The rubbing alcohol evaporates Will. It’s a trick most people use to put handles on bicycle handlebars…
yep they do this when putting on golf club grips as well
How does it evaporate if it's in between the Hexacore grip and handle?
science
PPA, Jason Aspes, UPA approvals... reminds me of the 1900s where the company store owned the houses and took the rent, food costs out of paychecks and workers were never able to get out of debt. Here, PPA MLP UPA is the company store controlling the profits
Your content always makes my day after a tough Monday at work. From a fellow Minnesotan to you, congrats on the house!
I agree with Will, the pros do not push the product (Pickleball), I teach PB 101 and no newbie has ever said, I saw some pros on RUclips and wanted to try the sport. All this focus on the pros and tournaments is way too much, even though I like to watch pro matches occasionally, what I want to do is actually play, with my friends every day I can. You guys are great. One has to be careful who they follow as not everyone is upfront and transparent as you guys. I have always trusted you Chris and tell my friends you are a reliable source of information. Congrats on the house and making this work for us and you.
When I thought we were about to have an emotional moment in the kitchen, it got me wondering, who would cry first host Will or co-host Chris? I feel like it would be Will, but I feel like Chris might cry a little inside every time we call Will the host!
We watch you guys so often on RUclips that you’re part of the family now. Keep up the good work. love you both.
They need to use the money for more camera angles, line referees, ball boy/girls so players don’t have to go search for a ball 😂
Yes. Players shouldn't have to look behind a stupid plastic couch to find the lone ball. They're $2-3 in bulk. Give the referee a bunch if nothing else.
As someone fairly new to pickleball, UPA-A sounds shady AF. It wants to be the governing body of pickleball but is the owner/operator of events and the largest on-line retailer, and has aligned itself with the sporting goods pickleball brands?? UPA-A wants to control the product, the events, the retailers (along with retail distribution), and all the rules. If I have this correct, sounds like the early signs of death for pickleball.
Used a J2K in a mixed 4.0 tournament and got a bronze. Really great paddle!
Complete conflict of interest. There will be no transparency when it comes to favoring sponsors’ paddles. And $100k is a joke. You’re right, I can see charging per paddle model approval, but must be done by independent agency.
Love the cool editing effect at 2:59!
Its like the UPA is trying to throw hands at players and small paddle companies. This shit is unacceptable
PPA has never been afraid of pushing the limits of reasonable pricing. Remember when Jigsaw Health ads were so prominent on tournament broadcasts?
Hi guys! Another true fan, here. I am grateful for your work on the Podcast. Good luck on the new house, Chris -- looking forward to your progress and eventual new court.
Spot on about sun sleeves.. Been wearing them for a long time.. They definitely keep you cooler in Florida...They are a staple on the LPGA where I first saw them..
You can speed cube but you can't put on a hesacore grip without rubbing alcohol..😅😂. They're actually not difficult..😊
Superfan here!😁Congrats Chris and welcome to home ownership!! Your tireless work has paid off; appreciate your honesty and transparency. And to Will (the host😆), congrats on your success as well, hoping the Willinator kills it for 2024! You guys are great together, keep up the great reviews and insightful commentary! 🤩😎
What was your opinion of the standard shape new pro xr 13mm?
What’s faster Chris, putting the hesacore using the trick or reloading the sheets on your Reload paddle?
Ps when is that paddle finally releasing
Love my J2K Pro, but I had to add 3 grams at the top of the head of the paddle. Fits me perfectly for what I need.
Slowpitch softball has USSSA and USA/ASA (and a few others) but the bats have different stamps for each organization
What are the best alternatives to the Luxx Invicta shape? Having spray on grit problems need carbon fiber or Kevlar.
Why does the barrier for small companies have to be financial? IMO it should be rules based. I.e patents and such, it should be easier to make successful businesses not harder, and this will also get rid of the copycats as well
For the Hesacore installation you can use hairspray. I used to use hairspray to put new handle bar grips on my bikes. Like rubbing alcohol it evaporates.
Maybe for the pricing they could do a percentage of last year sales and if it's a new start up company until they reach a certain number in sales it would be a flat rate for them. So the small businesses won't get hit too hard but be able to pay the fees. And also for the court maybe a removable logo (maybe carpet or some other material) so would be good so when you flim you can place it as you please. Also you can place it in the top end of the court so it won't get in the away or wherever you feel fit
Any chance you can do a review on over grips. I live in Jersey and this weekend was so hot and humid I couldn't hold onto my paddle. I currently use ADV max tac. I used to love them until this weekend
Got the sunscreen sleeves but they proved to be inconvenient for me so I bought a long sleeve UPF 50+ UV Sun Protection Shirt and just slip it on when playing outdoors. Can't pay that $40 for a 1.7 fl oz tube of sunscreen.
