That was actually pretty funny
He never misses the chanse to insult Rooker in some way, i love him.
No matter what happens I can have the guardians trilogy on my shelf for the rest of my life to enjoy whenever I want. This is the best trilogy in the MCU.
Also Captain America trilogy ❤❤🔥🔥
I’d pick the cap trilogy first. Then gotg 💯
@@Dilly_Dil1y 1st cap american movie was the best but the whole gotg trilogy edges it for me
@@Dilly_Dil1y
Nah.
Cap 1 was ok.
Cap 2 winter soldier is the best MCU movie.
Cap 3 is doodoo.
@@pepeedge5601 civil war is doo doo ? that's crazy
One thing I can say about the end of the movie where they’re all dancing is it genuinely just seemed like everyone on set was having fun, and knowing it was James and Sean just dancing makes it so much better
in movies i generally dont like those sort of scenes because they feel like the cast breaks character to do it.
but with Guardians, the way it was done feels natural. its entirely in character and that makes it really great.
Vol 3 is probably my favorite MCU movie, never felt so many emotions while watching a movie 😭
it’s really good!
How did you already see it?
@runningisfast3432 a lot of people were able to see it at the LA premiere.
When did you see it? And why are you repeating Marvel talking points?
@@Star_Joker The same people tend to parrot Marvel's PR-derived talking points. The film is going to underperform and lose money.
"i felt bad & didn't want to kill Rooker" but killed him off right away in the suicide squad LOL
😅😅😅
Doesn't mean that can't bring him back else where
yknow..he feels bad but it's stronger than him...
sometimes you dont want to do something but thats just naturally where the story goes.
and sure. maybe you can write in a happy ending for everyone but its a risk as to weather that detracts from the power in the story.
what it did in vol. 2 gave character growth for both Quill and Rocket. which doesnt really happen with Gamora being the one.
"i can only afford to lose one friend today"
I'm really glad that Gunn generally approves of what the other Marvel films did with the Guardians. I know there's a quote from him about not liking some of the choices in IW, but they seemed like minor things. The advancement of Gamora, Nebula, & Rocket's story we see in IW/EG seemed to really vibe with what Gunn wanted to do in Vol 3.
I know he didn’t like that they brought back Starlords helmet and rockets. Because Peter had those break in GOTG 2.
@@UGLYSQUID Yeah, because a bored Rocket for five years during the blip totally wouldn't just.... fix them. What a strange nitpick from Gunn haha
@@Flismz Guardians 2 pre-dates Infinity War. But, yeah, Rocket could have easily fixed any broken gear.
@@Flismz I think it’s more he intentionally destroyed them because he didn’t want to use them in vol. 3, which he didn’t. Obviously in universe Peter could’ve gotten a new set a number of different ways
Gamora is the best character in Infinity War, in my opinion. Watching her scenes with Thanos for the first time in Infinity War was such an enthralling experience.
Her eyes when she knew that he truly loves her. It hurts knowing that just before she got thrown off the cliff by the father who genuinely cared about her. That’s a wowy f wow 🤩
@@Moqbelsaggar Zoe Saldana is brilliant!
Yeah idk about all that
_Gamora is the best character in Infinity War, in my opinion. Watching her scenes with Thanos for the first time in Infinity War was such an enthralling experience._
Absolutely. I love the fake out fridging as well. You think Gamora is killed only to advance the story for Thanos. Little do you know that she will come back and effectively *Avenge* her own death. She's the ultimate Avenger in that sense.
It's really when she switches sides and saves Nebula that they are able to stop - 2014 Nebula from getting the Gauntlet. Thanos last message from Nebula was that she found the Gauntlet. He doesn't know - Gamora has turned against him - *because* of what he did to her, and that's his downfall.
Her story between Gunn, M&M and the Russo's is just beautifully done.
A part of the frustration with recent MCU is just in the realization that they set a storytelling standard they haven't been able to live up to since.
Look at how they have recently failed Wanda, Strange, Kang, Scott, Janet, Hope, Cassie, even SpiderMan was turned into a whiny emo magic boy Jr., who runs to the wizard to solve his problems and ends up getting his Aunt May killed. Parker would never have done this. Writing ain't easy.
@Summer Tyme I disagree with your last few points. The writing in phase four is exceptional for the most part, and Marvel is making extremely creative and fresh stories lately. There's a lot of MCU projects in the past couple of years that are better than anything from phases 1-3 from a storytelling perspective, in my opinion.
I really like how human, humble and wholesome Gunn is and how he injects that dose of humanity in everything he makes. Truly an admirable person.
Best MCU trilogy. All killer, no filler.
I totally agree!!
Facts
HANDS DOWN!!!
Cap's is better. GOTG2 is one of the weakest MCU movies.
I really like Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. She has become my favorite out of the Guardians now.
Her arc is THE BEST EVER, literally so underrated
From endgame and on, her story is amazing.
*SPOILERS*
