Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 3 is the brand new James Gunn, directed film and the latest in the Marvel cinematic universe. Chris Pratt returns as star. Lord, Gomorrah, Nebula, Drax, Groot, Rocket, Mantis, and the whole crew are back again for another adventure. This one closes the trilogy out. Did it have a good balance? Does it fall into the same pit that the latest marvel movies have? Or is it a good ending to the trilogy? Kristian harloff gives his non-Spoiler review of the new film.

You just made a ton of young people go look up Zoobilee Zoo, it was my little brother's favorite so at 12 I had to watch him while he watched it. Just gave me so many flashbacks, thanks good sir for the walk down memory lane.

Very interesting that a lot of people rewatch certain movies like GotG 2 and Age of Ultron, and they sing a different tune.
This is why I think every MCU movie or show, needs to be watched at least twice.
movies, yes, shows are total garbage. The only show that was okay surprisingly was the miss marvel one but only because it hit it's young girl target market and the actress was likable despite the meh script. I saw it with my step daughter, and she really liked it. For that reason alone i will say that one show was okay. the Hawkeye one was sort of okay too because at least the actress that was to be the new hawkeye was also likable and the character had a lot of flaws and personal issues that she had to overcome. they also spent enough time with her back story to make her not so Mary Sue because it did show her learning and practicing with a bow for years before the story started. again i saw that with my step daughter and she liked it as ell.
@Gabriel I actually enjoyed all of the shows so far...some more than others. Definitely flaws with some of them...but enjoyable for me.
Nebula really was one of my favorites in endgame. She really grew in that movie. The beginning g of the movie with Tony and her was just a heart breaking moment.
I'm so excited for this movie! This is a Gunn movie that happens to take place in the MCU - hope he gets the credit he deserves. This movie has me even more pumped for Superman Legacy now.

I don’t think Marvel has returned to form, this is just Guardians and James Gunn’s magic. So glad it didn’t disappoint, it’s my fav branch of the MCU (well of Marvel in general ever since Annihilation).

Couldn't agree with you more Kristian. The first Guardians is in my top 4 favorite MCU films. This one is neck and neck with Vol. 1. After seeing this I can't wait to see what James does with not only DC, but with Superman. Great review man!

Every section with Rocket was terrific. When the movie stuck to its more serious tone, I was all aboard. My problem was it was a very uneven mixture of serious tonality with comedic moments that, for me, didn’t land. I also don’t think this needed to be 150 minutes long. I feel that if this was trimmed down and more focussed with one specific tone this could’ve been gangbusters. The emotional core of this film is superb, and that’s where it really shines.
Adam warlock is one of my favorite characters in marvel and is a huge deal in marvel. I was afraid this would be a watered down version.

Just watched it my only real gripe was the sound track was track and I’m not one of those that comments on every soundtrack but given its a gotg movie It has to be said. Also when does the spoiler review with Coy and Winston so excited to hear you guys to deep dive into this one😅

Zoobilee Zoo, lol. I’m sure that was intentional, or James Gunn didn’t have the budget to CGI hundreds of townsfolk. I liked that it looked like they were costumes/makeup and not CGI.

You've been pretty hard to please when it comes to MCU movies as of late, so if you're giving this one 4.8 out of 5 Schmoes, then it must be something special. I'd go see it anyway, but I'm glad to hear high praise from you. Sounds like this is the movie to get the MCU back on track.

Just watched the movie here in PH. Story is Good and Rich. The movie has some serious and emotional scenes which is good. James Gunn knows where to put the jokes too.

Do you guys remember when we actually wanted the crossovers that grow the MCU? I guess it did run it's course, though.
I don't mind seeing it if needed, but it doesn't need to be in every movie.
EDIT: Okay, not sure what happened to my sentence and why it disappeared... : I too think the HE should have been more cold and calculating than yelling.

What do you think will happen if DC ran its course successfully and all main characters met their satisfying conclusion; what can you do with DC without Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman? can you build something with only the Flash and Cyborg? that's where we are today with Marvel. The fact that of the previous 5 films, only one commercially flopped is insane, and even that one opened with 225 mil globally and came close to 500 mil, in a franchise that peaked with 620 mil pre-pandemic during the Avengers years. 15 years dominating the industry.... will we move on?
Movie did such a great job throwing people for a loop 😂 everyone thought at least one was gonna die but yet each one has new arc which is insane to think about 👍
I was not a fan of the Christmas special. And thought this movie would be just another comedy that is not for me. But you've now heightened my expectations for this to be an actual good movie.
Sounds like a Phase 3 movie snuck into Phase 5 somehow

