BEFORE commenting about doing a VIN number search I recommend you watch the video till the end where I address that subject... ALSO 1 thing I did not mention is that a VIN search can cost money and these are free ways to check prior to spending money to confirm.
The easiest way to tell is to look at the 8th digit of the vin number. If it’s a T, it’s a 5.7/345. If it’s a J, it’s a 6.4/392. Unless somebody swapped the engine, that’s the easiest and quickest way to tell whether it’s an R/T or an R/T Scat Pack
Good video dude. I’ve had my 345 Challenger for a year now. But now I want a scat pack. The costs are too much for me to justify though. Meanwhile upbadging should be a felony.
Superchargers are dirt cheap, and the 6.4 only goes to 500hp without rebuilding the bottom end... one of the spike channels made hellcat power with a 5.7 hemi and a procharger
The back stripe isn't as reliable as some of the other methods. My scat doesn't have the back stripe. One of the best ways you can tell is if it's a 2020bor newer scat the infotainment screen will display srt on boot up and you will have the srt pages available on the main menu. That's something that can't be swapped out by anyone.
Great info man! And yes the rear stripe isn't foolproof but it's 1 way you can tell. You could get the stripe delete option if you got the shaker package so it's not on every ScatPack but the majority of them have it
Great observation! I think the shaker package may change the emblem although my 392 shaker still had the super Bee at startup. It doesn't help that they've made so many different versions! 🤦♂️
The only cars that came with a Bumblebee Stripe from the factory were Scat Packs optioned with the "Scat Pack Appearance Group" That was a package only available from 2015-2018. Dodge removed it after 2018. Price varied by year. If you got it on the Scat Pack Shaker, then it would delete the standard Shaker stripes normally found on them. Since 2019 and up, you can still get the Bumblebee Stripe and other stripes, but they are a $495 option.
The dealership in my city is selling a T/A challenger for 43k but it has 160 on the dash like it’s the 392 version which supposed be 180… glad I came across this video.
You might be able to get it a little cheaper. Maybe closer to 40 but they haven't changed as much since 2018 so I don't think it would be a huge difference. Check KBB to get an approximation of value
Really...we need a video for this! The scat pack badge on the side costs $10 on Amazon. Forget the F%$k'n badge, THE MOTOR WILL BE DIFFERENT! One has a 6.4 the other a 5.7. Why not just look under the hood!
Very good info! Another thing with the engine is the half covers from a scat pack can fit on a 5.7. You can still look at the engine and tell what it is. The intake manifold for the 6.4 vs 5.7 are visibly different. The 6.4 has a snoud that goes to the right while the 5.7 doesn’t.
Probably the best indicator your that looking at an actual Scat Pack is the Rumblebee motion graphic that displays in the middle of the electronic display above the steering wheel when you start the car. Even more reliable is the VIN number so maybe start with that vs throw it in at the end of the video? And THEN everything mentioned in this video...
Actually the graphic doesn't come on every single ScatPack. It's kinda like the stripe in the back - it's on most ScatPacks but not all. And when it comes to vin number, its not as easy to do that in Europe
Great video. However, on the Charger Scat Pack models, it says "392 Hemi" on the side and the Bumblebee insignia is on the rear, in the bottom left area of the trunk. Only on the Challenger is the Bumblebee insignia on the fender and rear spoiler.
i just showed my husband this video and I said lets get schwayz to come with us when we buy our scatpack he said good idea i said we live in south jersey I think you live in utah by your license plates....But your video is very informative were gonna take notes when the time is right to go buy one what do you think is best in your opinion used or new the dealerships around here 2021 are going for upper fortys to low fifties. Any input would be appreciated thanks
Haha I appreciate that! Glad you found it helpful! As for whether you should buy new or used - it's tough to say in this market. Sometimes you'll find new is cheaper than used but most of the time I'd recommend buying a slightly used stock one with all the options you want. Youll likely find some savings as compared to buying one new. It just depends on what the market looks like when you are looking to buy
Im planning on buying a scat pack this year, but I want it red. I was thinking maybe I can go to a dealer and order it with my specifications. Is that not possible?
You definitely can. You can custom order from the dealer but it usually takes about 4 months to get the car and pricing may get tricky because dealership incentives vary month by month.
I had a 2015 Challenger Scat Pack manual transmission 6.4 and now I am driving a 2020 Mustang GT with Roush Supercharer Stage 2. I telling you the Scat Pack has more low end torque than my Mustang supercharger. That 6.4 move that heavy car like nothing. Is really amazing engine. Is not replacement for displacement.
Couple added points that are right there with your points, when you start the car up, the Scatpack has the Bee Logo just like your Hellcat has its logo. Can't easily change that as it is software related. I think Lockpick or some other hack can change it, but that's a step further than most dealers will go. Also, the infotainment menus, not just the screen size, and the buttons for Drive Modes and Launch Control will be absent on most if not all regular R/T's, not 100% on that.
