They don't actually eat the leaves directly; instead, they use them to cultivate a fungus that serves as their primary food source. These ants live in large colonies, with specialized worker ants assigned to various tasks such as foraging, cutting leaves, tending to the fungus gardens, and protecting the colony.

Thank you, I was hoping to get this basic information from the video. In Cuernavaca, México, I had a solid line an inch wide traveling in both direction all night long for weeks in the street in front of my house. They emerged from a hole at the base of a tree, traveled an entire block, around corner, up and over a 3’ tall concrete wall, and back behind the house somewhere to get the leaves they liked. In the morning you could see their trail in the street but they were all back underground.
