Hey everyone. I just wanted to get in here and make one point Chris didn’t. I think it’s an important one. My daddy invented titanium and we patented it. Don’t even think you can get away with using it. -Douglas Fairbanks the III
Yeah, and my dad invented your dad. So who really owns titanium here? 👀
@@PickleballStudiolol!!! No you didn’t. Dying.
Yo please make this with a long handled standard face that would be so sick
Waiting on that Fat Boy! 😍
@@twodubz2280Tried the fat boy. Preferred it over the shogun!
This was timed perfectly with the amazing TV show using the same name. Watching Shogun while holding the shogun enhances the experience.
I don't know why, but I laughed way too hard at this. Probably because I had an instant visual of someone doing that with a big grin on their face. Good job!
Been looking forward to this
Thanks for a great review Aizec. Nice to have your brother Chris’s opinion as well.
With Aizec joining the review videos, does that mean Chris is now the cohost of the podcast and the paddle reviews?
hahahahaha. Next thing you guys are going to start is that I'm not even the host of my marriage and that I'm the cohost. 😂
@@PickleballStudio Ask your wife who´s the host and side-kick of that. :-)
@@PickleballStudiohahahah Amazing response , keep being great boss. I appreciate your platform and your help making Pickleball awesome
Dont delude yourself youve been cohost of the marriage from day one
In a sea of bland paddles, I love that BnB goes big and bold with marketing, graphics, paddle names, and ultimately great performance. Great review as always. MKBHD of the Pickleball world!
Need more reviews by Aizec!
I enjoyed Aizec and your paddle review of the Shogun. I have been enjoying playing with my Shogun for several weeks. I have great touch and control on my dinks and drops. Also, I have enough power on my drives and overheads. So far, I have not heard any rattling coming from my Shogun. Hopefully, I will not hear any rattling anytime soon. Thank you, Chris and Aizec.
Great review! It was nice hearing your brother's thoughts as well. He might give you some competition in the review game! 😆
Ordered mine and about a month of playing it I heard the same noise when I would shake it, glad to know it’s not damaged 🙏🙏
Thanks as always Chris. I am still holding out for the 6.0 BD 14 mm and the RUBY 14 mm. Both play much more all court than any other 14 mm I have ever used. I have played both... Yeah 6/25 for the new release coming.
So my DUPR is going up 1 the second I get my hands on this? Sweeeeet. Can’t wait for Monday to come!
The 1st Titanium/Carbon face paddle was the T-1000 Titanium by Insum. A sub brand of AMA Sports which is a large OEM. The T-1000 Titanium is BJ Perseus Gen 2 with a titanium/carbon face. Plays great but not USAPA Approved at the time.
Not related to the main topic but noticing the Apollo stands out nicely on that shelf
I had been playing with Ben Johns gen2 and then switched to this a while ago. Similar paddles. Ben Johns has better handle, doesn't rattle, and has slightly better sweet spot. Shogun is cheaper, slightly more pop, still great control, better spin/surface longevity. Both nice, my two favorites out of everything I've played.
Chris-. Great review. I must admit, the loose glue would likely drive me nuts. Hopefully their QC corrects this. As always, your honest reviews are the reason I watch your show.
That’s the only thing I’m worried about with the Shogun too. @bnbpickleball will the loose glue shaking around be addressed and looked into? I’m hoping on buying a Shogun but this is making me hesitant. I don’t wanna hear rattling each time I swing 😅
I have used multiple of them now and that was the only case I’ve seen of any rattle at this point. It’s seems to be a very rare case
@@AizecOlson BTW, you are a great add to the podcast. Well Done and thanks for the follow up.
Great review! Is there a review on the Honolulu j2k in the works?
Aizec teasing us with the Fat Boy! Dying to try both of those paddles!!!
Prefer the fat boy over the shogun after trying both of them
@@SLim-vo6fj how come? curious about the fatboy
@@k_evolutionunique design; lighter in the hands hence it felt more comfortable at the kitchen. However when hitting from the back of the court, it is a little loud.
@@k_evolutionDo note that the Fat Boy's face feels smoother than Shogun, like a smoothened Ruby's face. Would be interesting to know its rpm.
Definitely getting the Fat Boy. Have my Loco and love it.
