To my ears, this is the best sounding pedal that bridges the gap between distortion and fuzz. And the fact that they pulled it off with a bold one knob is just brilliance.
It really is so awesome. I've had mine for a long time and it still leads me to new sounds just by playing with volumes and how it interacts with the amp and other pedals before and after it.
One of the best dirt pedals in the world. I use it on bass and when you get the hang of using your volume knob it's like you have every dirt sound ever conceived in one pedal.
YOUR DEMEANER IS NOT THE ISSUE HERE THOU YOUR DEMOES ARE INFORMITIVE FRIENDLY AND RELAXED . i GET A SENSE OF THE DEVICES BEING DEMOED NOT THE JAMMED DOWN THE THROAT HYPER SUPER ROCK GUITARIST USUAL FARE FROM SO MANY PEDAL DEMOS. I like YOUR PLAYING CLARITY OF THOUGHT AND EXPRESSION , SO INFORMATIVE AND YET VERY POLITE. THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT DEMOES.
Became my favorite distortion pedal right away - such a great warm, fat, ballsy sound. I like combining it with their Dispatch Reverb pedal (minus the delay) which is also my absolute favorite - I'm a 100% Earthquaker convert.
When you roll back your volume, that's what a tube screamer should sound like. Great video as always. Haven't seen you on RUclips lately. I hope you and your family are doing well
according to brett himself: Position 1: Volume only, no tone pot - wide open. Position 2: Volume + tone pot. Lets you set up a second sound to switch to. Position 3: Notched. Sort of like a cocked wah. Perfect to feed an overdrive or cranked amp with - lots of singing midrange. Thanks for the kind words. :)
Great pedal, just got one today and plugged it in tonight. What a beast, thanks for the video Brett ! It's kind of fun to rattle the windows once in a while
Man, I would love to hear a stoner metal album from you. Some of the riffs you play in this video and the videos for the pedals Fishing Is As Fun As Fuzz and I Was A Wolf In The Forest would be perfect for it.
I called Earthquaker and asked them exactly the same question. Their response? "Good question...". They asked me what kind of amp I was playing through. I told them a Hughes and Kettner. They said, "Ahhh, we only really play our pedals straight into the front of Fenders"...
Just hit the sub button and like. I love your demos! Keep up the great work! I also am thinking of picking up the Acapulco Gold now for both the guitar and bass.
Is there a pedal that makes me play like you Bret? ThAT would be amazing!!! Then I'd probably be sound amazing though almost anything decently set up.. thanks for great and inspiring demos
Anybody have any experience with this and fender amps? I’m running a Princeton and want a disgusting fuzz/distortion sound but I’m worried this might be a bit a-typical.
does this pedal colour the sound to a point where the amp choice doesn't make a difference? I'm looking for a pedal to colour my sound with this kind of power-amp break up but i still want to retain my amps tone. Thanks
First, i thought that thats not a model t sound. Then i realized, that your lovely tele is in standard tuning. But that pedal still has way too little low end! ;)
I really have no idea. I'm totally ignorant of Mr West's gear or achievements for that matter. Something to look forward to when I'm next on a discovery mission.
+Brett Kingman Leslie West form the group MOUNTAIN with Corky laing & Felix papalardi were noted for heavy riffing, sweet ballads & very emotional & soulful guitar through cranked amps....aah the 70's.Definitely you owe it to youself to check em out!!!
A good question and no apologies needed. Yes, you can. You'll notice that the knob was only at about 10:00 o'clock at the start of the video. Winding the knob up just gives you the same sound at a greater volume. It's the guitar's volume knob that controls the amount of gain. Hence my attempt to demo softer drive at low guitar volume settings, through to full blown amp-like fuzz at higher guitar volume settings.
@@BrettKingman Thanks Brett! I did some research and (I think) the only difference between the original and the V2 is they switched to a soft switch. Just FYI
Kind of a tone selector. P1 = wide open, no tone; P2 = tone pot engaged; P3 = 'strangle' position - it engages a capacitor to roll off some high end. Great with fuzz, high gain, etc.
I feel kind of guilty because it's such a versatile pedal but I only use it as a solo boost! :D Also 03:52 when he turns the Acapulco Gold all the way up the pedal starts actually shaking! HAHAHA!!
Have a read on the earthquakers website what they say about using the right power supply some of those switcher types or daisy chain ones can cause extra noise. Hope that helps.

You should cringe some more while you demo the pedals, lol! If you're actually interested in buying this pedal, watch Lewis Texidor's review. He really shows what this pedal is designed for and he doesn't cringe once at the volume 🤣

Have you ever tried the Fulltone Plimsoul? I find it fills this gap rather well...
This, a Ram's Head and a Tone Bender 3 are the three pedals to look at when looking for this sound.
Love when he says "for some reason the stoners like it"
@@stephenfrancis303 yes and stoner rock loves the Model T
I resemble your statement
Time mark 0:08 squints eyes as in a "Oh shit this is going to be loud" haha

pCeLobster true!
the volume-poti loves this pedal! 😍

when your caps lock is on IT IS LIKE YELLING
I love the single big-ass knob. Between this & the Bellows I could blow every speaker I own. God bless EQD.

