actually took it back, didn’t get the deal I wanted on it. A shame on the dealership too for not going the extra mile for me especially me being in healthcare in the front lines of Covid-19
I test drove a 5.7 shaker, actually 2 of them. I ended up with the T/A 392 they were hiding. Although I was to young to have one, I am old enough to remember the cars of the late 60's and early 70's. This car reminds me of them. My dad had a 67 GTO and he always told me there are a lot of cars faster than his but none are as much fun to drive. My 392 is the epitome of this saying, it is an absolute blast to drive and yes there are faster cars, sadly some are mustangs. In closing you mustang owners that see this and post a jest, here's another philosophy the old man had. "You might beat me, but by god you'll have it to do"
There aren't many models of Mustangs that can take us....so I don't really know what you're saying. The new 5.0's are a good race but I haven't lost to one stock-to-stock.
@@johnleport9352 So basically anyone that reads your post should be a mind reader. You did not say your Challenger had work done on it and were acting as if your 392 was bone stock. Further, saying go up against a Mustang 500 really doesn't mean anything at all. You act as if a $100,000 Mustang with 769hp beating a Dodge Challenger with 485hp that costs $45,000 is some big revelation. If I put $55,000 into my Challenger I would eat that Mustang alive and I think you know that. Hell, I could put a whole lot less in and do it...so what? My post about Mustangs is 100% correct. For example, the Mustang GT at 450hp@410 pound-feet of torque doesn't get them there. It's a good race but I walked them everytime when I was stock. Addendum- I have been racing cars for well over 18 years. I am absolutely shocked at what the racing community has become today. Gone is the feeling of community especially with people driving under the same banner. At your age I expect more than a snide remark. Perhaps it is because I have been a GM guy all my life. Never once have I been treated poorly by my Chevy and Pontiac guys. You're not the only Dodge guy I have run into with a worthless attitude. I was hoping to have a decent conversation with someone who has been around since when this whole thing started. What a monumental waste of time. Good day.
@@Sinn0100 comment wasn’t intended to offend, just stating what is on here. I don’t compete professionally and never have. I’ve had muscle cars my entire life, Chevelle, Camaro, Corvettes, Mustang, Chargers and a Challenger probably missed a few, I don’t worry about foot pounds of torque or statistics I just drive them.
@@johnleport9352 Sorry man...it seemed like you were blowing me off and I've been getting a lot of that in the Dodge community. At any rate, I'm just like you in that I just love fast cars. I don't care what as long as she's stupidly fast. I don't race professionally but I'm always racing at my local track. The one place where we differ is I tend to get hung up on power and torque. As an example back in 2003 I was shocked Ford finally came out with a really fast Mustang that could take us F-body guys stock to stock. The 03 Cobra was absolutely legendary for its time and it caused me to build up my 2002 Firehawk Trans-Am to ridiculous proportions (for the time). I wasn't happy until I was walking them on a regular basis at the quarter mile. I also did this with my 1994 25th Anniversary Trans-Am. I'll tell you this the LS1 may have started out faster but nothing beats a real cast iron block like the GM 5.7L 350. That LT1 took everything I threw at it and was still begging for more. I finally bought a crate motor (another 350 LT1) and turned it into a 383 stroker because I was worried I was going to blow my original motor with matching numbers. That car became absolutely dangerous and I don't mean it in a good way. I was in my early 20's and was still learning the ropes. I got the fool idea that the cars stock suspension, breaks, ect...were just fine with 550hp. Until one fateful Saturday night I almost ate a concrete wall because the car didn't want to stop. I held it but I saw my life flashing before my eyes. Since then I sold the motor *383 and brought it back to near stock. She now pushes 350hp at the wheels and that's okay with me. I still have it too this day but the gas mileage is 10mpg at best and I have a Challenger now.
youre spot on about the tires man. Dodge messed up a bit by making those standard sizes. I have 245s on my A5 and it has just under 300bhp so theyre adequate. course the other issue dodge has with the high end Challenger trims is the drive shaft. its like they used a coffee stirrer or a sippy straw. Dodge needs to go back to the 2 Door Charger. Try to envision what a 71-74 style charger would look like with modern aesthetics.
I don't think the drive shaft is much of a problem with the Scat packs it's more of a problem with the hellcats. And ya a charger like that would look sick!
I agree with blind spots...when I drove this car home I kept saying I hate it....but eventually fell in love with this car .... most definitely something you have to get use to ....💎💎💎💎 Its perfect for me and my kids...I am a mustang girl and always will be but....those days are over.... Great video