Darn it your description of Adam Warlock being sidelined makes me so sad - that is one of the characters I really wanted to see brought to life because he’s so interesting in the Infinity saga. That sucks
That being said, I absolutely loved Peacemaker - and from your emotional description, there’s a high chance I will love this movie too. I’ll just have to pretend it’s Adam Warlock as a teenager 😂

I agree with you that this film is separate and can’t be the basis to say if Marvel is back. Really think The Marvels later on in the year needs to hit financially, critically and with the audiences to get back on track and move everything forward again

With all the good reviews, this should make a lot of money and if it doesnt it will be safe to say that Marvel is in deep trouble, Will this movie make money?
Chop a couple of hundred million off the top for for all of the people waiting for it to stream on Disney+ in 3 months.
All these movies get good early reviews and then end up not being so great, so I’m going to keep my powder dry here. And that’s not to single out Kristian, it’s just the way things have gone.

Guardians 3 proves that Marvels problem is it’s directors and scripts
so stoked for this movie . still remember the first time I was watching the guardians of the Galaxy volume one in the theater
the guardians story arc is probably my favorite MCU arc overall. I agree with you as far as it's definitely a more comedic series compared to other marvel projects. Im personally really excited for this movie Gunn has said in the past that rocket is the secret protagonist and that the 1st movie was about the mother the second the father and the third would be the self. Im excited to see how everyones story wraps up especially rockets story. Im happy that your saying this movie is kinda in its own bubble and not trying to connect to the mcu
Definitely excited that this puts the bow positively on the Guardians trilogy, but leaves me wondering if there will be now pressure on Secret Invasion and The Marvels to deliver as well and push Phase 5 in a more positive light, or if it’s unfair and these next two entries should do what they can do on their own accords and hopefully it goes well.
I just hope those are hits and not misses
Marvels is very very unlikely to be anything more than a erage at best, but it is most likely going to be yet another woke SJW agenda shoved down your throats kind of mess, that will scare more people away than it attracts! And i'm not talking specifically about Brie Larson and her checkered past with the audience, i'm talking about the staff of this movie in general...many of them share their views in their woke agendas, so i doubt anything positive is gonna come out of it! At most this move is probably going to be praised for it's technical stuff, costume designs, make-ups and maybe sound and score...but things like writing, directing, scriptplay etc...not expecting it to be good, even acting is going to be sub-par! (You can already tell from trailers...)
But Secret Invasion on another hand has slight chances to escape negativity (at least to a large degree enough to hurt MCU's reputation and affect monetary income due to bad wom!)
Anything in general is that is trying to be woke just for the sake of it - is destined for negativity! It is a natural outcome of such practices and is of no fault of the audience! Yes some of us regular folks can sometimes be too harsh of critics and i admit it isn't always warranted, but in case of forced woke agenda - the people who push it will never be the ones with truth on their side, because that's not how it works! You cannot expect to make money of something if you deliberately alienating the same potential type of demographic, that brings you that said money, that is bad for the industry! Which is main reason i'm so skeptical about Marvels! It doesn't know what it wants to be and the fact, that there is an inner conflict within the studio between Brie Larson and her co-stars is already an alarming sign for what's to come! She is very toxic person not only for the audience, but also for her co-stars and other stuff it would seem!
Delaying everything would improve the quality
I don't get why people are all of a sudden hating on Marvel, Marvel has always had hits & misses from the very beginning.. maybe it's because we live in such a bandwagon culture nowadays, people are so afraid of having their own opinion & jumping on a hate train is much cooler😂fckin doinks.
They act like they won't watch anyway. It is easy to over criticize what is very successful. Nothing new really.

This is interesting. I just watched Dan Murrell's review of this movie, and he said pretty much the exact opposite of everything Kristian said point-for-point. This is definitely one that I'm going to have to watch for myself, which is what I prefer to do anyway. Can't wait, though!

And he said it’s sensitive to him and prefaced that, if you don’t have a problem with it that’s fine. It might be an issue for ore casual MCU fans especially those with kids and I’m glad he highlighted it instead of gushing over the movie because it’s MCU and a bit better than average. It’s all opinion at the end of the day

Superhero movie Genre is basically over. The ship is sinking. Once all the mains are gone its over. Same thing happens in the comic books. Once the mains are gone the sales drop. Mark my words.

Personally I feel like the MCU never left they just haven’t been perfect. But I do agree that Marvel needs to be more consistent. If guardians of the galaxy 3 is great then the next 4-5 MCU project needs to also be great💯💯
