i love how lexus combines old school and new tech. this is exactly what i am looking for in a modern car if i was to buy one. it is great that they are brave enough to not follow every trend and know what their customers want.
My parents have a 2016 RX they bought in 2019 before the crazy price increases. It has 90,000 miles on it and they will most likely be able to keep it for another 10 years. It's a great ride, very safe, and with as many tech features as one could want. It has adaptive cruise control, a big 12-inch navigation system, keyless entry and go, a power liftgate, ventilated and heated seats, rear air-con, lane departure warning, and BSM, it really is the whole package. Every time I ride with them it is very serene inside. The suspension isn't so firm, the v6 is smooth, in traffic you don't hear cars or the outside very much at all. It does everything so well. If I wasn't a committed wagon man, I would buy one. An added plus, it's fairly old now, but there aren't any creaks and you wouldn't be able to detect its age.
Had 7 RXs since 1999, often 2 at a time, always metallic silver. That's 24 years and beyond the usual service items, the sum total of anything going wrong unexpectedly amounts to a CV joint, a bonnet strut and one flat battery. That's the driving experience I like !
@glenbetton3146 Wow, great testament to the RX's legendary reliability reputation! I have an is300h which i love. But time to upgrade to a larger car, cant decide between the NX or RX.
@@Shane-zx4ps i was cruising on the motorway with cruise control on at 60mph for 3 hours to get to Sheffield from London and not accelerating or overtaking anyone
I’ve just bought an NX300H …. Totally agree with many things you’ve said … it’s it isn’t as fast or won’t hand as well as some rivals, but I live in Australia where’s you probably have among the most Draconian speed limits/rules/enforcement in the world so handling and speed aren’t a requirement in Australia, so this car is perfect for me
What a ringing endorsement for Lexus, clear, clean assessment, great withering asides and no waffle. Best thing is that you pronounced "small aitch" not "Haitch" like everyone else under 40. Class....
Hi Matt, I own one of these... Couple of points, you can configure almost all of the chimes and alarms to be off if you want via the settings (not especially intuitive though). I think you will find the CD player is also a DVD player as well - for all those old movies us fossils love to watch as we drive along at 3 mph... ;-) As for the off road ability, may I suggest you check out the Fifth Gear TV review where they took one slightly off road and were astounded at how good it actually was... There are also some mad videos from Russia where they have done crazy things with these in frozen forests etc. It's obviously no range rover, but how many range rover owners venture far off the tarmac??? In short, as you said all the car you ever need... and for those other situations I also have an MB sports for whenever I feel the need to test autobahn speeds.
Lexus reminds me a little bit of Mercedes-Benz in the 80s. They have a relatively small choice of models, engines and gearboxes. But everything they make is high quality and hopefully built to last.
Matt, you’ve hit the nail right in the head with this car. The heartbeat of a crocodile 🤣 - excellent. Most couldn’t care about its lap time. More importantly, will it help chill me out before getting home after a crap day at work and not cost the earth (literally) to run! I think so. Great review and I’d certainly consider one over my current Discovery “Sport”
The attention to detail, customer service and of course the reliability make Lexus the best luxury brand on the market. The so called luxury German brands don't come close to what Lexus give as an overall package. If Mercedes built cars as well as they did thirty to forty years ago (w123/w124 series) and offer good customer service they might come close to Lexus. Thanks for a great review!
We have W212 (E350) from 2012 and it has been extremely reliable and built like a tank but if you need to repair anything think the price is double in comparison to Lexus. That was one of my main criterias to buy it years ago. We receiving NX300h premium next week and quite excited to finally see it :)
We bought last month the new nx300h e-four 2020 model. I agree almost in everything. So I will give my opinion on the “bads” of the car you pointed and others in othe videos. Command center touch pad, everybody criticize it, but is awesome. Easy to use like everybody uses a notebook pad. Nothing difficult. Only thing you have to learn is the way and logic of the system or how the software operates. Nothing as difficult as switching from windows to MacOS. Or from a Sony car stereo radio to a Blaupunkt or from a android to a iPhone. I think, you got the idea. As soon as you understand how it works, it turns very easy to use and quick to operate. > engine power and cvt: the car has a eco, normal and sport mode. Usually everybody drives it in “eco mode” so it is slowish... of course. I learn now, while driving very quick to ouch the button and it’s selected the Normal mode, when you want to overtake or need more power to climb a hill for ie. That power is more than enough, it pushes it very well without turning to a beast. Only once a tried the sport mode, that was way to quick and aggressive. The dashboard turns red and on the left side appears the rpms digital gauges ... pretty beasty 300hp style ... LOl I drive many other car brands and styles of cars in my job for business trips in the country. Lexus is my favorite. In the interior level and comfort of an Audi 6 Quattro station wagon or a MB E350 sedan. You feel you’re driving a premium brand with lexus!