Hello bro I love the way u explain… I have a question, Is there any differences in R/T challenger models from 2017 till 2023 by the engine and the design from inside???
Much appreciated man! No, there's not a significant difference. There will be some small changes in the options and perhaps the appearance of certain trim pieces but the engine is the same (5.7L Hemi) and the interior design has been unchanged since 2015.
its very hard, there are a couple of decent crypto-stablecoin based savings accounts i used, one on binance holds up to 2000 usdt coin at 7% apr if youre into your cryptos have a look at it :)
that scat pack bumble bee tail stripe is not standard with the scat pack. it is an option that needs to be added and does not typically come with a shaker package. i had to custom order my scat pack shaker to get that tail stripe. i saw a lot of base model scat packs on the lot with no tail stripe at all. that scat pack appearance package that comes with the tail stripe will also come with the scat pack splash screen with the Bee doing a burnout and flashing the 6.4L symbol on the screen around the smoke. Also, between 2015-2018 the scat pack base model wheels were the same as the standard R/T with 245 tires... you had to get the dynamics package to get the 6P brembos and hellcat wheels with 275s. i noticed you didn't cover whats actually under the hood. the standard R/T has a plastic engine cover that says 5.7L Hemi
I'm guessing you didn't watch the full video 😂 I mentioned engine cover in the video and that the scat pack stripe is not on every vehicle BUT the majority of them come with it
What about the Brakes? Scatpacks come with Brembo’s I’ve never seen an RT with Brembo’s but maybe that’s an option. My RT certainly does not have them.
Good question. I don't believe the brembos are labeled on the ScatPack so it might be hard to tell from the outside what kind of brakes are on the vehicle
You can get 4 piston Brembos on both the V6 GT model & the 5.7 RT with the "Performance Handling Group". It's really rare to see them like this as 99.9% of the dealers don't order the GT's or RT's with this option. Both cars come standard with 2 piston brakes.
@@ramhistorymaker must be a newer model year thing because previous years were not labeled. My 392 ScatPack shaker had brembos but they weren't labeled. Also the widebody is an easy way to tell between RT and ScatPack because RT does not come with widebody so you don't even need to look at brakes if you are looking at a widebody
Shouldn’t really drive up the price I bought a 2015 R/T last week With the scat pack stage one and two done prior and the price was consistent with all RTs around my area
I'm guessing you didn't catch the end. Carfax isn't as widely used in Europe as it is in the state's. Also you have to pay for that whereas these are free ways to check before moving forward to pay for the Carfax.
What about the seats? Iv seen seats that say r/t and seats with the bee on them and seats that have nothing on them but all were in rt scat packs. Is there a correct seat or are there internal trim levels like Chevy lt1 2 and 3?
I’m in the market for a 22 scat pack and I’d like to know if the Luxcare Pac that the salesman is trying to add on the deal is worth it? He states that the dealership puts it on all of their higher end vehicles to protect the exterior, interior and undercarriage. Sounds like something I need to opt out of. Any help is appreciated. Oh the package is an added $2995
Based on what you've explained I'd say it's likely just a way for the dealer to make extra money. Unless they are wrapping the entire vehicle with paint protection film then it doesn't sound like it's worth it. Even the best ceramic coatings are only 1k-1.5k.
@@SchwayZ thank you for replying and this is exactly my thoughts on it as well. I’m going you opt out of any protection plan. I’ve never had a vehicle that needed it and I can get it ceramic coated for this just as you suggested!
Is there a dealer you recommend in Utah? I am looking at ordering the Challenger SRT Hellcat. I was just curious if there are any dealers sell at msrp or if dealers are marking up? Thanks
It's been a while since I inquired about challenger prices with local dealers. I had to go out of state to find mine when I picked up my hellcat 2 years ago. I'd give the south salt lake location a call and ask them whether they markup vehicles after ordering. I think honest dealers are honoring MSRP if you order through them but the monthly incentives (if any) are hard to honor because dodge can change those monthly. Perhaps have them provide a written guarantee that they will not markup the vehicle upon arrival.
Not always. You can get both the V6 GT model & 5.7 RT with 4 piston Brembos with the "Performance handling Group". Rarely see them, but it's possible. 99% of dealers don't option these models with that package. But its possible.