Yeah! She shows more personality and she is more cooler and she grew much as a hero that when she was getting “killed” the town of Knowhere started begging Adam to stop beating her up
I wanted Quebula.
@@xSGTxPEPPERx We Need Quebula
4:39 Well this explains why Nebula is one of my favorite characters now. She was one of his favorites.
there you go!
She was by far the best part of Guardians 3 IMO.
That outer space scene in the first movie looks so magical to me. Shooting it underwater gave it an ethereal feeling. It's the wavy silhouette in his irises that did it for me.
I hope Chris and Bradley return as Rocket and Starlord. I obviously want the rest to return but Dave and Zoey already said their done with Gamora and Drax so that’s out the window but I still have hope for my 2 favorite Guardians Rocket and Peter
Agreed. Peter Quill and rocket raccoon are the best characters in the Guardians. I really loved the OG gamora. Not so much the post Infinity war gamora. She's lost all her heart. But we know from the movie Star-Lord will return
Rocket has his own threads in the comics.
Man, it's just perfect rn. I can't imagine the guardians without all of them together
Zoe say that she doesn’t mind being recasted in the MCU as long as her Character Gamora continues to appear more.
@@duncancurtis5108 Rocket isn't even from GOTG.
Star Lord and Gamora are my favorite MCU couple by far.
which gamora?
@@wellington66440 when gamora?
@@santa1563 'when' too but she's not just gamora from the past. She's a complete different person from a different universe in the multiverse, right?
@@santa1563 Why Gamora?
Same sad ending for them though. Original Gamora that is
I feel like if they ever do a new guardians film, I can see it working but it absolutely needs to be differentiated from James version. I can see it working if they do their own thing, and James literally said he would love to see that! I think seeing different directors and writers takes on the Guardians of the Galaxy team would be pretty interesting.
It’s so funny to hear James Gunn say he was afraid of killing Michael Rooker in this film, when in both movies he’s made before and after Guardians (Super and The Suicide Squad) he’s had him play a character that does end up dying. It’s wholesome to think that they’re still so close even when he’s had him brutally killed so often.
I recently met Rooker at comic con and he was joking and said he enjoyed dying because then he makes them (the studio) pay him extra [for dying]. Not sure if it's true, but it was definitely a funny story.
Guardian of the galaxy vol 3 is one of my new most favorites mcu movies I love this one it was so amazing and emotional
These two have a bromance we never knew we needed 😂
The trilogy is fantastic. And you know something is amazing when you see the third movie of a trilogy enhance the first two in a fantastic way. These movies are my MCUs top movies. Losing James Gunn will echo throughout the MCU. God speed James Gunn. 🙏 Bravo!
Your question about Pratt coming back as starlord oufff! You made him sweat a lot 😂 He couldnt tell what he really think near Gunn. What a nasty question man! 😂
James Gunn is an absolute genius
James and Chris are great.
It is cool James is promoting the film. He is such a cool guy, as he can be like forget this I am co-CEO of DC I don't need to do this. That just isn't how James roles. James, I love that guy!
If he signed a contract with Marvel that included promotion, he has to do this. And his contract likely has this exact kind of language.
Dude cares
@@BrandonDavisBD I know. Part of what makes him great.
@@Chicken_Little_Syndrome but he didn't do it for the others. I think this was him saying good bye to the franchise and the fans.
Good guy James gun saving Pratts answer: yeah buddy, its ok for you to keep doing it
tbf, he made a case about how James Gunn was the only one that could do vol. 3 justice and given what we got, he was right.
but James Gunn did leave the Guardians in a state where a new Team could forge forward if they wanted without it needing to be him at the Helm necessarily.
I would like to see starboard and Gamora back together somehow
Vol 3 is brilliant
Great questions and a great interview
Great interview!
James Gunn offers the best chance for some kind of cinematic Marvel/DC crossover event...or at least a cameo of some kind. Something like Groot in the background of DC movie.
They’ve kinda already done something like your Groot example. In The Eternals, they specifically mention Superman. Not quite a cameo, but still pretty big since Marvel and DC are competing companies.
@@What.99 but even then, there have been a number of times in the comics where there was major character cross overs.
the only real problem with the movie universes is getting a contract that works for both.
the secondary problem is the DCU is no where near the caliber it needs to be in both continuity and its quality to be bridged to the MCU.
Maybe James Gunn can fix that part but its something that would kinda require another 10 years worth of ground work on DC side. its basically playing catch up.
maybe they can cut the time down with quantity but that doesnt fix the problem of quality which its lacking.
Cool questions, BD!
Super stoked for this movie!
appreciate you my friend!
It's INCREDIBLE! A PHENOMENAL Cinematic MASTERPIECE!!
I love this channel. So much positivity every Wednesday ❤