This looks great.
Hmm…guess I can have 3 paddles.
Pray wife doesn’t notice.
Interesting about the usable grip length. Wonder if it is QC or a different mold/factory. I'd assume that they use the same mold as the Filth.
Chris, any experience with the OM Aries1 Pickleball paddle/“racquet?”
Aizic’s sunglasses are giving me squirtle squad vibes
I love this comment!!
Should I make him wear a squirtle onesie in the next review?
Haha! Do it!
How would you compare the feel between the Shogun and a Kevlar paddle like the Ruby?
Mine is coming in on monday 🙏🙏
Update?
@@GucciPow plays amazing, feels way more plush than normal raw carbon fiber. I feel like I can go for any kind of shot whether it be a hard drive or a drop etc.
well worth it in my opinion.
There was Insum also with their Titanium. Can you review the Insum T700 Fast pro?
How many face layers are there in the SHOGUN? Wondering about a pure Titanium layer in the face.
Chris where did you get your wedding band from?
Coming from playing the Loco, I was very pleased with this paddle. Has that extra pop/power and feels like it has just as good of spin.
How do you compare to Loco? Have enjoyed this paddle.
What brand and model of grey shorts is Aizec wearing during his review? I need some good pb gear. Please let me know. Thx.
They are American eagle shorts. Not sure exactly which ones though haha
11:54 -- Bread & Butter's next paddle - The Maracas
How does it compare to the spartus Apollo? Which one would you choose?
Weird question but when you go to a pickleball court what are some things that make your experience better. I’m building one and want to know how to improve it. Thanks
Windscreens and a stacking system.
how does it compare to the new Ronbus R1?
How would you compare this to the Ruby?
Broo please someone review the new Franklin featherweight
Have you weighted up it all? I just ordered one and I’m coming from a CRBN 3X. (Which I love!)
I typically do a 3g strip at 4 and 8 o’clock. Thoughts? Great video, thank you Chris! 🥊
I didn't add any weight to mine, because it was already at the upper limit of what I prefer for swing weight. Aizec added about 6 grams on each side at the throat of the paddle for his though.
I too am coming from the CRBN 3x (14mm) and it's weighted at 4 and 8. The weight of the Shogun feels great out of the box for me, so I haven't messed around with weighting it. I accidentally left my Shogun at home because I was cleaning the grip (which is a dirt magnet) and had to play with my 3x for a day, and I'm finding that I don't like it anymore. I lovwd that paddle, and never thought I'd try something I liked more, but the Shogun was the one. It's got a lot more feel at the kitchen line and my serves and drives are stronger, which sounds odd. You wouldn't think you could get improvement in opposite spectrums.
@@slothlife380 Very interesting, and that is surprising that you get both better feel and more power. Wow, can’t wait to try it! Thank you for your feedback!
Please make a video on the ruby 14mm
It is on the list! Not sure if I'll make it in time for launch though.
@@PickleballStudio that’s fine just please make it
How does this compare to the kevlar hurache?
I feel like the handle circumference feels bigger than my filth . Not the biggest fan. I put hesacore on all my paddles and it’s almost too big.
I need help please pick some paddles for me im a beginner looking to get into intermediate and I like power but don’t want to lose control. Definitely looking for an all court paddle…
Some options to consider:
- Vatic Prism Flash 14mm
- 11six24 Hurache-X Control+
- Honolulu J2K (I haven't hit this one myself much yet, but I've heard for the price it is very nice. Might be on the softer side though)
Those are some decent places to start at varying price ranges.
@@PickleballStudio I really appreciate it man I was looking at vatic prism flash have you used this one? Is it a gen 2 paddle?
PS do you know if you can use an eraser to clean like on carbon fiber?
We didn't try it on this surface. Wiping it down with our hand seemed to clear up most of the dust.
That's one of the things that we'll have to wait to see how it pans out.
Bros videos are on par with John Kew
Hey, what is a good carbon fiber paddle to get for my first high end paddle? I’m thinking about getting the Filth, but I am not sure yet. Any recs would be appreciated!