Sold!
Every single guitar sound produced in these few minutes is... well, pure gold.
i was on the fence... i just got mine today... incredible pedal... im blown away.. really
That was great. I appreciate the use of guitar controls to control dirt dynamics.
thank you for being the only review i've found who tried running it into an overdriving amp. it got really smooth
I love that the one knob is huge. The sound is too
When you roll back your volume, that's what a tube screamer should sound like. Great video as always. Haven't seen you on RUclips lately. I hope you and your family are doing well
Got this pedal today, it's fucking amazing! Be warned, it's EXTREMELY loud, take care to not blow out your speakers
wow i , have to admit that i had been completly thrown off in my search for a proper overdrive/distortion box but now i have finally found it omg :)
Sounds a lot like Leslie West tone during his 70s mountain days 🤘🏻
+brettkingman love your demo style. Plenty of playing, plenty of commentary, nice range of examples, right length. Keep it up mate!
Nice demo. I liked the single coils vs humbuckers.
I enjoy your demos. Always a treat . I own the Acapulco Gold, and it certainly works for me.
Thanks for your demos style and grace .
WOW! it's an incredibly versatile pedal in one knob! Great review, you rock!
Cheers, Don. You rock too! Happy New Year. :)
Sounds so rad!!! That’s a tasty desert stoner rock vibe!!! 💚💚💚
I use this pedal for my bass, it sounds fantastic
came for the fuzz pedal, stayed for the tele
(don't get me wrong, the fuzz was fine)
Fascinated by what the pickup selector does on that guitar

Is that an Opeth shirt you are rocking underneath your other shirt?
I dig the pedal, but your clean sound is also killer. Perfect!
Great pedal, just got one today and plugged it in tonight. What a beast, thanks for the video Brett ! It's kind of fun to rattle the windows once in a while
When you were letting the tele ring out it reminded me of Spinal Tap.
Man, I would love to hear a stoner metal album from you. Some of the riffs you play in this video and the videos for the pedals Fishing Is As Fun As Fuzz and I Was A Wolf In The Forest would be perfect for it.
Beautiful playing, nice pedal!
So being that it's meant to sound like power amp drive, does that mean it could work better post preamp in an effects loop?
I called Earthquaker and asked them exactly the same question. Their response? "Good question...". They asked me what kind of amp I was playing through. I told them a Hughes and Kettner. They said, "Ahhh, we only really play our pedals straight into the front of Fenders"...
Robert Foster 😭😭😭 gotta love em
Is there a treble pass filter (bleed) on that lovely tele's volume knob?
Mine just arrived.👍
Best part 4:28. Droppin' the hammer down on the neighbors.
Amazing pedal. If you throw a Rat in front you can summon demons with it.
Have one, easily my favorite dirt pedal. Nothing sounds like it.
4:15 almost thought you were gonna start riffing some "Dopesmoker"
Mine arrives today!
I would like to hear this pedal with a gilmourish solo sound....
Alright, I was hoping you would demo this beast Burg's
Just hit the sub button and like. I love your demos! Keep up the great work! I also am thinking of picking up the Acapulco Gold now for both the guitar and bass.
Where will you put this in a signal chain with boost and overdrive pedals? Thanks
This pedal sounds bad ass! Has kind of a big muff tone but easier to control
i like the way you demo pedals man.. thanks
Nifty jacket there, Burgs. Goes well with the Vans. ;-)
Have one. notice it's very buzzy sometimes. Not fuzz buzz but higher buzz on too of some notes
that sound crushes!!!
Is there a pedal that makes me play like you Bret? ThAT would be amazing!!! Then I'd probably be sound amazing though almost anything decently set up.. thanks for great and inspiring demos

