every video Andy does is amazing. I learned of this band called Hum from a pedal demo he did a while back. And it's awesome he's playing Red Fang and Uncle Acid riffs. He can make anything sound good. fuck.
I'd already placed my order before the end of the Red Fang intro. Spent the next 3 or 4 minutes feeling smug and working out shipping times! Andy rules.
Always love Andy's rendition of these great songs. I've learned so much just from studying his technique, and it's encouraged me to embrace and develop my own idiosyncratic fingerstyle!
Great little pedal, really straightforward in design but seems surprisingly versatile in applications as well. It definitely delivers that cranked Model T magic tone that I've been trying to achieve for so long. Andy you did it again buddy, you've won me over with this demo. Will be buying.
Looks like it IS a simple LM386 circuit; 100ohm Resistor and a big Cap in the Gain Loop (basically max gain of 200), 100k Volume Pot... I had a feeling. I've come to expect a little more innovation from EQD than their latest few releases, but at least people don't have to drop $300 on a Sonic Titan anymore. It'll also be interesting to see if they solved the noise problem the Sonic Titan, Distortus Maximus and their DIY predecessors such as the RoG Grace had.
Yep, I put together a clone kit a few weeks ago. Sounds close-ish. I think this has mine beat, but it's definitely a simple circuit. I need to play it through a cranked amp to be sure. It might be simple, but it's still pretty fun
he sold me on this pedal with that fuckin riff. Also the Akron Art Gallery is selling this pedal with a really cool Mark Mothersbaugh skin on it right now for the same price as the regular version. So I scooped it up! That's what brought me here.
this is a pretty great pedal. Seeing Andy's video made the choice for me. I mostly use a LP jr and a couple Eastwood Airlines through a Blackstar HT-5210 at home and it is definitely in a class by itself for riffing on the low strings and insane oomph for soloing. I haven't played through an old Sunn but this sounds like a cranked something and it's great at practicing and recording levels. Just real thick and smooth. I find it sounds much better the cleaner the amp is. Doesn't seem to mix with other pedals or amp distortion that well but that's just me or what I'm using. I don't think it works that well as a boost or rhythm/lead switcheroo because on/off it is almost too drastic of a difference. Huge volume boost above 12:00. I can't make it sounds like Andy is playing it but I would definitely recommend it and I'm trying to make it work logistically on my board.
Got mine yesterday. This just about does what I thought a Big Muff would do for me but didn't. They are not ENTIRELY unlike, but this has way more gain and overall saturation on tap and doesn't scoop the mids like the Muff does. Sounds clearer.
I picked this baby up at the Psycho California festival, and it is great. Elder played their entire set with it on guitar and bass. That volume boost get can get really out of hand if you're not careful, though!
My only issues with this pedal are the very light weight, cheap plastic feel of the knob, and reliability, mine crapped the bed almost immediately after I purchased it (new), and needed some soldering work reflowed from what they told me when I sent it to them. They did fix it for no charge, but I had to pay to cover all the shipping costs back and forth, which I don't think is right if it's a defect in workmanship causing the problem. That said, I don't think there are many other big pedal makers who provide the attention to detail in the return/repair process that ED does. Overall I'd recommend buying this pedal and others from ED, I just wish they would make a better knob for this pedal.
As a stay at home player I wonder if I even need an overdrive to go with this pedal, considering the range it has. I'd still want one though, just to step on this and be like "here it comes!! Ungh!!"
back in my stoner days (college) I would have bought this pedal on the spot must due to the name and the cool pot leaf graphic..but now I want to buy it because it sounds awesome.
Hey, if you ever get bored doing demos forPGS, you may want to consider working in radio. You've got a terrific radio voice. Hate to lose you here, though. You've got serious chops.
This sounds like the sound I’ve been imagining in my head. I’m really curious how this would sound through the treble booster circuit in a Bassbreaker 007. 🤔
Oh lawd! Awesome demo, killer tones. Looking closer it's clearly an EQD pedal, but the big knob totally puts you off :) Why does it also say "Thief"? What are this?
Thief is a company that puts on doom metal and stoner rock live events. They do a few fests every year in Californi with the best line ups ever. Sleep, Weedeater, Red Fang, Cough, Windhand, Bell Witch, Old Man Gloom, the list just keeps going man.
Is the circuitry for this pedal similar to Joe Gore's Duh Remedial Pedal? I'm just guessing it might be due to the dynamic response and single volume knob. I'm also wondering about the single coil buzz (or lack-thereof ...) Are the pickups in your Strat noiseless? Or are you using a gate in post-processing?
+mikastu I have this pedal and it does seem to lose a little bit of that clean treble when you back off the volume. I also use it in a lower bedroom sound atmosphere so I currently can't say if this is the case playing it really loud in a band situation. The pedal does shine when you crank the volume though. I'll be posting a clip on my channel by tomorrow using this pedal, if you're interested in hearing it.
The best stoner doom band to date would be a bunch of cloned andys. And yes they have great chemistry on stage
But first here’s our clean tone
id pay to see this cloning needs to be a thing
I have a Sunn Model T clone made by Ben over at Verellen Amplifiers and this pedal, especially when dimed, sounds so, so similar. Awesome.
Verellen makes some sweet ass amps.
Andy's thumb and finger technique kills me.
That’s what she said lollll no but for real what he does without a pick is amazing
WellI don't really understand how could a beer appear in my hand
+Theodore Rosewood Was it a Blue Ribbon?... xP
@@TotesMagee Red fang does that sometimes.
…and a nug in my bowl.
Thanks to this video, I've booked our honeymoon vacation to the all inclusive resort of Akron, Ohio.
good call! we got a Mr. Zubs, Luigi's and a Swenson's
If you're in the area, Nelson Ledges Quarry Park is the jewel of that area. They hold music festivals every 2 weeks during the warm season
This is the first review for this pedal featuring riffs it was designed to play
Guys, we absolutely need to list every song in Andy's demo as top comments ! So much good riffs here !
Oh my god, as if Andy couldn't get any cooler, he starts off a video with some Red Fang.
Nothin like a lil' Red Fang to get you hyped for a pedal.
Red Fang and Uncle Acid in the same demo?!?! Are you trying to make me buy this on the spot?
Very cool sound, and great playing as always.
Max Collis not a clue. The first song is Red Fang "Prehistoric Dog" and the last song is Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats "Mt Abraxas"
This is exactly what I was thinking too! Probably my favourite songs from both bands too haha
every video Andy does is amazing. I learned of this band called Hum from a pedal demo he did a while back. And it's awesome he's playing Red Fang and Uncle Acid riffs. He can make anything sound good. fuck.
In what video does he play Hum songs? Id love to hear that!
+Kyle Kerper He plays a Hum song in one of the Wren and Cuff Eye see Pi videos
Hum is freaking awesome. They really needed more airplay.
A lot of the songs I write nowadays can be classified as Hum worship
I'd already placed my order before the end of the Red Fang intro. Spent the next 3 or 4 minutes feeling smug and working out shipping times! Andy rules.
Pedal seems pretty cool. Red Fang and Uncle Acid found a new fan, thanks Andy
Always love Andy's rendition of these great songs. I've learned so much just from studying his technique, and it's encouraged me to embrace and develop my own idiosyncratic fingerstyle!
Uncle Acid! Andy you've won me over with this demo. Will be buying.

