Another, often forgotten, group of insects that are thought to have convergently evolved fungus farming around the same time as ants are termites. This particular group of termites have lost the ability to digest wood on their own, and instead use wood and dead leaves to cultivate their fungus gardens.
I hope you can also feature the rarest, tallest by length, and the one of the strongest birds of prey the Majestic Mighty Philippine Eagle. Thanks so much! A lot of people should know this type of bird because it is the most critically endangered eagle in the world. Thanks so much!!!
Thank you so much! This is part of one of our feature length documentaries - you can check them out on our website if you like 😉 so it can take many months or years to shoot a whole documentary!
These tinies never cease to amaze and inspire us...🐜🐜 No matter what the adversities are, they still don't give up.💪🏻💪🏻🔥🔥 As a child I used to think what were they gonna do with all those leaves. I thought they used it for building their nests. But now I got the secret behind these work.🤘🏻🥳 Thank you Terra Mater for such a great information. And the visuals were just awesome...🥰🥰🤗🤗
They really are mini Hercuuleses 💪 Yeah at first one might think that they carry them to the nest to feed on them right?! You are very welcome 😊 We are happy to hear that you enjoyed it so much!
Ants are such amazing little creatures! The camerawork and storytelling were fantastic in this as well. I'd love to see a video on my personal favorite animal, the jaguar 🐆
They are indeed 🐜 Thank you so much, we really do appreciate your kind words! As you are such a loyal subscriber and viewer you'll not miss it if we upload a video on them 😉
I've always LOVED ants!!! They are so fascinating to me 😍😍 when i learned as a kid that they can carry 100x their weight i was instantly impressed! & have had mad respect for them since ♡♡ 🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜
We as a channel don't have a donating feature but a lot of our videos on conservation do, so you can support nature conservation there if you like 😉 Getting to hear such kind words is the best credit we can get - and of course spreading the word about our channel so we can grow even more 😊 because #terramatters
Another amazing video! Always keep looking forward to Terra Mater videos, one of the best part of the day. The producing and videography is stunning. Love from Bangladesh 🖤
@@pundlik9012 yeahh, both countries are blessed with natural wonders and unique biodiversity found only here. Wish to get out of the cities more and visit more nature ☺️ Greetings and regards back to you!!
I had heard of leaf cutter ants, but don't remember learning the reason why. I thought they built plugs or use them as building material inside their colonies; was blown away to learn they use it to farm their own fungus to feed on. Amazing ❤️
So...how did ants figure out farming millions of years before us? I watched this video for an answer to the question in the title. Instead you tell us how they farm today, not how they figured it out millions of years before us.
LOKAH SAMASTAH SUKHINO BHAVANTU is a Sanskrit phrase that translates to "may all beings everywhere be happy and free and may the thoughts words and actions of my own life contribute in some way towards that happiness and freedom for all" 💚👽🛸🐱🐶🐄🐷🐔🐳🐬🦜🦚🍀🍄🌎
All of this is awesome but the craziest part i find is that they have a damn daycare center. I honestly just thought larvae crawled around and fed themselves 🤯
I am glad to be your 1000th liker to this video. Always waiting for it. They (these ants) are soo full of life and intelligent. Glad I found this channel a year ago when it had near to 100K subs and glued to it since then. Animal world and amazing nature makes me inquisitive for our mother earth and I would'nt leave it even if all humans end up on mars someday. Greetings from land of elephant headed god-Ganesha (India)
I have found that a good measurement of these videos is the *WOW* factor - in other words - How many times I say *..wwWWOOWww* Your vids are always on the higher end of that scale -
i hope you will read it, as a youtube video consumer of the top nature/science channels i have to say this: you have to pump up your game guys. your stories are not new enough and the way you tell them is a little bit dull. take a look at deep look, or even animalogic for example to how to tell a fresh story in an engertic way. your videos are nice, but they lack better music, better tempo, better writing. i hope you take that into consideration
We love the fact that ants figured out farming millions of years before humans. 🐜
Do you know other surprising facts about ants? Let us know!
Their teeth move 1000x a SECOND ?!!? 😳😳
@@HelloAllie That's jaw-dropping, right? 😮

They are great tracker. And most important creatures on this planet even more important than humans 🙏
you know what they say its the small things that matter🍃🐜🌳
The toad’s entry is nothing short of a Hollywood production!
I love this comment! 🥰😆

A toad is a demon for an ant.
A cat is a demon for a canary.
@@gustavosauro1882 depends on which species of ant. If it were army ants the toad would be a mere morsel of food
the Story telling on this is just amazing
Thanks a lot Francis, nice to hear that! 🤗
Ant: "I'll cover for you guys! Get the leaf some place safe!"
Toad: *mlem*
The story telling and the background music is like watching a movie.
That is great to hear, thank you! We are always trying our best to give you the most cinematic feel 😉🐜
This channel's content is just soooooo good
Thank you so much Nicolas! 😊
Great video! You mentioned that their nests are safe from flooding, I think a video on how they do that would be interesting.
I was hoping it would be in this video

Easily one of the most fascinating insects to me, the behaviora of creatures that live colonies are just so complex!
They truly are amazing! So small but so complex and kind of mysterious still 🐜

More of these pls🥺 i love watching ants documentaries
You should check BBC's "The Swarm" series.
I'm curious. How did you get this footage? Did the ants attack the person taking the footage?

And another question
Do other ant species attack these ants?
How do they get the camera inside the anthill and not attract any attention from the ants there (they go about their stuff as if nothing happened)?

How do they stop the rainwater flooding their nest???
Moreover, they don't destroy the nature around them by doing so, unlike some other uncultured species I know. Amazing creatures!