Drop your rear tire pressur to low 20 lbs and you will hook up much better. If that dont work get the new michelin sport summer tires that are factory on the corvettes.
@@KCars I put some on a Chevelle with 755 hp LT5 supercharged engine.Second didnt hook up till i did the pressure drop to 25 pounds. But at 32 they still spun from a rolling start.
The Tulsa International airport just got in some brand new Dodge Challenger RT's (I fly into Tulsa from Dallas each week for work). Rented a red Dodge Challenger and absolutely fell in love with it. Ended up not flying home at the end of the week and drove the Challenger back to Dallas for the weekend. The one I was driving had the cloth seats, but the leather seats in this video are friggin' killer! I could not believe the power, and that "sport" mode was so much damn fun! I could not imagine what the Scat pack is like, or the Hellcat or Demon?! Damn!!
You got a lot of hate and criticism for this video - all of it is unneeded. I felt the review was balanced and appreciated your insight. So many people put you on blast for not owning the car, but should that really be a requirement for reviewing a car? Do we expect car industry news reporters to own every car they review? Of course not, that would be ridiculous. People need to chill.
i love the challenger almost got 2017 scat pk 6 speed daily driver but my heart was set for 300s which i bought fully loaded blk / white leather inside .jest turned 31thousand miles daily driver
I love the looks of the challenger, I think they just made the suspension to soft, the interior to quiet, and to comfortable. I just wish they made a stripped down version of it.
Great video, very accurate information regarding sight lines. I test drove mine and I could not believe how big the car truly is. Looking over the hood from driver seat, I describe it as looking across a football field. Again, the information in this video regarding the blind spot over right side shoulder is perfect, its terribly limited. I had to bump my passenger seat up to the dash just to see out the small back window. All in all, I absolutely love this car, and I use it as a daily driver. You just have to get used to the size.
Car isnt that big,its under 200 inches long 197 or so...My 68 Charger RT is about 1 foot longer and is wider.. Ford Taurus is longer and wider than a Challenger, many Audis,BMW,Mercedes are longer, wider and hundreds of pounds heavier !! Adjust your seat then you can see over the hood and out the window..I have no issues seeing out the window on mine.. As for spinning, well I grew up driving 60's and 70's cars and none had traction..My 68 Chrysler 300 would spin at 25 mph roll and never got traction off the line, same with my 68 Charger RT 440 always spun..I spun down the 1/8 th of a mile back in 1975 when the car was 100% stock !! All old car recorded times are off because of tire spin... Think the tires are not wide enough..old cars had 185 / 80 series 14 inch 195 75 series were the norm..205 60 series were considered wide treads ! Even 215 wide tread were the Widest tires back then and Bias Ply,thus the 0-60 1/4 mile time for all old cars are bogus !! Enjoy your car ! I have 87,000 miles on my 2015 Challenger Hellcat, zero problems !!
01trsmar I’m enjoying it man! And dang that’s probably one of the highest mileage hellcats out there! Looks like you love driving it and I don’t blame you at all!
1:20 you can just take off the headrest and if anyone comes along for a ride just put it back up. And if you can’t see at all you can just ask them if there is anything there. There’s no issue with that
Rocc on da blocc I wasn’t able to take off the headrest when I tried, seems like it only has two positions but it won’t actually come out, that would be a good idea though
+KCars - You are spot on pointing out how "huge" the Challenger is. To me that is the genius of the design. To me, everything is in porportion and it does not look huge going down the road.
+KCars - By the way I have chosen Chargers for my daily drivers as you recommended. I traded in the 2014 R/T for a nice 2018 5.7 Daytona. The Charger is perfect for me. Excellent performance, handling, gas mileage, runs on regular and is great for carrying golf clubs and luggage.
The blind spots are bad on the charger as well, but the chally is a little ridiculous. The real problem is the the seat latches. They will hang up, and the seats won't stay up until you get out of the car and finally find it's sweet spot.
Late to the party but just wanted to say this is a good video buddy. And damn I love that color and leather seats. Phew. Hopefully u got the windows black out. Just got a 2018 challenger scat pack. 61k miles on it. So no factory warranty but it’s in great shape. And u are 100% right with the tire spin. I got an auto tranny, looks like u do too. Already got a mustang piping me. I’m wondering if running it manual starting in 2nd gear would help with the spin? Cause the most spin occurs in gears 1-2. Prob best to spin tires to heat them then run manual for the actual race and start in gear 2. I need to read the manual and see if I have the launch mode.
Thanks! The automatics have launch control which has always spun the tires for me. Even on a roll it spun in 2nd gear until I got the 275 tires. Ended up getting Michelin pilot sport AS3 275s on all four and it hooked up perfect from a second gear roll