Not sure if I'll buy the pedal, but I am now a Red Fang fan. Cheers bro.
"Anti-matter spitting doom machine."
i will name my band after this
all inclusive resort of Akron, OH
Indeed
This is the best guitar gain box I've ever heard. I bet this would be perfect with a Fryette Poweramp
That Mt. Abraxas, though. You really need to do some more riffs from those Uncle Acid & The Dead Guys, Andy.
Uncle Acid and Red Fang in one video! Andy was on point that day.
Looks like it IS a simple LM386 circuit; 100ohm Resistor and a big Cap in the Gain Loop (basically max gain of 200), 100k Volume Pot... I had a feeling.

I was hoping a little that he might play some SUNN O)))
This is an awesome demo especially the tasty Uncle Acid riff!
Nearly bought this pedal just because you played Uncle Acid with it! Your musical taste is matched only by your technical ability.
I love the humor in the reference!
OH YES! UNCLE ACID motherfuckers!
MT ABRAXAS!
he sold me on this pedal with that fuckin riff. Also the Akron Art Gallery is selling this pedal with a really cool Mark Mothersbaugh skin on it right now for the same price as the regular version. So I scooped it up! That's what brought me here.
I'm building my own!
red fang you mean?
There's a little of both in there! Last song is Mt. Abraxas by our beloved uncle though.
Uncle Acid tone in a can - I need this in my life
this is a pretty great pedal. Seeing Andy's video made the choice for me. Fantastic pedal, BLACK SABBATH in a BOX.
Uncle Acid! Brilliant!