I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE COORDINATES NUMBERS MEAN, JAMES. I’ve been waiting 9 YEARS. IN AZKABAN. Seriously, if he doesn’t reveal it by the 10th anniversary (assuming someone hasn’t figured it out yet), I WILL find a way to hound and harass this man into telling us!!!! (Respectfully, of course. I love Gunn dearly)
Great questions from interviewer and great answers
Hats off to james gunn and chris pratt.

I was curious if that final Easter egg from Vol 1 had been found!
Whats the Easter egg?
@zechariahlockwood the Easter eggs are the letters and numbers when they show the names of the planets or places
this will be the first and last movie I spend money on in a loooong time.
God please get everyone back and make a vol 4 a so much good story left to tell
This is why the Guardian movies are SO good. These two a couple of fun loving goobers 😂
They did it right. Very Respectable. no joke.

Tom Holland should be the one to reveal the final Easter egg

with how close they seem to be, at least here, i wonder if chris pratt will join the cast of "actors who appears in james gunn movies"
Man, I HOPE so!! SURE can't get enough of Chris Pratt!! He's AMAZING!!
Bro give me a Disney plus show bout star lord as a bartender on earth at the villan bar with like some superhero adventures
I’m just a viewer and of course if it was up to me and I think many people I would love 6 more movies directed by James Gunn. But realistically I hope we still get more guardians stuff. But I don’t think it has to be in the form of their solo movies. I think and hope marvel in the next few phases of the MCU really push the cosmic storyline and make it the focus and I think it would be really good if the guardians popped up here and there. Even a solo movie can still work. Get more Adam warlock. Would be a great way to introduce nova (which they have to at some point). But it needs to be done really well. And I think that’s possible. I would say the main sources of comedy was through drax, Peter and Mantis and with them being going (maybe not Chris Pratt) a new director won’t need to rely on that type of comedy. Obviously I think the Guardians movies need to be more light harder but seeded with emotion but it doesn’t have to copy Gunns master piece
Chris went full Walter White in Fly there; "I've lived too long."
The Easter egg is probably a code that spells out “this is the Easter egg”
Just tell us the Easter egg. He said he would years ago.

“Why did I live?”
James gunn is a sick man
Yeah hes sick 🔥
Why would Michael rooked aka yondu be doing living in a tent? Isn’t he rich?
No point continuing GOG without all 5 original characters. Could have done so much more with "Quinn" Gamora characters.
Ya I feel the same but not everything ends happy. Still a great film. I think a star lord solo movie with Gamora would work but Zoe seems done.
From 0:50 to 1:20 😳
Chis basically says ''Dude, isn't it fucked up how I valued finishing the movie more than my own life''
And James was basically like: ''Yeah, and that's what I like about you'' and then completely misses the point.
It's a joke
It's a joke they keep ripping off each other; Like James Gunn opening an interview with saying how hard it was to work with actors with big egos like Chris or Chris saying he wants to work with a better director.
I tried to watch guardians 1 but guardians 3 is just so good…never watched a trilogy and the last one is the best
Nothing changed in volume 3 so they can make 4,5,6
Jim didn't create the guardians
“The legendary Star-Lord will return”
Except with a different actor.
No same Chris Pratt.
HOPEFULLY Chris Pratt WILL change his mind! James Gunn already basically gave him his "Blessing" to keep going with it/the Character and maybe though James Gunn will now be leading the DCU and being at the Helm of it all...... perhaps hopefully God willing he can still provide SOME input/take the new Director under his wing, so to speak?! I can't imagine ANYONE else EVER playing Star Lord and if they do.......giving the role the dignity and respect it TRULY deserves, like Chris Pratt did EVERY beautiful second!!

James Gunn has a funny sense of humor, but why joke with a straight face like that… i got so confused 😭

I really really liked the final scene with the last song

Why does everybody want to kill Gamora
The actress doesn't want to play her
It also works because it's established that Quill used her as a stand-in for his mum. There had to be something about him getting over Gamora.
Ya but she didn’t have to die. I mean it was a different love but ultimately I think it’s because the actress was clear she didn’t want to keep doing it