About the tires...I saw one video, a guy was testing tire brand on his 2005 model GT 500..he tested Mickey, Yoko and Maxxis...he found that Mickey was the most spinning, Maxxis a less spinning and Yoko was at the best at grip with less spinning!!
you forgot to mention to check for corrosion, lots of the challengers come as rust buckets already from the factory. My 12 year old chevy pick up has less rust on it than my 1 month old challenger. Didn't know that I had to lay underneath a brand new vehicle to check for corrosion before I buy it.........live and learn.
IS YOUR CAR THE "GO MANGO" COLOR? CAN YOU SHUT OFF THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS WHILE MOVING. TO ADDRESS THOSE TIRES THAT DON'T HOLD TRACTION, CAN YOU PUT ON THE 20 INCH TIRES THAT COME ON THE NEWER SCATPAK WIDE BODY CARS?
No the color is called torred. You probably can shut them off while driving but I haven’t tried to. And I think I’d need wider wheels in order to fit the tires that coke on the widebody cars
@@KCars I see so in order to use those same tires on wide body you would need a complete new set of wheels and tires = cost too much $$ otherwise you should have got a SPWB to begin with if they had them when you got your shaker challenger.
@@KCars LIKE YOU HAD SAID THE TIRES ON REGULAR SP ARE INADEQUATE AND CAR WILL SPIN EVEN WHEN ROLLING AT 30 TO 40 MPH. SPWB WOULD COST ABOUT $51,000 AND HOPEFULLY ELIMINATE THAT PROBLEM.
@@KCars FYI DODGE gives you a free , very nice metal license plate frame that reads 100,000 MILE CLUB when you reach 100,000, then 200,000, etc A fellow owner has 250,000 on his 10 Challenger!. He know has 200,000 frame. I take care of it, only took it down the 1/4 mile once at Sacramento raceway Park. Racing is bad for engines and tyranny. That's why the original 426 HEMI Challenger, 1970 had no warranty on motor. They knew they were being raced
Do you do your own oil changes and is it a pain to have to take the shaker off every oil change? If you could go back in time would not get the shaker because of the hassle with the oil change/shaker remove?
William Shaw I don't do the oil changes but I actually removed the shaker to install an oil catch can which I have a tutorial on, and I'd still get the shaker I just love the way it looks and it's really easy to take off
You should adjust the rearview mirror to accommodate the blind spot; instead of looking over your shoulder. In my experience, all cars have a blind spot. Some worse than others.....thanks for the video
My RT Plus Shaker 6 speed is smiles per mile, no complaints..... Just Mod the car you can afford if you don't want another loan, you can make the 5.7 Challenger crazy fast... But to each their own, Hellcats are sick...
Black Cash no not yet. My Evo needs some work so I have to dip into that pot of money . Plus my wife got really upset when I told her that I was getting a scat pack 😂. I may have to look at other cars just to keep the peace . Happy wife happy life.
Thanks for the information. That is a nice looking Challenger and I will definitely check out some more of your vids since I'm trying to decide between this and a Mustang GT
Hello. First of all - very helpful video. I currently drive BMW X5. I am thinking of getting a 2015 Challenger V6, 8-speed automatic instead of my SUV. Would you recommend this particular year of the car and this engine? In Europe it is hard to import bigger engines, like V8. Do you have a rough cost estimation of the maintenance of this engine and gearbox? Are they reliable? Thanks!
The 5.7 is faster than people think. Can definitely beat a scat pack off the line with the auto because it hooks up and rarely spins unlike the scat pack. The scat pack destroys it in any kind of roll race though. Much better for higher speeds and passing. 0-60 is the same though, in real life.
If you can hook up, you are two car lengths faster. 4.3ish. I'm at 4.9sh but I can hook it up consistently. I'd rather have a scat pack because it is really bad ass and sounds amazing, but I already bought the 5.7 and I don't race, so it's cool for me until I pay it off. Honestly I would have bought the scat pack if I could do it over, but I found the 5.7 is faster than I thought it could be. It's the auto that really makes it fast. The stick R/T is too slow for me though. I would definitely prefer the scat over the hellcat, because it is crazy fast already for 40kish. Who wants to pay another 20k for a quicker quarter mile?
So I read the title of this video, “Watch This Before Buying A Dodge Challenger”, and I’m like, too late I already bought one and love it!! Ok Now I’ll watch the video!!...lol. 😂
The new Challengers do look sweet. Oh, and be careful which engine you want to add performance to. Specific engines will readily accept a forced air upgrade but the 392 (I think it's the 392) needs a lot BEFORE adding a turbo or super/pro charger. Do your research FIRST!
Beautiful car! I can’t tell if that exterior color is Red or Go Mango. Can you confirm what it is? Also if it’s Go Mango, are those Go Mango seats? I don’t see those options available on the dodge site but I see Red.
Clear the blind spots with horsepower lol
Corridan Moffatt that’s also a good technique lol
Fuck yes
Yessiree
100% of the time it works everytime