Uncle Acid, wonderful!
Got it in the new design. This pedal is fkn awesome.
Just bought this and its blowing my socks off! What a great pedal!
John-Paul Bader be careful mine has gone bad. got a fizz
Ahhh, this is killing me. What song is he playing starting at 2:27. Sounds so familiar but I can't place it.
someone answer this! I feel the same way!
the ending part of electic jewels by april wines
ghost town by kanye west the guitar part
red fang and uncle acid in one video...god damn. Andy when I move up to Portland I'm buying you a beer.
Yeah ! Uncle Acid at 4'10 with Mt Abraxas ! \m/
And Uncle Acid amazing demo man!
Good ole Red Fang to kick off the demo, less go!!
I picked this baby up at the Psycho California festival, and it is great. Elder played their entire set with it on guitar and bass. That volume boost get can get really out of hand if you're not careful, though!
That’s why God invented master volume knobs
That's it, the one pedal that has nothing but...MORE. Hell yes!
harlon57 The Speaker Cranker from Earthquaker Devices, also only has a More Knob. You might want to check it out, as well.
Most righteous demo ever. Uncle Acid.
Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats + Red Fang in the same demo!! SOLD
My only issues with this pedal are the very light weight, cheap plastic feel of the knob, and reliability, mine crapped the bed almost immediately after I purchased it (new), and needed some soldering work reflowed from what they told me when I sent it to them. Is it the potentiometer of the knob or the knob itself? It could very likely be swapped to a higher quality knob if it's not the potentiometer.
Sounds killer.
It looks nothing like an Earthquaker Devices pedal, but I love its design.
You could get some serious Melvins tones from that pedal.
This is definitely the kind of comment I'd like to se more often. Melvins ones.
And yeah, it's definitely in the Melvins territory !
Damn. You're right. Didn't hear it at first. I'm so used to that bite from their JCM800s to see that this would be a great tone for them.
You had me at “Anti-Matter-Spitting Doom Machine”
National Treasure that Andy...!
Damn, that super swede always sounds good on distortion, I love it
Dude the Uncle Acid riff!!!! Choice!!!
any demo with red fang riffs gets a like from me.
Pedal sounds amazing esp with that Super Swede. I want both now haha
+Keith S. my Super Swede trem with three p90 pickups has changed my life.
As a stay at home player I wonder if I even need an overdrive to go with this pedal, considering the range it has. I'd still want one though, just to step on this and be like "here it comes!! Ungh!!"
Dude I thought you were awesome before, but after hearing you play Uncle Acid you are like the coolest ever!!!
I'd love to jam with Andy. Dude plays straight everything!
Akron Ohio is a resort ? You got me Andy
back in my stoner days (college) I would have bought this pedal on the spot must due to the name and the cool pot leaf graphic..but now I want to buy it because it sounds awesome.
Just got the pedal today... game changer for me... I want to be buried with this godamn thing.. amazing
This pedal arrived today. I purchased the black graphic v2
Uncle Acid, my man!
What an intro!
this guy definitely has best job in the world!
Sérieux Andy tu m'a tué !! Et heureux de dire ça, j'ai l'impression d'avoir 15 ans encore ! And nice player and nice amazing color of pedal !

Hey you're playing an Uncle Acid riff @4:00 I SEE YOU!
Sounds f****** awesome!
Amazing pedal !
He makes that Uncle Acid sound way better than when I play it... and yes I have the pedal lol. Need humbuckers.
Red Fang and Uncle Acid! Fuck yeah! Great tone too!
Hell Yes!!!! Red Fang!!!
That intro reminds me of Kyuss.
+Jim Harris Oh Kyuss, how we miss you.
+Joshua Fox yeah but josh's tone was such a huge part of kyuss, doesnt sound the same
just as a headsup, if no one told you or you were Unaware, Intro was Prehistoric Dogs by Red Fang. GREAT fucking band.
Need it. Need it now
Thanks to the magic of the internet, I discovered Red Fang from watching a guitar pedal video.
name of the second song?
Hey, if you ever get bored doing demos forPGS, you may want to consider working in radio. You've got a terrific radio voice. Hate to lose you here, though. You've got serious chops.

Awesome tone.
Finally. They did it...
aww yeah! I'm buying this!
Damn you Andy!!! Mine just arrived today. lol!
I wonder which Sunn Model T? The one that's based on a V4 or the one that's based on a Plexi?
Way to do some listening. Uncle Acid!
+Jonathan Ben-Isvy
Dude's got street cred.
He also plays Mt. Abraxas by Uncle Acid. Fucking great band.
Would the Mini face Hendrix in team with this Gold sound good?
Yay! Lay us down some Fang!
Oh lawd! Awesome demo, killer tones.
Looking closer it's clearly an EQD pedal, but the big knob totally puts you off :) Why does it also say "Thief"? What are this?

+Leechmouth cool, thanks!
This thing just another LM386 Distortion? Earthquaker's take on the Sonic Titan?
RED FANG!
This is what I always thought a Big Muff should have sounded like.
Prehistoric dog for the intro, hell fucking yes🫡
Is the circuitry for this pedal similar to Joe Gore's Duh Remedial Pedal? I'm just guessing it might be due to the dynamic response and single volume knob.
I'm also wondering about the single coil buzz (or lack-thereof ...) Are the pickups in your Strat noiseless? Or are you using a gate in post-processing?
name of the second song? ( around the 2:40 mark)
Oh yeah! Red Fang \m/
Prehistoric DOg!!!!!!!!!!!!!
suddenly got a craving for a PBR....
Yeah Red Fang!!!!
Bought this only hearing Red Fang and Uncle Acid. I will figure the rest out later
well, the intro definitely wins
Does that Strat have a treble bleed on it or is that pedal keeping it that clean and preserving the high tones at low volume?
+mikastu
I have this pedal and it does seem to lose a little bit of that clean treble when you back off the volume. fadedcorpse Cool, I'll check it out! Thanks!