Hi Matt another great review. I'm in my 12th year of faultless Lexus ownership. And shock horror I actually stream music through the excellent entertainment system. Your right they arn't the most exiting cars in the world but they are a lovely place to be stuck in a traffic jam, and if properly maintained they don't break. If I need some excitement I just throw my leathers on and go for a blast on my Z 1000 SX. I think I've got all the bases covered. Keep the reviews coming.😁
I recently drove my 2008 rx400h to London and back, a round trip of some 34 miles, achieved 40 mpg. Wafted along in total comfort and near silence, the Mark Levinson sound system caressing my ears. For a 13 year old, 3.3 litre car, you really can't complain. Everything still works, my friends and family love it....I am considering an NX300h as my retirement car. Totally sold on the brand.
Good video. I retired in 2020 after working for Lexus for 17 years. Arguably this is one of the best looking cars inside and out. Bomb proof build quality inside and out. Reliability as standard Two slight downsides IMO. The drive is perhaps not the most engaging. Fuel economy is poor to be honest But if you buy one - Enjoy!!!

Great review - very comprehensive overview of this awesome car. The small details are important & you delivered this in spades. It's a little outside my price range but this review has made me take another look at Lexus.
Excellent rant about the beeps, some cars it’s optional for these noises, given the overall tech in this car it should be too I guess. Great work as always. 👏🏼
What an awesome vid. 🙏🏽 My 325d touring is gone and need a new car. Been thinking X3, Q5, XC60 then back to X3. You've just sold me a Lex. I hit 50miles daily at 6miles p/stop. My wallet is really gonna grow. Top video again 👌🏾
I love Lexus and this is one is a top car. Love the colour combo. The light interior makes the cabin light and airy. After seeing this review, I want one!
Great review. I bought a 2015 example of the same car three months ago. I agree with almost everything you said. You could have added that the audio system in the Premier is the best in any affordable car, it’s more lively in sport mode but driving in normal mode I have consistently returned 40 mph. Almost my perfect car. A fully electric NX with 250 miles of range and 150kW charging speed would be perfection.
I drive a 2018 NX300H Luxury Line (which is the German version if your premier). The car is fully loaded. For me it is the best car I've ever driven. I like your review, because you look at the car the right way. Where is the point of a sporty SUV? If I wanna go fast, I buy a sportscar. In my NX, I enjoy every ride from the beginning.
I do like a Lexus and have had a few over the years! Had an IS300 back in 2000 ish, then had an IS220D SEL in 2010. Customer service is great, I could go along on a Saturday morning get free bacon rolls and watch tv or read the papers whilst they washed my car for free. Always had a great loan car when mine was in for service too, had a couple RX’s and a one of those NX300H too! Managed to get my full drum kit in the back for a gig in Stirling an all ha ha!! Lexus even loaned me a LS450H as one of my wedding cars! Awesome and very much underrated cars and company!! 👍🏻😎
I have had a 68 plate NX for just over 14 months and it is brilliant. Just had Michelin Cross Climate SUV tyres fitted and it handles really well in awful, wintery conditions. The voice control makes me laugh though "Station, BBC Radio Two" comes back as Radio One. "Station, BBC Radio Four" returns Radio One. Who said the target market was not the youngsters. :) But "Station BBC R two" gives Ken Bruce the opportunity to exercise his dulcet tones through the superb sound system. Am I pleased with it...Yes but alas my wife loves driving it as well so it's a race to the driver's seat.