There is no such thing as a perfect car. Just be happy with what you can afford.

Mine is perfect... For me ;) Chevrolet Camaro 1973 type lt, you can see it at my profile, cheers:)
Agreed when people say what type of car I want for my first one I just say anything that I could get around in
Its not the point of being perfect, its a matter of hazards, how long the car will as well.
It’s definitely a good looking car, I guess you would just have to get used to it if you wanted to daily drive it. Thanks for watching!
i’m surprised you’re not driving a FIAT
I love the size of my Scat Pack Challenger. Part of the reason I bought it was the fact that it's bigger than the Mustang/Camaro.
Joeysixtysix I agree the size makes it look more mean and aggressive
And for us older guys, ""More comfortable". ;-)
William Trost a Big car can be a pain in most cases
@@nicholasdickinson9955 i prefer a big car for my type of driving as i spend a lot of time on the interstate and dont live in a crowded city
Either way, I feel if you are a better driver than the mass majority of the people on the road then you can drive a challenger as easy as the other vehicles on the road
eunit08 well said, I agree
I came from driving a 2011 Camaro, and visibility in that was far worse. Even out of the front and side windows. You are SO right though, these cars must be driven differently. Just the size alone reminds me of some of those huge 60's and 70's cars. My parents had a 1973 Ford Galaxie 500. Google it and see for yourself how friggin huge it was. I used to drive it around town and friends would make fun of it saying that the cops from the show Streets of San Francisco used to drive one. Sadly, it was true.
Jimi Mack lol thats funny. That is pretty big

