As a newbie hobby printer looking for a first printer to buy and eventually build myself some armor pieces, my wife and I have definitely considered getting the Elegoo max. I’ll just have to learn how to 3d print on a big printer rather than buying multiple printers.

I just bought a Neptune 3 Max in the UK. Thanks for the review - certainly helped me choose.
Very happy with it. And yes it is huge. Well made - feels real quality - pretty heavy. Box it came in was huge!
Not too massive for your typical kitchen table - that where mine is.
Very good quality print and not had one fail - yet!

Was able to buy a Elegoo Neptune 3 Max when it was in stock and videos like these make me even more excited! Going from a Ender 3 V2 to something like that where I can print helmets and cosplay pieces in one go is super amazing. Glad to see you comparing to a "expensive" printer to know that this purchase was worth even before having it delivered.

And now the Neptune 4 Max is out ($440), at 420x420x480. So cool. Being an open bed slinger limits your filament options, I guess, but PLA will probably do most everything you need, anyway. Also needs more space than something like the Creality K1 Max, but that's a small thing compared to the massive build volume. It would be nice to see an X/Y enclosed printer in this size.

I have a Neptune 3 Pro, and its been a pleasure to work with. I have yet to experience failures of any kind. Super reliable workhorse. I'm currently building a (non-LDO, I wanted to hand pick every part) 350x350 Voron 2.4R2. I'll be using it for exotic materials, and super fast prints. Even with both of those, I'm still going to buy a Neptune 3 Max if I can ever find them in stock. They'll likely release/pre-order the Neptune 4 Max by the time that happens. This is the first video I watched from this channel, and it was nice to see an unsponsored, unbiased video that wasn't a thinly veiled Elegoo commercial. That being said, I couldn't help but notice the arm positioning throughout. The elbows are always at a 90⁰ or higher bend, thus positioning the biceps in a cosmetically favorable position. To my eye, a lot of the movements/gestures seemed unnatural and just stood out. It kinda reminded me of the very first Transformers movie where Shia and Megan are sitting in Bumblebee. In the scene, he's making deliberate (and awkward looking) gestures with his arm attempting to make his arm look like he has muscle. This happens when he's pointing at the mirrored ball hanging from his rear view. Look it up on RUclips if you've never seen it. No hate, I just thought it was an amusing observation. Video was solid though 👍

For the M4 you're paying for some wiggle room and quality things. 800w PSU, new all metal Sprite printhead, dual Y axis linear rails, larger print volume etc. It would be interesting to see you do a high speed/print quality comparison on a large print. Especially after the Sonic Pad update comes out for the CR-M4, and you can get klipper on it. I'd put money on the CR-M4 printing faster.

I am having pretty good results with CR-10 S5. I mean yeah its over $800 but 500x500x500 gives me plenty of room to do all things I want. As soon as my King Mandalorian helmet is done, going to be doing a full jet pack in one piece. Plenty of room, and like I said have had no series issues.

I've been considering purchasing a larger format FDM printer for a few months after diving into resin printing with the Anycubic Photon during the dark times. Im curious if other slicers have an option where you can do a filament change per layer but have the option to show you how much filament is used up until the filament change layer. This would help larger printers set the spot in the slicer for where the filament spool ends and where to make the swap. Im printing pieces that are two plus spools and wish this was an option!!!

The only good thing about the low quality Creality machines is that many great innovators introduced products to make them better. Bondtech has many upgrade paths to make them print very nicely with their direct drive setups and more. Tiny Machines has a lot of upgrades as well. But I agree, the Elegoo is really a better bang for the buck. I'm curious how powerful that heater is since it would be a great platform for a 0.8 nozzle (or bigger)

Bought a Neptune 3 max and I loved it but after a month it had some leveling issues which resulted in the blob of death that killed my heat element. Replaced the heat element and printer wouldn’t heat up. Elegoo is currently sending a new ribbon cable and printer head in like 2 weeks. It could have been my fault but I heard other customers had issues after a month on Amazon reviews. Remember these words you pay for what you get. So yes you could spend $470 on the Neptune Max or 1100 on the CR4. The Neptune Max breaks down more often and run into some more problems. I've been running a CR4 for about a month now not a single flaw. When I got the Neptune Max I had some failures not every time but it would happen almost regularly if I didn't have the exact setting right. All comes down to how much you want to pay.

I've been waiting for this exact video. I've been in the market for a large (huge?) format printer for a little while and both the M4 and N3 Max have been on my radar.
I've had good experiences with Creality printers, but have been having a hard time seeing the value proposition of the M4. Creality has been positioning this printer as "quasi-industrial" without really justifying it.
I'm going to wait to see what Creality releases early this month for their anniversary, but the N3 Max has definitely moved to the top of the list.

the neptune 3 max actually has 3 fans in the extruder head. one on each side and one on the bottom. so as far as the noise is concerned. not bad at all.

Bought a second hand cr10s pro v2 (with few upgrades) for 350 euro today. I emailed elegoo 2 days ago and they told me the neptune 3 plus would be available in a "few months/several" exact words from customer service. I hope i did a good choice. I do not have patience to wait for several months. Elegoo gotta do something with their supply. I cant even buy std 8k resin to Eu because its sold out almost always

Hey Frankly Built, got a question for you.
Did you have any troubles with have a solid first layer tests?
My Elegoo 3 Pro performed a first layer test where at spots it will be to closer to the bed while other spots it was too far away. There were a few spots that were on point but those were very limited.
I wanted to see if you had any issues with that and ways to fix this issue. I have tried a few ways through there IT support but some of those things hasn’t change much.
Let me know what you think. Thank you

How is the Neptune 3 MAX faring with PETG and ABS though? I read that it isnt so good for high temp filaments such as ABS as the hotend is teflon lined.

I got the email notification at 4:30am that the max was back in stock and sprinted to my wallet. I use the Cr-10s pro V2 and it has never needed any work or maintenance it is truly a workhorse. When I say the Elegoo Max I was so excited to get it, this video has gotten rid of any buyers remorse and I am excited to get it and start printing