You can disable the lock/unlock noise so that you just hear the power locks operating and see the flashers flashing. Also the parking beepers and the rear door operating sound can be set to whatever volume you prefer. It can all be done in the settings tab of the driver information system. So, there's no need to annoy the neighbours!
Thanks for keeping your promise Matt. You promised me awhile ago that as soon as you got an NX you would do a review. I considering changing my IS220d next year and I was thinking about an NX rather than another IS for practicality and just something different. You have just made up my mind, I'm definitely going to buy one. Premium spec in red with beige leather and pan roof. Thanks Matt.
I have a second hand GS Lexus. I mentioned to the dealer when we got it that I didn't like the beeping. Somehow he managed to get into the options and it makes a quiet, single, beep.
I thought I had decided that I’m getting my wife the Mazda CX-5, but after watching this I’m not so sure. I think I love this one more. I love the interior. Great review as always👌🏾
Love a Lexus everything is so over engineered (apart from the track pad thing), the other day I noticed that even the windows slow down before closing to not annoy you 😂 CVT? I don’t mind it once you get used to driving it it shifts enough.
i have the NX300 H f sport and its simply a elegant and dynamic drive and also its very qucik when i switch it into sport mode. This is my 2nd nx300H f sport and i will always always buy the lexus fsport due to its aggressive grill and its gorgeous interior.
Gotta sat Mat, such a contrast between yourself and Clarkson. Loud in you face in contrast to the calm poise of your delivery but the metaphors used equally appealingly.
Absolutely love your reviews. While it is a review of a vehicle I occasionally have a chuckle hearing your amusing comparisons and metaphors. Not only they are good reviews but very entertaining as well. Keep'em coming.
Great ‘real world’ review… as you say people who buy these are not interested in 0-60 times or driving like a sports car. I’ve recently purchased the new shape Toyota RAV4 which is effectively this car in a different set of clothes (but on the newer platform) and all your comments apply just the same. A smooth, quiet, safe, comfortable, well equipped (I have the Dynamic) and economical car that’s hard to fault. I’m averaging mid 40’s mpg in general driving 👍
@@HighPeakAutosmassively underrated. I have sold about 10 LS430s over the years and some people are like ain't they just a big Toyota? Thinking about it I think I sold the majority to people that have already had a lexus.
Nice review Matt worth waiting for! I like this Lexus NX300h too, very compelling! Love the technology at the right price. Can see why this is so desirable in the UK and a big seller!
Matt….as a very early subscriber to your channel I am smug in the knowledge that I recognised what was to become , by far , the best car review channel on the interzoob! I haven’t watched any of your vids in which I disagreed with anything you have said ……i could easily see myself buying a car from you …and might do so yet as I always appreciate a good car with no hidden surprises ! Also a a very long term owner of an SL55 ,as you are too …I follow with regularity … No need to say keep up the good videos .. It’s your modus operandi… Great stuff!
Loved this review one of your best ...this would be the car I would buy when I finish work ...have a company car at the moment ,..and yes a cd player that's for me ...
Great video! I'm also considering picking up one of these. Ideally I would want an Electric car but I'm hooked on the Lexus brand (this would be an upgrade for the family from a CT200H) and it looks like it will be quite some time as well as very expensive before we see any of their bigger cars electrified...
That is a lovely car you are driving. Really the complaints you have are very minor to me and to be honest,i am sure in the cars settings you can lower the the beep sound.I have had many nice Japanese cars and my latest is the Mazda cx5 and in that one i can do what ever i want with the sounds and beeps and lighting in the car.You can adjust just about anything.Look forward to your next post.Stay safe and strong man.
Lovely car and well done for still including a CD player, Lexus. I have a 2018 Mazda also with a CD player. Yet, I've also got Bluetooth and twin USB connections if needed. Some of us still have big CD collections and still want the ability to play a CD while driving.
Interior looks lovely in this. I even like the styling - apart from the grille. To my eyes the huge grille would look better as two separate openings. Out of interest, does this ride on steel or air springs?