LOL....

Nyezaire Mclean you drive a girls car
It feels huge because you’re sitting not very far forward the rear axle, and the hood is about as long as a Mercedes GT
It feels big because it’s bigger than a Mustang or Camaro. It’s not a pony car. It’s more of a grand tourer, which is what I like about it. It rides better, and looks more retro and true to the original rather than futuristic as other retro rods appear.
Yes the Camaro and mustang are sports cars. This beast is a muscle 💪 car.
Your parents are really nice, or loaded.
Same what I was thinking.
Good credit
@Astral Eagle They aren't too expensive btw. It's around $30,000-$40,000. Hellcats and demons are the most expensive ranging from $70,000-$80,000

@Matthew Bacon what??? I thought they get big bucks
If you adjust your sideview mirrors properly you don't have to look back...If it's an issue then get blind spot monitoring.

The Scat Pack is the best bang for the buck, comfortable, tons of room, good mix of power & weight. Definitely need Cross Path detection though.
Rusty Zipper I agree
I don't know, I bought the T/A and it came with some pretty good upgrades compared to the Scat Pack. 275's (and yeah, they spin) on 9 1/2's, 6 piston front Brembos, Mopar CAI. Haven't regretted one minute, and the price is not that much difference that a Scat, but under the SRT.
Jimi Mack true, they’re all good cars just depends which options you want
Tiffany James thank you
Well-said - old-school wisdom, much needed.
I thought it'd be tougher but I drove a rental for about a week and it's actually pretty nice tbh. Good handling and for it being the base model even that one had a good jolt when you hit the gas.. I thought it'd be hard to see out the window but it wasn't.
These things are pretty quick and handle surprisingly well for how big they are. Glad you had a good experience!
That was a very informative and unbiased video, thank you. very enjoyable and well done.

The only flexing you'll be doing with this heavy boat is body flex
Man I’ve been waiting for that comment! I wanna flex with that car so bad
It's lighter so the handling is better. And instead of being a drag racer you can mod the suspension for vastly improved handling over the V8 models
I got mine for the fuel economy. It surprised me with the power and the mpg. Great car
My yellow and black RT gets 27 easy with MDS on the highway. You just have to keep your foot out of her.
My first car was a 73! It had a 225 slant six and I was always getting beat by VW bugs!

I’m late but how you liking it? I’m considering getting one atm
Very well said, really hope dodge doesn’t fall into the same trap that Ford has and soon Chevy. Thanks for watching!
305 is really all anyone needs.
Is the SXT the lowest trim level?
Will Yes.
Hahaha this is exactly what people say when they’re hurting from the inside for not being able to afford a scatpack or an SRT
Will -no that's the SE. The sxt is a more technology packed SE and then sxt plus is the more luxurious sxt.
Why would you never buy new again?
@@King-sp4oi the depreciation is insane on new cars... But I bought mine in 2015 so it could be a different story now.

I got an 11 RT manual for a daily driver in Cleveland and it’s great!! Lots of fun but tame enough to keep yourself from too many tickets and stay somewhat safe. Does good in snow too surprisingly
RT’s are definitely fun for a lot less money. Definitely a good middle ground. Thanks for watching!
I am going to buy the Dodge Challenge SXT plus Destroyer Gray in the summer time.
I daily drive mine. And when I get a Demon I will daily drive that too
Jon Mack please don’t 😂
I've had my 2009 titanium metallic Dodge Challenger SE for over a year now. I love the car so much. Brought mine for $8,500 with 128k miles (now has 140k). Everyone gives me shit for not getting a v8 but I'm not the type to tear ass or race anyone, I brought it for the cool and somewhat nostalgic look and design. The only mods I've done on my car was tinted windows and lights, chrome 5 spoke rims and put dual exhausts because the single exhaust that came stock, did not look right whatsoever but the rest of the car is stock so far.
nice! A lot of v6 challenger owners get made fun of for it being a v6, but as long as you like it that's all that matters

245's are a joke even on my RT - why they put them on a scat was weird. Nice job man
R/T Life ya I'm hoping to get some drag radials sometime. Thanks!
Don Glover I really do enjoy this car! I kinda like the size because it makes it look that much more aggressive!
When i got my hellcat. It really is a joke with the tires. Spinning over 60mph