Actually it depends on whether you have the ScatPack shaker or regular ScatPack. They have changed that over that years but definitely something to double check
Well this is a video discussing a "Scatpack" so not sure why I wouldn't say the name of the car...That's like saying you'll take a shot every time somebody says "1st down" in a football game. It sounds like you are just looking for an excuse to drink lol
Me and my cousin recently went to a dealership cause they were advertising a scar pack so I went with him cause he knows nothing about cars so we get there and instantly I want to leave cause they just pulled out this sxt and both the dealer and my cousin was genuinely confused cause they just thought scat pack means it looks a certain way and has 4 doors they didn’t understand that there are different engines there was no problem with my cousin having an sxt he didn’t care about cars like that but the problem was the dealer thought they had a scat so they was selling the sxt for the price of a scat 😂😂
Ok good video but going to say 1 next time your showing the difference between packages have the car your talking about 2nd easiest thing to do is look under the hood easy fix
I'm guessing you didn't watch till the end.. Carfax isn't as widely used in Europe as it is in the state's. Also you have to pay for that whereas these are free ways to check before moving forward to pay for the Carfax.
@@scatpacked7716 wrong. From 2015-2018, only Scat Packs that had the “Scat Pack Appearance Group” had the Bumblebee startup. Regular Scats & the T/A 392 had the plain “Challenger” startup. Same as the other models. Shaker cars without the Scat Pack Appearance Group had the “Shaker” startup screen. If they had the package, then they got the bee. Dodge removed this package after 2018. Starting in 2019 and up, that’s when things changed a bit. So standard or Widebody Scats now have the Bumblebee startup. The T/A 392 still has the “Challenger” startup. 1320 has the “Angry Bee” startup And Shakers still have the “Shaker” startup.
Another easy way to tell is that the 6.4 Hemi block is painted orange. If you look behind the belts with a flash light you will see the painted orange block.
Has nothing to do with upbadging. Europe is a totally different market and they don't always disclose vin numbers or trim information on their listings. And if you're buying from a far distance away when you can't physically see the car which is more common in today's market - this information is very helpful. Just because you don't understand doesn't mean it's bad content

I've actually made a video about that
ruclips.net/video/Pa0QfWNS7Lo/видео.html
I’d just run the vin and numbers on the motor
i found a dodge challenger rt 2022 for 50000 its a v8 hemi with a mddvv engine do you think this is a fair price im so confused please get back to me
Seems a bit high even for a new model. A brand new RT should start at 38 so even with options it should be below 50k unless it's fully equipped
Fully fully equipped ones actually stickered for more than that
I'll do a tequila shot every time this guy says "ScatPack" for the whole video. See you in the hospital.
Then stay away from that dealer
Ok good video but going to say 1 next time your showing the difference between packages have the car your talking about 2nd easiest thing to do is look under the hood easy fix
My 2014 Dodge Challenger is rusting out behind the doors. Five year rust warranty up. Buyers beware. Complained on Car Complaints. Dealer no help.
Two things, 1.They all look great. 2. They all cost too much.
Should be the engine
I'm guessing this guy didn't look at the brakes or the engine
Just build yoiur own hp, that way you can explain whats under the hood and not have a loud slow heavy car.
Can’t you just look up the VIN
I'm guessing you didn't watch till the end.. Carfax isn't as widely used in Europe as it is in the state's. Also you have to pay for that whereas these are free ways to check before moving forward to pay for the Carfax.
if youre searching online a lot fo the time you cant even see the vin on european sites
Just look at the dash when u start it.
Scat pack has a bee doing a burnout
Not all of them do. Depends on package. Also depends on year. There's a lot of variables
@@greatwill5425 from 2016 on they do
@@scatpacked7716 wrong.
@@greatwill5425 wrong look at my original statement
I said scat packs have it on start up
Just like mine does
@@greatwill5425 not to mention if someone buys a car and does not look under the hood. That's on them.
you dont have an ugly face stop but your car is gorgeous we are on the market for a scatpack what is the round about price for one
Haha thank you! I think in today's market you're probably looking in the low 40s
@@SchwayZ thank you
Called vin #
Why not just open the hood?
Why not just watch until the end of the video?
A real dodge dealership wouldn’t change emblems to sell anything bro.
You can't always buy from a dodge dealership bud. There are thousands of independent dealerships out there
I wouldn't buy a performance car from an independent dealership
Lmao they don’t remove cause they don’t like it it’s cause they don’t wanna get jacked by we all know who
This guy for real ???
No I'm imaginary
If a person can't tell the difference between 5.7 , 6.4 , 6.2. That mean they shouldn't be buy the vehicle. Bottom line .
First open the hood and see
Another easy way to tell is that the 6.4 Hemi block is painted orange. If you look behind the belts with a flash light you will see the painted orange block.
Great advice!
pop the hood
Watch the full video
usually your contents are worth watching but this is good video for someone with IQ level less than 70 ,even a blind person can figure out up badging!
You're making a big mistake buying a used car sight unseen
U can badge anything bro I think this kid just wanted us to see his car 🚗 Boooo
I said the same thing in the video bud. Just another stupid comment 🤦♂️
Just open the hood