I have a gs300h with this drive train in it and its honestly amazing. Incredibly comfortable, much more efficient than an suv (which I test drove), looks like nothing else,, it covers ground in pure luxury and quiet serenity. it's phenomenonaly reliable and when I need a service I get to visit a lexus dealer. I don't think I'll ever change now. You also get used to the infotainment very quickly
My problem with Lexus Hybrids is they didn’t allow the back seats to fold down, which is a problem if you both play golf! So went for Audi A7. Heads up display is the biggest safety feature that people don’t know they need!
Great review of a very interesting car , luxury at a relaxing pace . Have just dipped a toe into the hybrid pool with a purchase of a used Lexus CT200h premium after watching your review of one from a while back , collect it tomorrow and makes sense where we live on the very congested South coast near Brighton with a car hating local council.

You can disable the lock/unlock noise so that you just hear the power locks operating and see the flashers flashing. Also the parking beepers and the rear door operating sound can be set to whatever volume you prefer. It can all be done in the settings tab of the driver information system. So, there's no need to annoy the neighbours!
are you looking to get a dashcam to protect your car by any chance?
Ideal for me and my Glen Miller collection.... and oceans of room for the golf clubs.
I bought a LEXUS NX 300 and it drives so smoothly and it’s a very high car
Thanks for keeping your promise Matt. You promised me awhile ago that as soon as you got an NX you would do a review.
I considering changing my IS220d next year and I was thinking about an NX rather than another IS for practicality and just something different.
You have just made up my mind, I'm definitely going to buy one. Premium spec in red with beige leather and pan roof.
Thanks Matt.
You won’t regret it
1:52 I mean I honestly don’t mind singing WAP (Cardi b) down the phone line to you, seen as though you missed it!? Due to those wretched controls 😇😈
Hahah how did you know!
We will replace our verso with an NX. I hope it’s worth it. Lexus NX is a very great luxury car great for affordability
Great Japanese Car and good review. The new NX is coming soon. :)
Great to see a c d player for those of us that have a thousand cds from way back and better sound quality than Spotify
I have a second hand GS Lexus. I mentioned to the dealer when we got it that I didn't like the beeping. Somehow he managed to get into the options and it makes a quiet, single, beep.
Thats interesting
My 2010 RX makes also a single beep.
You can also switch off seat belt off warning buzzer. Just Google the procedure. 10s and annoying warning is gone.
@@kubiyoshi2744 that’s good to know
@@HighPeakAutos definitely in older RX and GS. But Iam pretty shure in the new models as well.
Just bought a 2017 NX F-Sport ... absolutely loving it, and I've had a few cars.
Brilliant as usual,well done ✅
Thank you! Cheers!
I am in 3rd year of leasing one of these ('68 plate Lux) and you've nailed it with your review, absolutely spot on ✅ 37mpg over the 34 months.
Thats good to hear
CD Player: There's not much point having an expensive Mark Levinson stereo and only streaming compressed shite 😜
I thought I had decided that I’m getting my wife the Mazda CX-5, but after watching this I’m not so sure. I think I love this one more. I love the interior. Great review as always👌🏾
Always wanted a removable vanity mirror in my car so I can see my smug face 😂
Hahaha
It reveals a well hidden coin box/ sweets stash.
Quite amazed with your explanation and review. Very solid and stable.
"...you shouldn't get any hate mail from Swedish teenagers" Actu-lol!!!! Brilliant!
HOW DARE YOU!
Gotta sat Mat, such a contrast between yourself and Clarkson. Loud in you face in contrast to the calm poise of your delivery but the metaphors used equally appealingly.
Thank you! Very kind
Reliable Refined and efficient Lexus NX300 TH Lexus can't go wrong.
Great review - straight forward and no fluffing around
Another good review... you’ve almost got me wanting one, but I suppose I am getting to that stage in life 😂
Absolutely love your reviews. While it is a review of a vehicle I occasionally have a chuckle hearing your amusing comparisons and metaphors. Not only they are good reviews but very entertaining as well. Keep'em coming.
