  • Oh boy have I been waiting WAY to long for a printer like this! Today I'll be discussing the Creality K1 Max and my thoughts on it. This printer has been a joy from the start right out of box and has been delivering some of the best prints I've seen to date, at speeds I'm still blown away by.
This is 100% a printer I would recommend to people just getting into the hobby, who are looking to print large stuff immediately! It's easy to set up, a friendly User Interface, Small-ish footprint and did I mention the quality?
As always, drop your comments, questions, or concerns down below! Enjoy the video!

I'm not going to lie. I am sold.
I had been looking at the p1p.
I'm currently running 2 Ender 3 S1 plus machines damn near 24/7. I love them both.
And I'm waiting for a Halot mage to show up in the mail.

In less than six months they payed for themselves and more.

Hey Frank, you were there main reason why I chose my first 3D printer to be the Elegoo Neptune 3 Max, you’re also the reason I chose to get a Creality Ender 3 V2 which I’v chosen based on your love for the Ender model, which I’ll be getting a few more of these Vi’s, but I’m also planning on buying a K1 Max, and yes you guessed it…you’re to be blamed for that as well my friend! LOL Thank you for all your insight!

  • @xXKisskerXx
    @xXKisskerXx Год назад +17

one of the biggest reasons I didn't back the Bambu Lab printer - was the average print bed size. Like it had everything - except the larger format I wanted, and for the price... I kinda expected it to be more like 300 cubed. I am happy it came out and did well, and provided a basis for others to begin copying/cloning to make even cheaper versions on - which will eventually lead to some innovations - I just don't want a printer that prints smaller/similar to an Ender 3 from 2019.
This K1 max is a good start - but with fans that loud and some of the other quality issues - it will be made 'better' in no time. I wonder how long until creality makes it the K1 Max Pro?

Hey. Thinking about getting this model, I'm trying to figure out print times on smaller items (before buying), so if you were printing a figure that's around 10cm, or a literal mug, any idea on a rough time? Just trying to see how long a simple print, vs a slightly less simple print take (I'm sure I could have written this a lot better 😂)
      Thanks Chris

Been using ender 3 v2 since 4 years, I am frustrated with the calibrations and leveling that needs to be done, been spending hours in a week just trying to get a good first layer.
Now I think it is time to move to a bigger and better printer. Stuck between K1 max and P1s, from where I come the prices are very similar to each other. Both do not offer any customer support in my region. Reparability, part availability and reliability are key to my use case. Already saw your comparo video between k1, k1 max and p1p. Still a bit confuse, would lover recommendation :)

Hi Frank. I have a question. I just got my first printer. A K1 Max. So far the only print that was successful is the benchy. Others have failed due to print bed adhesion (even with glue stick, maybe not using enough?) but twice now the printer has continued “printing” and even “finishing” and saying it was successful even though it wasn’t letting out any filament. The first time I could see the filament for some reason was not in the extruder, it was about an inch away in the tube. I pulled the filament out and put it back and had it extrude and it seemed MAYBE it was a clog. Have you had this before? Any idea why it’s happening? And shouldn’t the run-out sensor detect that there’s no filament? Or does the fact that it’s still in the tube so far make it think it hasn’t run out. I’m not sure where the sensor is monitoring and how it works. I appreciate any advice you have.

Yeah I got one too. What's not to love about a printer that craps little spots every time it does automatic bed leveling. The printer that goes from 200C at the nozzle to 140 when it homes. But doesn't go back to the 200 afterwards. So I changed my G-Code on my file. It started printing without bringing the nozzle back up to temperature, even though the G-Code told it to do so. Now I'm waiting for another extruder.