2 Ts oops
Seriously buy this pedal, it’s so unique. You could get away with Marshall sounds with the right OD pedal
Acapulco Gold ? I used to buy a lid for $15, three fingers across a bags worth, and pack my Liberty Bowl !!! That was eons ago.
Anybody have any experience with this and fender amps? I’m running a Princeton and want a disgusting fuzz/distortion sound but I’m worried this might be a bit a-typical.
I'd like to know this as well.
They go straight into Princetons and other clean fender amps to test their pedals. It'll kick ass.
What pedals can help color it to push it into a black hole?
does this pedal colour the sound to a point where the amp choice doesn't make a difference? I'm looking for a pedal to colour my sound with this kind of power-amp break up but i still want to retain my amps tone. Thanks
Great Sound, but i have one question, it's working to play progresive music? I have OD trex tonebug.
Does anyone have experience with how this pedal works with solid state amps?
hi,what about this pedal through a practice marshall mg10? it´s viable?
First, i thought that thats not a model t sound. Then i realized, that your lovely tele is in standard tuning. But that pedal still has way too little low end! ;)
Hello Brett! Pretty intense sound!
Yep. That's the idea. :)
+Brett Kingman didn't Leslie West use sunn???
I really have no idea. I'm totally ignorant of Mr West's gear or achievements for that matter. Something to look forward to when I'm next on a discovery mission.
+Brett Kingman Leslie West form the group MOUNTAIN with Corky laing & Felix papalardi were noted for heavy riffing, sweet ballads & very emotional & soulful guitar through cranked amps....aah the 70's.Definitely you owe it to youself to check em out!!!
From the stories that I've read about his gear,he used to use Sunn Coliseum PA heads. Can't forget about the LP Junior, with P90 pickups.
Is that an Opeth shirt underneath?
Apologies for a noob question, can you get that fuzz with pedal volume turned down? I.e. Overdriven Sunn on acceptable-ish sound level?
A good question and no apologies needed. Yes, you can. You'll notice that the knob was only at about 10:00 o'clock at the start of the video. 0:08 does it hurt your ears? :-D
This sounds magnitudes better than a actual model T
tips for reducing single coil hum? your guitar is super clean without any hum
Hum canceling single coils. No other way around it. So basically humbuckers
HI BRETT is the volume control a gain control to or is the gain set and the volume just goes up as you turn it?.
The latter. :)
How come I want to plug it into one of those tiny Pignose amps.
I have a pignose - It works in a similar way using the guitar volume, just not so extreme!
Are you using the Acapulco Gold or the Acapulco Gold V2? Thanks
First one, Randy. So I'm guessing No.1.
@@BrettKingman Thanks Brett! I did some research and (I think) the only difference between the original and the V2 is they switched to a soft switch. Just FYI
Damn, that sounds good.
What does the pickup selector switch do on your guitar ?
Kind of a tone selector. P1 = wide open, no tone; P2 = tone pot engaged; P3 = 'strangle' position - it engages a capacitor to roll off some high end. Great with fuzz, high gain, etc.
You sold me on it when you drop tuned
"For some reason the stoners like it" 😂
Review the esquire mate
I feel kind of guilty because it's such a versatile pedal but I only use it as a solo boost! :D
Also 03:52 when he turns the Acapulco Gold all the way up the pedal starts actually shaking! HAHAHA!!
What does the pickup selector do on that guitar
One position is volume control only, another engages the tone control, the third has a pre-set treble filter.
Thats as harsh as I remember Acapulco Gold except then it was $25.
No single coil noise? Whats the secret? :D
Really good editing? Noiseless pickups? A noise-gate somewhere in the mixing/mastering process? What's the secret? My Acapulco Gold is NOISY!
Have a read on the earthquakers website what they say about using the right power supply some of those switcher types or daisy chain ones can cause extra noise. Hope that helps.
If there is just one pickup, why the standard tele 3-way switch?
Btw: Neat demo!
Position 1: Volume only, no tone pot - wide open. Position 2: Volume + tone pot. Lets you set up a second sound to switch to. Position 3: Notched. Sort of like a cocked wah. Perfect to feed an overdrive or cranked amp with - lots of singing midrange. Thanks for the kind words. :)
i'm the eggman !!! love the intro dude
Best fuzz for doom I ever bought. It’s worth $129
0:08 haha relatable
When he grimaces. Yup.
"You've only got one knob"
Brett Kingman, circa 2016
Wow.....esquire?
Guitar is too much of a distraction to give any thought to the pedal
Luv the simplicity and the tone
I want one for x mas
Where was the chicken picking with the full fat fuzz bit?
Kidding, that was a schooling on how to work a pedal via guitar pots, awesome.
I played directly from this to a small orange cab and while it did sound terrible it was pretty loud
I have this pedal. But mine seems to just be a volume know. It makes my amp louder instead of more output?
Knob*
Maybe faulty diode.
You didn't review it while wearing a black robe?
Honestly this is one of the best sounding pedals I’ll never buy because you have to play it so loud
Always the best...Oh, where is your daughter, Suds?
So, one of these or a Rat2? Shopping for a distortion, I need more than my Soul Food can give me
Both sound great IMHO I personally stack my mxr od with the 78 dist)( ds1 clone ) for epic fuzz!
>added reverb in post
Why God why
Laney \m/
VintageManDude Laney FTW!
最高♪
1:20 maybe you should 😂 the pedal will sound waaayy better 😂😂😂
Sounds nothing like my Model T!!
haha so loud looks like your in pain
(Thankfully) I've only got one big knob, too. But only one person is allowed to play that instrument, and she ain't you guys! 👺💥💨
You should cringe some more while you demo the pedals, lol! If you're actually interested in buying this pedal, watch Lewis Texidor's review. He really shows what this pedal is designed for and he doesn't cringe once at the volume 🤣