I have a 2015 challenger had 2 times where that C pillar blind spot has almost caused an accident if a car is to close to see in mirror but far enough back you cant see out your passenger window. The biggest flaw on the car
mopar life yeah just gotta be extra careful and monitor your mirrors
*Since 2018, all stock Challengers come with the backup camera, even the SXT.*
All newer cars legally have to now I believe
I'm getting a 2010 challenger SE and I'm getting it for fuel economy and as my first car. Not a lot of horses under the hood but it'll get out of its own way. I'm buying a rear spoiler for it with a backup camera just because in this day and age it's wholly necessary. If I do anything to modify it, I'll be trying to add efficiency and torque because everyone knows torque is what puts you back in your seat.

@@Sinn0100 I didn't say anything about stock to stock...you did. Go up against a GT 500 and see what happens or something similar.
@@johnleport9352
So basically anyone that reads your post should be a mind reader.
@@johnleport9352
Sorry man...it seemed like you were blowing me off and I've been getting a lot of that in the Dodge community.
And ya a charger like that would look sick!
would you consider doing a video that breaks down the trims for us?
eTemplarHunter definitely! I always love hearing video suggestions!

I love the looks of the challenger, I think they just made the suspension to soft, the interior to quiet, and to comfortable. I just wish they made a stripped down version of it.
john sailor ya that would be awesome!
you must be a fan of the demon than
the V6 is the stripped down version
Love how he says just get the 6.4 instead of the 5.7 like it’s so easy 😂
SoCal Fishing _760 same😂
It was for him he spending his parents money 😂
Right rich bastards
Just save like a 5k Down payment and your monthly payment on a 6.4 won't be much different than on a 5.7.
In my Opinion you have to many opinions
Al Holme true
Al Holme 😂😂😂
I'n my opinion you're a dumb shit that can't spell and should shut the fuck up.
Very good points. I like the challenger. But the blind spots are not appealing!!
Sean Kimble thanks!
+1, the engine sound is most impressive ;-) You lucky to have such a car !
About the tires...I saw one video, a guy was testing tire brand on his 2005 model GT 500..he tested Mickey, Yoko and Maxxis...he found that Mickey was the most spinning, Maxxis a less spinning and Yoko was at the best at grip with less spinning!!
Ckryse S good info! I’ll keep that in mind
you forgot to mention to check for corrosion, lots of the challengers come as rust buckets already from the factory. My 12 year old chevy pick up has less rust on it than my 1 month old challenger. Didn't know that I had to lay underneath a brand new vehicle to check for corrosion before I buy it.........live and learn.
I wasnt aware that they come with rust from the factory, if they actually do then thats a serious problem lol
It would definitely be nice but the widebody challengers weren’t being made in 2016
@@KCars LIKE YOU HAD SAID THE TIRES ON REGULAR SP ARE INADEQUATE AND CAR WILL SPIN EVEN WHEN ROLLING AT 30 TO 40 MPH. SPWB WOULD COST ABOUT $51,000 AND HOPEFULLY ELIMINATE THAT PROBLEM.
U can ride boats on street? Damn we in future fellers
It's a great daily driver.
Suspension is supposed to be stiffer on an R/T.
I've had my R/T for ten years and 159,000 miles.
Agreed, thanks for watching!
@@KCars FYI
DODGE gives you a free , very nice metal license plate frame that reads
100,000 MILE CLUB when you reach 100,000, then 200,000, etc
A fellow owner has 250,000 on his 10 Challenger!.
He know has 200,000 frame.
I take care of it, only took it down the 1/4 mile once at Sacramento raceway Park. Racing is bad for engines and tyranny. That's why the original 426 HEMI Challenger, 1970 had no warranty on motor.
They knew they were being raced
That’s pretty interesting about the license plate frames, I didn’t know about that
Do you do your own oil changes and is it a pain to have to take the shaker off every oil change? If you could go back in time would not get the shaker because of the hassle with the oil change/shaker remove?
William Shaw I don't do the oil changes but I actually removed the shaker to install an oil catch can which I have a tutorial on, and I'd still get the shaker I just love the way it looks and it's really easy to take off