Thank you
Looks great but my CVT allergy might put me off. All that luxury then you have a motorboat soundtrack 😞
I like the new rav 4. Great cars
I never ever look up for a Lexus. This might be the first time 👍🏻
They're great cars
@@HighPeakAutosmassively underrated. I have sold about 10 LS430s over the years and some people are like ain't they just a big Toyota? Thinking about it I think I sold the majority to people that have already had a lexus.
I am now at my 3rd Lexus. I started with a 2013 ct, then a 2015 is and now a 2017 gs. I am thinking the next car will be nx
Nice review Matt worth waiting for! I like this Lexus NX300h too, very compelling! Love the technology at the right price. Can see why this is so desirable in the UK and a big seller!
Mirror to look at your smug face! Hahaha love it.
😁
Matt….as a very early subscriber to your channel I am smug in the knowledge that I recognised what was to become , by far , the best car review channel on the interzoob!
I haven’t watched any of your vids in which I disagreed with anything you have said ……i could easily see myself buying a car from you …and might do so yet as I always appreciate a good car with no hidden surprises !
Also a a very long term owner of an SL55 ,as you are too …I follow with regularity …
No need to say keep up the good videos ..
It’s your modus operandi…
Great stuff!
Thank you! I appreciate it. You’ve got a good taste in cars 😉
The way things are going we'll all be on Shank's pony.
Great honest balanced reviews delivered with wonderful comic timing, what's not to like.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like the new upload time so don’t clash with I’m a celebrity soapstar...
Just make sure to do the same when love island starts next summer please x
Haha I'll keep that in mind
Professor Dre.... OMG! This is another reason why I love your content and channel! I am so glad that I have found you. :))
Great review and great car, even though I've never had a Lexus I high rate them.Wonder how quickly you'll sell this :)
Absolutely. I'm about to buy a 2021 run out model NX 300
Matrix lights is the feature that should be mandatory!
Interior looks lovely in this. I even like the styling - apart from the grille. To my eyes the huge grille would look better as two separate openings. Out of interest, does this ride on steel or air springs?
Steel. No air suspension on the NX. I prefer it that way. It still has a comfortable ride and air suspensions are very expensive to fix.
Good reviews, nice website with well presented, clean used cars. Keep up the good work.👍
Thanks!
The wait for a gs450h review continues 👀😂
Next time I get one I will film with it
Had one, it did 34mpg, wasn’t fast, not as refined as I hoped yet I just loved it.
Lexus truly have a culture of producing high quality motors. A true alternative to the Germans.
I hired an RX abroad and thought the gearbox was broken
My problem with Lexus Hybrids is they didn’t allow the back seats to fold down, which is a problem if you both play golf! So went for Audi A7. Heads up display is the biggest safety feature that people don’t know they need!
The front end looks like a hoover.
A sexy Henry the hoover
Great review of a very interesting car , luxury at a relaxing pace . Have just dipped a toe into the hybrid pool with a purchase of a used Lexus CT200h premium after watching your review of one from a while back , collect it tomorrow and makes sense where we live on the very congested South coast near Brighton with a car hating local council.
Good choice!
CD player and coke mirror. Truly a car of the 80s.
Thanks mate your voice was nice and soothing I fell asleep, you really fixed my insomnia 😀
Lovely car, pass the werthers over and sign me up!
You will definitely make it as a comic your timing is crazy since I discovered your channel I'm hooked like a fiend.
Thank you!
It's got paddle shifters. Paddle shifters. PADDLE SHIFTERS. P A D D L E S H I F T E R S.
Paddle shifters on a CVT hybrid... pointless
@@HighPeakAutos 1st gear: cat
2nd hear: calf
3rd gear: cow
4th gear: old cow
5th gear: depressed cow
6th gear: old depressed cow
@@HighPeakAutos the paddle shifters and step up down on the gear stick are hilarious like the false engine volume control ASC. I have a 64 plate f-sport
Come on, you're not fooling anybody with those. Same with having massive exhausts on the Ford Kuga.
Another great video Matt, thank you very much as always. Very highly reputable brand Lexus. They appeal to a very large market especially in North America and the Middle East. They've been around for ages so they must be doing something right!
Professor Dre and Shaggy dog lol