If you want a control paddle, try the BNB Loco. I’m playing with the Filth (just what I tried first) but reasons for my decision was not necessarily power - it had great spin rating/reviews, longer handle and extended paddle (I’m still into tennis and like the length of handle/paddle, just “feels good” in my hand) and lastly you mentioned PRICE. At $165 and with 15% discount codes all over the place - it made it a much easier decision. I have two other paddles that cost more than the Filth, but I hit with those maybe 1x a week just for something different. Their return policy and warranty is great, certainly worth considering on the purchase. I had a technical question, called the number, ended up being answered by the owner’s son (he didn’t tell me that, found out later watching a YT video of the owner and he said his son’s name). I spent 30 years in commercial/community banking, lending money to small/mid-size companies - BNB says they have around 20 employees, veteran owned, can talk with real people, etc. Finally, their marketing is crazy good - they seem to take pickleball seriously, but not themselves. Great paddles, great price and FUN company.
"loose glue" looks like polymer flakes from cutting it in half.
Some of those would have been from cutting in half as well. The much finer stuff that came out would have been the glue.
Please give fatboy spoilers 😬
Is there a standard shape cf+kevlar paddle on the market?
That will be the FatBoy when it comes out. Otherwise I don't think one exists.
@@PickleballStudio I hope they execute it well!
Do you know if they will have varying thicknesses?
Handle circumference sizes?
General weight?
@@tengYT8.125 wide>4.25 inch circumference handle>5.2 ish handle length>8 ounces static weight>swing weight 110-112 ish>tw 7.4 hope this helps.

How do you have the Fatboy on the way already?

@@jncgregg so sorry for all the questions, but where is the ambassador store? I can’t find it on the link
Don't speed up on Chris he says 9:37 XD (I guess Aizec can get away with it)
😂😂😂
With all respect, not talking about the "ballance" of the paddle is a bad sign.
I have bought many paddles because of the reviews.. Many of them turned out to be head heavy! And to me (coming to the game from tennis and the pro Staff), this is a no go!
Every serious tennis racket reviewer will talk about the ballance.
I hope pickleball reviewers will catch on...
Reviewers have started charting out balance (I measure it whenever I get a paddle).
However, I haven't found a clear correlation yet in PB about which range feels head light, head heavy, and balanced.
If I can't articulate it well, I don't want to say a number with no meaning attached to it.
@@PickleballStudio Thanks for your answer! I see. So there is not yet a convention in pickleball.
But maybe just state that it is head heavy or head light or we'll balanced. This is something that you can "feel". That would be good enough 👌
SW 124 holy moly
Aizec just looks like the way his name is spelled.
lol I just want to know what this means 😂
@@AizecOlson Aizec just seems like a really Chad way of spelling it, and you're like a Chad version of your brothers with the long hair and chain
😄😄Don't speed up at Chris.
No way I'll be buying this one anytime soon. In the past I'd rush out and buy a paddle when you liked it......... now I'm going to wait a few months to see if USAP delist it due to illegal materials they approved then changed their minds on. 🙂
I'm more interested in what the next governing body is going to do, USAP is a dead org walking.
luckily, the layup is near identical to the Filth except for the face weave. And the weave should be softer than RCF, but stiffer than kevlar.
If the shogun gets banned every Gen 2 will get banned as well. I’d buy it. I need to pay my child support.
@@bnbpickleball Well then, I'm in .... the kids have to eat!
This from the guy who says Kevlar is a "gimmick" 🧐
No, I said it was being used as a buzzword.
I further clarified in that review that the claims they were making were not proven yet. Such as longer lasting spin or better spin and a stronger surface material. So far, that has been accurate.
It doesn't seem to last any longer than raw carbon fiber, and spin in some cases is higher, but still hasn't exceeded the highest RCF spin rate.
The difference in terms of spin rate between kevlar and RCF likely comes down to how gritty it came from the factory. The consistency rate of peel ply surfaces is terrible in this industry.
What I will say I was wrong about though, is that kevlar has clearly proven to be something the market likes and plays very solid.
@@PickleballStudioKevlar has great spin, unknown durability, but the real advantage seems to be soft plush feel while retaining above average power and pop.
Enough with the stupid paddles. What is the paddle gonna do if you don’t know how to hit the ball.
Ordered one of these, cant wait to play..... but that rattling glue inside was excessive!!! @bnbpickleball - I want a replacement if that happens to mine! just sayin...