Thanks for the honest review, only one small nitpick for 3:15. The K1 doesn't have a "heated chamber", but a "passively heater chamber". A heated chamber uses the bed heater AND additional heaters (which the K1 doesn't have) to bring the chamber temperature up (in most cases over 90 degrees C). The K1 with its passively heated chamber will reach about 60 - 70C.
You can also call the K1 as an "enclosed chamber" printer

I’ve had one for a few months and all of a sudden I can’t get any prints to get further than the first layer. It just clogs or doesn’t adhere to the plate. I have the smooth and textured plate. Swapped the Bowden tube with a Capricorn and even just got a micro Swiss flow tech. Still same issues. I also use a sunlu dryer box I keep the filament in while printing. Not sure what the issue is.

I believe the first company to come up with a product that is plug and play and also has the ability to have components quick changed will win the consumer market. A toolless quick release that will allow a user to remove the hot end assembly and direct drive then load a spare, so the primary can be sent for refresh will be the next step in consumer 3D printing and getting away from needing to tinker with the printer quarterly to make it work. Granted tinkerers can benefit especially if there is a powered bench allowing you to perform the maintenance, but not everyone wants to do it. They would rather take their devices to be serviced.

Aside from Creality's notoriously bad customer service, they'll definitely need an AMS that competes with Bambu's in functionality to be truly competitive. I didn't get an AMS for my P1P initially because I didn't think I'd print multicolor much, which I don't. However, once I got one I realized how insanely convenient its features are. Auto switching on filament runout, estimates of filament left (if using bambu filament), being able to slot another roll in mid print if you feel like you're cutting it close to running out, and just the ability to have 4-16 filaments loaded ready to go that you can choose from when slicing.

Most people don't really need AMS system. First, it's wasteful. Second, the quality isn't that good compared to when printing in one color. Third, for most commercial AMS, you only get 4 filaments in one print for a very high price. I would recommend people who want to use AMS to invest their time to practice using spray paint instead. I would recommend the AMS only if you're planning to do mass production of small items with just a little color, because if it's big, then it's going to take a very, very long time to print.

@@AkiTsukita I occasionally use multicolor but, like Op said, there are MANY different reasons to use the AMS.
Filament run out detection and redundancy. Similar filaments can continue printing in a runout scenario
Having 4-16KG of filament at the ready is a great QOL feature for single or multicolor prints.
The AMS is a drybox, has humidity sensor.
You do not need to touch filament for at least 4KG worth of printing. no twists, tangles, unspooling for the most part.
I can finally use up spools that are low so there is little filament waste overall. In my old print work flow having spools under 50-100g were a pain to use up on other printers. So they sat until a very small print job or became waste.
(My specific use case is) I can print remotely and only need to have someone at the build plate to clear it. That means production does not need to stop. Example. I was hundreds of miles from my printer for a week and did not miss a single day of printing. Teaching a non techie person how to clear a build plate took less than 5 min. (also the lidar could check if the build plate was misaligned)
I will directly challenge the quality argument. That is a the first time I heard anyone say there is quality loss using the AMS. If anything the filament buffer(in the back) makes sure you have consistent pressure for prints.
I had my AMS for 13 months with thousands of filament cuts, swaps, retractions and reloads so it is reliable.
So the AMS is more than just multicolor prints and once you have it becomes a chore to go to a unit without it.
You are correct in one situation huge multicolor prints can use a lot of filament and take a lot of time. But if you are smart about it, it becomes a nonissue.

@@AkiTsukita I use a Mosaic Palette with up to 8 color choices. I print a lot of multicolor large items that look outstanding with NO loss of quality. Why would you even say that? Nothing is different other than the color changes. Is it wasteful? Yes, but it beats sanding everything and painting all the time.

    • @AkiTsukita
      @AkiTsukita Год назад

@jntenglish I haven't said that Mosaic was bad. Overall, I think it's even better than one from Bambu Lab. Because it uses a totally different method to change the filament. Also, have you read my entire comment? I said that it's slow and not suitable for large prints, because it's going to take ages to finish one.

Does the carbon filter function well on the K1 Max? I don't believe I heard you talk about it. It's a feature I need since I don't have a garage to put my potential 3d printer in.
