    The Chip printing machine from canon is by far the most interesting thing we had in a long while now. If they actually get it to work well, this could mean a huge price decrease in chips resulting in everything from graphics cards, processors and even storage becoming much more affordable.

      It’s not necessarily going to be faster than litho, so we’re still going to need massive fabs (maybe even bigger if it’s slower), and since most of the cost isn’t really just in ASML lithography machines i wouldn’t really count on this doing much to pricing.

      I don't know why people here seem to pretent Canon would just drop this stuff out of nowhere. They also have decades of experience making lithography machines and were the market leader until ASML came around with their competitive processes at smaller node sizes. Sure, competition in this space is certainly welcome given that ASML is also kind of the bottleneck for many investments into the semiconductor space. But for that to come into fruition, many more things must go right before this stuff will be adapted (yields must be decent, etc). Also, TSMC is now working with a 3nm process node already, so given that and the time it requires to build a new fab, ASML is still in the lead for min 4 years.

    The thing I feel for Nanoimprint is that in the end, you still have to do the mold. I mean, you now have to do one mold per every 100 wafers (spitballing, maybe it is 10K or 10M), which means less time for doing EUV and less machines, but in the end, the "wafer mold" still has to be done.
    If anything, it feels like companies might need less ASML machines and will be able to replace them by Canon's one. And possibly also use way less energy (which is both a big deal for money in operations, and for reducing climate change effects because of it being an electrointensive industry).

    • @arantes6
      @arantes6 11 месяцев назад +9

      I guess the mold is made with similar technology that is used to produce the masks used in traditional lithography machines (weird electron-microscope like machines IIRC)

    • @addygreen8919
      @addygreen8919 11 месяцев назад +5

      Maybe you have an older machine that is not capable to consistently produce 5nm chips (most of them are not usable). But it could maybe be possible that one out of five molds is usable and than you could use this good mold for hundreds of chips. Maybe a partially faulty mold for multiple chips is also not that bad, if the energy and time for the process is minimal.

PC's are used as controllers for CNC machines and Robotics so Microsoft should be careful when updating their OS. I know Win 8 changed screen color defaults and made a lot of my BASIC program menus unreadable due to color changes. The ability to produce small nano chips at a significantly lower cost will be a very interesting thing for the chip market and for tech products. Microsoft windows 12 that is AI powered is a serious step in the future. This update of Friday Checkout is interesting. 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾

    Have you seen their data collection policies? What about their local account, connected state, and advertising policies??? This is become a surveillance and information collection platform, not an operating system.

    I used to hate windows and was a Linux fanboy, privacy advocate, FOSS contributor, the whole shebang....but somewhere along the way Microsoft became friendlier and friendlier in my mind.
    I wonder how they did this!

    MacOS 10: Launched in 1997
    This just shows how little microsoft actually cares to make new OS’s

    The fact that Intel after almost 20 years is taking mobile processors seriously is in itself a redflag of how impared vision can cost you your entire business.

    Do you still have Windows 98 screensavers and screensaver window? Among other ugly ass design choices. It's old, slow and jjust a crappy version of MAcos, lets be honest.

    intel and Windows are still selling 1080p enormous pixel monitors, and celeron or i3 CPU's. CPU's that are 10nanometers that are incredibly inefficient and run hot. It's EMBARRASSING how Microsoft allows their OS to be installed on throw-away computers. It's embarrassing how Intel is 2 years behind on matching similar size lithography of competitors. Windows 12 isn't going to change anything. Literally is a throw-away OS because it's built on top of Microsoft's tracking, fingerprinting and profiling platform of user abuse. I can't, in good conscience, recommend anyone buy a windows PC at this point seeing how all new Macs come with beautiful high density color accurate screens and state-of-the-art processors that run cool and efficient. This is the year I change from a PC guy to a Mac guy.

    Remember when Microsoft little pinky swore that Windows 10 was the last Windows version ever, that all we would have to do is download updates, and that we would never have to buy newer versions ever again? Pepperidge Farm remembers. And I also remember. And it makes me pissed. I still have Windows 10, and my next computer is going to have Linux on it.

    Man windows 10 is now in 2023 worthy of using since all the fixes! now u tell me 12 is on the way I wont even think of buying it. 11 still needs allot of optimization in my opinion to get the reliability where kinda of 10 is now, my old 7 is heaven.

    iOS was a branch and stripped down version of MacOS and now MacOS is integrated with ARM. Windows has many years of ARM development to catch up to.

    I think the buttons on RUclips lights up when you say "Hit that like and subscribe button" or "Smash that like and subscribe button" I think they have just added a javascript event that scans the video transcript and adds animation when you say the above statement, I have only seem subscribe button light up for some content creators.

    Scary also that Apple can turn on one's phone just like that .

    Windows12 needs a stripped down game mode. And not a game overlay bs thing, I mean booting the Windows kernel with the bare minimum you need to play games.