I say go with the blue court and orange kitchen but you can't have it surrounded by a white fence
I loved this episode! The host pickleball Will and his co host Patrick are really good!
Tip for Will's shoulder - start strength training and work on your back, shoulders and core. It might take you at least 6 months of training to get to the point where it'll be stable. In 2017, I dislocated my shoulder and like Will, I had multiple instances where it would pop out and back in. TLDR, had to get surgery or risk getting arthritis which would make it worse as you get older. If you want to shortcut the process, look into Neufit to speed up the process of strengthening it. But working the core, back, and shoulders 2-3x a week will get you there in 6+ months where you can do a dead hang for 1 min. That's a good litmus test of good shoulders and healthy shoulders. Good luck Will!
Chris, i am moving to MN from AZ, where are the best indoor courts for higher level play?
“The True Host” is the Elder Wand of pickleball
Shout out for Supergoop. Love the stuff!
Here is the difference between the APP & PPA - you don't have to see AL & BJ every stinkin' Championship final
Congrats on the house! If you need help moving hit me up. Only a short drive from Mankato!
How do you know you are going to get the new version of the vulcan ball? I haven't heard there is any different marking so I would suspect the discounted price is because they are trying to get rid of all the original version.
Thanks for the pod guys. I always make it to the kitchen, just not much of a commenter.
Thanks will you are awesome thanks for visiting Hemingway Park in Carson Ca 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
What separates Storyi sun sleeves from other sun sleeves that are half the price?
Is also like to know
The price.
Ben John’s uses them so they must be the best
Boutta have my money unseen if buying that sunscreen, gawd damn!
what's the code for the re release vulcan balls?
The reason UPA cost was so low was he ran it as a Nonprofit this is why he does not have the money to really fight larger co on level field.
And that is who should be running it. Independent and nonprofit. When someone pays $100k the expect something in return. You better approve their paddles.
Every commercial pro sport wants to control their product which entails controlling equipment and rules. Basketball has different rules balls and courts in NBA, WNBA (went to a smaller basketball), College, and Olympic play. Baseball the same. If the PPA becomes a successful TV product it will start adjusting things like the kitchen size and whatever they can think of to drive up viewership. Look at the designated hitter in baseball and the three point shot in basketball.
That is what mass viewership pro sports do. Big time pro sports are also greedy, very greedy.
I’m a little surprised you guys aren’t still playing with the pro S1s. I play with that ball almost exclusively and I don’t really have any problems. Did you stop playing with them for a specific reason?
Instead of Traveling Pants, this will be the Traveling Paddle!
UPA was trying to run a fine line of respect where Pickleball came from and try to manage where it is going fast.
A pro about the higher barrier of entry: it protects brands who are innovating and will reduce the footprint of copycat brands that cut into their market share, thus leading to more innovation.
It would be helpful if you and chris gave a review of the Diadem ball. I believe that I have heard a few random statements that the Diadem ball is decent, but that is kinda weak.. Thanks still for the best pickleball podcast.
In the early part of the podcast, I was wondering if your equipment reviews were going to veer towards medical devices and therapy techniques. Instead of “The Kitchen”, the final segment should be called “The Recovery Room”. Having both back and shoulder issues myself, I sympathize with both of your physical health struggles.
Congratulations, Chris.
You can just use hair spray with a high alcohol content and the hesacore grip easily slides right on.
If Will was the host, the pod would have more sponsors than a NASCAR
Unseen sunscreen is the BEST! It's kind of like a silicone primer.
J2k missed out on not doing a skinnier neck as my double handers feel weird. A skinnier neck would of sold it to me
“Appearing” greedy? If it moos like a cow…
Congrats on the new house CO.
Will making all of the host/co-host jokes are getting old. They’re not even funny.
Finally someone says it. THANK YOU
Doesn't want to let it go. Once in a while is fine... but 5 times a cast is just eyeroll inducing.
- Chris Olson’s burner account
Low taper fade vibes
6:52 my only issue with sunscreen, does it burn the eyes
Chris and Will should assemble a squad of 4 Pros and or 5.0 players. MLP style and play an MLP game. Team Chris vs Team Will and whoever wins is the host of the Pickleball studio podcast.