My SXT Plus has backup camera loud factory exhaust Harmon Kardon surround sound 16 speakers. Also has blind spot warning.
Interesting
Just subbed bro keep it up you don't want to end up like tall guy review
bay area415 thanks!
What happened to Tall guy review?
You should adjust the rearview mirror to accommodate the blind spot; instead of looking over your shoulder. In my experience, all cars have a blind spot. Some worse than others.....thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
but what if I want the shitty 1981 challenger with 90hp?
MostlyIrishCarGuy lol
it is still faster than the Vega and pintos from 1981
My RT Plus Shaker 6 speed is smiles per mile, no complaints..... Just Mod the car you can afford if you don't want another loan, you can make the 5.7 Challenger crazy fast... But to each their own, Hellcats are sick...
I’d much rather have smiles per gallon than whatever they are trying to push these days lol thanks for watching!
Beautiful car man.
Rick Bell thanks!
Due to the blind spots, Backup cam is standard with all the trims bro.
I’m struggling with the decision of buying one. My wife has an SXT and she would die if I bought an RT Scat pack which is what I want.
Rick Bell ya that’ll be a tough decision but it’s a lot of fun!
Rick Bell get that RT
Rick Bell so have you bought it?
Black Cash no not yet. My Evo needs some work so I have to dip into that pot of money . Plus my wife got really upset when I told her that I was getting a scat pack 😂. I may have to look at other cars just to keep the peace . Happy wife happy life.
I hope that you already bought it. Just do it.
Thanks for the information. That is a nice looking Challenger and I will definitely check out some more of your vids since I'm trying to decide between this and a Mustang GT
Mike Wastian Thanks!
Every car after 2014(ish) is mandated to have a rearview camera
It's the look I would buy one for!!!
Chris 001 good reason!
Roast the tires and go up to a 305
R/T IN BLACK that’s what I’m thinking about doing
RISE OF MUSCLE can u put 305 on stock rims
Thanks!
Viktor Georgiev I don’t really have any experience with the V6 models but I’m sure they are great cars and don’t need much maintenance
The 5.7 is faster than people think. Can definitely beat a scat pack off the line with the auto because it hooks up and rarely spins unlike the scat pack. The scat pack destroys it in any kind of roll race though. Much better for higher speeds and passing. 0-60 is the same though, in real life.
John Jones ya I agree, with wider tires, the Scat Pack could be a beast from a dig
I cant get my scat to hook up for sure.
John Jones
I'm deciding between mustang gt and rt challenger it's a tough decision.
lee hancock
U mean with stock tires?
I put blind spot mirrors on the side mirrors of my 2016 Dodge Challenger
Stephannie Burlew good idea
Good stuff man
Cajun W/a Hemi thanks!
Good car if you live on the west coast.....these things are always stuck in the snow come winter time
Good review!
Hemi Mike thanks!
So I read the title of this video, “Watch This Before Buying A Dodge Challenger”, and I’m like, too late I already bought one and love it!! Ok Now I’ll watch the video!!...lol. 😂
Sasha Nicole 😂😂😂
KCars Love your Challenger by the way!! 🤗
Sasha Nicole thanks!
for anyone who had a domestic economy car in the 80s your channel name made me cringe lol
Why don't you go look in the mirror and cringe the way everybody else cringe's when your ugly ass face enters the room.
The new Challengers do look sweet. Oh, and be careful which engine you want to add performance to. Specific engines will readily accept a forced air upgrade but the 392 (I think it's the 392) needs a lot BEFORE adding a turbo or super/pro charger. Do your research FIRST!
Yeah that’s what I’ve heard. Definitely safer to just get a hellcat instead of boosting a 392
I want one bad lol
Me too idk what one to get tho rt or sxt
@@mackhemi8986 rt
Beautiful car! I can’t tell if that exterior color is Red or Go Mango. Can you confirm what it is? Also if it’s Go Mango, are those Go Mango seats? I don’t see those options available on the dodge site but I see Red.
The color is called torred. Thanks for watching!
