Oops. I just got off the court with my Shogun to which I added 29 g of Slyce endcap and 3 g of lead tape at 4 o’clock and 8 o’clock. The static weight was obviously heavier than I’m used to but the paddle actually felt lighter and very powerful. Who knows what paddles will benefit from this new set up. Custom weighting might be an interesting future video. Thanks again for bringing an intelligent voice to this subject.
Excellent review and describes my experience with the Shogun. I’ve noticed a lot more precision in hitting topspin drives down the alley or to the baseline. Great paddle!
Would you want to do a video on grips...overgrips, replacement grips, dry vs tacky, which brand has the best grips, which grips are best in different conditions. Etc....I'm just throwing out ideas lol. Great video as always!
Luca, great review as always! Thank you for your insight, and succinct & concise perspective! 🥊🙌 PS you do speak a bit fast, but I found I can put the playback speed at .75. 😉
I enjoy your paddle reviews and I appreciate your insight. Please consider shipping to the continental United States! I was gonna order one and no go on shipping to Washington State! Bummer
TLDR: This new paddle design is fascinating! The creativity behind the weave pattern really shows. I'm curious if different patterns could influence play styles. What if we had circular weaves or even pixel art designs? It would be amazing to see someone have full reign over these designs and test their impact on gameplay. Thoughts? Im not in the space enough to be able to say this with confidence but bread and butter seem to have some REALLY creative leadership, its amazing to see that creativity show the the weave of this paddle, i want to see whoever this person is have full reign on the design of the weave pattern and then see if the end up having to make an optimal pattern. for example, imagine that instead of the zig zags going in one direction (i call this direction R1) these zig zag lines curve into each other to form circles, OR whatever pattern is most common could work too. id imagine a reference point being the answer to: How many circle patterns do you need and where should the centers be placed? but i bet some peoples playstyles would benefit off of more square or rectangular patterns, all types of shaped really could be added and tested, you could even do pixel art in the weave pattern. of course, this is all assuming that whoever made that weave pattern can in fact change how the material is weaved. also if Bread and Butter are reading this...need a paddle tester?
the more reviews i hear about this the more i want it. but i want the shapeshifter & j2k too, lol) im so glad they shored up the issue with the filth's smaller sweet spot. it almost sounds like it plays power and control like an elongated gen 1 with perimeter weights (ie more plowthough power while retaining the plush, muted control) but gives you pop on punches.
Once again, another great review from you, Luca! Re: paddle shape, do you think it is intentional, qc, or simply a different mold/manufacturer? iirc, the swing weight of the Filth is kind of high too.
Thank you very much! I think this one is intentional. It’s just so obviously not the shape of the Filth so I would guess they actively looked to create a new mold.
took me a while to like it. At first, the handle was the main source of frustration. I made some modifications and not it's my main. The only issue is during an indoor singles game, the face chipped. if you could do a review on the shapeshifter that would be amazing. awaiting mine in the mail
for a tennis player's understanding, when you describe this paddle as muted, would you describe that feeling to be similar to what a prince O-port/EXO 3 racquet feels like compared to a standard style tennis racquet design?
I think you’re going to like the crispness of the Fat Boy. And it swings below its weight. I’ve blistered some overheads way beyond my normal abilities. When I’m too tense I go back to the Shogun.
I had the same issue with my Shogun grip. I took the stock grip off and put on 2 Bodhi overgrips thightly and it opened the paddle back up similar to the Loco and FatBoy grips. I highly recommend removing the stock grip as it will help it feel more round vs rectangle!
@@pharm30 Gotcha, this is one you will easily be able to sell to someone else. The FatBoy is great if you end up looking at it when it releases in July!

Good review, could you do the Chorus Shapeshifter or the Honolulu J3K next ?
Thanks! Chorus will be very soon and the J3K as soon as we get it!

Yes! Definitely! We’re actually making one very soon.

Haha 🤣 🙌🥊
Great Video!!! Would love to see a comparison video of The Shogun to the 16mm Ruby if possible 🙌🏼
PLEASE... review the Bread & Butter FATBOY. I'll be watching!
As soon as we get it we’re hitting the courts. Can’t wait.
What tier would you consider this paddle in your tier rankings?

Great review. I have had my Shogun since the first batch. It’s definitely all court and I think it hides its somewhat high swingweight.
Totally agree.

Luca, compare the Shogun with the Hudef Viva Pro gen 3. I recently got the viva gen 3 and super impressed with it.
We don’t carry them, unfortunately.
Thanks for another articulate paddle review. I just

I played with the Shapeshifter for the first time yesterday and the hype is real. One more review first then that one’s next.
Could you please review the new Diadem 18K Speed Pro, and also loved the video❤

Kind of. Muted in tennis and pickleball are also pretty different but it’s still a similar idea where non muted has better ball feel.
Shapeshifter vs Shogun? Which one would you pick up off your shelf?
Shapeshifter for me.
A truly excellent paddle.
Which paddle do you prefer Shogun or Chorus Shapeshifter? Regardless of shape… which do you think is a better paddle overall?
I personally prefer the Shapeshifter.

Definitely getting the Fat Boy.
Very excited…
Your use of visuals adds a lot to the video.
Thank you!
Luca...please please please review the new Maverix Paddles, The Pro & All Court. They're not getting the promo they deserve!
We’ve been in contact so perhaps in the future but we’ve got a lot more coming first.
Not a big fan. Handle circumference is a little big for me after couple games feel a little forearm and shoulder fatigue. Had to go back to J2k