Got both proxr. The original 14mm is so much better
In SC. I play shirtless so I can tan while I play.
You and Will can do what college football does. Whoever wins the annual game keeps the paddle for the year.
About time you included the higher level bro
What state are you moving to Chris good luck bro
Glad the host didn't drown surfing !!!
You can use hand sanitizer works as well
The host is back
$38 for 1.7 oz for sunscreen is INSANE
Yeah, I could never justify that. A lot of the Korean sunscreens are like that too.
I enjoyed the podcast. I am wondering how much Doug from Bread and Butter paid Will to wear the Bread and Butter t-shirt to advertise his company on the podcast 😂😂😂😂 My opinion is that the PPA, MLP and UPA are creating a pickleball monopoly, unless they can be transparent in their testing procedures, testing results and the amounts that companies and players are being charged for violating the paddle regulations, no matter who they are. I made it to the kitchen and good luck on your house and building your court.
If you don't have rubbing alcohol, just use hand sanitizer. They are mostly alcohol.
No big brand paddle can hold a candle to a Mach one forza or pulsar. It really sucks for the players in general. Upa seems anti pickleball
They are anti-pickleball, it's the PPA, they are pro money and that's it. Horrible company that has done nothing for the sport.
Skinny singles for the “true host” paddle 😎
Will out here trying not sing Bad Reputation
As a pod host, Will is 3.5 at best!
@will check out this dupe for the sunscreen you love. I think you like that it works the same for a fraction of the cost! Enjoy. JFlo from California!
Square handle is nice
Keep surgery for your last last options, Will!
Ah man, harsh on small businesses
PPA approved paddle $350 rec approved paddle $150 what kind of player are you.
Will USAP survive the Joola lawsuit???
The Trader Joe's version of Sun Goop is better and cheaper.
Trader Joes sells a dupe of the Super goop sunscreen
Is it called Sooper Goop Doop?
Will, so nice of you to allow Chris to co-host with you. I'm sure one day he'll get his own podcast. Crazier things have happened right? 😜
Alcohol evaporates completely.
Alcohol evaporates from the grip!
7:49 you cant wear sunsleeves on your face
For the "host paddle" competition just don't make it available to Playing pros or other podcast hosts. This way Zane can't participate. Sorry Zane! ha😂
Bad guy... "last two years". Are you kidding? How about the last five years. They have never been pro sport, pro player, pro venu. Never. PPA Sacramento was the worst streaming quality I have ever seen in 'anything'. Do you think PPA is going to change... Dream on!
Have always worn sun sleeves ala Ben Johns for years. Sun Screen hater as well. 38 bucks for 1.7 oz for sun screen!!! Pass.
Been playing the CHUCK and like it so far. NPL picked it up as their ball.
Looking forward to Will "How it's Made" video.
Congrats on the house coming together. Not bad for ole cube twister😊
Thank God the host is back....I don't know about the Chris guy tho....liked Aizec better
Gents
P L E A S E put all the paddles on a Continuum from Control - All Court - Power
I realize with paddles becoming more powerful it’s a constantly moving target…
Maybe you can come up with a Power Score to illuminate the difference between 1st Gen, 2nd Gen & 3rd Gen
You, wisely, didn’t say how the cost of UPA-A paddle approval might go but especially given the backlash at $100k plus $5k per paddle it will be $y if the paddle company has total sales below $x.
If the company has total sales of below $2y it will $2x
Else $5x
Ok, apparently the above isn’t clear so here are some made up numbers to help clarify what I mean.
Paddle company total sales below $100k they pay $10k plus $1k per paddle
Paddle company total sales below $250k they pay $30k plus $2k per paddle
Paddle company total sales over $500k they pay $100k plus $5k per paddle
I read it here first and also am confused here first.
In English please.
That’s kind of crazy. What I don’t get is why testing has to cost so much at all.
If you really need a progressive system then have a royalty on sales so that it’s justified based on the players are paying per paddle rather than some arbitrary numbers that might cause game playing. Also should have some fee per test that is big enough to stop abuse of the system.
Makes them partners on paddles sales, bad idea imho.
@@joelsinger5069 I think I see what you are thinking, but the demand for paddles isn’t going to be much affected by whether any given paddle passes standards or not. I don’t think it’s really going to affect individual tests.
